I'm so sorry about the long wait. I've been going through a lot over the extended amount of time that I have not updated.

I want to thank my faithful reviewers for helping me get through this long story, lol :D

I love you all. Thank you again for not giving up on me.

Onward to the story..

Kagome was running as fast as her legs could carry her back to the campsite. She was sweating profusely by now, and her limbs were trembling. She hoped that this would not kill her.

She finally stumbled upon her friends, clutching her chest as she fell to her knees.

Sango fell beside her.

"Kagome! What's the matter? What's wrong?!"

Kagome was shaking so bad, the words could not form in her mouth. She stopped and took a big breath, making her nerves calm down as well.

"Sesshomaru. He's badly injured."

Miroku spoke up then, "We knew he had been wounded, but we thought he was alright, he didn't show any signs of pain."

Kagome nodded her head, "Well, he wouldn't would he."

Sango rubbed Kagome's semi trembling shoulder, "What are we to do Kagome?"

"I'm not entirely sure; I don't have any of my supplies. And we can't take him to a human village, what if he wakes up, that would be awful."

"How far is the well from here Miroku?" Sango asked the Houshi.

"I'm not sure."

A silence fell over the group, tension hung thick in the air. They all felt completely helpless, none of them had adequate medical experience to help the daiyoukai.

"We'll take him to Kaede."

Sango and Miroku didn't respond for a moment, they took in the Miko's words, not knowing if that would be a good idea or not.

"She's the only one with enough knowledge of these things to help him. I don't have enough control over my healing powers to help him. I would probably end up purifying him. Please, this is the only way."

Her friends sighed and nodded in agreement.

Kagome realized she had wasted enough time talking and got up to go back to Sesshomaru. Sango and Miroku quietly packed up the camp, careful not to wake the sleeping child.

"Kilala," Sango called her friend.

The fire cat bounded up to her, gently rubbing her leg.

"Please take Kagome back to Sesshomaru. And afterwards please come back to get Miroku and I."

The small cat nodded and suddenly transformed.

Kilala nudged Kagome's back getting her attention.

Kagome smiled and softly stroked her fur. She looked over at Sango and smiled at her.

"Thank you Sango, and thank you Kilala."

She climbed onto the fire cat and sucked in air as they descended into the sky.

"He isn't far from here."

It took them five minutes to get to Sesshomaru.

Kagome gasped at the state he was in now. His pant leg was now completely soaked with blood.

She jumped off Kilala and skidded to a halt beside Sesshomaru.

"P-Please go back to get the others Kilala." She told her frantically, trying to gently maneuver the cloth away from the injury.

The fire cat descended into the sky.

Kagome worked in haste, ripping his pant leg, the festering wound was starting to take on a terrible smell. It made her stomach churn and leaning to the side she dry heaved until her stomach burned.

The demon was completely unconscious by this point. Kagome put her ear to his chest and she could faintly make out a light beat. She breathed a sigh of relief but knew things were not looking good for the Daiyoukai.

"Kagome!"

She looked up to see Sango fly off of Kilala and stop beside herself and Sesshomaru.

"How is he doing?"

Kagome bit her lip, "Well, he isn't dead. Not yet anyway."

Sango nodded her head and looked down sadly at the young woman. So much misery, in so little time.

"How are we going to get everybody there?"

Sango sighed and looked at the big group.

"Miroku and Shippo will go together. You can hold onto Kaya with Sesshomaru."

Kagome looked up at Sango and nodded her head.

"Miroku, we'll need your help getting him on Kilala. He's quite heavy."

"Kagome, hold Kaya, and we'll get him on. You've strained your body enough today."

"I'll be alright to help Sango, really."

"Kagome, please! I do not want you straining yourself."

The Miko sighed and took the sleeping child from Miroku. She smiled down at the infant, never getting enough of how beautiful she was.

It took 20 minutes of lugging and swearing for them to finally get the demon lord strapped to the back of Kilala. The fire cat growled at the access weight on her back. Kagome felt bad at what she was putting her friend through. She honestly didn't know how all of them were going to pile on the cat.

"Sango, I don't want to put all this weight on Kilala. Won't it hurt her?"

Sango shook her head.

"She'll be alright; I've put three men on her back before. She's a trooper, aren't yu girl?" She rubbed the cat's ears, eliciting a purr.

"Alright Miroku, Shippo, the village shouldn't be too far away from here."

