A/N Hey guys! So I'm in Florida right now, and I'm using my grandmothers laptop. Its kind of annoying, because there is no way to do spellcheck, so there might be a ton of spelling errors and such. Anyway, I went shopping today, and I got two overall style dresses, I got a lace bikini, a workout tank top that says, 'Look like a Beauty. Train like a Beast.' I love it. And some flip flops. Sorry for boring you, here is chapter 35! Enjoy!
I look back at the crowd of people surrounding Marcus as Tobias pulls me along.
"You are going to regret this!" Marcus shouts.
"If you ever touch Tris again, you are going to regret raising me." he shouts back. Tobias faces forward and ignores the things Marcus keeps yelling. I'm surprised no one is stopping him. Shouting draws attention to yourself, and drawing attention to yourself is self-indulgent. Right before we're out of the sector someone begins to call Tobias's name. We both turn and see an older man chasing after us. He stops and puts his hands on his knees and takes large breaths.
"Please, Sir. I need to talk with you." the man says. Tobias and I walk up to him cautiously. "My name, is Leonard and I witnessed you hitting our leader, Marcus. I-"
"Let me guess," Tobias interrupts. "I'm not allowed back here?"
"No, no." the man smiles. "That's not what I was going to say. I was going to say is, I used to be a doctor here, and I remember you coming in with injuries ranging from, a cut to a broken bone. And believe me, I was against Marcus. I thought it was suspicious when you broke your wrist and your father said you had fallen down the stairs, but that injury was obviously broken on purpose."
"So?" Tobias asks.
"So, I know what your father did to you. And I just wanted to say that you were very brave to stand up to him like that. It was very courageous. I couldn't have done it for sure," the man laughs.
"Oh," Tobias looks a little off guard. "Um, thank you."
"Is that your daughter?" he asks. Tobias is still staring at the man with a little bit of confusion, so I answer.
"Yes, her name is Eleanor." I tell him.
"That's very beautiful. Anyway, I must go help Marcus. I will hopefully see you two later." he turns and almost stalks back to Marcus who holding his face. Tobias and I continue to the train tracks, while Eleanor begins to fall asleep. The train horn blares signaling its arrival.
"How did you jump on with Eleanor?" Tobias asks.
"I don't know," I smile. "I just did." he leans over and presses his lips to my forehead.
"You are one incredible person." he says. I smile a little right as the train soars by. Tobias and I break into a sprint, and jump into the middle car. I release the breath I didn't know I was holding. I slide down the wall, and put a sleeping Eleanor in my lap. Tobias sits next to me and grabs my hand. His fingers are trembling slightly.
"Tobias, are you okay?" I ask him, He sighs and shakes his head.
"I don't know, Tris. I...I'm scared." he admits. I lean into him.
"Why?" I've never seen him so vulnerable.
"Marcus." he says. "He said I'm going to regret what I did and he can do that. He is ruthless and I...I don't want you to get hurt." he looks down at me, and his dark blue eyes are filled with fear.
"I'm not going to get hurt." I tell him. "Marcus can't even come back into Dauntless-"
"That won't stop him." he exclaims. "Nothing will stop him, and you know that."
"Tobias, everything is going to be okay." I sit up a little and kiss his cheek, hoping to somewhat relax him. He lets out a shaky sigh and puts his head in his hands. I don't know what else to say, so I don't say anything. The rest of the ride goes by in silence and soon we're jumping off. Tobias doesn't say much on the way back to the apartment, just holds my hand as tight as he can. Part of me is thankful for his protection, but another part wants to tell him that I can protect myself. I prefer to ignore the latter. Right as we get back, I realize just how late it is, so I put Eleanor down in her crib and join Tobias in our room. He's sitting on the foot of the bed, picking at his nails. When I walk in, he gives me a tight smile.
"Eleanor is asleep in her room." I tell him. He nods and I sit next to him. I wrap my hands around his arm and rest my chin on his shoulder. Neither of us say anything, and within half an hour we're both going to bed.
What awaits Tobias and Tris hmmm? Just read an you'll find out!
At around three in the morning I'm still lying awake. It took forever to convince Tobias he'll be fine to go to sleep. But now that he is, I don't know if I will. If I told Tobias I was scared of whatever Marcus wants to do, he would do anything to help me. Deciding I need some air, I throw my feet over the edge of the bed and being to walk out.
"Tris," Tobias says groggily. "Where're you going?"
"I'm just going to walk around. I'll be back soon." he nods and closes his eyes. I leave the door open just a crack. I also peek into Eleanor's room to check on her. She's asleep on her back with her hands out at her sides. I laugh quietly then leave the apartment. I wander around the compound enjoying it's emptiness. It's not totally silent considering how close I am to the Chasm. I think back to my initiation and when Four showed us the Pit. I smile at the memory. I lean my elbows on the rails, and let out a sigh. A second later I hear someone draw in a breath and I whirl around. I don't see who was following me, because he or she covered my mouth and eyes. It's probably best not to resist.
"Don't scream." the voice says. It sounds vaguely familiar, but the Chasm is to loud to tell who it is. The person, who I know now is man, begins to slowly push my over the rail. My back curvets over it, and I begin to kick my feet forward and they connects with his leg. He drops me, but keeps his hand over my mouth. When my eyes adjust I can now see who it is.
Marcus.
My eyes widen and I try my best to scream. He brings his knee up to my stomach and I gag.
"It would be in your best interest to not try anything, girl." he says in my ear. I kick my leg up and it hits his groin. He moans and releases me. Before he can get another hold, I hit my elbow as hard as I can between his shoulder blades. When he falls, I risk yelling.
"Four!" I scream. I start sprinting back to the apartment. "Four!" his hand grabs my arm, and he yanks me down a hallway. His hand covers my mouth again, and I just pray Tobias heard me. He pulls me down the unfamiliar hallway, and shoves me into a small, empty closet. I scramble around to face me, and he hits me so hard I fall to the ground.
"Please don't hurt me." I beg. Tears begin to spill over, and I know even in the softest parts of him, he doesn't care. "Please, I...I'l do anything, just don't hurt me, or...or Tobias or Eleanor. Please." he looks at me with a look of malice and fear prickles in my chest.
"I told Tobias he would regret what he did, and he just didn't listen. It's a shame really, you were," he pauses. "Decent. But no where near all of the other girls. I honestly don't see what he saw in you. You're small, plain, and overall just boring. I bet he's going to miss that. But he'll get over it soon enough, you're not the most memorable person." I remember Tobias telling me Marcus knows where to hit a person where it does the most damage. He couldn't be more right.
"He was right about you." I manage. Marcus furrows his eyebrows. "You're just a lying, deceitful, horrid man." as soon as I finish that sentence, I regret it. He kicks me hard in my stomach and I suppress a scream.
"Tris!" I faintly hear Tobias. I shoot up and start banging on the door. Marcus throws me against the wall, and m head beings to throb.
"Tobias," I try to yell, but it only comes out as a whisper. Soon, everything goes black.
A/N I loved this chapter. I really, really did. If you didn't I'm sorry, but I'm going to keep this idea. The only reason I did it, was because some people said they wanted more drama and this was the best I got. And it totally fit with what was happening. So yeah. Anyway, time for the QOTC! What's your favorite app? Mine are, Instagram, Pinterest, IFunny, Fanfiction and I think that's it. Wbu?
