Mywinx14 please read what I wrote last chapter. I have nothing to apologize for.
This chapter is based off of an actual thing that happened at my school this year. There were first graders all around the place.
Also, extra long chapter. was originally going to be two chapters, but I just kept typing.
Please enjoy. Note, holiday chapter coming (hopefully) soon.
November was quite the uneventful month. Classes went by and Thanksgiving happened. No major faction battles or events. November was a peaceful time of rest and relaxation.
Then December came along.
Everything was suddenly in a hectic frenzy. Everyone was finishing their courses and beginning to preparing for exams and getting ready for the holiday season.
"Wow, I can't believe that it's December already. It seems like only yesterday we were going to our lockers for the first time." Raf said one day.
"I know. Now we're having exams for the first time too. Yay." Jack replied sarcastically.
"Right?" Miko agreed. "I know I'm gonna ace my music exam but I'm not too sure about the others. What about you guys?"
"Ah, they are coming soon but not yet." Bulkhead spoke as he walked up to the group of freshmen. "You guys really shouldn't start talking about exams until after the break."
Miko smiled. "Yeah, you're right Bulk."
"Hey, do you know where Arcee is?" Jack asked.
"She and the spirit committee are helping out with the first graders." Bulkhead answered.
"The first graders?" Raf said.
"Yeah, every year in December a class or two of first graders come to the academy for a day of activities and stuff. The spirit committee is in charge of that."
"So, we're gonna be seeing a bunch of munchkins runnin' around the school today?" Miko spoke.
Bulkhead shrugged. "Guess so."
The yellow school bus pulled up to the front gates of the academy.
Elita, one of the heads of the spirit committee walked up to the teacher who stepped out. An older lady with greying hair and a pair of glasses sitting down low on the bridge of her nose.
"Mrs. Tabitha?" Elita greeted with a smile.
The teacher smiled back.
"Well if it isn't Ellen Twon. You've grown my dear."
"Heh, thanks. So, we have 21 kids this year right?"
Mrs. Tabitha nodded and helped bring the children out.
"Okay, let's get everyone paired up."
Arcee ended up with the last little girl. She had short, jet black hair tied in two small pigtails with wide, sparkling purple eyes. The first grader wore a violet wool sweater with a black skirt and purple running shoes.
"Okay, everyone." Mrs. Tabitha spoke. "I want you all to be good for the nice older kids. They're letting us into their school so remember, the rules at our school are the same here. Now, I'm going to hand it over to Miss Ellen."
"Thanks. Okay, we have a bunch of things planned for you guys today. But first, you lot are gonna get to know each other."
Arcee looked down at the little girl and smiled kindly.
"Hi, my name is Ariana. What's your name?" Arcee spoke.
The little girl smiled back.
"Hiya! I'm Lacy Becca!" she answered loudly.
"Nice to meet you Lacy. We're going to have lots of fun today."
"You sure?" Lacy asked. "Some of the older kids say that high school kids aren't fun."
Arcee was about to speak until Lacy continued.
"But my big brother comes to Cybertron Academy. He's lots 'n' lots of fun! Really really fun!" Lacy proclaimed.
Arcee chuckled and shook her head slightly.
"So, who's your brother. Maybe I know him." Arcee spoke.
"Oh, his name is W-"
"Okay, everybody better be acquaintances now because the day is going to begin now!" Elita exclaimed.
"I'll tell ya later. C'mon!" Lacy said excitedly.
Lacy grabbed the older girl's hand and proceeded to drag her after the rest of the group.
Jeez, Arcee thought, she's more enthusiastic than me.
First on the list was a walk through the halls before they entered an empty music room where they played some instruments.
Lacy immediately ran around the room, picking up different brass instruments.
"Is this a sousaphone?" she asked while holding a french horn.
Arcee shook her head.
"Is this a sousaphone?" now holding a trumpet.
Arcee said no.
"What about this? Is this a sousaphone?" she was holding a flute.
"Lacy, that's not even a brass anymore. Look we don't have sousaphones here. Come sit down. We're about to get started anyways." Arcee replied.
Lacy pouted and put the flute down before walking over to sit by Arcee. Her gloomy nature lasted no longer than ten seconds because Jazz began talking about the music program and what they had planned for the kids that day.
Next up was gym time before they would go for lunch.
They decided on playing dodgeball. Needless to say it was nowhere near as intense or serious as the Halloween tournament had been but the kids seemed to have just as much fun.
