Chapter 33: Day Two
The boys began their second day with breakfast! Jeff and Nick seemed more or likely normal, and the rest of the family seemed at peace. Not that breakfast was what you would expect, just that to them it seemed normal. Shelly didn't make breakfast, the kids got what they wanted themselves, Wayne didn't even eat breakfast. Jason, ate some Captain Crunch Cocoa cereal and talked about going to meet up with his girlfriend Kathy. Shelly, had some toast and eggs, then went to living room to watch television. Bridgette, sat with Kurt, Sebastian, Jeff, and Nick as they talked about going to Victoria Park.
"You boys better have brought your swim stuff!" Bridgette said excitedly.
"Why, I thought we were going to the park?" Jeff said.
"There's a pool at the park," Sebastian explained, "also, there's an ice-cream shop!" he said, as Nick's eyes twinkled.
"What are we waiting for?" Kurt asked happily.
"You boys go get your trunks, and I'll get the bottles of water and snacks!" Bridgette offered.
"Sure," Sebastian commented as they got up to go to their rooms.
When Kurt and Sebastian were getting dressed in their trunks and t-shirts Kurt grabbed the sunscreen he brought.
"Sebastian, I'm rethinking this! I burn really easily. Also, what if it gets awkward. I don't really know your family at all, and I don't know one thing about P.E.I.," Kurt worried.
"First of all babe, My family will love you just like I do. This trip involves you getting to know them. Not to mention, Bridgette is a very different girl. I swear she gets along with people right away, and she starts treating you like a best friend 10 minutes after you meet. I wouldn't be surprised if she started dragging you everywhere!" Sebastian smiled, "Second, I'll put the sun lotion on you at the park. Promise." Sebastian gave him a wink, and slapped his ass.
"You'll be the death of me I tell you!" Kurt snaps, but laughs anyway.
"So, when we get there we'll go to the ice-cream shop, then down to the park, then to the pool" Sebastian decides.
"When will you and Bridgette talk?" Kurt questioned.
"When were at the park. She loves the swings. Well she did when I last talked to her. So you can keep Niff out of trouble while we talk." he tells Kurt.
"Great," Kurt says and comes over to kiss him.
"Where's Bridge?" Sebastian asks Shelly as they enter the living room, eyeing a the bag of stuff Bridgette had mentioned.. All four ready to go.
"She's changing I think." Shelly answered, as he turns she speaks again, "Sebastian, keep Bridgette out of trouble, and have her back by 7:30. And if you get in any trouble here, I will send you straight home boy." she warns.
"I love you too, Aunt Shelly," he says as he rushes off to Bridgette's room.
"Kurt!" Sebastian calls from Bridgette's room.
Kurt comes running. "Is everything okay?" he asks worried.
"No," Bridgette says flatly.
"Can you help my cousin pick a freaking bathing suit. She's picking an outfit like she's a freaking model, and doesn't like my opinion." Sebastian says annoyed.
"What is your opinion?" Kurt asks.
"The blue one," Sebastian says, as Bridgette holds up a blue and black bikini, and red and white bikini, while a black and white tankini lies on the bed.
"Why?" Kurt questions.
"Blue's a nice color" he says.
"No wonder she's not taking your advice." Kurt answers, " Okay, the red one is the ugliest thing I've ever seen, and I've gone to McKinley high school. And the blue one shows too much skin, plus it doesn't look like it would fit you well. I'd go with the black and white. It's nice, the colors work obviously, and it covers your stomach. That's just my opinion." Kurt ends his little speech shyly, realizing he just gave a too personal opinion to a young girl he barely knows yet.
"Wow, thanks Kurt! Sebastian, can I borrow your boyfriend on the first day of school?" she asks in a joking manner.
Before Sebastian could answer Kurt did, "Of course you can! Sebby doesn't mind right Sebastian?" Kurt asked sweetly obviously joking.
"Shut up!" Sebastian shoots at him playfully. "Hurry up and get ready, well be in the living room."
"Okay!" She says and goes to change.
They decided to walk to the park considering it wasn't that far. Nick and Jeff had linked hands and were talking excitedly about how beautiful the island was. Kurt and Sebastian were listening to Bridgette go on about school, and friends, and her new dog that was being brought over to the house later that day.
Suddenly she stopped talking, "Everything okay? "Sebastian asked alarmed.
"Yeah, one second! I'll be right back, you keep going and I'll catch up!" she said, then bolted over to two girls on the sidewalk.
Nick and Jeff looked over, "Everything cool?" Nick asked.
