The Stolen Earth- Part 1
I do not own Doctor Who and Torchwood and I am not making a profit off of this. I only own my OC.
Thank you for all your reviews, favorites, follows, and story alerts.
Ever since I told Jack what was coming the Torchwood team has been working non stop to prepare. I had called Sarah Jane to let her know that something was going to happen so that she could warn her group.
I considered warning some of The Doctor's past companions that were still alive, but decided against it. They would know what to do, besides I would have to explain how I knew what was coming and I really didn't have time for that.
Suddenly a massive tremor broke out. Jack and I clung together, trying to steady ourselves. Then it stopped. "Whoa, what happened? Was it the Rift? Susan? Gwen? Ianto? You okay?" Jack asked.
"No broken bones. Slight loss of dignity. No change there then." Ianto said. I snorted and Ianto yelled, "Oi!" In my direction. I smiled.
"The whole of the city must've felt that. The whole of South Wales."
"I'm going to take a look outside. Coming, Susan?"
I shook my head. "I have to make some calls." I told him. Jack's eyes widened at our secret message which meant that all hell would soon break loose. Jack ran outside.
Ianto activated a computer screen. "A little bit bigger than South Wales." Ianto turned to me and asked, "Susan what happened?"
"It's started." I said coldly. Gwen and Ianto glanced at each other. They only knew that something was going to happen, not the full extent. They also knew about the parallel universe and the T.V. show thing.
I whipped out my cell, went to my office and called Sarah Jane. "Sarah, are you alright?" I asked, concerned.
"Yes, a little shaken but Luke and I are fine. Luke started the call chain after the tremor stopped."
"Don't go outside. Don't draw attention to yourselves. I'll keep in contact. Texts every hour and Luke?"
"Yeah?" I heard Luke say. I smiled. I knew I was on speaker phone.
"Take care of your Mom."
"Yes Ma'am." Luke said.
"Did you salute?" I asked.
A second of silence then, "No."
"Lire." I said, smiling. "See you around." Then I hung up.
Jack came into my office and shut the door. "So it's started then."
"Yeah."
"Will the Doctor come?" Jack asked.
"He always comes." I told him.
The door opened and Ianto said, "You two should see this." He left and we glanced at each other and followed him. We stopped at a T.V. "The United Nations has issued an edict, asking the citizens of the world not to panic. So far, there has been no explanation of the twenty six planets which have appeared in the sky." The reporter said.
Ianto changed the channel. Richard Dawkins was on a chat center. "But it's an empirical fact. The planets didn't come to us, we came to them. Just look at the stars. We're in a completely different region of space. We've travelled."
The channel switched. "Do you know what, I look up and there's all these moons and things. Have you seen them? Did you see them?"
"Yeah!" The audience yelled.
"I thought, what was I drinking last night, furniture polish?" Paul O'Grady said. Ianto laughs with the studio audience.
"Ianto. Time and a place." I said.
"He is funny, though." Ianto pouted.
"Gwen, come and see." Jack said.
Gwen walked into her room talking to her husband. "Rhys, I have no idea. Just stay indoors. And can you phone my mother? Tell her, er, oh, I don't know. Just tell her to take her pills and go to sleep. I'm going to come home as soon as I can, I promise. I love you, you big idiot. Yeah? Jack, what is it?"
"Someone's established an artificial atmospheric shell, keeping the air and holding in the heat." Jack said. Jack and I exchanged glances.
"Whoever's done this wants the human race alive. That's a plus. Twenty seven planets, including the Earth." As the planets on the scan move in their orbits, a flashing red dot appears in the middle. Ianto said.
"No, but what's that? That's not a planet."
"No it's not." I agreed.
"Three thousand miles and closing. But who are they?" Gwen asked Jack and me. "Why won't you tell us. We know that you know. We're not stupid."
Jack's mobile rings. Jack answered it and put it on speaker so I could hear. "Martha Jones, voice of a nightingale. Tell me you put something in my drink."
"No such luck. Have you heard from the Doctor?" Martha said.
"Not a word. Where are you?"
"New York." Martha replied.
"Ooo, nice for some."
"I've been promoted. Medical Director on Project Indigo." Martha said.
"Congratulations." I said, wincing at what happens. The team notices but doesn't say anything.
"Did you get that thing working?" Jack asked.
"Indigo's top secret. No one's supposed to know about it."
"I met a soldier in a bar, long story." Jack said.
I put my hands on my hips and raised an eyebrow. "When was that?"
"Strictly professional." Jack told me. I sighed.
"Fifteen hundred miles, boys, and accelerating. They're almost here." Gwen informed us.
Then we heard the word repeated over and over again. "Exterminate. Exterminate. Exterminate."
Even after telling Jack who it was he still was shocked. "No."
"Exterminate. Exterminate."
"Oh, no." Jack said.
"What is it? Who are they? Do you know them, Jack?" Gwen asked, startled at Jack's reaction.
Jack pulls me, Ianto and Gwen close, and kisses all of us on the head.
"Exterminate. Exterminate."
"There's nothing I can do." Jack told us.
"Exterminate."
