36 I'm Screwed

HI. I know, I'm terrible with posting. I promise to be better in the coming weeks when I finish school until September. So here is a crap load of fluff. Actually a lot of fluff happens in a lot of these chapters bacause in the 'master plan' of things I take all happiness away.

Thanks for the reviews: Currahee506 (Baby stuff... thats a good guess.), Iceglaze of Thunderclan (Generally when people review I respond. I will try to keep up the having fun while writing thing.), JustAnotherFairy (Oh yes, poor dead guy. Thanks for laughing and enjoying!), Sapphire Roz (They are quite cute. And I don't know many people who don't love Deadpool.), person D (Haha, well, he might be dead but I promise Gwen will not have the same fate here.), and Princess of Paris (I am happy someone likes the conversations between me and Deadpool. Thank you for noticing Agents of SHIELD references.)

Also... If you have seen Agent Carter... there may be an obvious reference in here... just saying.

And I think because next chapter is a long chapter I need 8 reviews and I will post right away.

"Question."

"Yes Alyssa?" Steve looked at me from his spot on the couch suspiciously.

"Do you want to know?" I ask as I inspect my bump. "Boy or girl?"

"I already told you and all the other avengers and Coulson. I don't care as long as the baby is healthy and happy."

"I meant as in do you want to know the gender. Doc said we could probably find out next week."

Steve shrugged. "Didn't think about it. You want to know?"

"I think it might be smart. Mentally and stuff-wise we could prepare."

"What do you mean mentally prepare?" Steve snorted. "Is our child going to send us to therapy?"

"I was thinking the other way around."

"Funny Aly. We will not mentally scar our kids."

"All parents do that. Job requirement."

"How would we mentally prepare?"

"Well… if we had a son and he wanted to be exactly like you and had my love of doing reckless things…"

"Okay I get the point. Mentally prepare to deal with mini you's and me's."

"Exactly."

"If you think we should find out, then we will."

"Thank you for seeing it my way." I smile as Steve goes back to his drawing. "This way if the kid's a girl you can mentally prepare for the little version of me."

When I said that Steve broke his pencil and groaned. "That happens I'll probably have to keep an eye on her in her teens… you know when you're acting cute now. A littler version of you might be just as bad."

"Alright, would you like to find out the gender of your baby?" The doctor asked Steve and I.

"Yes please." I nod. Steve held my hand and lightly squeezed it in anticipation.

"Congratulations. You're having a baby girl." The doctor informed us.

"Thanks! Oh my gosh! That's so cool! Right Steve? Steve?" I look over to Steve.

Steve is completely frozen.

"Um… Steve?" I ask as I poke his cheek. "Did we break you?"

"A girl…"

"Yes Steve. We are having a girl. Do you have to say that every time you look at my stomach?" I ask as Steve is blatantly staring at me as I sit on the couch.

"Still amazing. We are having a little girl." Steve sat beside me.

"As you've said. Over nine times now."

"You were right. Not mentally not prepared for this."

"Neither am I Steve. Neither am I."

"I bet you'll look like your momma." Steve whispered to the baby as he leaned towards my stomach. I can't complain about him doing that now. My excuse before was because she hadn't developed ears yet… now she's developed ears to some degree. Or I have just gotten soft and I'm letting Steve do it. But let's go with the first idea.

Wow… now instead of 'it' or 'baby' I can say 'her' or 'she'. Weird.

"Stop being ridiculous Steve."

"It's not a bad thing if she looks like you. You're the most beautiful woman I know."

"One, stop being sappy. Two, are you going to talk non-stop to the baby? Because that's what I meant."

"Nope. Never."

"Is it going to get even worse when she starts kicking?"

"I make no promises."

"Isn't that my line?"

"You're rubbing off on me."

"At least you're not freaking out."

"Did you really think I'd freak out?"

"I honestly wasn't so sure."

"A baby girl Alyssa. We are having a little beautiful baby girl. I mean… I don't know much about girl stuff. But I think I'll be okay. I'll figure it out."

"Don't stress too much anyway. Odds are she will not be normal anyway. She's part me and you."

"No, but she'll be our perfect little princess."

"And already has you wrapped around her finger." I shake my head.

"And I wouldn't have it any other way."

"Oh boy, you are going to be a protective dad…" I roll my eyes knowingly.

