Will POV
It was my turn to wake up next to my soulfinder nestled into my chest, my arms nestled around her. I must have done it in my sleep, the last memory is conking out as soon as I hung up with Vick. I stretch an arm over my head and feel around for the phone, my muscles stretching as much as they could without disrupting Willow.
She never ceased to be perfect in the most confusing of ways to me but there was something… Different waking up beside her, every defence down, at… half two in the afternoon. Vick should be calling me soon to tell us where these Brits would pick us up. Sighing, I slapped the phone back down and buried my face into Willow's pillow, just above her mess of damp curls. I groaned softly. I needed to shower myself.
It was incredibly difficult to part from her in such a perfect moment but yeah, I stank. I sat up, flexing and giving my wrists a quick twist. I grabbed one of Heather's towels and went through a shopping bag for some fresh clothes.
The steam and water worked its way through me and it was a relief to shed that grimy feeling. I dried off quickly. I nicked someone's spray deodorant and decided to nab a razor and a fresh blade while I was at it. I stuck a fiver in the packet before I left. I was giving my hair a last towelling when I heard Heather's phone ringing. I swore and hurried back.
'Wha mime fis ish?' Willow mumbled, pulling the sheets. I chuckled softly, running one of her stray curls through my fingers as I answered the phone.
'Will,' Vick said immediately, 'We finally got FBI clearance to come over and bring in those involved in your kidnapping two hours ago. We got the first flight out. I can disclose now that Lucas and Scott Robinson, both Savants, will be touching down in Phoenix Park at the Wellington Monument at 15:15.'
'So quarter past three?'
I heard my older brother sigh. 'Yes, can you get there by then?'
'Yes big bro. See you later.'
'Be safe. From what we know those involved are still in the country.'
'Got it. Thanks Vick.'
He hung up the phone without another word. I checked the time. We had about forty minutes. A quick Google map search showed we were twenty minutes away. I tucked the phone in my back pocket and climbed on top of the covers. Lying on my side, I pushed back some of Willow's curls to see her peaceful expression, one thumb against her lips while her other fingers fluttered in a half-hearted gesture asking me to leave her alone.
'Wills, we have to leave now. Going to call a taxi, ok?'
'Do we have to?'
I laughed under my breath. 'Yeah, you grab whatever and I will go call for a taxi, ok?'
'Ok,' she sighed. She pinched the bridge of her nose, her forehead wrinkling in annoyance. It was instinct to lean down and kiss her forehead to smoothen out the creases. And she never failed to surprise as she arched up her face and met my lips. All those emotions that had burned below the surface released like a dam breaking. I gasped and deepened the kiss. There was no question we were awake now. This intense rush of emotion would have knocked me over had we not been lying down.
And it was this near choking onslaught of emotion that had me break the kiss far sooner than I wanted. I pushed myself back, lying on my back to look at the ceiling. I felt the bed move as Willow propped herself up beside me. She seemed almost… embarrassed I guessed when I turned to look at her, as she chewed on her bottom lip. I guess I was not the only one who was trying to repress feelings. But even the strongest willpower could crack under the undeniable pull of a soulfinder bond. 'Sorry,' she muttered. Yet her eyes sparkled with mischief as they flicked down to look at my eyes. Naturally I gravitated towards her again before she hurried to add 'Eh, taxi Will?'
I smirked at her harried tone. 'Got it.' I replied, though it embarrassingly came out half choked. This time she leaned in, hesitating a moment before gently kissing along my jawline.
'Well, hurry on.'
'Very well Ms. Wills.' She fought back a smile as I felt heat rising up along my neck.
I got up and headed downstairs, already dialling a cab as I walked. The TV still blared from the living room so I head down the hall to the kitchen. A few utility bills that are taped up give me the address and within a minute, I have a cab booked. Luckily, the company had a cab driver nearby who assured me he would be here in no more than ten minutes. I hang up, slotting the phone in my backpocket. I give my throat a rub and a few coughs before heading back to the bedroom.
Willow has another clean top on and is pulling on a jumper as I enter. I lean against the door frame until her head pops up as she pulls the fabric into place. She shakes her head as she fluffs out her hair. I raise my eyebrows towards her before packing up our stuff into two cheap backpacks we had the foresight to buy.
In response she rolls her eyes. 'Stop looking at me like that.'
I snort and shoulder one backpack as I talk. My shoulders feel tight but I ignore it. Willow picks up the other one. 'Firstly, we have a taxi arriving any minute so lets head outside to wait. And like what?'
She sighs, leading the way down the stairs. 'Like, I cannot believe I am saying this out loud…' she rambles.
Like you are the most beautiful, incredible, most intelligent woman I have ever seen.
I more so sense her blush through the bond rather than see it. She puts a hand on the doorknob to head outside so I quickly slide in behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist and resting my chin on her shoulder. I turn my mouth to her ear and I take it as a good sign she does not shy away from our close proximity.
'I know you can tell I mean it,' I say gently, 'Can I… Can I ask is there anything holding you back?' I can feel my heart pound a little harder as I force the words out. My throat feels near swollen shut with... Nerves?
'Right now, I cannot think of anything.' She pauses but continues quickly telepathically. I feel like I should be scared. I mean, we were kidnapped and nearly killed. I bring her a little closer as I feel the tremor of nerves in her voice. I should be having nightmares and be out of my wits with worry. I still feel on edge but around you… I can feel her hesitate. I just feel right. Like… You were made to be there for me and… I for you.
I can tell it took a lot for her to open up like that and my heart tightens with new versions of the feelings I have had ever since I met her. I promise you right now I will always be there for you. No matter what. And you can trust that Willow. I love you too much to let you be alone.
Gently she peels away my hands and for a soul crushing second, I fear I have said too much. Shown too much. Except, she simply gives herself enough space to turn in my arms and give me the most breathtakingly beautiful of kisses. We move forward so she leans against the door as I meet her every curve in the closest of embraces. The kiss is soft yet passionate and warms up my entire body. I know neither of us have ever felt this alive.
I love you too. She replies as the kiss ends, though we remain no more than a hair's width apart. A horn beeps twice from outside. 'Probably our ride.' Willow says. Reluctantly, we part and head out on the street.
Across the road, the taxi has parked in one of the few free spaces. Willow leads the way, glancing down the street before we head over to the car. 'I will take the far side.' I say walking around the back of the taxi, 'Feel free to take shotgun.'
She gives me a roll of her eyes over the roof of the car before she slides in when I feel it. The tension along my shoulders and pulling at my throat were not injuries. Enough parts of me ached that I should have seen them for what they were.
Warnings. My danger radar goes on overload. Thankfully I notice Willow already has gotten in the car. Instinct compels me to look behind me. At the far end of the street a fast moving SUV approaches. I freeze in shock for a second before hurrying to climb into the car.
'If you get us to the Wellington monument in under ten minutes there will be a €200 tip.' I say as the taxi driver pulls out.
'Ya kidding mate?'
I throw the money into the cupholder by the gearstick. 'Try me. More if you get us there in 5.'
The young guy seems up to the challenge and guns the car. We slam back in our seats. Willow turns back to look at me. WHAT THE HELL WILL?!
We have company. I jerk my head back. Her eyes look over my shoulder and widen in terror.
Is that…
Looks like Elisavet caught up. She has a particular brand of danger that is unforgettable. And she is hot on our tail.
