a/n: Hi! Apologies, yeah..I know it is usually after 20 weeks before they can determine gender, but I was editing some of this story, and cut the wrong corners. Sorry1 Will be more careful in future…for now, put it down to, uhm…poetic licence? :o)

Arizona was tiptoeing backwards out of the smaller bedroom, having gone in earlier to resettle Sofia. She had woken up when she heard Sofias soft cries, knowing their sleepy daughter would be a little scared of her new surroundings she had not waited to see if she would calm down on her own accord, and had quickly pulled herself free of her wifes arms and hurried across to comfort her daughter before the soft cries became full on wailing! She had sat and rocked her daughter as she softly told her that the room she was in had been her brothers, Sofias Uncle Tim, and that now it was hers, her Grandparents had decorated it just for her. She had pointed out the bookcase and promised they could go shopping for new books to fill it, and finally, she had softly sung to her daughter, watching as her beautiful eyes slowly closed. It was peaceful in the little room, safe, she felt as if everything in her life was normal, everything was ok. So, she had snuggled down a little closer to Sofia, and tried to sleep. But, sleep had eluded her, so, she had slowly pulled herself free of her daughters arms, and decided to head back to the arms of the other brunette in her life.

Clicking the bedroom door closed she turned to walk back to her own room, gasping as instead she collided with the solid figure of her father. "I'm sorry!" he whispered as his hands came up to her shoulders to steady her. "I didn't mean to scare you. I…I heard you, singing to Sofia. I couldn't help but stop and listen. You, you used to sing to Tim, when he had nightmares, remember? Eighteen months younger than him, yet you were the only one who could soothe him like that"

Arizona nodded as she whispered. "I remember. But, I think half the time he did it cos he knew I was scared, and didn't want to admit it! Letting me sing to him, made me feel, stronger!"

With a big sigh Daniel stepped forward and wrapped his arms around his daughter as he muttered. "Always stronger than you thought you were. Always"

They stood holding each other for several minutes before Arizona pulled back and looked at her dad. "You're freezing!" she whispered. "Come downstairs with me, I'll make you a cocoa!"

Daniel nodded and followed his daughter silently down the staircase, neither noticed that they were being watched by Callie, who had woken when she realised her arms were empty. She stood and watched as the two Robbins made their way downstairs, then softly closed her bedroom door and climbed back into bed, clicking on the side lamp and deciding to read until her wife came back to bed.

Daniel sat down on the kitchen stool and watched as his little girl pottered around the kitchen. "When did you become so domesticated?" he chuckled, "I used to need a fire extinguisher if you made a cereal!"

"Daddy!" she laughed. "I was never that bad!" She looked at his raised eyebrows and grinned back. "Ok, so I wasn't THAT good either, but a cereal? Daddy!"

"Ok, so maybe you could manage cereal…if you could call the sugar fix you used to have every day, how you could eat that…."

Arizona was giggling. "You sound like Callie!"

"Smart woman!

"Of course, she married me!" Arizona gave a cocky smirk and wink. "She is also the reason I am more…domesticated! She refused to let me live on sugar and junk, and taught me the basics like bacon and eggs and oatmeal without lumps! I am not bad now, can make a few good dishes, not as good as Callies….but then, to be fair, if they were she might make me cook more!"

"Crafty! I taught you well!"

She laughed again as she put down two mugs of hot cocoa and the pack of cookies she had grabbed. "I hath un excuthe!" she said through a muffled mouthful as her dad watched her shovel a whole cookie in her mouth at once

He chuckled and nodded before reaching for her hand. He didn't say anything. Not at first. Merely sat, and held her hand tighter than she could ever remember. She held her breath and brought her other hand up to rest on his. Finally, it was her who broke the silence as she whispered. "I'm ok dad. Really I am. I'm ok. You don't have to worry about me"

"I didn't protect you" her dad hissed. "I have failed you time and time again. Time, and time again. But this…."

"Nobody could have protected me from this daddy!" Arizona said quickly as she reached up to cup her fathers cheek. "Nobody! Alex was there, you've met him? Alex Karev. Big guy. Tough guy. My friend. And he, he couldn't stop it! He got drugged to! Callie, Callie feels it wouldn't have happened if she had come with me to the whole conference, she hasn't said it to me too often as she gets upset, but she blames herself to. I worry that if she HAD been there, he would have hurt her to! Nobody could have seen this was going to happen, except…except him! But daddy, HE is the only one to blame, and the only one who could have stopped this. So please, PLEASE believe me when I say, you didn't fail me. You have NEVER failed me daddy. Never"

"He hurt you"

"Yes. He did"

"If I get my hands on him, I swear…"

"Daddy!"

