A.N: This next chapter is going to be based off a head canon of mine since the Kraang Conspiracy episode. Also, I think the creatures were high on something when they wrote the latest episode. (Spoilers) Dancing mushrooms? Leo in the Avatar state?
16: I know, I was having a hard time thinking of a name for the baby and then I was like 'wait, I can use this name'
Beawolf's Pen: baby turtles are always adorable!
Katie Gibbs: Wait! You can't take them! I need them for the story! XD
Dramatic Person: OMG thank you, that means a lot to me. I do hope you catch up.
Lumi: I try to write them in advance, and I'm usually like two chapters ahead. Oh geez, I don't know, maybe Jack teaching willow how to fly (Can she fly now? I can't remember?) and then have her like hit a tree or something funny (I don't mean to hurt your character but….) I don't have the GLTAS scripts, I watch the episode and write it down so I can get the action sequences right, sorry. The episode after Sinestro was Loss. What I really like is how you can't tell them difference between my fic and the actual show, it means my story has such a big impact and it makes me so happy.
I don't own TMNT.
About the O'Neil's
Cally arrived home in the middle of the night and Treelore was already asleep by then. It was quite in the Walter place, until the next morning. "What is it with you and fighting people?" Walter screamed.
"I told you already, I walked into a damn poll. How many times to I have to tell you that?"
"Until I get the truth out of you."
Cally sighed. She really….really hated to lie to her husband. Splinter was an exception because he was her teacher. Treelore was different. He was the love of her life. She took a breath ad said, "Ok, I was attacked by mutants."
"What?" Treelore's eyes almost bulged out of their sockets.
"There I told you, done with the conversation." Cally hustled over to the kitchen to avoid any eye contact with him.
That didn't stop him from following in after her and saying, "You didn't mean to tell me you were attack by monsters? Cally this is serious it could have gone a lot worse. Not just a bruise, a broken arm or a leg or-"
"I get it but I'm a ninja, I'm am capable of defending myself."
"You're not proving your point with that hit on your face."
"It was a mishap. Besides, the fish had robot legs. The hit was actually a lot less harder than it should have been."
"Cally please you can't keep going on your own. I'll come with you tomorrow."
"I'm not going back for another few days, or at least until this bruise lets up. I've decided I'll go during daylight hours where there are more friendlier people around."
"Why don't you want me to come with you?"
I don't want you getting hurt if I get attacked again, she thought. Instead of telling him that though, Callaby said, "You can come along, I'm not stopping you. But you do have to go for work sometimes."
"True. Can you at least have some sort of escort next time?"
"I can ask the boys to walk me home if you'd like."
"Yes, I'd like that very much."
"Good."
Callaby had made breakfast and once they were finished, Treelore left for work. Cally took the time to go out and visit Mr. O'Neil, since she hadn't seen him since the dinner night. Treelore told her about his nightmares, and she was glad her husband was able to help Kirby out. She wanted to see if he was doing alright. She drove over to his house and parked her car by the front of the antique shop. Cally saw a weird looking 1967 Chevi Impala. It had a bunch of opinionated bumper stickers on the back that said things like Football for geeks, Journalism is the hit.
"Oh great." Cally said, getting out of the car. "The press is here. But why here?" Cally looked up at O'Neil's apartment window and heard yelling. "Oh no, not again." Cally remembered a little while after Cally met Bonnie, Bonnie told her she was actually kidnapped once. She didn't go into details because what Bonnie said she went through was painful. Yet the press, even after April was born, wouldn't let her rest. That's why she took of the job at the Archer's Warehouse because it's the last place the press could think to look for her and the only place she could get away from them during work hours.
But that was fifteen years ago and she's gone. Why do they keep coming back? Couldn't they just leave the O'Neil's alone?
Cally ran to the apartment as fast as she could and found the O'Neil door left open. She walked in and saw Kirby yelling at a guy wearing a bage fedora that matched his coat jacket. He had one a white shirt and normal work pants and his looked screamed news reporter. He looked to be at around his early fifties but Cally couldn't tell since his face was bent up in anger. He said to Kirby, "You know you're only putting her in danger more by keeping this a secret from her."
"She already knows about the Kraang and that mutations are possible, one step at a time." Kirby tried to finish the conversation there but the fedora guy wasn't done.
"She has to know that she might be different."
Kirby turned his back on him, saying "I'm not going to tell her something that might ruin the normal life I've tried to give her, the one that Bonnie died for." Callaby's eyes widened.
"Well you're wasting it by letting her hang out with mutant turtles." Callaby gasped and dropped her purse.
The two men turned to the door where she stood. The fedora man asked, "Who is this?"
Kirby walked to Callaby and said, "Cally, right now is not a good time-"
"Kirby? What is he talking?" Cally asked confused and walking up to them.
The fedora man said, "I wouldn't get involved in this if you aren't already."
"When it comes to mutant turtles I am." Cally said with malice towards him. He just looked at her with surprise Cally ignored it and looked at Kirby. "Who is he and why is he here?"
"Callaby, it's nothing." Kirby insisted.
"It doesn't look like nothing. If that guy is from the press to get info about Bonnie I can just shove him out the room for you."
"How do you suppose to do that?"
Cally whipped her head around and glared daggers at him. Then she grabbed the color of his shirt and twisted it getting a grip. She pulled him forward and with all her strength she pushed him back. He went back against the coffee table and landed on the floor between that piece of furniture and the couch. He his feet had ended up on the small table but he was sitting on the floor. His fedora fell over his face on impact. The person pulled up his hat back on his head and looked at Cally in aghast. The woman stood proud with her arms crossed but Mr. O'Neil hid his face with his hand. He said, "Cally, Kurtzman is not here about Bonnie. He's here about April."
