"Zoe?" Max asked cautiously a few hours later as she exited their bedroom and made her way to the kitchen to get a drink.

"What Max?" she asked sighing.

"Can we talk now?" he asked timidly, worried that she was angry with him for going off the way he did.

"It depends, have you calmed down yet?"

"Yes"

"Then go ahead" she told him leaning back onto the service top so she could listen to what he had to say.

"I'm really sorry for going off the way I did, it's just that was a lot for me to take in. I mean my sister's pregnant with my best mate's kid and he's leaving her all alone, can you imagine what that feels like?" Max started ranting and pacing up and down the kitchen but stopped when he saw Zoe holding her hand up.

"Well, I'm glad we've got that cleared up" Zoe said grabbing a drink from the fridge then turning to leave the room and head back to their bedroom "I've got paperwork to finish" she stated then left the room.

"What's wrong, Zoe?" Max asked grabbing her wrist before she could make it back to finish her paperwork.

"You have no idea do you?" She scoffed and pulled her wrist from his grasp, finally making it back to their bedroom and sitting on the bed where her paperwork was all laid out.

"No, so are you going to tell me?" he sat on the bed next to her.

"How about I let you figure it out by answering one of the questions you asked in the kitchen?"

"Yeah, okay then" he replied concerned about how he had messed up this time because he couldn't really figure it out, but Zoe looked pretty worked up so it must be something serious.

"Can I imagine what that feels like, being left on my own when I'm pregnant? No, that's my answer because I can't have children Max. To be honest for me being left alone pregnant would be better than never being able to have kids. She's lucky Max and while she may not know that right now, she is. There are so many women that would kill to be in her place and I know what THAT feels like" Zoe expressed until she couldn't say anymore because she was crying so heavily.

"Oh god, I'm so sorry Zoe. I didn't even consider how that might make you feel"

He pulled her into a hug which she fought at first but gave in to when she had lost most of her energy to tears "I'm sorry" her murmured into her hair continuously as he rocked them back and forth trying to calm her down, although it seemed a bit of a lost cause and looked like it would be a very long, sleepless night for both of them.