"Considering what I do I think I have every right to be."

"What happens when she starts dating?" I ask.

"Not until she's twenty-five."

"Invalid. I'm twenty-five now."

"Twenty-one. And an all girls school."

"What if she's super smart like me? She would be a college student in her teens."

"Are you trying to kill me? I don't want to think about our daughter dating yet!" Steve groaned.

"Its inevitable Steve."

"Background checks, supervised dates, nine o'clock curfew, GPS on her cell phone…"

"Oh gosh… kid you have one over protective dad." I rub my stomach. "And seriously? How bad are you? Supervised dates? You cannot supervise a date!"

"You're right. That would make me an uncool dad. But I can get Barton and Romanoff to do it!"

"I feel bad for our daughter already…"

"Do you think we can do that?"

"Alyssa, I know I can do that. I don't think you can."

"Steve, we know spies and Pepper. That is why I'm concerned with our ability to keep secrets."

"If you want to keep the gender of our kid a secret we can. I just think you'll end up telling Tony." Steve laughed good-naturedly.

"You might too. Tony could bully you into it."

"I hope not. I think I will be fine Alyssa. Have a little faith in me."

"Have a little faith in me too. I won't say a word."

"And why do I have a feeling everyone will know by the end of the day?"

"Morning Dad." I greet as I enter the lab.

"Hey Alyssa. Anything new?"

"Oh nothing." I shrugged nonchalantly.

"That sounded suspic…"

"I'm having a girl! Oh… oops. We were gonna keep that a secret… and that didn't last long."

"DAMN IT ROGERS! How is it you are so much faster?" Sam whined as he tried to catch his breath. Once again Sam had basically attempted to keep up with Steve and Bucky during a run. It was impossible.

"I –for once- agree with Sam. Even I could barely keep up with you today." Bucky noted not at all out of breath.

"Guess I have extra energy today." Steve smiled brightly. "Might as well use it."

"You should be saving it. Not too much longer and your life will be demised to sleepless nights and a tiny human thinking 'you're not mom' about you." Sam teased.

"When you put it like that, it makes me glad Nathan doesn't call me 'not mom.'" Bucky laughed.

"Thanks guys, nice to know you think my daughter will reduce me to 'not mom.' That's really reassuring."

"Wait… daughter? Dude!" Sam gawked.

Bucky just started to laugh. "Good luck Steve. You hardly know what to do with the one girl you have!"

"And now I'll be in trouble."

"Good afternoon Clint and Natasha, what can I do for you?" I ask as the pair come into my lab.

"You have the new widow bites Alyssa?" Natasha inquired as Clint started taking selfies with an old camera pen from the forties. I think Tony's dad made it or something.

"I do. As good as new as I promised." I smile as I passed the assassin the weapons in a box.

"Thanks, hey, you saw Stark this morning right?"

"Yeah, why? What he do in the three hours since I left?" I ask concerned and suspiciously. Tony knew how to get into trouble in very short amounts of time.

"He was mumbling about there being another one? What is he talking about?" Clint said just before he almost breaks the camera pen.

"Another suit? I don't know."

"No… he said something about you. And we know you aren't getting a suit." Clint went on.

Then Natasha gave me a weird evaluating look. "I think I got It." she decided suddenly.

"What Nat?" Clint asked his assassin girlfriend.

"It's a girl." Natasha pointed to me.

"WHAT?" Clint whipped his head around to stare at me.

"In my defense, I told Steve you'd figure it out…" I sigh.

It was that afternoon Steve got the call. Steve did have the sense to wonder what it was Tony wanted with him. But he did not expect this.

"How's it going Cap…?" Tony said awkwardly to the super soldier.

"Fine… and you?" Steve said equally awkwardly.

"Good… good…"

Then silence filled the room.

"So you asked me here for?" Steve asked for elaboration.

"Um… Alyssa let it spill. And I wanted to see how you were doing with that." Tony clarified.

"I figured she wouldn't be able to keep it a secret from you."

"Yeah… she seems excited."

"She is. We both are."

"But you are nervous as hell." The billionaire said knowingly.

"Understatement of the year Stark." Steve laughed nervously.

"Come on, I know you can't get drunk but this feels like the sort of thing people drink over." Tony started to walk over towards his fully stocked bar.

"What exactly are we drinking over Tony?" Steve followed Tony and sat at the bar.

