"Lucy, over here!" Lisanna motioned at the blonde as she entered the guild. It was Sunday and girls had all agreed to meet at the guild and go shopping. Predictably, the girls had gathered around a table at the guild and appeared to be gossiping.
Lucy took a seat between Lisanna and Cana and grabbed one of the empty glasses. Everyone but Cana was drinking from a pitcher of lemonade, and she poured herself a glass and took a sip.
"So Lucy," Cana said in a tone that made the blonde immediately suspicious. "We're discussing an interesting little question."
"Oh…?" Lucy shifted uncomfortably in her chair. Usually when Cana used that tone she was about to cause some kind of trouble.
Cana swirled her finger around in her drink. "Mhmmm," she hummed. "So let me ask you this." She stared at Lucy intently. "Be totally objective, all right?"
"All right…" Lucy said, growing more suspicious by the moment.
"Who's the hottest guy in Fairy Tail?" Cana asked with a smirk. The other girls giggled and leaned in, waiting for her response.
"Eh?" The blonde leaned back and put an arm up as if in defense of something. "That's a loaded question!"
"No it's not," Cana contended, but her eyes hinted otherwise.
"Who do you think the hottest guy is then?" She demanded.
"I went with Loke," Cana said casually, taking a sip of her drink. "He's a good looking guy, and he's certainly gotten his share of girls."
Lucy crossed her arms. "Okay, who did you say, Evergreen?" She turned to the girl, who was reviewing a fashion magazine.
"I said Laxus of course," she said without looking up from the page. "The rest of these guys are just boys."
Lucy saw Mira and Lisanna purse their lips at the affront to their brother, but they didn't comment. Instead, Mira turned her bright smile to Lucy and expressed her opinion on the matter.
"I think it's Natsu!"
Lucy stared at the barmaid, clearly shocked by the declaration. "Why…why Natsu?"
"Because he's a fire dragonslayer! He's definitely the hottest!"
The other girls choked on their drinks. "That's not what I meant by hottest and you know it!" Cana shouted. Mirajane just giggled.
"Well, technically that's a totally objective answer…" Lucy said weakly.
"If we're being objective, I actually think Gray's probably the most conventionally attractive," Lisanna said, earning her a scary look from Juvia. "Not that he's my type or anything…" she added quickly.
"Obviously Gray-sama is the most attractive," Juvia agreed.
"And we've certainly seen enough of him to make that call!" Cana cackled.
"You can't count out Gajeel though," Levy added in a soft voice.
"Gajeel's scary looking with all those piercings," Bisca said. "I'm bias but I'm going to say Alzack is the most attractive."
"Of course you'd say that," Cana teased. "Your opinion doesn't count for much though." She turned to Erza, who hadn't said anything. "Who do you vote for?"
"M…Me?" Erza turned bright red, which was always a fun sight because her skin matched her hair. "I don't know…Mystogan?"
"You're just saying that because he shares a face with Jellal," Cana pouted. "You guys aren't being objective at all." She turned her attention back to Lucy. "Will you answer already?"
"The hottest guy….?" Lucy crossed her arms and legs and thought hard. Fairy Tail certainly had a fair share of good-looking guys. She knew how she wanted to answer, but she also knew Cana would never let her live it down. She couldn't possibly answer. "I don't really think of my nakama that way," she said, putting her hands up in front of her.
"LIAR!" Cana accused, pointing dramatically. "Someone must come to mind. Someone you think about in bed at night…" She grinned at Lucy through hooded eyes.
Lucy saw an image in her head and felt herself turn pink. "It's not fair to make me tell you that!" She squealed, throwing her hands up. "That's not objective at all!"
"So there is someone?" Lisanna asked coyly.
"Awww, you have to tell us Lucy!" Mira squealed.
Lucy felt herself getting lightheaded. She knew she couldn't resist the Strauss sisters for long.. "There is…but you guys will go report to him right away!"
"I would never do that," Mira said seriously. Lucy wanted to believe her, but there was a dangerous twinkle in her eye.