The trip took 30 minutes. 30 very long dread filled minutes.

Sesshomaru had almost woken up on more than one occasion; he had also started to move around, growling low in pain.

Kagome prayed to kami that he would be okay.

That they all would be okay.

Finally after having more than one panic attack, they finally descended to the small village.

Walking Kilala to Kaede's hut the old woman suddenly emerged, her face showing concern.

"What happened to him?" She questioned, looking him over quietly.

"He, we, he has been injured." Kagome figured she'd save the very lengthy story for another time.

"His injury is by his ankle, " the young miko told Kaede.

Kaede peeled back his pant leg and gasped at the festering wound.

"We have to get it cleaned out or the infection will spread up his body. Since he's a demon, it will spread faster; his poison will work against him."

Kagome gasped, knowing his fate if they didn't get his ankle healed.

"H-He could die?"

Kaede sighed and softly nodded her head.

The breath felt like it wasn't getting into Kagome's lungs fast enough, she felt like she would hit the ground.

Sango must have seen the look on her face; she stepped forward and quickly grabbed Kaya from Kagome's arms. Miroku moved to stand behind the young girl, taking her arm.

"Come on Kagome. You need to rest. We'll leave Sesshomaru to Kaede."

"I need to stay with him," she said to him softly, feeling extremely weak.

"Kagome. You need to sleep; you've been through quite the ordeal as well." Sango said to her, in her most demanding voice.

Kagome went inside the hut and lay down on the mat beside the door.

"K-Kaya," she said.

"Sango will look after her. She will need a wet nurse to be fed."

Kagome couldn't keep her eyes open. She was falling fast.

"M-Miroku," she whispered.

He turned to her, "Yes?"

"Please, if something goes wrong with Sesshomaru, promise to wake me?"

He smiled, and nodded, "Of course."

It felt like days before Kagome finally managed to open her eyes. God, she must have died again in her sleep.

She awoke to little mewls of laughter beside her.

Looking over she found Shippo playing with Kaya on the ground. She grinned and slowly sat up, catching the fox child's attention.

"Kagome! You're up!"

He lunged at her and hugged her tightly.

"S-Shippo." She hugged him back affectionately.

"Sesshomaru is doing a lot better Kagome. Kaede got all the infection out of his ankle."

Kagome sighed in relief and thanked kami for answering her many prayers.

"Kaya is so cute Kagome. She is such a quiet baby. Miroku and Sango are asleep in the separate hut, they were really worn-out."

"I bet they were. How long have I been asleep Shippo?"

He looked at her and counted on his fingers, "Uh, one, two, three days."

"Holy crap! That long!"

He nodded, going back to playing with the baby.

"Shippo, I'll be right back okay? I'm going to check on things with Sesshomaru, when I get back, let's go for a walk into town."

He beamed and nodded.

Kagome walked into the hut that housed Sesshomaru, it lay near the outskirts of the town, encase he were to resort to demon mode. This way the inhabitants were safe.

Kaede was sitting beside the demon slathering on some herbs.

"Hello child." She said to the young woman.

"Hello, how is he doing Kaede?"

The old woman looked up at her. "He will live."

"Kaede, why wouldn't his poison heal his wound?"

The old priestess continued to apply the herb to his ankle. It looked much better, it was still red, but it wasn't festering anymore.

"His poison stopped from helping him because he had different poison mixed in to it. His lack of producing more venom was actually keeping him alive. The new venom in his body was stronger than what he has naturally."

"It's still in his bloodstream?"

Kaede nodded her head.

"He has a rough couple days ahead of him Kagome. It's best if you distance yourself from him. His beast is sure to slip out to help fight the infection. I've put wards around this hut, specifically for that reason."

Kagome sighed and rubbed her temples.

"I know it's a lot to handle Kagome, but he will be fine. He just needs to heal fully now."

Nodding her head, she glanced one more time at the DaiYoukai. In sleep, he looked so peaceful.

"I'm applying a mushroom called Reishi to his wound once every four hours. It's seems to have helped a great deal. I'm also applying other herbs to his wound."

"You should give him some of that medicine I left you Kaede, it will help fight off his fever."

Kaede nodded.

"We have much to discuss Kagome." The old woman said, smiling at her.

Kagome smiled as well, feeling light again, "Yes, we do."

I'm so sorry for the long wait!
