guy with a tophat edited this chapter. It may sound corny in some sentences and you may be confused or hate me after seeing what character I added into the story but I followed guy with a tophat's suggestion. It was originally suppose to be a battle between Patrick and him but I thought it would be better if I made it a simple strange chapter.

Patrick was sad once again to leave Lily at Leorna's after winning another Gym Battle, but she was going to train Lily for the next gym. He was now walking through the Desert Resort. It had a very funny name. It didn't have a resort. There wasn't a hotel anywhere or hot springs. All Patrick saw was construction workers and lots of weird Pokémon.

Patrick was told before taking on Burgh to capture a Darumaka. He remembered it as a funny memory. Just when he says he's going to capture a Darumaka a Houndour shows up and attacks a town. Who was expecting that? Darumaka were small ball runt Pokémon with yellow eyebrows on their red bodies and mischievous teeth; clowns some might call them especially when you see them hoping around in pairs. There were also Scraggy, fighting type Pokémon like Mienfoo. Scraggy are yellow lizard Pokémon with the red lizard scale on its head. It's skin looked like it had a pouch to store eggs.

Speaking of eggs, Patrick's egg was beginning to feel all thumpy inside his backpack. This happened occasionally. Patrick wondered what that meant so he asked Nurse Joy. She said this was the second period of the egg. Feeling it beat on occasion was a sign it was close but still needed some time to hatch. When it beats every second it was a sign the Pokemon inside was about to hatch. Patrick couldn't wait to see what Pokemon was inside. It was killing him having to wait. He already went through three gym leaders and it still didn't hatch.

" Klink, let's battle!"

It sounded like two trainer's were having a battle. In Patrick's memory a Pokemon battle was louder and filled with more joy between both trainers. Patrick only heard one trainer making sounds; sounds of frustration and stress and not the magical sound of fighting a trainer. Patrick saw two things; Pokemon and a human boy. Patrick saw a young trainer, one who recently got his Pokemon license, wearing a yellow cap with a red shirt. On the back was the smiling face of a Darumaka. Ironically the trainer was facing a Darumaka. To battle the Darumaka he had two wheels rotating together. He was looking at the back and wondered what kind of Pokémon this was. Out of all the Pokemon he met his was the strangest one of all. Patrick pulled out the square metal Pokemon encyclopedia that was a Pokédex and scanned the trainer's two gear Pokémon. The screen showed the gear's faces. They had clown-like green noses, small white X's on their face, and single eyes each with black irises. According to the Pokedex they were called Klink.

Pokédex: Klink. The Gear Pokémon. Most people believe that the two gears rotating together are Klink's brain, but when two Klink's are young they work together to help battle other Pokémon in the wild. Klink is an electric and steel type so keep it away from fire type Pokemon.

" Klink, Thunder Shock!"

Klink overflowed with electricity and fired it towards Darumaka. Darumaka danced over the yellow streaks of electricity. Klink fired electricity again at Darumaka. Not a fast Pokémon Darumaka dodged rolling out of the way. Floating in the air, Klink's gear spun around and glared intensely at Darumaka. Darumaka took a deep breath and shoot tiny balls of ember from Ember at Klink. Klink tried to dodge, but it was too late. Klink's body was bruised by Darumaka's attack.

" Klink, use Vicegrip!"

Klink bend his two gears together like a claw and rushed towards Darumaka's head. Darumaka made fun of Klink's attack as he shoot one ember flame in Klink's face. Klink stopped and turn their heads both ways to see how they would look with burned faces. Seeing how they both had burned faces they laughed.

The boy was nervous and Patrick knew why. A wild Pokémon only let's you battle once. If your Pokémon loses it will leave. Losing against a Pokémon you tried to capture is not fun. When Patrick thought the boy was going to give up he saw some blond-haired man, a scientist maybe, with a white lab coat, glasses, a blue metal cage over his body and blue headgear. He was holding a TM. Patrick thought he was going to give the TM to trainer. It was Klink who got the TM.

" This will help you," he said both Klink's looking at him. They trusted this stranger. In effect he let the man give him the TM. Klink fired an electric orb towards Darumaka. It looked like Electro Ball but it was too slow. It was barely moving towards Darumaka. Darumaka could easily dodge it. The electric orb was like nuts in a fruit cake, sparkling in his eyes then exploded like a damaged fuse box. Darumaka tried moving his body but couldn't. He was turning yellow. Paralysis. Darumaka had it and was out of luck against the trainer now.

" Klink, Thunder Shock!"

Klink charged with electricity before he shocked Darumaka. Darumaka screamed something painful out his lungs but they could only hear him screaming his name. The man pulled a radio looking device from his pocket and pressed a button. Frequency was heard of Darumaka and then another sound that sounded like a screaming child.

" Stop this!"

" That's enough, Ethan," the man said listening to the noise in the radio. " He's had enough."

Klink stopped before his trainer told him. This man seemed to have Klink's attention more than his trainer. He could even be Klink's former trainer. The trainer pulled out a small gumball of a PokéBall. It spawn growing to it's normal size and the trainer threw it at the Darumaka. Patrick counted the number of flashing lights: The first beep the trainer didn't respond, the second beep the trainer clenched his hands nervously, and on the third and final beep the PokéBall flashed with sparkles like it was New Year's.

" I caught him," the boy said fetching his PokéBall and raising it high in the air. " I caught Darumaka." The trainer's Klink danced at his trainer's capture. The scientist applauded the trainer's victory by clapping. The boy turned around and Patrick was scared of his face.

His face was scary. It wasn't ugliness that scared him. It was the ugliness of how his face looked like it would peel off. Crusted, pus, it wasn't just his chin that was covered in this grotesque dry skin. It was his cheeks, his necks, and his teeth. Patrick flinched when he sees him. The trainer surprised him. It was the first time anyone looked like this. Patrick was okay with the way he looked. He wasn't pretty as a Lillipup himself. Anyone with the IQ of a fly wouldn't be afraid of someone just because he looked different.

" I was never fond of trainer's who stand still and watch other people's battles without saying anything," the man said rubbing the trainer's head. " Why do you linger over there? Don't you want to congratulate this boy? Maybe properly learn his name."

" My name is Patrick Strong," he said. " I'm bad luck to be around. If I get too close you're only going to have a bad day."

" Come here, please." Patrick for a moment rubbed his hands together and sighed. He looked like a girl when he turned away.

" No, I can't go over there. You're a stranger."

" Nice introduction. The impertinence of young people I would say. Now are you going to stand there and twiddle or are you going to get over here?" Patrick took five steps towards the two of them and stopped. He walked again until he was in front of them. " You're not very trusting of people. Not trusting at all. Keep your mind off the strangers and look at us as friends, Patrick Strong."

" Who are you?"

"You may call me Mr. C. But my real name is Colress. And I cannot ask you to leave until you've seen something that offers you wisdom. You may find it redundant, but the affection of Pokémon will help. I calculate you may find a friend somewhere in this desert."
