Chapter 36

Author's Note: Hey everyone thank you for your patience this long. I have news I have officially finished my Master's Degree! Hopefully this means I will actually have time to write. I do apologize for not updating more often and hope that I can do so more often. I did have a question a few weeks ago as to my inspiration for Lord Ko. Although he may be similar to Orochimaru from Naruto he is not based of of this character in the least. I just hate snakes and created the most vile character I could think of at the time.

Three guards ran up to Kagome and Sesshomaru carrying armor and weapons and began equipping them. They quickly fitted Sesshomaru with his swards Tokijyn and Backsaigua (I apologize that my spelling sucks) and dressed Kagome with chain mail, arm braces, greaves, and a chest plate that was a bit snug but did the job. Along with her bow and arrows the guards also equipped her with a short sword and a dagger. The armor was light enough that Kagome could move comfortably without it hindering her movement.

"Don't get comfortable." Sesshomaru whispered smirking, "when this is over I'm planning on ripping it off." Kagome blushed at Sesshomaru's crass announcement and was encouraged to end this conflict quickly. She smiled and a hint of purple energy crept into her eyes as her arousal grew. "Not just yet my love we still have a snake to cut down to size."

With those words the palace gates flew open and the courtyard was flooded with demons. Minerva strode past Sesshomaru and Kagome twirling her scythe above her head. "Are you two done flirting or should I make our uninvited guests tea while we wait?"

"Never! You know me Minerva. I'm a great multi-tasker." Sesshomaru joked back as he pulled out his sword (the metal one ;) ) all the while gazing seductively at Kagome.

"Well while you to are undressing each other with your eyes I'm going to have fun." With that Minerva raced into the mass of enemy soldiers leaving a trail of dead bodies in her wake. Mushi who had been waiting unnoticed behind her followed throwing daggers into the crowd making use of both his arms and his tail.

"We can't let them stand us up now can we." Kagome said grinning as she knocked and arrow and took aim. Letting her power build up she fired shooting a hole, three demons wide, straight through the right flank of soldiers. Screams went out through the attacking hoard as more arrows flew purifying anyone that came within 10 feet of the glowing shafts.

Sesshomaru laughed entranced by his mate's enthusiasm as he too joined the fray making a beeline straight for Ko. The lesser demons fell like flies as he raced down the battle field. He could smell the stench of fear as demons scrambled out of his way in an attempt to escape. "Futile," Sesshomaru scoffed as he hacked a dragon-like monster in half while striking out with his poison whip decapitating five more and nicking several others who screamed in agony as their flesh began to burn dissolving them slowly into unrecognizable puddles. With all his efforts Ko still managed to stay a good distance away from him. Any time he drew close more demons appeared and Ko once more was able to slither through the ranks slipping farther away from him. 'Coward!' Sesshomaru thought callously as he saw the snake smirk at him from across the battlefield.

It was at this point that Sesshomaru realized that the vile ex-lord was strategically positioning himself between him and Kagome. She was clearly unaware as she fended off her own attackers using her bow as a staff to beat off the closer ones and arrows to both attack the larger demons and defend their comrades. Sesshomaru howled in rage. It was times like this that he regretted leaving the Tessaiga in Inuyasha's incompetent hands. Using both hands Sesshomaru swung Baukseiga over his head and brought it crashing down on his nearest opponent. His need to protect his mate spilled forth in the aura around his body. He raised his sword again and felt something in him change He smirked as he swung the sword again.

The aura that had been swirling around him rushed through his sword and exploded out as it raced across the field in the shape of a great dog demon. Unlike the windscar this energy zipped around the field consuming every enemy it touched and avoided all of Sesshomaru's guards and allies. Screams resounded around the battle field as the remaining demons scattered and fled into the trees. The energy dog split into 12 pieces and scattered to finish off the fleeing traitors. There would be no survivors Sesshomaru thought as he sent more energy out to be sure no enemies remained. Only enemy figure remained on the field...Ko.

The snake was curled up on the ground hiding his head somewhere in the tangle of his arms and legs. Sesshomaru stooped down and grabbed the whimpering serpent by the back of his neck and lifted him into the air. By the smell of it the disgusting traitor had wet himself. Sesshomaru bared his fangs and looked at the pathetic excuse for a demon with a disgusted look. Fear shown in his eyes as bright as the sun. His eyes widened even farther as Sesshomaru's energy dogs reappeared and merged together once again. Blood dripping from its jowls it stalked forward searching for one last meal.

"P-p-p-please Lord Sesshomaru," Ko groveled. "D-d-d-don't l-l-l-let i-i-i-it eat-m-m-m-me!"

"Silence Worm!" Sesshomaru's voice echoed around the forest. Minerva smirked as Ko cowered. Kagome looked at the pitiful snake but said nothing. It was Sesshomaru's right to determine his fate and she would stand by it however gruesome it might be. Mushi looked apathetically on as if he just wanted to get this whole thing over with and go home.

"Your death will be slow and painful for what you have put me and my mate through. On top of that you dared to attack my home. Foolish creature you will live to regret the decisions you have made." Sesshomaru pointed a finger at Ko. The terror in his eyes grew as he watched a single drop of poison grow on the tip of that finger.

"Minerva if you would please," Sesshomaru nodded towards Ko's head.

"With pleasure Lord Sesshomaru." Minerva purred as she slinked over to Ko's side. Violently she took his head in her hands and wrenched open his mouth. Ko's screams echoed for miles as he realized what was about to happen. Minerva tilted his head back as Sesshomaru positioned his finger over the snake's open maw. Seconds passed and then in slow motion the drop of poison fell down into the cavern of Ko's throat. Quickly Minerva closed his mouth and held it shut as he thrashed about trying to expel the poison. Finally he was forced to swallow and fell to the ground in agony. The poison would work slowly burning him from the inside out. It would take months if not years for him to die. Every second of that time would be spent in absolute torture.

Sesshomaru motioned for his guards to take him away and lock him in a heavily guarded dungeon 3 leagues away. They grabbed the despicable creature and dragged him away as Sesshomaru moved to embrace Kagome. He kissed her once then turned to the remaining lords that had not participated in the battle.

"Now I will deal with you!"

Alyse: Wow that took way too long. 5 months of writers block is way too much. Cassie WTF,

Cassie: I'm sorry. You were just so tired and cranky I didn't want that to affect the outcome of the story. If you had tried to write back then the battle would have taken two second or you would have skipped it completely.

Alyse: Fine. I guess you're right there is no way I could have written a battle sequence during student teaching.

Sess: *Yawns. So does this mean vacations is over?

Alyse: I guess so.

Sess: Goody. So does that mean you're up for some play time? ;) *Snuggles up by Alyse

Alyse: Eeeeeeppppppppp. You're not over that horny dog act yet?

Sess: Me? Never! *smirks and bites Alyse's ear.

Alyse: *screams and runs into the other room.

Sess: When will she learn the chase is the best part. *Laughs as he runs after her

Cassie: Oh God Not this Again!
