Soleanna was glowing with kinetic energy. Her eyes no longer resembled her father's, but shone green, the same as her mother. She used her super speed and flight to lunge at her brother, very intent on killing him. He put up a shield of pure force, any part of her power disabling if it broke through. She was confused, but only realized that it cut off her kinetic energy. She touched him, his face, and her mother's powers kicked in instantly. He may have been immune to telepathy, but he couldn't manipulate his memories when they were being stolen from him. His powers, his memories, his identity, his life, all became her. She could see in his eyes that he was dying, but she found it strange that he had a smile on his face. She let him go, and he fell to the ground, weak. Sole's mind was swimming in his head, the sight before her disappearing completely...

...

I could hardly remember my own parents. I know my father had very unique eyes, and my mother a kind and caring nature. I had a sister, a very timid and happy one. I wanted to do nothing but protect her from anything evil. I remember a bug had landed on her, and the horrible thing bit her. I shooed that bug away, and never let another one land on her. That was the last day I ever saw her, before I was taken away.

I didn't understand why I couldn't be with my family, why they hadn't come to get me. I was sure that my parents loved me, sure that they would never let this happen. But it did, and I had no way of letting them know I wanted to come home, asking them why they left me here. I woke up in the labs, one place I had always known as home. But none of it felt right. My room was padded and a very bright white. It was the only place I knew for a while, food being brought to me by faceless people. I only spoke when someone different finally came into my room.

"Why am I here?" I asked the man in the white coat.

"We saved you," he answered simply.

"Saved me from what? I want to go home!"

"But Lune, your parents don't want you, why else do you think we saved you?"

I was shocked, couldn't believe that this is what happened. I didn't remember them like that at all, I remember the look of love they always held for my and my sister. There was no way they just gave me up like that, but I was scared, and didn't want anyone to hurt me. If these people really saved me, then why was I stuck in this room? There was no way to know.

Days would go by, and they had finally let my out of my room. I was able to play, some people there providing for me, a few other children, ones that I haven't seen ever again. I never knew what happened to them. But at some point, I got older, and I would sleep a lot. Every time I woke up, I'd be strapped to a table, people in lab coats surrounding me. The lights were always too bright to make out their faces. I wasn't in any pain, but I can't be sure of what they were doing to me. Finally, I woke up in my room, and I knew that something had happened to me. I don't know how long it had been, but I couldn't be more than eight years old. I left my room, someone leaving the door unlocked, and I found the man who first came to see me.

"Where are my parents?" I asked him, wondering what had happened and why.

"They aren't coming for you Lune, I already told you that," he replied nastily.

"Who are they?" I couldn't even remember them, just their faces.

The man took me to a different part of the lab, and there I watched video after video. Remy and Anna LeBeau, my parents. I learned that there were mutants in this world, and that my parents were two of the most powerful. A band of them fought together, called the X-men, and it was then I discovered their roots. I knew where my parents were from, what they could do and how they got together. I was shocked to see what they were. Heroes.

"My parents were X-men?"

"That's right."

"They seem to be fighting for good reasons."

"Your parents are nothing but thieves. Your father is the King of Thieves, and your mother is even worse. She steals the very essence of whoever she touches."

"That's why they didn't come for me..."

"That's right Lune. They never cared for you, that's why we took you from them."

"What about my sister?"

"Don't worry Lune. When we get a chance, we'll get her for you."

I was relieved to hear that they were going to get my sister out of a loveless family. I wanted to keep her from knowing the same sort of pain I was going through. I was abandoned by the people who were supposed to love me the most, and there was no one here who could help me with that. But I wouldn't let my sister go through it, not if there was something I could do to help.

I lived happily here for a few years. I had everything I wanted, but I still never felt right after being strapped to those tables. I remember making a glass explode, I was angry about something, and that's when it was explained to me about my mutation, that I was also a mutant. My power was unstable, however, and they had to pump more of their fluids into my veins. But it enhanced everything I could do. I learned that I was immune to telepathy, something I inherited from my father. I could also change my shape, but what the lab had really given me, was a way to turn off any mutant power for so long as I desired. The very air we breathe was my weapon, and they taught me how to utilize it to the best of my ability. There was no stopping me by the time they were done.

And then they finally fulfilled the promise they made me. I woke up and went into the labs, and there was my sister. I also saw my parents, and the one man who was always with us. But I was more focused on my sister. What did I care for people who never bothered to try and find me? For people who didn't want me? Screw them, I was finally getting my sister back. She was so much older than I remembered, strapped down to a table. She looked like she was in pain, and I never wanted that. I had to protect her from pain. I walked with the man towards her, wanting to get a better look at her.

"What's your name?" he asked her.

"S-Soleanna," she replied weakly. Her eyes could barely open, I frowned.

"The daughter of Remy and Anna?"

"Yes."

"Are you a mutant?"

"Yeah."

"Why are you asking her all those questions?" I demanded of him. I didn't want them to continue to hurt her.

"To make sure our medicine is working."

"Is she sick?"

"Sort of. We're trying to remove all the damage your parents did to her."

I narrowed my eyes, "They hurt her?"

"Not exactly. When you're older, you'll understand."

