The Forbidden Love Chapter 36
The Rangers had won a great victory for themselves, but at a large price at my own expense. Olympus was gone and forever out of my reach. I had brought his and Diabolico's bodies, with the held of some Batlings, back to the Skull Cavern. Their bodies were taken away from my grasp, out of my reach.
I ran straight to my chambers and locked myself inside them. Before that I gave orders to the Batlings that I wasn't to be disturbed in any way. I threw myself onto the bed and stayed there. The bed still carried his scent on it. It was very strong and I inhaled it through my nose. I wanted to imprint the smell into my mind so that I would never be able to forget it. I don't know how long I laid there, but I did know that I didn't wish to leave that spot.
Days passed and I still refused to leave my chambers. At one point in time Jinxer came in carrying food. He tried to coax me into eating something. He placed the tray right beside me.
"Please, Phoenix. You must eat something," said Jinxer. I simply just ignored him, but that didn't get him to turn away. "You can't keep going on like this. Your body needs nourishment."
"Leave now," I said.
Shaking his head, Jinxer said "I won't."
He didn't get any further than that.
"Go," I shouted. "Leave me!"
I threw a fireball at him and this time he listened to me. Jinxer ran out before I could throw another attack at him. As soon as he had left I flopped back down onto my bed.
I tried to tune out what Jinxer had been saying, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't. Begrudgingly I admitted that Jinxer was right. I couldn't go on like this anymore. Olympus wouldn't have wanted me to just lay around in a depression and grieve over his death and besides...i was going to have a little one to look after soon enough. With that as a reminder with what I still had in my life I reached for the food and drink that Jinxer had brought to me. While I was eating I got to thinking. When Olympus had been alive there was a reason for me to stay on this side, but with him now deceased there was nothing anchoring me here any longer.
By the time I finished with my meal my mind was made up. I was going to leave this place for good. Queen Bansheera and what was left of her army were only after Mariner Bay. If I left for somewhere else I would be sage and so would the little one growing inside of my belly. Hopefully he would be born looking like a human since the babe had been conceived during my last few days as a full one. If not…then I would have to figure something else out.
All that was left now was to notify Queen Bansheera of my intentions. It was suicide to do so, but I was prepared. If she showed any signs of killing me I'd just get out of there as fast as I could. Before I left my chambers I took one final look around them. Even though I hadn't lived in them long they still held many fond ones.
"Farewell, my Love," I said, softly.
One last tear fell from my eyes. I turned around and walked right out of them, not looking back.
I headed for the throne room where I knew she would be. As I was getting close I could hear talking coming through the door. Well it was more like two people arguing. I immediately recognized Jinxer and Queen Bansheera's voices, the main ones in the argument. Not wanting my presence to be known to them I moved up slowly to the door. I peered around the door and looked inside.
Queen Bansheera had Jinxer by the throat.
"Jinxer, I need a monster now," she shouted.
"I'm sorry, My Queen," said Jinxer, gasping for air. "But I completely out of monster cards."
Queen Bansheera let out a roar of anger and threw him into a pillar. Jinxer landed with a heavy thud onto the ground.
The Queen prepared to attack when Jinxer held out a hand to stop her.
"Wait, my Queen. All is not lost," he stated.
Her eyes narrowed.
"Go on," she said, but the impatience was clear in her voice.
"Before the Rangers went back to their Aqua Base I planted a Batling card on one of their own Zords," he stated.
My eyes widened when I heard those words come out of his mouth. With that trap in place the Rangers would be completely caught off guard with absolutely no way to defend themselves with no warning to even act on it all. Apparently Queen Bansheera knew this too. She brought her hand back down and there was a satisfied look on her face.
"Well done, Jinxer," she said. "You've actually done something right for once."
Bowing his head to her, Jinxer said "Thank you, my Queen."
Queen Bansheera turned her back to Jinxer returning towards her throne. Once there she sat down.
"Once the card is activated and the Batlings are released you will join the assault," she ordered.
There was absolute no room for any sign of argument in her voice.
"By your command," he said.
Right then I turned away from the door walking away, lost deep in thought. While I was walking I was unconsciously heading up to the top of the Skull Cavern. As soon as I got there I stood there for a while watching the lights move around in the air. I kept going back to what I had heard in the throne room. If the Batlings were released and the rangers were completely destroyed then everything would change. My thoughts suddenly turned over to my parents. I hadn't thought about them for months before now.
What would happen to them once Queen Bansheera took over Mariner Bay?
They would probably either be killed or made as slaves like everyone else. There would be nothing else for misery and sorrow with no sign of any light from before.
I placed a hand over my abdomen. While Olympus had been alive I was all for the Queens ideals, but now things have changed drastically. Now that I was going to have a precious little one to care for I didn't want him to grow up in that kind of atmosphere with no light. I let out a deep sign. It looked like I wasn't going to be leaving just yet.
Authors Note:
Things are definitely going to get desperate for her now.
