Only a few days after the all-out assault on Dr. Eggman's fortress, the Prime Minister hadn't been feeling too good. While he did have a strong presence in the public eye - what with his announcement of the attack prior to it actually starting - he simply wasn't all that prevalent throughout. And there was a certain someone who the public seemed to appreciate more. In his home, himself and his aide, Jerome Wise, were discussing this situation.
"Fort of Eggman, Falls..." the aide read out from the newspaper he had been reading. "You're guaranteed to win the next election!"
"I'm not so sure," the Prime MInister replied, sighing in disappointment. "In the battle against Eggman, the real hero was Sonic."
Jerome quickly scanned over the two newspapers he had on him - all were littered with stories about how Sonic saved them all, how cool Sonic is, Sonic, Sonic, Sonic. Every inch of every newspaper in the vicinity had something to do with Sonic. Frantically trying to find a news source that did not cover the blue hedgehog, Jerome grabbed a TV remote and started flicking through the news channels using the TV on the wall. Just like the papers, Sonic was the main subject. Every single news outlet had something pertaining to Sonic.
"At this rate, Sonic will be elected Prime Minister!" the Prime Minister's aide exclaimed, becoming increasingly flustered with all the large focus on the blue Mobian.
The Prime Minister sighed. He couldn't believe it - he was being outshined by a hedgehog. An anthropomorphic hedgehog at that. Never would he have imagined this to happen.
"Don't be so ridiculous..." he organised a meeting between his palm and his face.
"I'm not joking!" Jerome contended, slamming his hands onto the desk angrily.
"There's no need to be so serious."
"But Michael…!" Jerome realised that something slipped out of his mouth. "Uh, sorry sir..."
"No, that's fine. We're friends and this isn't a formal meeting, so don't worry about sticking to formalities like that. Just try to refrain from doing that during actual, proper meetings."
Jerome nodded. He began pacing up and down the room, anxious to come up with some way to get his friend back in the public spotlight. An idea soon came to him.
"Let's host a 'The Destruction of Eggman's Base Celebration Charity Party'!" he suggested.
"That sounds a bit long winded. What's the point of it?"
"We're going to invite Sonic. We'll make him shake hands with you. The next day, all the news channels and papers will be filled with stories about you and Sonic. Your popularity will grow incredibly fast. You'd definitely be re-elected when the next election comes." Wise explained with an overconfident, triumphant grin. "In fact, I'll send him an invitation right now!"
Leaving, he was determined to get everything right. Both of their jobs were on the line. Michael - the Prime Minister - was then left alone to grief, unconfident in his aide's ability to successfully put plans to reality. If Jerome were to fail, then Michael would have to consider a new aide...
Luster the Cat: Season 1 Opening 3 (Sonic Drive - Sonic X, English) -
S-O-N-I-C, GO!
S-O-N-I-C, GO!
Go, go, go, go, LET'S GO!
Oh!
Woooooow!
I've been breaking the rules 'till yesterday
Now I just wanna break loose today
That's how I'll be!
Always running free!
With this punk philosophy,
That says to always dash away
Go towards the goal!
There's nothing better!
If my rhythm's, been disrupted
The scenery is, just a bunch of lines
So I'll ignore it
And break the world's confines!
Inside, outside, here we go
Attack, attack, everywhere
Break everything, but not a friend
Just make the battle end!
Inside, outside, go Sonic!
Attack, attack, yes Sonic!
Look out there buddy, have a nice fight
Our difference is paper thin and yet I will spin
Through the boredom of today
Start running, find your own way!
S-O-N-I-C, GO!
S-O-N-I-C, GO!
Go, go, go, go, LET'S GO!
Sonic burst out the front doors of the mansion, completely ignoring Chris, who was waving an envelope while chasing after the hedgehog. The hedgehog then departed for a quick jog around the planet. Chris, envelope in hand, sighed and walked back inside, where everyone else was curious as to what was going on.
"I can't believe he just left like that..." Chris glanced at the envelope once more, finding a unique and easily recognisable symbol pinned onto it. "Wait, this is from the Prime Minister!"