"Yeah, " Sebastian answers, "You and Jeff go on ahead, we'll be right there."
Sebastian and Kurt walked over to where the three girls were. "Bridge, you can't just run off... your mom willkill me!" Sebastian jokes lightly.
"Sorry," she apologizes then remembers the two girls staring at Kurt and Sebastian in confusion. "Oh, Kurt and Sebastian this is Sandy and Bailey! My two best friends." she said happily.
"Hello," Sebastian greets them, "I'm Sebastian, Bridge's cousin, and this is Kurt!"
"His boyfriend," Bridgette grins at her own words.
"Oh, that's so cute!" Bailey says.
"I know," Bridgette says with a laugh.
Kurt looked at the three talking about them as if they weren't there, not that they were saying anything rude... it was just weird.
"Well," Sandy says, "we gotta head of to the comic-book store! See you later!" she smiled.
The three girls hugged, and Bailey kissed Bridgette's cheek! "Bye!" she said as they walked away, in the opposite direction of the park.
"They seem nice," Kurt said as they began walking to catch up with Nick and Jeff.
"Yeah, you all seem close," Sebastian winked.
"Very funny Sebastian, no we're just friends! I mean Bailey's straight, Sandy's bi but has a boyfriend, not to mention... I'm dating," she said then looked anywhere but her cousin.
"What?" Sebastian asked, "why was I not informed of this the minute we landed."
"It's not a big deal!" Bridgette brushed it off. "His names Andrew, he's 14 as well, and is very nice." she informed them, with a smile on her face.
"Andrew?" Sebastian repeated, "Does he treat you right?" he asked.
"Seb, I've got enough big brothers. He treats me perfectly fine! Please, I had to initiate our first kiss. He's really shy," she said the last part quietly.
"He does anything he shouldn't, and you tell me." Sebastian said squarely.
"Oh my god, you're so annoying. Come on, I want ice cream." She said, and turned to the ice cream shop about a block away.
When they got there Jeff and Nick were sharing a cup of what looked to be "Moon Rocks".
"What do you want Bridge?" Sebastian asked.
"I'm getting Cookie Dough!" She says excitedly, as Sebastian reached for his wallet, "Oh, hell no. You're not paying for me. I have my own money," Bridgette says.
"So, save it." Sebastian tells her and looks back to his wallet.
"No." she says firmly, "I'm paying for myself." she argues.
"Bridgette, I thought you were over this. You never let me buy you anything." he says annoyed.
"Too bad, deal with it." she says, and pulls out ten dollars.
She walked up to the counter and ordered. "I can't believe her," Sebastian huffs, with a shake of his head.
"Why not?" Kurt asks taking out his own wallet.
"What are you doing?" Sebastian questions.
"Paying for us," he says nonchalant.
"I thought I was paying," Sebastian challenged.
"You thought wrong," Kurt says with a smile.
"I love you," Sebastian says, and kisses Kurt lightly.
Kurt blushes, "Sebastian, do you really think that's a good idea," he asks.
Sebastian knew Kurt would be hesitant to do anything in the new surroundings, kiss, hold hands, probably even hug for crying out loud.
"Kurt, don't worry. We're fine. Here is more open then Ohio," Sebastian assures him yet again.
"Everywhere is more open than Ohio," Kurt comments, "I just don't want to start anything with the locals." Kurt says.
"Okay, first you make it sound like some island in the Caribbean, second it's completely fine." Sebastian could see Kurt wasn't convinced, "fine, don't believe me... I'll prove it," he smirks.
Sebastian moved in and planted his lips firmly on Kurt's, at first Kurt felt very uncomfortable and lightly pushed on his chest. But, Kurt finally melted into the kiss and kissed him back. They finally broke apart for air, and Kurt stared at Sebastian wide-eyed.
"Kurt, before you freak... look around." Sebastian instructed.
Kurt looked, nothing seemed out of place. No one was shooting them dirty looks, or saying anything, but what really struck Kurt was no one was even looking. Everyone was just going about their day. "See," Sebastian whispered, "No one cares Kurt. We can be exactly who we are."
Kurt just smiled up at him and whispered, "Thank you."
"For what?" Sebastian asked.
"For bringing me here, away from Lima," he said in a wistful voice.
When they got down to the park, Jeff and Nick headed straight for the pool. "Okay, you go change, and we'll meet you in the pool," Sebastian tells Bridgette.
"Sure," she smiled and ran off to the changing room.
