- Elizabeth -
She had come to Bonnie's house earlier that morning, but alas didn't get to meet her grandmother and she went to bed. Elizabeth woke up to Jim's faint snoring and she smiled, kissing him on the nose before leaving the bed quietly. She woke up before the sun had even risen and put on a coat before leaving the bedroom, and going out into the beautiful garden, sitting on a wooden bench.
The house was absolutely breathtaking, since it was situated right next to a lake with a forest beyond. Elizabeth sat there and closed her eyes, enjoying the gentle breeze as it rushed past her cheeks.
She heard footsteps on the fresh, green grass and turned to see a woman walking towards her. This lady wasn't exactly old, but even the moonlight couldn't hide the wrinkles on her face. Her brown hair was neatly put up in a bun and she wore a deep red robe as she took a seat next to Elizabeth.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" The lady with a warm voice spoke, eyes cast onto the calm waters. "Y…Yeah." Elizabeth smiled. "Your grandfather bought this house for me. We used to go kayak in the lake all the time." Bonnie started to recall, and closed her eyes, as if she could still see the image play out vividly in her head. She opened them again after a while.
"It's been a long time, Elizabeth." Bonnie turned to face her. "I'm sorry, but I don't remember ever meeting you." Elizabeth replied sympathetically.
"It's all right. You were only a baby the last time I saw you." Elizabeth smiled sadly. "You look…just like your mother." Elizabeth's grin turned upside down and she could feel the tears well up in her eyes. "No. You are even more beautiful than she was." Bonnie said after some thought, placing a hand on Elizabeth's cheek.
The memories of her mother started to come back to her and she started to cry. Bonnie leaned forward and pulled her granddaughter close. Elizabeth rested her head on the older woman's shoulder and started to cry without restraint.
- Jim -
Jim woke up and ran his hand through the space beside him, finding it empty. He sat up and stretched, leaving the bed to go look for Elizabeth.
He sleepily trudged down the stairs and could the smell the sweet aroma of butter coming from the kitchen. He peered into the room and smiled when he saw Elizabeth there with Bonnie. Elizabeth's hair was pulled back into a ponytail and she was currently whisking something in a bowl, listening to Bonnie's instructions.
Jim came up from behind her and blew on the area behind her ear. Elizabeth screamed and dropped the bowl but thankfully, Jim managed to catch it, arms looping around her in the process.
"You scared me!" She turned and hit him playfully on the shoulder. "Sorry. Good morning honey." He grinned widely as he gave her a short peck on the lips. "Mmm… You haven't brushed your teeth, have you?" She almost chided. "Oops. I'll go do that right now." He chuckled cheekily and went off, passing the bowl back to her.
Elizabeth giggled to herself and continued to whisk. Seeing the exchange in front of her made Bonnie feel warm. She remembered Georg and her were once as sweet as that. When Elizabeth looked up and saw her grandmother looking warmly at her she smiled and asked why.
"Nothing." Bonnie replied knowingly.
- At the Barbour Manor, last night -
Diana, Georg and Jasper were in the sitting room, all in robes. Diana and Georg were seated opposite each other while Jasper paced the room, obviously fuming mad.
"How could this have happened? What is- this is preposterous!" Jasper said, flabbergasted. "Calm down, Jasper." Diana rubbed her nose bridge, annoyed.
Georg stopped listening to all their chatter and thought back to the wedding. When the guests had been ushered into the house, he retreated back into his study, seeing as he had a good vantage point from the big window there.
He looked down and saw a very distraught Elizabeth and his heart broke. He only wished that she would be happy. To be honest, he was glad that Elizabeth had left when she did because he knew full well she would never live in bliss with Jasper.
- Elizabeth -
Elizabeth served the apple sauce cake she and Bonnie had been working on for the better part of the morning. She was ecstatic when they all said that it tasted wonderful, given that it was her first time in the kitchen.
Charles was about to compliment her baking when there was a shrill ring, coming from the door. Elizabeth got up and opened the door. Her eyes widened when she saw who was on the other side.
"Jude? Gayle?"