"Does it have to do with being friends with the boys because if it is I can say there in nothing wrong with hanging out with mutants?" She said that trying to lean over the table and pointing a finger at the guy known as Kurtzman. He tried to scoot back but the couch behind him wasn't helping.
Kirby grabbed her by the arm and pulled Cally back. "Yes, let's just say that is…."
"It sort of is though." Kurtzman said finally getting up.
"Not helping." Kirby said angrily.
Cally thought back to the previous conversation before she interrupted. "How do you know about the Kraang?"
"I know because I found out about them during my research on the missing scientist this past year." Kurtzman said coming up to stand with them.
"Huh, you and the press really can't keep your noses out of things can you?"
"Should I say the same to you?"
"Watch it, fedora head." Cally said angrily.
"Ok." Kirby said, walking in between them. "One, Kurtzman, if I don't see you out of here in the next ten minutes, I'm calling the Police. And Cally, please, right now is not a good time to visit."
"Or anytime." Kurtzman said, "You're just putting yourself in danger in just knowing who the O'Neil's are."
Cally said to him, "Well, if your studies haven't told you yet, the Kraang are gone. The turtles defeated them more than a month ago. You know? Space ship in the sky fell into deep waters."
"I very much know about that, but I'm more worried about what April is capable of."
"April?"
"Kurtzman." Kirby said, "I advise you to stop talking."
"If she knows about the Kraang, don't you think she has the right to know, April too?"
Cally asked, "Know what?"
"Nothing." Kirby insisted. "Kurtzman, stop."
"You can't hide the fact she's different, traits will begin to show."
"I know that."
"The Kraang won't stop until they get her."
"Be quite."
"Just like they did your wife."
"I SAID BE QUIET!" Kirby tackled Kurtzman by grabbing him by the shoulders. They fell on the floor and Kirby threw a punch to his face.
Cally stepped back for a second of shock at Kirby's reaction. Then she reached out and pulled Kirby off of Kurtzman. It was hard but she managed to pry him off and push him away a little. Kurtzman got up and marched over to them but Cally held a hand out for him to stop. "What is wrong with you two?"
"He brought Bonnie into this!" Kirby yelled with fury
"That's because she didn't know the risk!"
"She did!"
"But April doesn't!"
"She doesn't have to!"
"She's probably not human!"
"You don't I know that." Kirby regretted what he said and covered his mouth, looking at Callaby. She stood Frozen in between them but her eyes were glued to Kirby.
She stuttered, "Wha-what? April isn't human?"
"I never said that."
"You admitted it." Kurtzman said. "It's what I've been trying to tell you since you returned."
Cally had enough of this man. She turned around and grabbed him by his coat, practically dragging him to the door. She threw him out and before she could shut the door, Kirby came behind Cally and said to Kurtzman, "If I see you here again…or if I see you anywhere near April, Cally won't be the last person you see punching your lights out." Kirby pulled Cally back so that he could slam the door, making his point clear. He then sighed and laid against the door for a while. Cally was trying to take everything in. April probably not being human, Bonnie and Kirby knowing all along, but how? Cally walked up to Kirby and grabbed his hand, giving it a comforting squeeze. She said, "What really happened?"
Kirby and Cally had sat down at the dinner table and Mr. O'Neil explained everything. He finished with, "That's why I quit my job at the Facility. Working on rats in mazes catches less attention then experimenting on mutagen." At the end, Cally couldn't speak. Bonnie had went through all that…and worse, she was pregnant with April at that time. Callaby put a hand on her stomach. Worse than having your DNA altered is that both you and your child turn out different. It's cool to have powers but finding you're in danger because of it…..and your kid as well. And the reason behind Bonnie's death because of…..
Cally shook her head and looked up at Kirby ho was hunched over the table and looking away. She said firmly, "I really hate to say it but Kurztman is right. April does deserve to know that she might not be human."
"If I tell her, it will ruin her life. I just wanted her to have a normal life. I know Bonnie would have, too."
"Kirby, no one is normal. I'm not normal. No one can be normal. Everyone is unique."
"But this isn't uniqueness, this could be a…a…a mutation or….. Look I see where you're trying to go but there is the fact that the Kraang might come back. They want her for probably more experimenting but I can't let that happen. Not to my little girl."
"I guess that explains the nightmares now."
"I only told her about that but that's as far as I'll go."
"And if she does some non-human thing, what are you going to say?"
"The truth. But for now I guess we just let things go as they are now."
"Funny thing." Callaby said, getting up and swinging her purse over her shoulder. "Splinter said almost the same exact thing to me when we were taking about secrets."
"Everyone has reasons to stay quiet Callaby. For the good of others."
"Won't it just hurt people more you stay quiet?" Callaby left the table and began to walk out of the room to the door out.
Kirby turned around in his seat to watch her leave. "Probably, but hey-You kept a secret about mutant turtles and a rat living in the sewers for fifteen years. You don't hear me complaining."
"That's different." She opened the door.
"How is that different?"
She walked out saying, "It just is."
Before she shut the door behind her, she heard him whisper, "Hypocrite."
Cally tried to keep a smirk on her face and said, "Afro-head."
"It wasn't an AFRO!"
A.N: Made fun of Kirby's hair from the photo of the O'Neil family (Gosh April's mom is so pretty, and a blonde….I have nothing against blonds, it's just in my fic she's a red head) Psst, i made a Supernatural reference. So, did you guess my headcanon? I'm KikaKatTIOI, peace out!