But I didn't want to wait, I wanted my answers now. I was shooed out of her room, and back into my own. I waited there for a couple of days, excited that I was finally going to have my sister back. But what was taking so long? Surely it didn't take this long with me? It was pure luck that my door was unlocked once more. I crept towards the labs, noting that there wasn't a single person there. My sister was still trapped on the table, as well as the rest of my family. They were focused on my mother and my sister, my father and the man I knew to be called my uncle hardly there at all. They were unconscious, and I wanted to know what was going on.

It seemed fate was on my side that day, because no one was around for me to get into their computer system. And that is when I learned everything I needed to know. These people had planned on taking me, they wanted my because of who I was. And all their experiments were useless on me, they had no need after they realized I did not carry what they wanted, my parents powers into one. But there was one thing I did understand about my sister that no one else seemed to. That she didn't hold our parent's powers, she was just easily able to adapt and make any power she desired happen.

I dug further, realizing that they were expecting my sister long ago, but no mention of me. A mutant named Soleanna, same name and appearance had traveled back in time to stop her horrible future from happening. And this band of non mutants watched and waited for Remy and Anna to create that child again, since the mutant in question was gone once she had accomplished her mission. Things were different then, the future still turned out the same because of the great power she showed. But these non mutants took me, because they assumed that I would have the dominate power.

It was then I finally figured out why i was here. I was a paradox, not supposed to exist. The Soleanna of the future had failed, and it resulted in my birth. I did not hold the powers they wanted because I was not supposed to be born in the first place. I had never seen the world outside until I found it all in this computer. For years, I had been trapped in this lab, and I finally knew the true purpose of those actions. But knowing my fate, knowing that I was not supposed to exist, I couldn't let anyone help me try and save this world. I did not want anymore to be treated as horribly as my family was, I loved them too much for that. Everything I came to know was a lie, and I had to help them.

I spend the next few days locked in my room. I had to devise a plan, and quickly. The longer I stayed here, the longer they would continue to be hurt and used. They weren't even treated with any dignity, they were lab rats. No one deserved a fate like that, and I was not going to allow my sister to stay in that state. I had to do something. I knew that the Soleanna of the future, the whole reason this started had happened because of time travel. I also knew of only one mutant that could pull it off, his files locked away. They wanted this mutant very badly, and I knew that I would be able to find him. There was only one way to do this.

I used my shape shifting mutation to become one of the simple minded lab rats. I had full access to the room, and thankfully, knew everything there was to know about the X-men. There was only one way to make this work, and it was to free Wolverine. His rage would cause a ruckus, meaning that there would be no attention on me. He was hardly awake, and I knew which liquid he would need to be coherent. While administering this, I used that time to loosen one of his restraints. His super mutant healing factor would help him faster than my father's, all I had to do was wait.

I wasn't waiting long. Still in my disguise, Wolverine had crashed through the labs, freeing Rogue, Gambit and Soleanna. I watched on the security tapes, the three of them fighting. I would have to do something if they were captured again, but if they were really the X-men I had come to know, there would be no need. And I was lucky that there wasn't. I was shocked to see that Rogue had flown back in. What was she thinking? Why had she gone back? My mind wanted to believe that she was coming for me, that with her powers, she stood more of a chance. And it was only a year later that I knew I was right. My uncle had also stayed behind, to give my father and my sister a chance to escape.

I had to intervene at that point. There was no way Wolverine could take them all on their own. I disguised myself again as a mutant that didn't actually exist. I helped him escape, though I do not think he even remembers my presence. I did, however, know of a safe haven quite far from here. Taking my uncle, I was able to easily carry him and drop him off where Forge would find him. If my sister had any chance of surviving out there, it would be in those labs. I returned to my room, only to find the door was completely ripped off. My mother was looking for me. I sometimes wonder if things would be different if I had actually been there.

But it wouldn't matter anyway. I had to be found so that they didn't figure out that I had led the escape. Now that I knew what they were up to, it was easy to figure out how to get around them. I figured out they had captured my mother, and I'd have to rescue her again. The only way she was going to leave, was if she realized that I was no longer here. Security was tight after the break out, I had no choice but to bide my time.

It was nearly a year before an opportunity finally arose. In that year, I had met up with Wolverine and the others, and they were safe at Forge's lab. He was working on time travel, to try and fix this. I understood exactly what he was doing, and how it needed to be done. Once I got Rogue out of here, I would be on my way to the past, to fix this mess and save this horrible world from its fate. The world outside was nasty, chaotic and depressing. I couldn't help but feel that I was the cause of all of it. But it was finally time, and I let Rogue out. When she unknowingly grabbed me, wondering where I was, I told her that I was released. She threw me against the wall, but I was easily able to stop my self from being slammed. Once she had left her rampage, I destroyed the labs. I knew that this was not the only one, but at least it was one that no longer could control other mutants.

I left the only home I never knew, a sham, and made my way in this chaotic and unforgiving world. I checked in on Forge's lab from time to time, to see how my family was doing. Rogue had not joined them, and it was a long time before I knew why. They had deliberately kept me away from her, but when I found another lab, instead of destroying it, I took over it and worked on the time machine. I succeeded four years earlier than Forge, and finally, I was ready to carry out my plan.
