Chapter 34
A week later and the investigation was still going on. The police still didn't have any close leads on who could have taken Zyon's soul. If it wasn't annoying enough in the first place, it was just damn ludicrous now. Seriously how hard is it to find even just one single lead? Hell is an incredibly large place but something really should have come up by now.
Anyway, it was just another day. Trying to figure out what to do. You'd think after being in Hell for quite a number of months now they would have established some routine, but no, that would be way too boring.
Looking for trouble in Hell though was the furthest thing on anybody's mind right now though. Well at least for the J Team, they could never tell with Daolon Wong and the demon sorcerers, but they hadn't done anything yet; wouldn't they have done something by now if they were going to?
Anyway, the enforcers and Hak Foo decided to spend the day in the training room. After seeing all the armies of Hell not too long ago they were suddenly inspired to stay in top shape. Okay, Hak Foo was already big and strong enough, everyone knew that, but Finn, Ratso, and Chow, not so much. In fact, I'm sure the J Team wouldn't be surprised if Hak Foo was kicking all their asses right now.
"Well, another boring day," Viper said.
"Si, this is all getting desmasiado loco," El Toro said.
"It could be worse," Paco stated. "We could be stuck in this room forever."
"I'd rather still be in jail then stuck in this room with all you pathetic mortals," Daolon Wong stated.
"Believe Uncle, the feeling is mutual," Uncle stated.
"If you hate it so much in here then why don't you simply leave?" Tohru questioned.
"Are you trying to tell me what to do?" Daolon Wong hissed.
"No, he was merely making a suggestion," Jackie stated.
"Like we would listen to the suggestions of a mere mortal," Bai Tza said.
"Tohru happens to be a full-fledged chi wizard," Uncle yelled.
"Like we care old man," Xiao Fung declared.
"Mind you that happens to be the same old man who banished you all back to the demon nether world a decade ago," Paco said.
"Silence boy," Shendu hissed.
"Yeah, whatever," Paco said getting up and heading toward the door.
"¿Paco, adónde vas?" El Toro asked.
"To Jade's suite," Paco replied.
"She's at work right now though," Jackie confirmed.
"Yeah, but she told me I could drop in before she gets back and hang out," Paco stated.
Before anyone else can ask him another question Paco was gone.
"Well, I don't want to be stuck in here all day," Jackie said. "I'm going to the library."
"Why the library?" Tohru asked.
"I want to do a little more research on the Opposition," Jackie replied.
"Jackie we promised the Dark King himself that we wouldn't go searching for members of the Opposition," Viper confirmed.
"I know," Jackie replied. "I just want to check, that book again though. I feel like there's something that we missed."
"I'm coming with you," Viper stated.
"Uncle's coming too," Uncle said. "Uncle would rather do research for nothing than stay in this room all day."
"I agree," Tohru added.
"You want to join us El Toro?" Viper asked.
"No thank you senorita," El Toro replied. "I think I will take a walk."
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
In the Library
When the J Team, minus El Toro and Paco, got to the library they were surprised to see Drago sitting at one of the library tables.
"What are you doing here junior?" Viper questioned.
"I don't see why that should be any of your business," Drago said looking up from the book he was currently reading.
"You just don't seem like the reading type," Viper deadpanned.
"Well, if we're gonna be stuck in Hell any longer might as well learn as much about it as possible," Drago replied.
"Alright, let's find that book," Jackie said changing the subject.
It took them a while but they finally found it.
They began looking through the pages talking about the Opposition when they noticed something strange in one of the rare images of the cult members.
"They all have the same tattoos on their wrist," Tohru pointed out.
He was right all the cult members in the pictures had a tattoo of a red eye with the kanji symbol for evil in the pupil crying tears of blood.
"Well, that's definitely not a design that someone would just get out of the blue," Viper stated.
"No it isn't," Jackie replied.
Suddenly the doors to library swung open and Amber was standing in the doorway gasping for air.
"They found one of them," she said.
"Found who girl?" Uncle questioned.
"A member of the Opposition," Amber said before sprinting away.
The others (including Drago), who probably just thought this would be interesting went off in the direction that she went in.
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
In the Throne Room
When the J Team and the demon sorcerers and Daolon Wong, who all heard Amber's less than quiet voice, made it to the doorway of the throne room they saw El Toro and Paco were standing there and when they tried to get through the guards blocked their path, telling them they weren't allowed to go any further.
They were still able to see the seen though. They saw Jade and her friends standing by the throne and a few feet away from the throne, being held to the ground by two guards was a bald Caucasian man, probably in his early 30s, with brown eyes, dressed in a black hoodie, blue jeans, and black and white sneakers.
"They told me he's a member of the Opposition," El Toro said. "I saw police officers struggle to get him when I went for a walk. I ended up intervening."
"This is fucking ridiculous," they heard the men yell. "Let me go."
"You have the tattoo," Violet said. "That's proof enough that you're with the Opposition."
"So what if I am?" The man said. "I haven't done anything illegal."
"That will be for me to decide," a voice suddenly said.
In from another room came the Devil himself. He sat on the throne and looked at the man being restrained by the guards.
"You carry the mark of the Opposition young man," the Devil confirmed focusing his gaze at the man's exposed left wrist. "What is your name?"
"Daxton, your majesty," the man said. "And I deny anything I have been accused of."
"So, you are saying you played no part in the theft of the late Prince Zyon's soul?" The Dark King questioned.
"I swear upon my life I didn't," Daxton stated. "I had heard of it happening, but I have not had contact with any other member of the Opposition in over a year."
"Laying low were you?" Jade questioned.
"I'm not that stupid," Daxton said. "I know how severe the consequences of stealing a soul is. I would never even think of stealing the soul of a royal family member."
"Even when he's also the son of one of your late leaders?" Jade pressed on.
"Jade," The Devil warned.
Jade stepped back. "Forgive me father."
The Devil then did something much unexpected to the J team and the demon sorcerers. He stepped down from his throne and approached Daxton.
"Look at me young man," the Devil commanded.
Daxton lifted his head so he was staring right into the Devil's eyes. After a minute of what looked like a staring contest the Devil turned and began to step a few feet away.
"This man tells the truth," he declared. "Release him."
Then he turned to look at Daxton again. "I am being merciful this time young man, but rest assure, if my law enforcement catches you up to any sort of suspicious or unlawful activity I will have you thrown in jail."
The guards grabbed a hold of Daxton again and left the throne room to escort him out of the palace. Jade ran off and disappeared through the nearest shadow with Mamoru following her.
Jade's friends moved toward the doorway and walked right past the J team and the demon sorcerers only for Dante to stop briefly to motion to Paco to follow them. Paco looked confused but after about few seconds of confusion we ran in the same direction that the reapers had just gone.
The demon sorcerers turned to leave as well, but the J Team just stood there in shock.
"Okay, what the hell just happened?" Viper questioned.