"What?! The Prime Minister? Here Chris, let me see!" Chuck rushed over and swiped the envelope right out of his grandson's hand, opening it as quickly as he could.
"The Destruction of Eggman's Base Celebration Charity Party. It is to be hosted at the Grand Central Hall on Thursday next week, starting from six PM and ending at eight. You may bring as many companions as you like," Chuck read out, staring intently at the invitation card.
"Sounds interesting," Amy commented. "And it says 'you may bring as many companions as you like'? Awesome!"
"What does that mean?" Luster questioned, not having such a wide vocabulary.
"That means Sonic can bring as many people as he wants!" Chris explained. He was terribly excited. "We all can go!"
Chuck grinned. "Okay! Let's buy some new tuxedos and dresses, then we'll all be ready to go for next week!"
Everyone seemed excited, which was good. As they were all wondering how the event was going to play out, how the food was going to be and why it was being hosted to begin with, Sonic soon returned from his small lap around the globe.
"I'm home. What's up, guys?" the hedgehog greeted his friends.
"Sonic! The Prime Minister's sent you a party invitation!" Chris explained with a smile.
"And you can bring as many companions as you want!" Luster added. He was eager to show off the new addition to his language repertoire.
"Cool, but what about time? What day is it on and how long is it gonna last for?" Sonic asked, having only a slight interest in the event.
"Thursday, from six to eight PM," Chris answered.
Sonic frowned, growling a little bit to show his displeasure. "I'll pass."
"Huh? Why not?" Amy asked, somewhat disappointed.
"I promised Chris' friend, Helen, that we'd hang out on Thursday," Sonic disclosed. "She's in your form group or whatever, right Chris?"
"Uh, yeah. But how'd you know her? And what do you mean?" Chris replied, absolutely dumbfounded.
"I met her at the lake. She was with one of her other friends, who had been controllin' her wheelchair for her," Sonic responded. "But yeah, I'll be helpin' her out with somethin'. Oh hey Chuck, d'you where I can find a boat and a couple oars?"
"Try looking in the storage room in the garage," the old scientist answered, too busy staring at the letter to face him.
"Cool, thanks!" the blue speedster appreciated the help.
As Sonic sped out of the room to prepare the things he and Helen needed for their adventure in a few days' time, Chris was still frozen in confusion. Sonic meeting a friend of his from his tutorial group was so bizarre and so out of left-field that it left the boy completely dumbfounded. He wondered just what it was that those two were going to do together.

At a Lake Nearby Station Square
On Thursday evening, right after the Prime Minister's party started, Sonic and Helen arrived at the lake. She was alone this time, only having been brought over there by a friend, who had decided to leave the two to themselves. Sonic then took control of the girl's wheelchair.
Both of them were completely oblivious to the fact that they were being hunted down by G.U.N. because of the hedgehog's absence at the party. The two stopped in front of the body of water and watched as a pair of planes flew overhead.
"It sure is noisy," Sonic commented, oblivious to their true purpose. "Wait here. I'll get that boat we're gonna use." He sped off to do exactly as he said.
Helen nodded. She didn't mind looking out at the lake for a little bit longer - she knew that Sonic was going to return verysoon.
By the time Sonic returned, the sunset was beginning to show itself, bringing unbound beauty to the region. The pair were rowing across the sunlit waters, absorbing all the peace and wonder they could get. They wanted their journey to be magical.
"It's gettin' pretty late," Sonic noted, in control of the oars.
"I'm very excited. I wonder what kind of flowers there are over there," Helen exclaimed, temporarily becoming the epitome of excitement. "Even though I was supposed to come here with my father..."
Whilst she was talking, the wheelchair bound child was thinking of how much her father must have been working at that very moment. She considered all the extra hours he was putting in generally - just so he could supply more money for the family. The same applied to her mother. Each of them were so busy that they barely had any sort of time with their daughter. This had been deeply saddening her for many months.
And Sonic was going to be the one to lift that sadness.