Kurt and Sebastian went into the changing room and left their shirts with Jeff and Nicks, then went out a different door that led to the pool. Jeff and Nick were in the shallow end playing marco-polo like little kids. Bridgette came out of the changing room and dived into the deep-end. The life-guard was about to tell her that you weren't allowed to dive, when he saw the splash, only to stop at seeing Bridgette.
"Bridgette!" he said happily, coming over to say hello.
"Andrew, hey. I wasn't aware you were working today." she says and she swims up to him.
They end up sitting side-by-side with only their legs in the water. Sebastian watched his cousin with uneasy eyes. The boy Andrew, who he assumed was her Andrew, had his arm around her and they were chatting brightly.
"Calm down, Bas." Kurt said from beside him, "she's fine and you worry too much," before Sebastian could reply Kurt pushed him into the deep end.
When Sebastian came up Kurt was laughing and Bridgette's boyfriend had got up, "Hey, sorry dude but no pushing," he said lightly.
"Oh, Andrew," Bridgette says excitedly, "this is Sebastian my cousin and his boyfriend Kurt," she smiled.
"Oh, uh... hey," he said not really looking at either.
Kurt immediately sensed something was off with the boy, but decided it was just nerves, with being around Bridgette's cousin and all.
"Hey," Sebastian said back, while leaning against the side off the pool beckoning Kurt to join him. Kurt slipped into the pool, and came up beside him.
They hung out in the pool for a while, around a half-hour later Andrew was off the clock and was heading home. "Bye," Bridgette said and quickly kissed him.
She was embarrassed because her cousin was around.
Andrew waved as he left and the other four chose to get out of the pool, and go chill at the bench Bridgette was sitting at. Sebastian asked Bridgette if she wanted to go hang out on the swings, and they ran off while Kurt talked to Jeff and Nick.
"So..." Bridgette said when they had sat down.
"So what?" Sebastian asked.
"Come on, I've known your I wanna talk face since second grade you idiot." she laughed.
"How are you?" he asked instead of beating around the bush.
"Fine," she said with a shrug.
"Okay." he said, "How are you really?" he asked again.
"Truthfully?" she asked, "Life sucks. It just goddamn sucks. I'm still depressed, paranoid, and my anxiety attacks are a bitch," she laughed.
"Okay, first... don't curse. Second, I'm sorry I haven't been around to help with this. My Mom and Dad were just waiting for 'the right time' to tell me." he said sadly.
"It's okay cus. I don't think you could have done much. I mean, we lost the case... sexist judge." she muttered the last part.
"I'm so sorry Bridge, I really am," he smiled but it didn't reach his eyes.
"It's okay Seb, can we just forget it happened," she asked clearly upset.
"Well, I don't think you'd be able to do that. Bridge, you have to deal with this or it'll eat you up, you need to attack this head on," he said encouragingly.
"Excuse me?" she asked offended, "what do you think I've been doing?" she asked upset.
"Moping," Sebastian chose the tough love approach, "Look, I love you so much, but you're ignoring this and it's just gonna build up until one day you explode." he told her firmly.
"Sebastian," she started to cry, "it's too hard. I don't get it... why me?" she asked.
"Bridgette, I can't answer that. No one can, I think the best way to deal with that question... is to stop asking it." he told her and bent over his swing to kiss the top of her head.
"Thanks," she whispered brokenly.
"Come on, let's go talk to the others," he smiled and stood up.
"Seb?" he turned back, "this isn't the end of this conversation is it?"
"It is for now," he smiled.
They came back to the three boys talking about the Confederation Center.
"Oh, we could see the art there," Bridgette said still slightly upset, but sounded excited, "I love it there, so beautiful."
"Bridge," Sebastian in a voice usually used when explaining something to a child, "You understand you're a teenager right?"
"So, I'm not allowed to enjoy art?" she asked.
"No." he said, "you have to be I don't know rebellious or something." he shrugged.
"Seb, don't encourage her to be bad." Kurt said annoyed.
"I am rebellious. My friend want me to ditch school and do drugs. I stay in class and read books." she answered.
"Yeah, I'm done," Sebastian said.
"Of course we can go see the art." Jeff said.
"We should probably tell your mom where we're going though," Sebastian said.
He called Bridgette's mom and left a message telling her where they'd be. On the way to the Confed Center they got some Cow's ice cream. It was epensive but worth it. Kurt was really enjoying the islnd and decided he was going to have the summer of his life.
A/N: Hey, so how much do I suck? I'm only what? Like a year late with this? I went through a lot. I know not good enough. I'm so sorry truly But, my muse is alive and well again and my writing's improved. So I should be back to normal soon. Thoughts on Andrew?
