Chapter 35
[Day 43 of 45]
Jim couldn't help it. She laughed. She genuinely laughed.
"This isn't funny," Gaila complained looking genuinely hurt by Jim's laughter. Her arms crossed in front of her and she glared at Jim. Jim bit her lip because it wasn't actually funny. Ironic as Hell yes but not funny.
"It's not. It's ironic. I was pregnant with the twins after knowing Spock Three Months," Jim told Gaila. Gaila paused before Chuckling. "At least you've known each other for almost three years. Though, you did move through the relationship phases faster than I pictured you would."
"I'm worried," Gaila told her friend and Jim frowned wondering what she could have to be afraid of.
"Bones is a great father to Joanna and he will love this baby just as much," Jim told her friend who nodded at her.
"That's not what I'm worried about." Gaila gave her a scolding look. Jim held up her hands in surrender and Gaila sighed. "No. I'm actually worrying about the fact I've never had a relationship last longer than eight months. What if I screw it up? What if this baby pushes us apart? What if we get placed on two different ships?"
"What if pigs fly while carrying little bows and arrows," Jim said being a smart ass. Gaila glared. "Trust me, you've been in love with him for three years. Since the day you laid eyes on him you were in love. If you don't believe in that, then why did you wait for him to be ready?" Jim gave her friend a look and the other woman nodded her head in agreement.
"Are you okay with this?" Gaila asked and Jim frowned confused. "Me being pregnant. I know you can't have kids and I don't want this to hurt you." Jim smiled at her friend. Though part of her was jealous, the other was excited for her. Two of her best friends were having a kid together.
"Yeah, you're having Bones' kid. That is so cool," she all but squealed while moving to hug her friend. The red head laughed and Jim knew their little dysfunctional family was growing again.
