Hey guys! I'm back with another chapter of Through Time and Space! I'm currently writing this just after I uploaded a chapter late. I'm sorry for that but college life. Well, I don't really have much to say. The YouTuber of the chapter is Garuku Bluemoon. I hope you guys have an amazing day!

Lazarus Experiment Part 3

We run to the ambulance to see the doors open and corpses all over the place. Lazarus is most definitely not dead.

"Lazarus, back from the dead. Should have known, really." The Doctor says as he pulls out his sonic screwdriver and starts scanning.

"Where's he gone?" Martha asks.

"That way. The church." He says pointing to the church near us.

"Cathedral. It's' Southwark Cathedral. He told me." Tish says joining us. We run inside the cathedral.

"Do you think he's in here?" Martha asks.

"Where would you go if you were looking for sanctuary?" The Doctor asks. We approach the altar slowly to see Lazarus, human, behind it shivering wrapped in a blanket.

"I came here before, a lifetime ago. I thought I was going to die then. In fact, I was sure of it. I sat here, just a child, the sounds of planes and bombs outside." Lazarus says.

"The Blitz." I say.

"You've read about it."

"Me and Kate were there." The Doctor says.

"You're too young." Lazarus says surprised.

"So are you." Lazarus laughs. You could hear awful cracking noises.

"In the morning, the fires had died, and I was still alive. I swore I'd never face death like that again, so defenseless. I would arm myself, fight back, defeat it."

"That's what you were trying to do today?" The Doctor asks.

"That's what I did today."

"What about the other people who died?"

"They were nothing. I changed the course of history." I was just starting to feel sorry for the guy.

"Any of them might have done too. You think history's only made with equations? Facing death is part of being human. You can't change that."

"No, Doctor. Avoiding death, that's being human. It's our strongest impulse, to cling to life with every fibre of being. I'm only doing what everyone before me has tried to do. I've simply been more successful."

"Look at yourself. You're mutating! You've no control over it. You call that a success?" The Doctor exclaims.

"I call it progress. I'm more now that I was. More than just an ordinary human."

"There's no such thing as an ordinary human." The Doctor says. Lazarus convulses again.

"He's going to change again any minute." Martha says.

"I know. If I can get him up into the bell tower somehow, I've an idea that might work." The Doctor says.

"Up there?" Martha asks pointing up.

"You're so sentimental, Doctor. Maybe you are older than you look." Lazarus says.

"I'm old enough to know that a longer life isn't always a better one. In the end, you just get tired. Tired of the struggle. Tired of losing everyone that matters to you. Tired of watching everything turn to dust. If you live long enough, Lazarus, the only certainty left is that you'll end up alone."

"That's a price worth paying."

"Is it?"

"I will feed soon."

"I'm not going to let that happen."

"You've not been able to stop me so far."

"Leave him, Lazarus! He's old and bitter. I thought you had a taste for fresher meat." I say preparing to run.

"Kate, no." The Doctor says looking at me slightly horrified. Lazarus lunges for me, but I'm already running towards the bell tower.

"Doctor! The tower!" I yell towards him. I run up the staircase and get into a passageway. I look down and see the Doctor, Martha, and Tish. "Doctor!" I yell down to them.

"Take him to the top. The very top of the bell tower. Do you hear me?" He yells. He sounds terrified.

"Up to the top!" I yell back at him to let him know I heard what he said. "Then what?" I ask but then I see Lazarus heading my way. I had to keep going, so I start running again. I somehow make it up to the bell tower without Lazarus catching me. "Okay, Doctor. What are you going to do now?" Lazarus soon makes his way up but struggles to get where I am. Lazarus whips his tail which hits me causing me to fall off the walkway, but somehow, I'm able to hold on for dear life. I'm barely able to swing a leg up. I don't know how I did that. I guess it was pure adrenaline. Just as that happened, the bell goes off loudly causing Lazarus to crash to the ground below.

"Kate?" I hear the Doctor yell up to me. I'm just laying on the walkway hugging it trying to catch my breath.

"I'm okay!" I finally yell down to him. Once I catch my breath, I headed down. "I didn't know you could play?" I ask walking up to the Doctor.

"Oh, well, you know, if you hang around with Beethoven, you're bound to pick a few things up." The Doctor says.

"Hmm. Especially about playing loud."

"Sorry." He says wrapping an arm around me. "I thought I was going to lose you." He says pulling me into a hug.

"Nine lives remember." I say. After a while, we start heading back to Martha's flat. We still had to go there to get to the Tardis. The Doctor unlocks the Tardis as soon as we get inside the flat.

"Something else that just kind escalated, then." The Doctor says.

"I can see a pattern developing. You should take care in the future. And the past. And whatever other time period you find yourselves in."

"It's good fun, though, isn't it?"

"Yeah."

"So, what do you say? One more trip?"

"No. Sorry."

"What do you mean? I thought you liked it?" The Doctor asks confused.

"I do, but I can't go on like this. One more trip. It's not fair."

"What're you talking about?"

"I don't want to be just a passenger anymore. Someone you take along for a treat. If that's how you still see me, I'd rather stay here."

"Okay, then. If that's what you want."

"Right, but we've already said goodbye once today. It's probably best if you just go." Me and the Doctor don't move.

"What is it?" Martha asks turning back to us.

"What? I said okay."

"Sorry?"

"Okay." He says nodding towards the Tardis.

"Oh, thank you, thank you!" She exclaims hugging both of us. We both let out a chuckle.

"Well, you were never really just a passenger, were you?" We go inside the Tardis and leave. Of course, that's when I start glowing.

"Doctor." I say. He turns to me and pulls out a ring. He slips it on my finger and kisses the top of my head.

"Stay safe." I close my eyes and feel myself moving.

When I open my eyes...

I'm in a sort of cell.