"I'm a marine Arizona, a Colonel! I'm trained to protect my men, to be a good man in a storm…and to bring down hellfire and damnation on anyone who breaks trust with us. I demand justice. I will find, justice! When I find him, I swear, I will have justice!"

Arizona rolled her eyes a fraction and muttered. "You and Carlos are two of a kind!"

"Torres! What's he got to do with this?"

"Oh, well. I got hurt, which hurt Callie, so Carlos is another father demanding justice! Pity neither of you have thought to ask what I want!" she sighed

Daniel nodded and patted her hand. "You just want to put this all behind you, and move on. You want to concentrate on raising your family with Callie, and be happy!"

With a weak smile Arizona nodded and whispered. "Exactly! How did you know?"

"Wish I could claim I was super smart and know my daughter inside out! But, it was your mom! She told me, everything, saw me reaching boiling point, and told me to suck it up and let it go, just soldier on. Because, all my daughter needs, is her dad to be there, and to be the worlds best babysitter!"

Arizona gave a mix of a sob and a chuckle as her dad stood up and pulled her into his arms. "Daddy!" she whispered. "I'm so scared!"

"Scared baby?" Daniel chuckled again. "Scared? Honey, in your 30 odd years you have faced more than anyone else I have known. You faced hatred from school bullies because you were smarter than them, prettier than them….more popular than them. What did you do? You gradually made friends with them, helped them study, spent time getting to know them, letting them get to know you. And then, just as you were settled, we moved, and you had to start all over again! And you never complained! When you first announced you were gay, you didn't choose an easy path, you didn't choose to hide your sexuality, you chose to be true to yourself and not to hide, even if it cost you friends and family. Don't think I ever told you how proud I was of you for that did I?"

Arizona looked up at him and softly shook her head

"Hmm, sorry baby. But I was, I am, so proud of you for that." Her dad sighed as he hugged her tightly to him and whispered. "My heart was breaking, but I saw the devastation in you when you lost your brother, I saw the pain, and then, that sheer determination to fight back and succeed to make him proud of you, and he would have been proud. So proud. And he would have danced like crazy at your wedding, mind you he would have tried to steal Callie of course, but he wouldn't have had a chance, we all know that!" He chuckled as Arizona pretended to pout. "Nope, not a chance. The bond you have with her, was strong before your car crash, before Sofia. But after that, it became unbreakable. You are a family, and the love between you, only what you deserve my Angel. After the plane, and your leg, you fought back, against your own demons, after pushing Callie away as best you could, you fought back. You both did. And found happiness again. And now, this monster, what he did, what happened, he could have torn you both apart, could have ripped everything away from you." He paused and drew in a shaky breath as he finished. "But you are stronger than him. Stronger than you know you can be. And with Callie by your side, you are capable of anything, including being mom to three new-borns!" He gave a soft chuckle as he lifted her chin so she could look in his eyes, "although I have to admit, that has to be the scariest thing you have yet to tackle!"

"Gee, thanks dad!" Arizona grinned back as she sniffed slightly and wiped the tears from her eyes. "You know, I think that is the biggest speech you have ever given me!"

"Really? Hmm, well, what about the lecture I gave you when you bought your first car?"

"Seriously? You told me, and I quote, remember to put gas in so you don't break down, and don't speed!"

"That's it? What about don't pick up strangers, or no racing, or stick to the main highways…."

"Nope!" Arizona chuckled. "You said all that to Tim, guess you figured I was too sensible huh?"

Daniel hugged her tighter as he nodded. "Guess so! You always were my smart girl!"

"Not so smart now huh pop? Three babies! Oh God, what will we do? How will we cope? How could I be so stupid as to keep this child, children…ugh! I, I thought about termination, it's still not too late, and…."

"ARIZONA!" her father gasped. "How could you even consider that? Apart from the fact that it would destroy you, you cannot do that to Callie! This child….sorry, these children, are innocent, and they are Gods will!"

Arizona stepped back and looked sideways at her father. "Gods will? Daddy? Are you saying God wanted me to be raped?"

