They spent the next hour talking about the possibilities of the future until they were summoned back to reconvene the meeting. Gain stepped up to the front with Magnus, and Alec close by.
"It's time. Magnus has managed to locate him to New York. To a warehouse. We will portal to the New York Institute, where there will be weapons for those who need them, and we will go on foot from there so that we can. Surround the building whilst others will portal from the Institute straight into the Institute. Magnus will open the portal. I want everyone through in 5mins. We need to leave as soon as possible for the warehouse."
Within 10 mins the library of the New York Institute was filled with shadowhunters gearing up for battle. Clary helped by marking people with runes seeming as she wouldn't be going. Her, Lucinda, Maryse and Jocelyn would be staying at the Institute whilst the others went to fight.
Once she was done marking people she found Jace who was stood next to the portal cleaning a blade . "Hey mind if I mark you with my new rune, so that we can see whats going on back here."
Jace stretched out his arm. "I'm all yours!" Once she had finished she traced the partner room onto the table in the middle of the room and sure enough it opened up into a screen showing Jaces view of the room.
She took Jaces hand and led him back to the group. They walked past the first group of shadowhunters who we're heading out. They were the ones who would surround the building.
"So where is this warehouse?" Isabelle asked Magnus.
"Bakers Avenue."
"But that's only a block away!" Exclaimed Simon.
"Convenient," muttered Alec.
Isabelle looked at Clary. "Now you, for once, try and stay out of trouble alright."
Clary gave a laugh. She felt too hot and had to fan herself with her hand.
"Hey, you okay?" Isabelle gave her a worried look.
Before she could reply she gave a piercing scream that split through the room. The pain inside her head was excruciating. And there he was. Again. Sebastian.
"Miss me?" He snickered. "Maggie!" He called. "We've got company, get the child. Clary, how are you? As always, I've missed you!"
She tried to speak but only a whimper came out.
"I understand," replied Sebastian. "You're a little busy on your end well I have things to be doing to do so I better be going. Perhaps we can have a catch up later." He gave as sinister smile and then he was gone. Along with the pain.
She blinked and she realised that she was on the floor of the Institute with everyone crowded around her.
"Clary, are you okay?" Asked Jace who had his arm around her.
"I'm fine," she rolled up her sleeve and saw that the rune that was meant to be blocking Sebastian from her head was gone.
"Shit!" She looked up at Gia. "You have to go now. He knows your coming go!"
Gia started to shout orders and the room broke out into chaos.
Everyone dashed through the portal.
Jace helped Clary to stand.
He placed her face into his hand and leaned his forehead against hers.
"Are you sure you're okay?" He asked.
"Yes I'm fine but you need to go now."
"I love you," he said.
"I love you too", she replied. They kissed and then he was gone. Through the portal.
Clary broke out into a son and her mum ran to her and held her in her arms. She hadn't even gotten to say goodbye to everyone.
"Sshh," Jocelyn soothed her. "It's okay. They're all coming back."
Clary gave a solemn nod and made her way to the table where Maryse was stood.
She looked up at them. "You should see this.
Clary and Jocelyn walked hand in hand to the table where they had a view of the action - from Jaces point of view.
He appeared to be in a big room which had partly crumbled in one corner. Water dropped from the ceiling and the walls were covered in lime. Demons filled the room as the large group of shadowhunters advanced - among them her friends and Luke.
Jace pulled out a seraph blade to accompany his blade and shouted the name. Clary couldn't make it out. It was too loud - the sounds of fighting drowning out anything else.
Clarys muscled tense as she watched Jace take on a Raum demon. Around him others were fighting more off. Alec stood with his bow - close to Magnus who was firing flames at the demons. A whip flashed by in the corner and Clary assumed it was Isabelle.
Jace continued to fight the demon and managed to kill it by striking a blow to its chest with the seraph blade before plunging it straight in.
From somewhere behind Jace someone shouted, "go, go, head upstairs. He should be on the last floor. Elevators are down. We've got the rest of the them."
And with that Jace was running along with several others.
"What's happening?" Clary jumped at the noise that came from behind her shoulder. It was Lucinda.
"We've found them. Shadowhunters are at the scene trying to retrieve them now." Answered Maryse.
For a second Lucinda looked upbeat but that quickly faded.
"What will happen to Maggie now?" Asked Lucinda.
"If she co-operates, hands herself in then perhaps she will be in less trouble but I cannot say what will happen for sure."
"Lucinda let me help you. You should probably sit down." Jocelyn helped her to the chair that was seated next to the still open portal. Where she sat quietly.
Clary turned back to the table. The battle had progressed considerably since she had last seen it.
They were in a new room now. One with a glass room. There was a small slightly raised platform at one end of the room. Clary shuddered as she saw that stood on it was Sebastian giving a gleeful smile, probably revealing in the chaos he caused. Next to him there was a grand cot. Beth. And on the other side was Maggie who was chanting and had her eyes rolled back.
Around them shadowhunters, vampires and werewolves were fighting against demons. She saw Raphael ripping his teeth into a demon and spitting out the ichor onto the floor in disgust.
Clary could see that people were trying to get close to the stage but they were being pushed back, almost by an invisible barrier. Maggie. She must have been performing a spell. Magnus stood to the side his hand raised towards where they stood but his expression showed that he wasn't having any luck trying to break the spell. Alec stood with him covering him with his bow. On the other side of the room Isabelle was fighting with Alana.
It was only now Clary realised Jace was fighting with Zac.
"Come on Herondale. I thought you were meant to be better than this."
"Don't worry. No matter how hard I am on you, you won't leave without paying for what you did to Clary."
"Ha! More like what you did? Did you mean to get her knocked up? Shame too she was very pretty."
Jace gave an almost growl and lunged for him. Zack anticipated it but he didn't anticipate Jace sliding down and stabbing him in the thigh with his knife. Whilst he was distracted by the pain Jace punched him and he collapsed into an unconscious heap. Jace headed for where Sebastian was but it was no use he couldn't get through. More demons poured into the room.
"It's not going to work," said Clary. "We have to do something. Nothing is going to work."
Maryse replied. "Wait here in going to phone the Clave. We need more back up. Jocelyn come with me. We will need to gather more weapons."
Jocelyn gave Clary a hug and left with Maryse.
"You have to let me go to her." Clary turned towards Lucinda who was looking at her.
"Please she can't get in any more trouble. Maybe I can convince her to stop. Please you said it yourself no one can stop her. Nobody can do anything."
Clary looked at the old woman. Then at the stash of weapons piled near the portal. She grabbed a seraph blade and shoved a blade into her pocket along with her stele. She passed Lucinda a blade to.
"Quick take this. We need to go now."
Lucinda nodded, took the blade and stepped through the portal.
"By the angel, please say this works." Clary muttered then she stepped through into the heart of the battle.
