No Rest For The Wicked

Chapter 36

Allana woke up the next morning, and looked into the crib, her heart dropping to her feet when she noticed her twins and Lily were missing. She panicked for a second, before she turned and saw Daryl was gone too.

At that minute, Daryl came in the door, with one of the twins in each arm, and Lily crawling by his feet. Allana let out a breath in relief. "I thought my babies were gone," she said quickly.

"Relax, sweetheart," Daryl said softly, sitting down beside her on the bed. "I thought you could do with the rest, so I got up early to watch them. Lily was chattering to herself too so I didn't want her to wake you."

Allana smiled. "It's fine I get it and thank you." She said picking up Harli while Daryl held Dean.

"They have your hair." She said lovingly as she kissed their foreheads.

"Harli has your eyes," Daryl said softly. "I can't believe I have the most perfect wife and three beautiful children."

"I can't believe I have a perfect husband and three beautiful children either, Daryl." She said smiling as she kissed him lovingly as there was a knock on the door.

"Stay there, I'll get it," Daryl said as he kissed her softly, before getting up to answer the door.

He opened it to see Rowan, Sasha and Martinez at the door. "Can we see Allana and the kids." Rowan asked softly and Daryl nodded and let them in.

"Hey, sweetie," Rowan smiled going over to the bed, and sitting down beside Allana. "They are beautiful," she said, looking down at the twins.

Allana smiled at her best friend. "Would you like to hold Harli?" She asked gently and Rowan nodded and gently took Harli in her arms.

"Hey, honey," Rowan smiled down at her, seeing Allana's emerald eyes. "You're gorgeous, aren't you?" Rowan grinned up at Allana. "How are you feeling this morning, sweetie?"

"Tired and a bit sore but I'm ok. I'm so happy Rowan." Allana said as Daryl sat down next to her holding Dean in his arms as he cooed at Sasha.

"Hey little man." She warmly as he took her middle finger in his small, tiny hand.

Allana smiled warmly at Sasha. "Can't be long now til your little one is here. Are you excited?"

Sasha nodded. "Very. Even more after seeing the twins."

She smiled as Harli fussed and after Rowan rocked her in her arms, Harli went to sleep. "It's an incredible feeling being a mother." She assured Sasha and smiled at Martinez as Dan knocked on the door.

"Hey, how are you feeling?" Dan asked as he came in the door.

"I'm alright thank you," Allana nodded. "I don't know how to thank you, Hershel and everyone else for what you did for me."

Dan smiled gently at her. "It's not a problem and let's check to see you and the little ones are ok." He said softly checking Dean.

"He looks healthy enough," Dan smiled. "I'll try not to wake Harli."

Daryl and Allana watched him check over Harli and he smiled. "She seems healthy too." He assured them as he gently placed Harli in her arms.

"Mind if I check you over too?" Dan asked.

Rowan, Sasha and Martinez left the room to give them some privacy.

Allana let him check her stomach and he seemed pleased that they were all in good health.

"You all seem healthy which is good, just take it easy and get some rest." He told her softly.

Allana nodded, as Dan left them in peace. "Im'ma go get ya some breakfast," Daryl said, getting up. "I don't want ya to leave this room today."

Allana laughed. "Yes sir." She said as she cuddled Lily who smiled down at her baby brother and sister.

"That's your baby brother and sister, Lily," Allana smiled. "Harli and Dean."

"Arli! Dee!"

Allana laughed. "Yes sweetie." She said lovingly as Daryl came back in with a tray.

He set it down in front of her, and she seen it had pancakes, a glass of juice and even a little flower. She smiled up at him. "Someone's gone all out."

"I wanna pamper ya today," Daryl said softly, as he kissed her on the cheek. "Ya deserve it."

She smiled up at him lovingly as he placed the tray on her lap and she began to eat with Daryl stroking her hair gently as Dean and Harli cooed at them with Lily cuddling them both.

"I think Lily loves her new little brother and sister," Allana smiled.

"She does," Daryl said softly, as he began to rub her tense shoulders.

She relaxed and smiled at him as she continued to eat her breakfast as their children began to get tired.

"I'll put them down for a nap," Daryl smiled, putting the twins and Lily into their cribs, before he climbed back in next to Allana. He turned over and kissed her deeply. "Yer so perfect."

She kissed him back. "You're perfect too Daryl and I love you." She said softly curling into him.

"I love ya too. Y'know, if my old man could see me right now, he probably wouldn't believe his eyes," Daryl said as he softly rubbed her stomach.

Allana snorted. "I think my mother would be in denial at the fact that I married someone like you." She said softly.

"She's not here," he said softly, as he buried his face into her neck, and kissed the skin gently. "It's just our family now."

"I know and I'm happy Daryl." She said softly as she fell asleep in his arms.

"I love ya, Allana," he whispered as she slept.

Rick and Rowan were in the sitting room with the others as they all talked about their new family members.

"I'm so happy for Daryl and Allana." Carol said warmly.

"They deserve it," Rowan nodded.

"I'm glad the twins were OK," Dan smiled. "After all the stress Allana's had, I was worried there would be complications."

