"Listen up recruits." Lieutenant Colonel Coats drawled.
"The base that we're going to hit has been responsible for many black market dealings in this sector. I'm talking weapons, defunct reaper tech and lord knows what else."
He tapped his omni-tool and a live feed of the exterior appeared. "The blue suns guarding the front have been partying up with booze and strippers for the past hour and a half. They won't see us coming. Any questions?"
Not a single soldier in the squad raised a hand, but Coats could see one shifting uncomfortably over to the left.
"Permission to speak freely?" the younger man asked. "Granted." Coats said flatly.
"With all due respect sir, I don't think the group of asari are strippers. It's an old Eclipse trick. See the tattoos on that one there?" he said as he pointed to a purple hued asari.
"Means she's an Eclipse sister. Illium chapter most likely. Coats gave the young soldier a critical look before checking his roster.
"Says here you're from Omega. Private...Whitson?" The recruit saluted. "Born and raised sir!" Before Coats could say anything else,
"Major!" one of the techs shouted. "Take a look at the screens!"
Coats turned in time to see one of the strippers put a biotically charged fist through a turian's head. The drunken Suns barely had enough time to react before the rest of them were quickly and violently dispatched.
"Orders sir?" Coats rubbed his chin thoughtfully and watched the screens for a few minutes before turning to his men.
"We still go in, but since the Eclipse are cleaning house on the Suns, we clean them. We'll try to take one in alive for questioning. I want to know why they want this base. Suit up."
The soldiers under his command hurried to finish gearing up, but he put a hand out to stop one. "Not you Whitson."
The young soldier looked confused, but Coats tried to reassure him with a smile.
"I want you to stay back and give the techies a few pointers about what to look for. The alliance needs any and every edge it can get right now."
What's that? An Update? The fic lives!
Yeah, I have to admit, writing dozens of minifics that are basically snapshots into what should be a wider story is a lot harder than I thought it was.
At least for me.
Couple that with life issues and a half a dozen other things and its been awhile since I've updated. Anyhoo, if any of my old readers are still about, thank you for sticking around! To anyone that hops on with this update, Hello, and I must warn you that I update infrequently.
One last note, while I haven't been updating these past several months, I have been working on 2 Mass Effect fics that I plan to start releasing soon. Making these little epilogues is fun, but the logistics gets to be time-consuming. I'm still going to finish this, but it's not going to be my main focus. I'm going to use this fic to take a break whenever I get stuck with these huge under wraps fics. My main focus will be getting these other two fics completed and then releasing them a chapter at a time once they're done. I hope y'all will enjoy. Until next time!