"I'm sorry. We're dead." Jack said.
"The shields are down. There's too many of them. Abandon ship." The Captain yelled.
"Exterminate."
"The Valiant's down!" Jack yelled, running to a computer and typing at lightning speed.
"Air force retreating over North Africa. Daleks landing in Japan." Ianto said.
"We've lost contact with the Prime Minister's plane. Jack! Manhattan." Gwen said.
"Martha, get out of there." I yelled.
"I can't, Susan. I've got a job to do." Martha replied.
"They're targeting military bases." Jack said. "And you're next on the list."
Then I heard a mans voice. "Doctor Jones, you will come with me. Project Indigo is being activated. Quick march."
"But we can't use Project Indigo. It hasn't been tested, sir. We don't even know if it works."
"Put it on. Fast as you can."
"Martha, I'm telling you." Jack said. "Don't use Project Indigo. It's not safe!"
"You take your orders from UNIT, Doctor Jones. Not from Torchwood."
"Martha, please listen!" I begged her, although I knew it would't work.
"But why me?" Martha asked.
"You're our only hope of finding the Doctor. But failing that, if no help is coming, then with the power invested in me by the Unified Intelligence Taskforce, I authorise you to take this. The Osterhagen Key."
"I can't take that, sir." Martha said.
"You know what to do, for the sake of the human race."
"Daleks one five reaching north corridor." I heard a Dalek say from the phone.
"Exterminate. Exterminate."
"Doctor Jones, good luck."
"Exterminate. Exterminate. Exterminate."
"Bye, Susan, Jack."
"Martha, don't do it." Jack and I yelled.
"Don't!" I yelled. Jack kicks the desk in anger.
"What's Project Indigo?" Ianto asked.
"Experimental teleport salvaged from the Sontarans. But they haven't got coordinates, or stabilisation."
"So where is she?" Gwen asked.
"Scattered into atoms. Martha's down." Jack said.
"Jack." I said softly.
Jack whirled around and glared at me. "Don't talk to me."
I flinched back and ran out of the room. This shouldn't be happening. I should have told Jack that Martha survives from the beginning. But I didn't. I ran to the cars and jumped into ground two. I started the engines and sped away towards Donna's house with tears in my eyes.
I got to Donna's house, pulled in the driveway. I got out and saw Rose with her gun walking behind Wilf and Silvia, Donna's grandfather and mother. I walked up to them. "You're Rose Tyler, right?"
"Who wants to know?" Rose asked. "Wait a minute, I recognize you. You were with… Oh my God, how did I not recognize that?" Rose put a hand to her mouth.
"Susan Jane Anderson, former companion of The Doctor. My back stories really long so... short version? And to your question you're talking about New Years Eve, 2005, right?"
"Why don't we continue this inside." Rose said, glancing around the empty street.
I nodded, jumping with joy on the inside from meeting the famous Rose Tyler. "Yeah. Sure."
After we got inside and Donna's mother went to go make tea. "So, spill." Rose said. We were sitting on the couches, facing each other. Donna's father was hovering by the kitchen.
"Well, short short version is I come from a parallel universe where all this," I waved my hands around, "Is a television show called Doctor Who."
Rose laughed. "Nice name for it."
I gave a small smile. "Yeah. Long story short, The Daleks came into my universe, The Doctor and I saved the Earth, and he brought me into this universe but the problem is that now I know basically everything that is going to happen."
"This sounds impossible." Rose said.
"Try me." I told her. "You meet the Doctor at your old job in Hennriks Department Store in the basement. The first word The Doctor said to you was 'run'. You had a boyfriend named Mickey Smith who you left to go travel with The Doctor after saving the world from the Nesteen Conscious. The Doctor tried to get you back home in time but ended up a year late. You stopped world war three from happening with Harriet Jones, the former prime minister."
"You meet Captain Jack Harkness in 1941 when he tried to sell you a war ambulance. The Doctor regenerated on satellite 5 or The Game Station saving the Earth from the Daleks, again. You traveled again after that this time with Mickey. You ended up in Pete's world facing the cybermen and Mickey stayed behind to help. Then came Torchwood, the Battle of Canary Wolf and Bad Wolf Bay. You've been working to try to get back here ever since and now you finally did it."
Silence. I looked down the entire time so I would not see Rose's reaction. I heard Rose take a shaky laugh. "Okay, I believe you." I still wouldn't put my head up so Rose came over and sat beside me. "Hey, what's wrong." Rose said softly.
"Jack." I said softly. "He and I are… you know."
"Oh." Rose said understanding immediately. "What went wrong?"
"I forgot to tell him that someone important lived but I didn't have time and now he's mad at me because he thinks that person is…. Since I know mostly what's going to happen I feel like it's my fault. Now he hates me. The Doctor already kicked me out now Jack's doing the same."
A/N: Some notes on reviews:
ellethwen of lothlorien: Yep, she's back! The Daleks are defiantly coming!
Infinitish: Thanks! Oh there's defiantly a whole story behind Amelia Rose Harkness. But until that time comes, as River Song would say, Spoilers! :) Glad you like it!