"Well I'm glad there wasn't." Hershel said as he watched Carly play with Ghost while Lucky and Connie played with his tail.

"She loves animals." He told Dan who was watching Carly.

Hershel nodded. "She wanted to be a vet. She's become my assistant," he smiled.

Dan chuckled quietly. "They're good kids."

"They are indeed; they've been through a lot." Rick said and saw the confused looks James and the others sent them.

Elle came running to Rick, "Daddy Rick, Sarah's calling a walker mommy."

"Oh no," Rick muttered, getting up and running outside. He saw Sarah standing in tears, looking at a walker.

"Mommy, no." She whimpered staring at the zombified version of her mother.

Her mother snarled at her as she stepped closer and without thinking about it, Sarah ran to her only to have Maggie pull her back.

"NO, MY MOMMY, NO DON'T KILL MY MOMMY!" Sarah screamed hysterically as she crumpled into Maggie.

"Honey, that's not your mommy anymore," Maggie said softly as she stroked her hair.

"But it is," Sarah sniffled.

"Take her inside," Rick instructed softly.

Maggie nodded sadly and took a crying Sarah inside as Rick looked at Sarah's undead mother and with a sigh shot her in the head.

He looked at her sadly before going back inside to check on Sarah.

When Rick went back into the sitting room, Sarah was in tears in the couch.

Daryl came downstairs. "I heard a gunshot... what's going on?"

"Sarah found a walker in the garden, it was her mother and Rick had to put her down." Hershel said as Sarah ran to Rick.

"I'm sorry Daddy Rick." She said tearfully.

"Its OK, sweetheart," Rick said as he pulled her into a hug. "I know it's hard."

"At least I have my other mommys," she sniffled quietly.

"That you do sweetheart." He said softly as she looked up at him.

"Can we bury her?" She asked shakily.

"No problem," Rick nodded sadly.

"I'll go wake Allana," Daryl said quietly.

Daryl went back upstairs to wake up Allana and found that she was already awake and was looking at him with worry.

"What's wrong Daryl?" She asked concerned.

"Sarah found her mom outside as a walker. We're going to have a funeral service for her."

Allana sighed. "Poor Sarah." She whispered as she pulled on a blue summer dress and her black cowboy boots as she put Harli in a sling that went across her right shoulder while Daryl held Dean and Lily when their little girl started to walk as they went downstairs.

"Daryl... Look at her!" Allana exclaimed happily, as Lily took a few steps before wobbling and starting again.

Daryl watched amazed as Lily started to walk into the living room giggling at them all as she walked to Sarah.

"Sara." She said to her softly and Sarah picked up the baby girl lovingly.

"Hey, Lily," Sarah said softly.

"Are you alright, honey?" Allana asked Sarah.

Sarah nodded. "That wasn't my mommy, was it?" She asked numbly as she stared at them all.

Allana looked at her, unable to describe it properly. "No, that wasn't your mommy honey. Your mommy is up in heaven right now, looking down on you and watching over you."

Sarah nodded as they all headed outside to bury her mother, Morgan and Glenn had dug a grave for her mother and a cross.

"Good bye mommy, I'm ok and I love you." She said softly as they lowered the body into the grave.

"Why don't we go in and bake a cake?" Carol asked softly, hoping to cheer up Sarah, as Morgan and Glenn began to fill in the grave.

Sarah nodded at her and took Carol's hand as they all went back into the kitchen with Allana feeding Dean as he was hungry again.

"Someone's a greedy boy." She said as Dean suckled her left nipple.

"He's gonna grow up big and tough like his daddy," Rowan smiled at her.

Allana chucked. "Dean and Callum will be the new Daryl and Merle."

Rowan laughed. "They'll cause mayhem." She said as Callum kissed Judith and looked Rowan. "Mama, dada." He cooed.

"He's talking!" Rowan looked shocked as Callum giggled at her.

"Welcome to our world," Allana smiled. "Lily has been chattering to herself since she learned how to."

Rick and Daryl came in then and watched as Callum pointed at them. "Dada, Uncle Dare." He cooed at them as Judith gave him a sloppy kiss.

"OI!" Rick said then saw Connor kissing Lily who giggled.

"Uh, Daryl your daughter is flirting."

"Hell, no, she ain't," Daryl said amused, scooping down to pick her up. "Lily Dixon, none of that 'til yer at least eighteen. Yer either, Connor."

Allana laughed at them amused. "Just wait until they all reach their terrible twos."

Daryl went red in the face while Rick went pale as Ethan stroked Duke when Judith kissed Callum and cooed as Carl came in with the other puppies looking exhausted.

"Hey son," Rick smiled at him. "Looks like you've tired those puppies out pretty good."

Carl nodded. "I'm tired too." He said then saw Lily and Judith cooing over the puppies when Patch came over with Lucky behind him.

"I thought cats and dogs didn't like each other?" He asked confused when Carly came in.

"Sometimes they make friends," Rick smiled down at him.

"Hey, Carly," Allana said softly. "Everything alright?"

