Chapter 34: Alliance
Rogue's POV
"Rogue! Do we really have to ask them for help!?" my obnoxious partner is begging me not to go to Fairy Tail, but it's kind of already too late. We were already right outside the Fairy Tail guild building in Magnolia.
"Too late Sting. Now brace yourself for impact in 3...2..." I shut my partner up and the doors of the guild were kicked open from inside. "...1" I muttered and quickly caught the fist that was clearly aimed for my face. The fist pulled back and I examined the three mages. There in front of us stood a woman clad in armour with scarlet hair, a half naked ice mage with raven hair, and an all-too-familiar fire dragon slayer with salmon pink hair.
"Have you Sabers come to die?" Erza stared us down with swords in her hand and shadows over her face. I kept my poker face and sweatdropped as Sting cowered behind me.
"Where's Lucy you jerks?! It's all because of you stupid Sabers!" Gray created two ice Excaliburs in his hands and prepared to strike. again, Sting stayed cowering behind me.
"Give Luce back to us Sabertooth! You don't deserve her!" Natsu lit his entire form with fire, but Sting finally reacted.
"WE don't deserve Lu-chan? She is my MATE Natsu-san. And you SHOULD know what that means. There's NO WAY you can't know what that means as a fellow dragon slayer!" Sting hissed and came out from behind me. He went into White Drive and I saw him, reel a fist back. Erza, Gray and Natsu flinched and I quickly shot a shadowy arm from Sting's own shadow and gripped his arm. I yanked my partner back and pinned him down behind me with my shadow.
"Sorry about that Natsu. Erza. Gray." I nodded to the three in turn and felt Sting struggle beneath my shadows.
"Lemme out Rogue! I can't let him talk about Lu-chan like that!" Sting hissed and tried to free himself with his own light power. I turned quickly with a glare that could rival Lucy's and held my katana to his neck.
"Shut you mouth Sting, or I'll chop you up before those Chizuko bitches do." I hissed and Sting froze with a nervous grimace. He nodded quickly and became obedient. "As I was saying, sorry for Sting's stupidity Fairies." I turned back to the three mages, but they didn't relax a bit.
"How do we know we can trust you?!" Gray and Natsu screamed furiously. Natsu's eyes were flaming, literally, and Erza and Gray mimicked him.
"I came here for your help, Fairy Tail." I spoke calmly despite their obvious threats. Staying unfazed, Erza the Titania also settled down a bit.
"Why would Sabertooth come to US for help? This is a first." Erza pondered and eyed Sting suspiciously.
"May I please talk with your Master? You three can stay in the room during my conversation." I proposed and Erza seemed a little hesitant.
"Erza! You can't trust these guys!" Natsu raged and got ready to punch me in the gut. But I didn't flinch and knew Erza would simply punch him in the gut and send him flying.
"Shut up Natsu. We'll let Rogue do as he says. Sting will come with us though." she confirmed and nodded.
"I don't really like this, but if Erza says so then I'll accept it. " Gray looked at my with a disapproving look and I simply bowed.
"Come." Erza spoke with authority as she grabbed Natsu by his collar and I wrapped my shadows around Sting to drag my own idiotic partner with us. The ferocious scarlet haired mage led me straight to the second floor and to Master Makarov's office. "Master, Sabertooth is here to talk with you." Erza knocked and a short 'Enter.' was heard from inside. She promptly opened the door and laid Natsu down outside.
"Hmm, welcome Rogue-kun. And you can leave Sting in here. We'll keep him and Natsu apart." Makarov spoke wisely and we all cringed at the amount of damage the two could do if they were left alone with each other.
"Ahem." I cleared my throat and left Sting to the side of the room as Gray shut the door. "Well, I'm glad to be welcomed here."
"You're not really welcome, but Fairy Tail doesn't turn away someone in need." Erza piped up.
"So, what's the problem? It's not everyday a Saber will come to the fairies for help." Makarov chuckled and i turned serious.
"Yes. This problem includes Lucy..." I spoke carefully and explained Lucy's kidnapping after the GMG, her alter personality, Last Demise's power and Sting's humiliating beat-down. "I had recorded Sting's fight with lacrima and brought the lacrima with me." I laid the crystal out and powered it with my magic. A screen popped up and the fight showed Sting's confrontation with Kiyu, Ayumi and Azumi. Erza was analyzing the swordsmanship used in the video and Gray was looking for anything out of the ordinary within the video or guild. Makarov watched the scenes calmly and went into deep thought.
"So you want to request help from Fairy Tail to save Lucy and release her from Last Demise's control?" Makarov clarified and I nodded.
"Sting stupidly tried to take the guild on by himself, and got pathetically beaten to a pulp. I thought you, Fairy Tail, would be willing to help since Lucy once was your comrade. Sting isn't too happy with the idea, because he believes your guild hurt Lucy first. Which is partly true, but you wouldn't leave an old comrade to the realm of Hades would you?" I cleverly persuaded them to help. Erza bit her lip in what looked like an attempt to say something extremely insulting to me. I raised an eyebrow, "if you have something to say, then say it Scarlet. I don't care if it's insulting and disrespectful. Just make sure Sting isn't conscious if that comment is about Lucy."
Erza flinched and quickly glanced at Sting who was clearly still out cold. She took in a deep breath and released her thoughts, "I would be willing to help for Lucy, but I have a question What would Fairy tail get out of it? Lucy is still Sting's mate and she hates our guts anyways. She was weak before when she left anyways so why would we help her now!? She let us die before!" Erza's voice gradually grew too a rather loud furious tone from a calm and collected façade. I shushed the raging requip mage and spoke up.
