Epilogue
"Help me! Help!"
"I'm here, Doctor, I'm here."
The Valeyard fought against Kraid's assisting hand as he tore himself away from the Matrix. Jumping from the chair he collapsed to the floor when his feet failed to support him. With his mind reeling the Valeyard reached up and tangled his hands into his hair as he screamed at the top of his lungs. Kraid clicked his mandibles in concern as the Valeyard looked up at him with a golden glow streaking from his eyes down his cheeks in a mockery of tears.
"Doctor? Are you okay?" Kraid asked.
"I'm fine." The Valeyard whispered as he rubbed away the regeneration energy that spilled from his eyes. "I...I'm fine."
"You are not looking well, Doctor."
"Please...don't call me that." The Valeyard said in a near whimper.
"I'm sorry. I do not know what else to call you. I do not know your name."
"My name is," the Valeyard paused and furrowed his brow "I don't think I know my name, or maybe it's a secret, I don't think I'm supposed to say it...I have a name in my mind, but it doesn't feel like it's mine."
"What happened in there?"
"I...I don't know." The Valeyard shook his head trying to clear it. "Something terrible, or something wonderful...I don't remember."
Kraid watched the Valeyard as he collected himself and looked around as if lost. It wasn't until the Valeyard spotted the small soft white glowing orb that was sitting in a alcove on the wall that had opened up. The Valeyard scrambled to his feet and rushed over to the prize. Cupping the floating orb in his hands the Valeyard stared at it lovingly.
"The Heart of the TARDIS." The Valeyard breathed in awe.
"You got what you wanted?"
"Yes. Now I have all I need."
"I have some more good news," Kraid clicked his mandibles in excitement "the committee has finally agreed on a name for the planet."
"Oh? What is it?"
"Trenzalore."
The Valeyard stared at Kraid in pure shock for a moment before a bright smile broke across his face. He chuckled to himself as he shook his head in disbelief.
"Doctor? Do you not like the name?"
"I love it...it's perfect."