"No! Oh NO Arizona. I would never say that. Never" her father cleared his throat and shook his head. "Never say that. No. What I am saying is that, uhm, well, what are the odds of someone getting pregnant from a ray…uhm…from being attacked? And, how many gay women get attacked like this and find themselves pregnant hmm?"

"I dunno daddy" Arizona said quietly, "I guess it's not something I have ever really wondered about too much!"

"Well, I figure, it won't be that many. So, if it had to happen to you, if, if it had to be that this crazy man attacked you, then…in his own way, God gave you a gift to ease your pain. He gave you your own child"

"What? Like a….A consolation prize?" Arizona asked with a bitter laugh

"No!" Daniel shook his head and sat down, pulling his daughter down to sit in his lap. "No honey. Not that. I just" he sighed and shook his head," I'm not explaining this too well am I huh?"

"That's a no dad!" Arizona said softly.

Daniel smiled and nodded a fraction. "It's just, I can't accept that these babies are anything other than Gods will, no matter how, they, uhm, came to be. I believe, with all my heart, that the love you and Callie have for each other, the love you have for Sofia, you were made to have more children in your life, you were both born to be moms, you have SO much love inside you, so much love to give and share. You, you lost a baby, and that made you scared to try again, your mom and I resigned ourselves that we would never see a blue eyed dimpled baby run around our back yard, but we didn't mind so much, because we had Sofia, and then you told us about the surrogate plan. So, we were happy. But, it seems, well it seems HE had bigger plans than you two did. Seems those dimples just have to be passed on huh? And I, I can't wait to meet my Grandchildren. All of them. ALL. Of. Them. I will love them all the same, because it doesn't matter to me who the daddy is…only matters to me who the mommas are!"

"I keep thinking I'm ok with it daddy. That it won't bother me who their daddy is. That I won't love them less than the baby Robyn is carrying because THAT child was planned and loved from the moment we started on the journey to have her. But these two" she rubbed her tummy and sighed, "these two are so unexpected. So, unexpected…."

"But they are yours Arizona. They are part of YOU. And because of that Callie will love them, so very much. And her parents will love them. Your mom and I will love them. And you know, you know as soon as you feel them kick, as soon as you start decorating the nursery and buying the onesies. Arizona, as soon as you set eyes on them... YOU will love them, with every fibre of your being. I know you sweetheart, I know the capacity you have for love, know how you care for the children of strangers. I can't imagine for one second that you could ever, ever, not love your own children with all your heart!"

She smiled weakly as she lay her head on his shoulder. "I know" she sighed, "I know. And, I DO love them already, I do. And I am so sure most of the time that I will love them the same way, I am so sure. But then, then I hear things like TWINS, and THREE babies, nannies , no sleep, no LIFE…and I get scared, real scared. And I feel as if my life is spiralling out of control, and I think about why, and it reminds me….reminds me what happened, what he, he did to me. And I feel a different kind of fear, and hatred, to him, and sometimes, sometimes…" she placed her hand on her tummy and sniffed as the tears threatened to flow. "Sometimes I feel resentment to them, before they have even been born. What kind of a mother does that daddy? What kind of a monster does it make me?"

Daniel chuckled as he kissed her cheek. "Baby, talk to Callie huh! I bet there were times when she was carrying Sofia that she felt a little resentment creeping in to, when she got tired half way through her day, when her feet started to swell and she couldn't wear heals anymore, when the smell of her favourite food made her sick. And you! You resented that Mark was part of your life, resented sharing decisions with him, resented that Callie would always have that connection with him, and he with Callie!"

"True!" she smirked

Daniel grinned as he pinched at one of his daughters dimples. "Now, with Sofia, you had a rather, dramatic start to life as a mom, as did Callie! She didn't have time to worry about lack of sleep or night time feeds, neither did you. But, think back. Even with Callie in hospital and Sofia hooked up to machines, from the moment that little girl entered this world, you willingly gave up every spare minute, spare second to be with that little girl. You loved her, unconditionally. Do you ever resent her? Did you ever resent her? And once you got her home, and got Callie home, the night feeds and the teething that kept you awake all hours, did you ever resent that huh? Huh?"

"No" Arizona smiled, "never. In fact, I loved it. I loved every second of being her momma!"

"You're still her momma, and you have a lot more hurdles to go with that young lady, a lot more sleepless nights, wait till she is a teenager. And with her looks…sheesh! Padlock her door now!"

