Reshiram felt utterly powerless under Kyurem's icy gaze, especially when the weight of her conversation with Luke was figured in. As the two dragons faced one another, one trying to think of anything to say in the current situation and the other patiently waiting to respond accordingly, Luke's mind wandered over the possibilities of what Reshiram and Kyurem could possibly be thinking, and his tension mounted with each passing second.

As time seemed to stand still, Reshiram finally acted, hesitantly replacing her gaze with a serious one.

"Kyurem…" she sighed, having finally worked up the nerve to speak. "Kyurem, I have to ask you about what happens next."

"No," the Dragon of Ice replied. "Luke has told you what you must do now."

"What?" Reshiram asked, her voice shaky. "But I don't even… Where do I begin? I know I have these almighty powers and everything, but I don't… I don't really think any of it matters. Please, Kyurem…" She began to cry softly. "Please, Kyurem… I'm begging you… Help me with this."

"No," Kyurem calmly replied. "This is one situation you must deal with on your own."

Reshiram shut her eyes as she tried to figure out Kyurem's refusal to help. A moment later, she opened her eyes and spoke.

"Fine then," she said. "I obviously have my doubts about this, but…" She took a quick look back toward Luke before facing Kyurem again. "What choice do I have? Whether I like it or not, you're right—this is something I have to deal with on my own. A significant portion of the destruction here was my doing, so it's my responsibility to help clean things up here. Besides…this mountain is my home, and the lands that surround it are my domain, so helping those that live here shouldn't even be a question."

Kyurem nodded once Reshiram finished what she had to say, and once he was confident the Dragon of Truth had understood her new task, Kyurem turned and looked out at the horizon in a sort of meditative state.

"Kyurem!" Reshiram exclaimed.

At the call of his name, Kyurem spoke, though he didn't move.

"If you have any other concerns, speak them now. I am listening."

"I'd like my brother to know how sorry I am for what I did…to him. I would give anything to take that back—even more than what I did to the village and the forest."

Kyurem closed his eyes for a moment before approaching Reshiram, and just like before, the two Legendary Pokémon silently stared at one another. This time, however, Kyurem was the first to break the silence.

"Reshiram," the Dragon of Ice calmly began, "you may voice your apology to Zekrom personally; I have full confidence that he will forgive you for your recent actions, no matter how horrifying they may have been."

"What are you talking about, Kyurem?" Reshiram asked. "Not even my brother could forgive me for what I've done, and how can I speak to him…personally, anyway?"

"To answer your first question," Kyurem said as he faced the Dragon of Truth, "I must again tell you that I have full confidence you will be forgiven. As for your second question…" He glanced at Luke for a moment before returning his gaze to Reshiram. "There is still one more thing I must do."

"One more thing?" Reshiram asked.

"I'm also interested," Luke added.

Without a word, Kyurem stepped away from the other two Pokémon and let out a skyward roar; both Luke and Reshiram covered their ears in response. Once the cry had dissipated, Kyurem closed his eyes in meditation and his tail began to glow. As the light grew brighter, Kyurem opened his eyes and faced the other two Pokémon again.

"Reshiram, step back; Luke, come forward," Kyurem commanded.

As Luke and Reshiram moved as requested, the light from Kyurem's tail had morphed into a bright blue light and quickly covered the Dragon of Ice's entire body. Luke and Reshiram had no choice but to shield their eyes from the blinding display.

"What's going on here?" Reshiram asked, her voice a mix of panic and confusion.

Once the Dragon of Truth asked that question, a sense of familiarity hit Luke. As best as possible, he watched as the light continued to dance, giving the illusion that Kyurem had become the light. After a few moments, the light had dissipated, revealing Kyurem in a changed form—a form that Luke recognized—and a glowing ball of lightning-blue colored energy hovering directly in front of him.

"What…j-just happened?" Reshiram asked as she stared in awe at the odd occurrence.

"I thought so…" Luke muttered, a smirk noticeable upon his face.

Kyurem returned his gaze back to Luke, but said nothing as he could sense that Luke was already aware of what had just happened. After another skyward roar from the Dragon of Ice, the ball of energy floated over to Luke.

"You know what this is, Luke," Kyurem said.

Luke nodded.

"Take it."

The younger Pokémon calmly held out his paws as the ball of energy took a familiar form and returned to his possession.

"That was strange," Reshiram noted.

"Yeah," Luke agreed as he stared at the item in his paws, "but at least I've got this back."

"Luke, Reshiram," Kyurem cut in, "you both have a path ahead of you, and there will be many twists and turns along your respective paths. I wish you the best in facing that."

"Thank you, Kyurem," Luke whispered. "Also, thanks so much for helping me get back here, and for helping Reshiram."

"Yes," Reshiram added, "thanks so much."

"I appreciate your kind words," Kyurem replied. "I can sense that you have both learned a great deal from this experience, and I can sense that future experiences will bestow greater knowledge onto you. Maybe we will see each other again, but until then, I wish you the best. Now, as my business is finished here, I must go."

"Take care of yourself, Kyurem," Luke replied as the Pokémon in question turned toward the horizon again.

"I will; thanks. Until then, farewell…friends," Kyurem calmly replied as he took off in a flurry of light.