"We're almost there!" Sonic pointed out, looking back at all the rowing he had done. As much as he hated water, he had a promise to fulfill. He was going to fulfill it - no matter what.
A small contingent of helicopters arrived at the scene. One of them fired a hook through the bottom of the boat using some kind of gun. The boat was now being dragged amongst the water, reversing all the effort Sonic had went through.
"Dang it! You scared?" Sonic wondered, primarily concerned for the girl.
"I'm fine," Helen replied with a nod.
"Okay!"
Sonic pulled the hook out from the boat and latched it onto the handle of her wheelchair. The swinging that soon took place allowed the two, when the hook was released from the Mobian's grasp, to gain a huge amount of height. Sonic took advantage of this. The pair of them reached a large cliff, but instead of landing on solid ground, they arrived at the side of the cliff.
But the hedgehog used his speed to easily bring the two up to the ground. Helen, at this point, had tears leaking out of her eyes. Sonic immediately showed a greater sense of concern.
"Did I scare you?" he asked the girl.
She wasn't afraid. She was actually having the time of her life. "This is great! I'm having so much fun! I've never been this thrilled before! This is my first adventure ever!"
Sonic winked, but before the two could get moving, the helicopters came back around.
"I guess this really is turnin' into an adventure. Helen, you want more adventure?" Sonic wondered, gripping onto the wheelchair.
"Of course!" Helen answered.
All of a sudden, the hedgehog burst ahead at sound barrier splitting speeds. The G.U.N. agents called for some backup, because they knew they'd need a large force to even have a chance to capture the blue blur. All the agents were equipped with speedy vehicles that hovered slightly. They believed that was enough to capture him.
Sonic and Helen were breaking speed boundaries through the forest, conversing lightly all while being chased by the military soldiers.
"Mother and father work really hard so that I can have everything I need. They buy me everything. They take me to the best doctors and this wheelchair is very expensive. But really, I don't need any of that. I'd rather have mother and father spend more time with me," Helen explained, sharing her sorrows openly. "But I'm having lots of fun today! It's the first time I've ever felt so excited."
"Great! I'm glad you feel that way," Sonic nodded, giving her a thumbs-up. His ear twitched, indicating danger. "Seems like our adventure isn't over yet."
"We've got enemies behind us!"
"Here we go!"
Sonic sped ahead. He quickly stepped to the sides, causing one of the hover machines to crash. His hypersonic speeds were too much for these pieces of human technology, as another one crashed mere seconds later. Sonic and Helen seemingly got away from them all.
"Up ahead!" Helen warned.
What the blue hedgehog didn't realise is that the two were very close to crashing into a large rocky wall. The two were cornered as three more G.U.N. agents approached on their fast hovering transports.
Just as the agents thought they were about to catch their target, the hedgehog sped up the wall behind him along with the girl's wheelchair, essentially eliminating the rest of the soldiers from the chase.
Sonic and Helen were all okay. After a quick, hearty laugh over their success against the bumbling government idiots, the two discovered that the place they wounded up in contained lots and lots of beautiful, white flowers. They both marvelled at this wondrous sight. It was like seeing true beauty.
"These must be the ones that my father told me about," Helen commented, losing herself to their visual allure.
"Shall I pick some for ya?" Sonic asked her. He began to crouch down to do just as he said.
"Don't! I want to leave them as they are. It won't be as beautiful if you disturb it like that. Beauty like this needs to be preserved," Helen instructed. "I want mother and father to see this someday. They need to see it at its best."
"I got'cha. Until then, it'll be a secret between the two of us."
As the pair were taking in the lovely surroundings, the soldiers were not about to give up so easily. Three of them grabbed onto the top of the cliff with a grappling hook and began to climb upwards to the spot Sonic and Helen were at.
"If they come here, they'll ruin the flowers!" Helen exclaimed.
"Leave it to me!" Sonic reassured her.
