Chapter 36 - Underground Racing League
We raced back to the garage Desmond winning the race and me following somewhere in the middle as I was deep in thought for most of the race.
"Hell yeah who's the best." Desmond yelled out.
"Definitely not you." Humphrey replied.
"But I have beaten you, didn't I?"
"Yes you may have." Humphrey replied and they continued to argue while me and Melissa went to watch TV, and as we turned the TV on Kate run to us gathering us all.
"Hey guys I've got some great news, the sponsors were so thrilled with your performance that he signed you up for Underground Racing League, where the most elite drivers meet." She said in an excited voice.
"That's some great news!" Garth said.
"When is that race?" Humphrey asked breaking away from his argument with Desmond.
"Next URL starts soon, I suggest we head to the racetrack now." Kate said walking to the cars the rest following.
"Wait there is a race track?" Desmond asked.
"Yeah, the Underground Racing League only takes place in two places, the racetrack or the airport." She replied getting into her Nissan and rest of us getting into our cars as well and starting them up and heading out.
"So what exactly is URL for? I know it's a place for elite drivers" I asked.
"Well Underground Racing League was actually started by sponsors such as HKS or ROJA, mainly visual parts or performance parts manufactures. They set it up to advertise their companies; they hire the most elite drivers for that or crews. That's not all the winner gets a huge cash and reputation, and I don't know how it went in your town but here reputation is the most important, it doesn't matter how you win but how much you win, and URL are great for reputations, the reputation allows you to get better stuff like better cars, they are mostly given by sponsors anyway." As she finished we arrived at the race track and parked our cars in the parking lot and got out.
"So more rep better stuff and URL are great for it and also massive cash boost. Well the whole reputation is the same as back in Olympia." I said as we approached a wolf wearing a suit and a clipboard.
"Name?" he asked.
"The Dark Dragons crew." Kate said and the wolf checked the clipboard and nodded and let us pass, as we looked around we saw many different teams and lone-wolf type drivers we went up to the shop to get something to drink and we walked pass a white with violet eyes she-wolf wearing, black leather coat and black trousers. As she walked by Garth followed her move and stopped dead in tracks, she must've noticed and giggled slightly and then came up to us.
"Lilly?" Kate asked.
"Kate? It's good to see you again sis." The white wolf whose name was Lilly replied.
"Yeah it's been a while, didn't expect you to be here."
"Yeah well, my crew had some races today, we were going now anyway so good timing. And who are the new guys?" Lilly asked.
"These are the Champs from the north, The Dark Dragon." She said.
"I'm Chris the leader of this crew and this is Melissa, Humphrey, Desmond" As I said everyone's name they shook hand with Lilly "and…"
"Garth, pleasure to meet you." He said as he shook Lilly's and looked deep into her eyes as she looked into his and they stayed there until Kate interrupted them.
"Oh sorry." Garth said as he was blushing with Lilly, thanks to Garth fur colour it wasn't that visible.
"No, no it's fine." She said in a sweet voice.
"I'm sorry to interrupt your love-at-first sight scene but you have a URL to race" Kate said and it made both Garth and Lilly blush even more.
"Yeah we better get moving if we don't want to get DQued." Desmond said.
"Lilly you can watch if you want." Kate said and we went to the cars.
"Sure, I would love to." She said as she and Garth went side by side.
"Well the URL has a limit of four people per team, so you need to decide who's going." Kate said.
"I don't mind sitting out." Humphrey said.
"Are you sure, Humphrey?" I asked him.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure might just watch and relax." He said.
"Fine suit yourself, so it's me, Melissa, Desmond and Garth. Ok let's get on the start line." I said as I got into my car and drove off to the start line.