Lacy continued to throw balls far too short. Every time it would hit the ground without hitting anybody she would puff out her cheeks and stomp her feet in frustration before going back to dodging and waiting for another chance to throw a ball.
In the end neither team truly won or lost.
One of the kids-a particularly short red head-had thrown a ball up in the air so high it got stuck along the rods and poles holding up the ceiling.
Elita physically wrapped her arm in a choke hold around the crazed Sentinel when he began to really lose his cool about the matter.
The kids on the other hand, all started screaming and laughing and pointing up at the ball. They had completely forgotten about playing and all laughed and talked with each other, wondering how the ball was going to get down, if at all. Even the little red head who got it stuck had fun with it.
"Look how strong I am!" He exclaimed, rolling up his sleeves and showing off his skinny little first grader arms.
By that time the bell rung and it was time for their lunch break.
"Alright everyone! Get with your buddy and go to lunch. We'll meet back in the hall just outside of the gym when it's done. Have a good lunch!" Elita shouted.
The group split up and went wherever it was they were going to eat lunch.
"Where're we gonna eat lunch Ariana?" Lacy asked. "Can we go somewhere nice? I have a really good lunch today."
"Sure." Arcee answered.
Like usual, Arcee headed out to the lunch hill behind the school. All of her fellow Autobot friends were at their usual spot.
"You see those students under the tree? Those are my friends. Let's go meet them okay?"
Lacy nodded. "Okie dokie."
The pair walked up to the group. Ratchet's head snapped towards the little girl as soon as she came up within his peripheral vision. He narrowed his eyes before turning back to his book.
Arcee rolled her eyes as they reached the tree.
"Yo Arcee! I see you have a munchkin with ya!" Smokescreen greeted.
"A cute one by the looks of it." Bulkhead added as he bent down to shake her hand gently.
"Hey guys, this is-"
"I'm Lacy Becca!" Lacy interrupted with her hand waving around in the air.
"Welcome to Cybertron Academy Lacy Becca." Ultra Magnus greeted professionally.
"Yo munchkin!" Miko exclaimed. "You like music?"
Lacy nodded furiously. "Love it lots!"
"Great, 'cause I got a song I gotta do for class. It's gotta be kid friendly. Here Lacy listen." Miko took out her guitar and began playing some slow, sweet chords.
Lacy bobbed her head to the beat. When the short song was done, she smiled.
"I like it. My brother plays music too. Not on a guitar though. He has a big table machine thingie." Lacy spoke.
"Hm, speaking of which. Lacy, you said that your older brother goes to Cybertron. Who is he?" Arcee asked.
Lacy looked out at the field before her.
"His name is...WAYNE!" With that scream, Lacy went running away from the Autobots lunch in hand.
"Waynewaynewaynewaynewayne WAAAAAAYYYYYYNNNNEE!" She screamed as she ran towards the Decepticons.
"Lacy, don't go over there!" Arcee shouted.
Arcee was about to go after her but Bumblebee held her back.
"What?" she asked.
Bumblebee shook his head and pointed towards the place where Lacy was running.
Arcee turned back around to see Soundwave get up from his seat and let the little girl fly into his open arms. The two shared a tight hug.
"Wayne! How are you?" Lacy asked, loud enough for half the world to hear.
"Hold up...her older brother is Soundwave?"
-/-/-
The Autobots looked on at the sight with shock as the two apparent siblings broke their embrace.
"How're you doing Wayne? I'm having lots of fun today. Are you?" Lacy asked.
Soundwave nodded wordlessly and Lacy grinned from ear to ear.
"Hey there Lacy." Megatron greeted with the softest smile the Autobots had ever seen on him.
"Mason! Hi hi hi!" Lacy left Soundwave and hugged the silver haired student as well.
"Hey, kid. Remember what we told you? At school, I'm Megatron, and Wayne is Soundwave." Megatron told her.
Lacy's wide eyes blinked before nodding. "Right! Sorry."
"Did you forget the name we gave you?" Megatron asked.
"No no no of course not! I'm Lazerbeak...even though I'm not a bird like the real Lazerbeak...but he's at home right now." Lacy spoke.
Soundwave walked up to her and put his hand on her shoulder. He looked at he at her and she looked back before nodding.
"Right. You said that Lazerbeak was named after me! Right!" Lacy exclaimed.
Megatron continued to smile as Soundwave picked up the girl.