He grabbed Helen and her wheelchair, speeding to another cliff edge that was just outside of the other half of the forest. One soldier pointed out the hedgehog's departure from the top of the cliff, so they all ziplined back down and rapidly restarted the chase.
"I'll shake 'em off quickly," Sonic remarked. His running space closed up. Another step and they'd fall into the drink below. "Bummer may horus. Wow, haven't said that in a while."
Backing them towards the sea, the G.U.N. agents closed in, hook shooters at the ready. A helicopter appeared beside the cliff. The pair were surrounded.
"Don't resist. Come with us to the Prime Minister. We won't be rough," a soldier tried to order the hedgehog around.
"I've still got some things to do," Sonic taunted, causing the agents to become quite agitated, much alike Eggman.
They fired their guns, but with the hedgehog's evasive capabilities, the hooks just ended up getting twisted together. Sonic grabbed Helen and lifted her out from her seat. They dashed along the line belonging to the hook that came from the helicopter and entered said flying machine. While the pilot was surprised to see the blue Mobian in his cockpit, he found himself dunked into the ocean with a forceful kick from Sonic, who stole the controls.
"Do you know how to fly a helicopter?" Helen questioned him.
"Tails is the one that does the flyin' and I even controlled the original Tornado a few times back on my world, but I've never tried to use one of these Earth things," Sonic explained. "But it shouldn't be too different from flyin' a biplane, right?"
He pressed a button that had the word 'Retract' written above it. The hedgehog figured that had something to do with the hook controls, so he pressed it and it did exactly what he thought it did. All those agents near the tangled up hooks fell on their backs. Messing around with the controls, Sonic eventually managed to figure it out.
"Better not leave anythin' behind," Sonic aimed and fired the hook at his human friend's wheelchair, it wrapping around the closest handle perfectly.
They both then flew away, committing at least a thousand crimes in the process. Below them, they could see the bed of white flowers that they came across earlier. From their eagle-eye view, things felt even more wonderful than ever before. They wished that their journey hadn't come to an end. But it needed to.
Helen knew Sonic had some business with the Prime Minister. She requested that she go and find out exactly what the governor wanted, despite his reluctance to do so. Sonic couldn't deny the wishes of an unfortunate child. Therefore, they both flew straight to the party.

Grand Central Hall, the Prime Minister's Party
Jerome was not pleased. All of his men failed to retrieve Sonic - all of them! Not a single one of them could catch the speedy blue nuisance. Not with their latest, hi-tech capturing gadgets and high speed hover vehicles. Not even with a small armada of helicopters. Worst of all...
"He STOLE one of the copters?" Jerome asked, answering a phone call he'd received earlier.
"Hey!"
"What is it?" Jerome wondered, facing the door. He promptly ended the call once he realised who was there. "Sonic! Thank you so much for coming. Mr. Prime Minister!"
The Prime Minister walked over. So did Sonic. Helen was there too. She'd wheeled herself over to Chris, his grandfather and the other Mobians. All of them were wearing very formal clothing, even the Mobians. Chuck had purchased all their outfits prior to the party. But the end result meant that everyone there looked snazzy as heck. Except for Mr. Tanaka and Ella - those two were back at the mansion for protective purposes.
Sonic and the Prime Minister met each other in the middle. They stared each other down, sparking a quiet tension between them. It only dissipated when one of them raised their hand to offer a friendly handshake.
"Welcome, Sonic," Michael greeted the hedgehog.
"My pleasure!" Sonic nodded. He accepted the formality.
"Yes! This is the moment everyone's been waiting for! Cameras! Reporters!" Jerome called out to the rest of the guests.
Every single reporter and photographer had all fallen asleep as a result of their over-drunken state. As soon as Jerome witnessed their bodies, collapsed from too many adult drinks, he fainted.
For some reason, everyone found this funny. They started laughing the night away and enjoyed the rest of the food that the party had to offer. It had easily been the best day of Helen's life. She was overjoyed to get to tell her parents about everything that happened with Sonic when he brought her back to her home. Together, Helen's parents vowed to spend as much time with the girl as possible. As much time as she wanted.