"Just spill the beans, kiddo," Cana said, curling her arm around Lucy's shoulder.
Lucy looked at Levy for help, but found her friend's face buried in a romance novel. "Et tu, Levy-chan?" She asked desperately.
Levy looked up from her book and shrugged apologetically. "I answered, Lu-chan. We're all just curious."
As a last ditch effort Lucy turned to Erza, the strongest of them all, and her first female friend in Fairy Tail. But the redhead was still lost in a daydream that Lucy assumed must involve Jellal. Sighing in defeat, she whispered a name under her breath.
"I'm sorry? I didn't catch that," Cana said, cupping her hand to her ear.
"Mhhmmhm," Lucy muttered slightly louder.
"One more time," Cana said.
"IT'S NATSU OKAY?" Lucy jumped up and slammed her hands on the table. "That's the answer you were all expecting anyway. God you guys are jerks!" She turned to stalk out, and was met with a face full of dragonslayer chest.
"What're you yellin' my name for?" Natsu asked. Lucy promptly turned red.
"No reason," she said, pushing past him and walking out the guild doors. Natsu watched her go with wide innocent eyes.
"I didn't do that, did I?" He asked Lisanna, taking Lucy's vacated seat.
Lisanna giggled. "Technically you did."
"Eh?" Natsu took a sip of Lucy's abandoned lemonade as he awaited a response.
"That's indirect kissing, you know," Cana said. Natsu raised an eyebrow.
"What the heck're you guys talkin' about?" He asked. The girls just giggled.
"Oh you know, just how Lucy thinks about you in bed at night," Cana said.
Natsu blinked, then leaned back and laughed. "Well of course she does – we sleep together most nights after all."
Evergreen, who didn't know the details of the perfectly innocent (if not painfully oblivious) relationship between Lucy and Natsu, spit her lemonade everywhere. "The same bed most nights?" She said in an unnaturally high voice."
Natsu shrugged. "Sure. I like staying at Lucy's place." With that, he stood up and left.
Evergreen watched him go, then turned to the other girls. "They sleep in the same bed? Most nights?!"
Erza snapped out of her daze and answered affirmatively. "They've been doing that for months," she said.
"Months?" Evergreen looked to the others for confirmation. Shocked, she leaned back in her seat with her hands on her temples. "To think I would have less experience than that Celestial Spirit brat…"
"Are you getting ideas?," Mira asked, her deep blue eyes piercing into the other woman with calculated threat.
"Mira-nee, that's none of your business," Lisanna said.
Cana was cackling . "Now that she's said it out loud, how long before they actually start dating?"
"They're not even dating?!" Evergreen was sufficiently horrified and no one was clarifying for her.
"Knowing Natsu, it'll take years," Lisanna said somewhat wistfully.
"With Lu-chan, I second that," Levy said.
"I don't know, I think things have been progressing," Mira said, the twinkle returning to her eye. "They just need a little push."
"I'm taking bets," Cana said, pulling out her trusty bidding board. "Who's down for six months from now?"
Abruptly, Evergreen stood up. "Where's Elfman?"
Mira glanced at her. "I thought everyone but Laxus was just a boy."
Evergreen looked at her through her glasses. "I can't be bettered by that Celestial Spirit child," she said. "I am Evergreen, top female mage in Fairy Tail!" Erza shot her a look. "Except for Titania of course…" she backtracked. "Anyway, I have to find Elfman." With that, she took off.
Once she was out of sight, Mira grinned. "I can't believe how well that worked!" She exclaimed to her sister.
"You planned that?" Bisca asked.
"Anything for Elf-nii," Lisanna said, her eyes twinkling with the same mischief as Mira's.
"You made us put Lu-chan through all that when it was really all about Ever and Elfman?" Levy was frowning. "That was cruel."
"Maybe we should apologize…" Mira said uncertainty. Even Cana looked slightly abashed.
"I wouldn't worry about it," Erza said. The girls turned to her with interest.
"What do you mean?"
"Last time I went over to Lucy's I found men's underwear on the floor…and Gray hadn't been over in weeks."