"The fact I know about what's coming for you. A first I feel like. Me giving you wisdom."

"Oh god…"

"Be honest, how do you really feel about a little girl?" Tony pointed to Steve.

"Happy mostly. Scared. This is new for me."

"That sounds right. You want to protect her from everything that could hurt her even a little bit, right?"

"Right. And I already know no boy will ever be good enough…"

"Now you understand how I feel about you…"

"Ignoring that comment and continuing." Steve rolled his eyes.

"Okay, I promise for this conversation that I will not make another comment." Tony said as he passed Steve a drink.

"I'll hold you to that." Steve said before he took a drink of whatever alcohol Tony decided to give him.

"The point is, I know where you're coming from. When I found out Lily was going to be a girl I freaked out. I would have freaked out if it was a boy but it's just… I know how I could bond with a boy. Take him into the shop… later he could help with cars or suits or something. I could even try the sport thing. But girls are… princesses, flowers, fairies, tea parties and I was out of my league."

"But Lily does like going into the shop with you. And you know how to do that. I can't. I can't build robots or know anything about technology. The only movie involving princesses I have seen since waking up was Beauty and the Beast and it was with Lily. Alyssa has everything covered. I'm at a lost."

"Trust me, no matter what your kid is into, you are going to be that kid's favorite toy. Lily just likes climbing on you. You play with your kid."

"Why are you being nice and giving me advice anyways?"

"Because I am officially stuck with you."

"Real reason. Does Tony Stark have a soft spot for Captain America?" Steve teased.

"Maybe really very deep deep deep deep deep deep down I have respect for you. And that is about as far as it goes."

"And very deep deep deep deep deep deep down I have respect for you too Tony."

"So everyone found out by the end of the day. You called it Steve." I sigh as I sit beside him on my side of the bed.

"It was going to happen anyway. No one we know can really keep secrets from one another."

"Coulson called to congratulate us. He knew within a half an hour of Clint and Natasha knowing."

"Not surprised to be honest. What's with the notebook?" Steve asked referring to the small notebook in my hands.

"Well, we know it's a girl now. I was thinking up some possible names during lunch. They are in no particular order."

"May I see?"

"Of course." I pass him the notebook.

"Not the first one." Steve vetoes immediately.

"Why not?"

"We are not naming our daughter after a character from Harry Potter!"

"Hermione is a perfectly fine name!"

"Its great, but I don't think we should name our children obviously after fictional characters."

"Buzz kill. Fine. No names obviously after characters." I pass Steve a red pen.

"Thank you. So I'm crossing off Hermione and Leia."

"Curse you and you catching up on pop culture."

"And don't think I didn't catch the names River, Buffy and Willow on there."

"How the hell did you catch River?!"

"Jimmy told me about her as a character from Firefly."

"True, mind you that's also a character on Doctor Who too…"

"It's off the list."

"You're no fun Steve. Fine, what are your ideas?"

"Barbra is nice?" Steve offered.

"Then it sounds like we're naming her after Bobbi. Can we stay away from names that are or sound like the names of people we know?"

"Alright, fair. What do we name the little princess then?"

"I don't know you vetoed half of my ideas."

"You vetoed my idea."

"Because we are not naming our child after one of our friends. I love them, but I don't love them that much."

"But we could make a suggestion to name our baby after someone."

"Yes. And we will not be taking any suggestions from Tony, Clint, Jimmy, Thor or any other male we know."

"Sounds smart."

"And no old lady names. If it sounds like it belongs to a grandma its out of the question." I look at Steve sternly.

"Why are you looking at me like I am already guilty of that?"

"Because you are the one out of the both of us that would do that."

"How are we going to decide on a name then? We may never end up agreeing on anything."

"Flip a coin. Heads I pick first name, you pick middle name. Tails you pick first name I pick middle name. After that we get one veto each."

"Diplomatic of you Aly. You flip or me?" Steve said as he started to search for a quarter.

"You do it. I don't want to get up, or more accurately baby girl doesn't want me to get up. We're both comfy now." I say as I snuggle further into the covers.

"Fair enough." Steve laughed once he found a quarter and tossed it into the air.

"What it land on?"

"Tails."

"Well… then. Don't pick something stupid Steve."

Next Chapter: Hydra messes things up because they do that.