"I just wanted to see if Sarah's ok." She said quietly and hugged Sarah tightly "Its ok Sarah." She comforted the nine year old girl gently.

Dan felt tears burn his eyes. "I'm glad these kids have you lot as parents." He told Rick sincerely.

Painful howls could be heard then and Carly ran out to the garden and started screaming in horror.

"LEAVE MY DOG ALONE!" She screamed running over to the dog attacking Patch, biting at him. Carly threw a branch at the dog only for the dog to charge at her and bite at her body.

"MOMMY!" Carly screeched.

Allana broke out into a run to get to her. "Daryl, get Dan!"

Daryl ran to get Dan while Patch growled at the strange dog as Allana picked up Carly with Patch following her inside.

"It hurts mommy." Carly said in pain.

Allana kissed the top of her head. "It'll be OK, sweetheart, Dan will come and clean it and fix you up, alright? Can you be brave for mommy?"

Carly nodded. "Yes."

"Alright, good girl," Allana smiled, rolling her trouser leg up to inspect the bite.

The bite was on her left calf with dog teeth marks grooving the skin, causing it to bleed rather badly.

"You're going to need stitches sweetie." She said softly as Daryl and Dan came in.

"Are they going to hurt, mommy?" Carly asked scared.

"It might sting a little, sweetie," Allana said softly.

Dan gave her a small smile. "Let's take a look at you, Carly."

Dan examined her and was relived to see that it was only minor stitches needed for the wound, "Carly, I'm going to give you rabies shot in case that dog carried it ok?" He asked gently.

"Ok." She said holding Allana's hand tightly.

Allana felt her squeeze her hand as the needle went in. "It's OK, Carly, be brave," Allana soothed.

"Ya can have a piece of cake after this," Daryl said softly.

Carly smiled as Dan injected her with the jab and then pulled it out and started bathing her cut, once that was done he did some light stitches as Patch ran over sniffing at Carly.

"My hero." She said happily hugging the small dog.

"Extra treats for you tonight, Patch," Allana smiled.

Carly nodded. "Thank you Dan,"

Dan grinned at her. "It's not a problem, sweetheart."

She smiled as she dozed off with them going into the kitchen with Patch staying with Carly.

"Is Carly ok?" Billy asked Daryl as they all sat down to eat dinner which consisted of deer and some peas with chocolate cake for dessert.

"She'll be fine," Allana smiled. "It just needed some small stitches."

"Did you catch this deer, daddy?" Elle asked.

Daryl nodded. "I sure did."

Ethan looked up at Daryl. "Do you think you could teach me how to hunt sometime?"

Daryl grinned at him. "Sure can, kiddo." He said as they tucked in with Carly sitting down at the table with them as she tucked in happily.

"I wonder where that dog came from." Maggie said as she passed the bowl of peas to Rowan with a word of thanks.

"I don't know," Rick said quietly. "We can check it out in the morning; make sure there's no one else around here that could be of any trouble to us.

Rowan nodded. "That sounds like a good idea. We don't want any more incidents."

James nodded. "We're going back to our base tomorrow." He told Rick quietly.

Rick looked at him and his men carefully, thinking of how they had helped them.

"We're so thankful for everything that you've done for us," Rick smiled. "You're welcome to stay longer."

James shook his head. "We need to get back. But you can come visit us whenever you like. I thought Dan could stay with you's a little longer, at least until Sasha gives birth."

"We'd be very grateful," Rick nodded.

Carly ran to Dan and hugged him. "I'll miss you." She said softly.

Dan hugged her back, feeling a lump in his throat.

"I'll miss you too," he said quietly. "I've never had a welcome to a group like this before."

Carly hugged him tighter as Allana came over with Daryl. "Thank you for saving my life and my children's lives as well, Dan." She said gratitude in her voice as she hugged him and Daryl went to speak to him.

"I owe ya, man," Daryl nodded at him in thanks. "It would have been hard if ya hadn't been here."

Dan shook his head. "It's nothing. You've got a great family here, Daryl. Take care of them."

He nodded and sat down as they finished eating their dinner and all helped clean up as Maggie and Allana tucked the children in.

"I thought we could have a little get together for the adults," Rick smiled as they all came back downstairs. "To say goodbye to James and his men. There's still some wine left, and Martinez found more music."

They all nodded and Martinez put some music on as the couples began to dance with each other to the music.

Daryl pulled Allana into him as they danced to the beat.

"I love ya," he whispered softly, winding a hand into her hair.

"I love you too," she smiled up at him, as she wrapped her arms around his waist.

She rested her head against his chest as they danced, savouring this moment.

Maggie passed around the wine, and Allana drunk hers, now that she was no longer pregnant. She felt the buzz kick in almost instantly, as she had been away from it for so long, and smiled to herself.

She kissed Daryl hard on the lips taking him by surprise but he happily responded and she pressed herself into him further, feeling his hardness.

"Hey, baby," she said softly, running a hand down his arm. "Wanna head upstairs?"

Daryl smirked at her. "Hell yes." He said and after saying farewell to the others they headed upstairs.