"Hey Lacy," Starscream spoke up, "what about me?"
Lacy stared at him for a few seconds.
"But...I don't like you." Lacy said simply.
Starscream glared at her, looking like he had just been shot, before going back to eating.
"Can I eat with you guys?" Lacy asked.
"Oh, if it's okay with your buddy." Megatron spoke the last word with a usual (but nonetheless chilling) glare at Arcee and the Autobots.
Arcee was growling under her breath and gritting her teeth. Soundwave took her hand as he and Megatron walked over to the Autobots. Megatron smirked gleefully all the way.
"So buddy." Megatron greeted. "Can she have her lunch with us?"
Arcee was slowly reddening.
"What? You're not going to deny this little sweetheart a lunch with her beloved big brother are you?" Megatron spoke mockingly.
Arcee took in a breath, looking ready to retort before she felt someone tugging her shirt.
"Can I please Ariana?" Damn it. Those stupid six year old puppy dog eyes.
"Ugh...fine. But I'm coming to get you right when lunch is over."
Lacy smiled brightly before going back to sit down with the Decepticons.
As she ate her lunch, Arcee was glaring at the opposing faction much more than usual.
"Jeez," Wheeljack muttered, "kinda hard to believe that a munchkin like that is actually related to a slag eating Con. And Soundwave at that. Who knows what they'll end up teaching her."
After what seemed to be a lifetime, lunch was over and Arcee walke over to Lacy and the COns.
"C'mon Lacy, we have to go meet the others now." Arcee announced.
"Aw, okay. Bye everybody. Bye Wayn-Soundwave." Lacy waved and hugged before following Arcee.
As the two walked through the halls together, Arcee couldn't help herself and asked, "Lacy, what do you think of your brother? And his...friends."
"Hm? Oh, Wayne is super duper awesome! And Mason, and Kevin, and Bryke and-"
"Okay I get it. Just, they may act differently around others. Remember that for me okay?" Arcee said.
"Huh? You calling them weird?" Lacy wondered.
"No not really-"
"'Cause I know my brother's weird. Other people say it too." Lacy continued. "He doesn't really talk much."
"Do you talk to him?" Arce asked.
"Yeah. All the time. He's a really good listener. He doesn't like talking because no one listens to him when he talks at home." Lacy answered as they reached the kids meeting spot.
"Great, we're all here. Let's head to the library." Elita spoke when the two came into view.
In the library they were going to do some Christmas crafts and listen to a story before watching a movie.
As Lacy made her paper ornament, Arcee stood with Elita.
"So, how's your buddy today Arcee?" Elita asked.
"She's pretty good. Y'know she's the younger sibling of Soundwave?"
Elita chuckled and nodded.
"Yeah, I saw her last name on the list and figured it out. She really doesn't look like it, huh."
Arcee shook her head. "No not at all."
"Well, we Autobots have to remember. As much as we may not like them, the Decepticons have lives and family outside of school and the factions. For all we know some of them may be volunteering at shelters and soup kitchens."
"Then why are they so mean spirited and jerk-ish here?"
"Because it seems that they feel the need to be. I remember what Mason used to say during the first few weeks of our freshmen year. He truly believed that true change came through shock and force. The Decepticons all believe that too. We stand against them and blind ourselves to the fact that we may not be seeing the whole story. Of course, they do it to us as well." Elita explained.
"Right." Arcee replied as story time began.
After the school day ended, all of the kids were loading onto the school bus.
Lacy went up to Mrs. Tabitha.
"Mrs. Tabitha, can I go home with my brother?" she asked.
"Oh, I suppose. Are you sure your parents okay with it?" Mrs. Tabitha replied.
Lacy nodded.
"Alright dear. I'll see you tomorrow then."
Lacy smiled and ran over to Arcee.
"Thank you very much Ariana! I had lots of fun today!" Lacy spoke before running towards the Nemesis.
"Bye." Arcee replied.
Soundwave carried his little sister to her bed that night. She was falling asleep on his back.
He set her down on her pink sheet and tucked her in.
"Good night. Love you big brother." Lacy mumbled before falling into a deep sleep.
Then, in an almost completely inaudible whisper...
"Love you too Lacy."
Cute? Feels? Maybe? I don't know. I am aware that I had a bird with Soundwave in the...second or third chapter. That was originally going to be Lazerbeak until I remembered that this was a school setting. The bird still exists but yeah...and Lazerbeak is a girl. Come at me.