"Daddy!" Arizona giggled

Daniel winked and cuddled her closer as he whispered. "It is natural to be scared baby, every new mom is. Your body is changing, your life is changing. It IS scary, But worth it. So very worth it"

"I love you daddy" she whispered

"I love you to pumpkin. But…I still wanna kill that sonofabitch!" He smiled as Arizona sat up and thumped his shoulder. "What?" he asked trying to look innocent. She didn't answer but instead put her head back on his shoulder and cuddled closer to him as he wrapped his arms tightly around her. They sat like that for several minutes before he noticed her body starting to relax. "Come on sweetheart, let's get you back upstairs and in to bed. Been a long day"

"'K" his daughter mumbled as he slowly stood, careful to keep her pulled tightly to him as he sensed she wasn't fully awake.

Together, they slowly climbed the stairs, Daniel nodding as Callie opened the bedroom door before he had a chance. "We had a cocoa" he explained as his daughter in law stepped forward and pulled Arizona into her arms, laughing gently as he heard his daughter murmur, "and cookies!"

"You let her have more sugar?" Callie asked with a pretend scowl

"Sorry!" Daniel replied, lifting his hands in surrender and backing away

"Daniel!" Callie called out softly as he turned to go into his own room

"Hmm?"

"I will look after her. I promise you. For the rest of my life, I will look after her"

Daniel smiled as he stepped quickly forward and kissed Callies cheek before reaching out to gently stroke it. "I know" he whispered. "I know. Goodnight Callie"

"Goodnight sir" Callie slowly closed the door and turned to look at her semiconscious wife who was leaning on the wall looking at her through lowered eyelids. "Come on sleepy head, let's get you back to bed huh" Callie wrapped her arm around the blondes waist and tried to steer her back to bed

"I love you!" Arizona whispered as she turned and wrapped both arms around Callie. "Do you know that?"

"I know" Callie grinned back. "And I love you to, so much"

Arizona stepped closer and reached up to pull Callie down into a slow leisurely kiss. "I mean, I REALLY really love you"

Callie chuckled as pulled back a fraction. "And you my darling, are punch drunk!"

"I am SO not drunk!" Arizona exclaimed indignantly. "I'm pregnant, can't have alcohol remember!"

"Nope!" Callie smirked as she kissed the blondes cute nose. "But you have had way too little sleep, and WAY too much sugar. Not a good combination for you my sweet!"

"I'm not tired!" came the whispered reply as Callie felt soft hands snaking under her vest top and skimming along her bare back. "In fact" came a very seductive whisper, "I am feeling very, VERY awake!"

"Sugar rush! Remind me to tell your dad off for that in the morning!" Callie giggled, then gasped as her wife found the place on her neck that had her knees nearly buckle. "Or thank him!" she gasped again as the soft warm tongue of her wife repeatedly licked the sensitive spot that it had found. "Arizona!" she gasped as she felt her resolve weakening. "Stop, oh…God…uh. Please, stop"

"Don't wanna!" came the muffled reply

"And I don't want you to either, believe me!" Callie sighed. "BUT, one of us has to…uh…uhm….have ssss…..ssss…some common sense!"

"Uh huh"

""Arizona!" Callie took a deep breath and stepped back out of her wifes embrace

"Callie!" Arizona went to step forward, gasping in shock when the love of her life put her hand up and held her back against the wall. "What? Callie!" she growled in frustration

"Make you a deal" the brunette said as she struggled to get her own breathing back under control. "We, we both get back into bed, now…and…and HOLD each other for ten minutes, and IF you are still awake, I will make, slow, amazing toe curling love to you. Deal?"

"Five minutes" Arizona said as she stepped into her wifes arms and smirked "I'd have to be half dead to be able to lie next to you for ten minutes and not make a move!"

Callie chuckled and hugged the blonde, gently kissing the top of her head before manoeuvring her to the edge of their bed and starting to quietly remove her prosthesis, their eyes locked on one another as they smiled and let their hands gently catch each other in soft contact. With another chuckle Callie slowly turned Arizona around and pushed her back into their bed before climbing in next to her and pulling the duvet over them. "Night baby!" she whispered wrapping her arms around the smaller woman and instantly feeling the soft body relax. With another soft chuckle she heard the unmistakable soft snort her wife always gave before falling into a deep sleep and whispered. "I love you" before falling into a deep sleep herself.