"You're wrong. Lucy didn't let you die. At the moment, she didn't know that she had possession over that spell. Her body acted on its own and reflexively used the spell. Due to the hash toll it takes to cast such a high-level spell, her mind had locked it away for only the most desperate times. And due to the fact that she didn't want you guys, her most dear family, to die the seal on the spell in her mind was released. Lucy's body coursed with magic power that was released almost all at once. You must also take in the fact that there were quite a few people she had to teleport to safety, so her mind was worn out afterwards." I explained and left Erza and Gray speechless. I continued the rest of the explanation in the silence, "Lucy's Hoshi Hikari teleportation spell collects all the light around her and borrows the power of the stars to create an illusion and warp light and space in order to teleport to a safer destination. Also, considering the guild was too far away from your danger zone to transport a large group of people, she could only take you to your inn. While Natsu, Gray and Erza were currently fighting for their lives and Lucy was unconscious, Lucy talked to her mother in her dream. The contact with a spiritual being and the will to save those precious to her drove her to use the spell." I finished speaking and Erza was frozen. Gray had jaw dropped and Makarov nodded in concentration.
"I-I-I didn't know...Lucy...was in so much pain. Why didn't I think about the magic toll on her body?!" Erza snapped back to reality first and crouched on the ground, crying.
"Lucy...And we did all those terrible things to her. I knew it was wrong, but I couldn't stop myself at the time. I put...my own life before thinking about my savior." Gray covered his eyes with a palm and tears stroked his cheeks. Silence overtook the room before Master Makarov spoke.
"Well, now that Team Natsu has realized their mistake, I assume you are ready to assist Lucy?" he clarified and Erza nodded.
"We'll lay down our lives to help Sting recover his mate and our lost nakama the same way she had gone to the danger to save our lives." Erza recovered and gave me her full attention.
"Thank you for the help, Fairy Tail. However, I believe this will be sufficient. I still need to go to Sabertooth and ask them for assistance. After Sting's attack, the whole of Last Demise will most likely be more prepared and have tighter defences. We'll head out a week from today to allow Sting some time to heal. I'll send an exceed with a message when we're ready so please gather together a few mages fit for the job." I took a deep breath and sighed.
"Hey, I've also been meaning to ask you this Rogue..." Gray piped up and hesitated. "Were you always a talker? I swear you never used to talk." my eyebrow twitched as he pointed out my most prominent feature.
"I talk more now, because I have to keep Lucy and sting in check whenever they're together or else we'd never finish a single mission." I clarified and spun back around. "Well, Sting and I shall take our leave now. Please stay on hold, Fairy Tail." Erza and Gray escorted me outside. I walked through the guild hall and searched the for a certain little bluenette.
"Rogue-kun?" Levy was with her team and a few ways away from Gajeel, who was currently chewing on some metal. She ran to me with a bright smile, "What is Sabertooth doing here?" Levy asked after eyeing Sting who was now released from my shadows and awake with some rational train of thought.
"I just needed to speak to Master Makarov about Sting's mate." Levy's eyes widened.
"Lu-chan? How is she anyways? I haven't been able to contact her these past few days." Levy bit her lip in worry.
"Ahem, Lucy's situation is currently...sensitive. You can talk to your master if you want to know the details." I didn't bother to sugarcoat the truth no matter how horrifying my words must have sounded to the little protective script mage.
"Lu-chan...I hope she's safe anyways." Levy prayed and I nodded. I could feel her gaze following my retreating back as I left the guild with Sting following.
Levy's POV
I watched as Rogue-kun and Sting-san left the guild hall. Moments later, I felt an arm rest on my head. "What's up shortie? Gihi." Gajeel stood behind me and used me as an armrest. I shrugged him off and turned back to my seat without a word. I needed to think and wanted to be left alone. Before Gajeel could do anything, I quickly surrounded a soundproof barrier around myself to avoid any interruptions. "Oi! Shrimp! Did I do something?" Gajeel pounded against my barrier and I shook my head silently. I didn't want to handle the antics of the guild for the day so I ran out and made my way to Lucy's apartment. When I stepped in, the room was still abandoned. It's been abandoned for so long, but those in the guild that miss her keep the room rented out in hopes that Lucy will return to us, to Fairy Tail.
"Lu-chan..." I trailed off and sat on her bed in the empty room, void of any other life. I thought about Sting and Lucy together. "They probably have a pretty happy relationship...Now what about me? Who do I love?" I questioned to the air and was met with silence. "Lu-chan...what would you say?" Rogue's smiling face at the GMG flashed through my mind and I smiled in content, but my face dropped when Gajeel's laughing face took over my thoughts. "Is it wrong to have feelings for a Saber and a Fairy?" I hugged my knees as tears silently slid down my cheeks.
"Levy...Just follow your heart. Which one do you feel the most comfortable with? I chose Sting because he made me happy. I loved him." An imaginary Lucy appeared by my side and hugged my figure.
"But, I used to love Gajeel and now I want to stay with Rogue..." I bit my lip and shook my head in confusion. "I don't know anymore!"
A/N: Okay! This chapter is done! The story might just go a few more chapters and I'm ending this, so thank you to all who have kept reading this far! Even though some of the leading chapters really sucked. =P I'm out!~
