Don't own Bleach. I'm not sure how chapters this battle has gone on for now or will continue to go on for, all I know is that there is still a lot more to this story afterwards. I hope you guys are enjoying it. Let me know in the reviews what you think of it. Have I missed out some things you wanted to see or maybe you could just tell me if I can do anything to improve the story. Either way let me know.
She pushed herself hard to get across in time. The power surging through her, was forced to its limits as she sprinted through the Seireitei. Rangiku arrived at the 13th District and saw the thinning bars of fire surrounding it. The Reiatsu behind it was familiar, when she looked beyond the flames, Rangiku saw an overgrown Giant, larger than the others and herself.
Taking a few step backs, Rangiku prepared herself for the flames. She took off into a sprint and jumped through the fire. The feeling of the flames as they kissed her skin was intense. She picked up her pace once she landed and made a bee line to the largest Giant.
It was raising its hand when Rangiku drew closer. She spotted Daichi stood in front of it just like he had done for her. Blindly, Rangiku charged in. The hand came crashing down toward Daichi. She leaped to his defence and grabbed the Giant's wrist.
The strength from the blow caused Rangiku to crack through the floor as she put up a fight. She pushed back as best she could, trying to stop its fist from hitting Daichi. She glanced down toward him, hoping that he'd forgive her for transforming. Transforming into a Giant in front of everyone would have serious ramifications and in her. Even in her current state she knew that. Rangiku caught his eye, his bright amber eyes they seemed shocked. Whether it was shock to seeing her or shock at being alive, she didn't know. But she was grateful that she could save him.
Rangiku swiped the Dark-Skinned Giant's leg and threw him over her shoulder. It was like bringing down a mountain, a very large mountain. The weight on her shoulder as she threw him off was more than she ever thought possible. It was as if the Giant was made out of cast iron. She watched with a feeling of satisfaction as the Giant landed on the floor.
Turning back to Daichi, Rangiku looked at him with her dull blue eyes and pointed behind him to the other Giants still fighting in the District. She saw the conflict in his eyes and urged him on pointing to the other Giants again. Before she could turn around, the Dark-Skinned Giant grabbed her by the neck and dragged her away. She flailed her arms and legs trying to break free. Rangiku reached up to wrench its arm from her throat. Her grip tightened around her attacker's arm. Rangiku managed to get an inch of breathing room and turned out its grip.
Looking up at the Giant, Rangiku smirked and charged it. It was as if she was on autopilot. A clubbed fist came hurtling toward her, Rangiku grabbed his wrist and blocked the other hand as it came from the side. They struggled. The Dark-Skinned Giant had the leverage given from his immense height. It went back and forth, their muscles rippling with the struggle.
To spectators, it would look odd to see two Giants doing battle but, to Daichi who knew that Rangiku was inside the Giant made the battle a lot scarier than others would think. The idea that Rangiku was fighting head to head with a Giant that towered over her gave Daichi an uneasy feeling.
Rangiku took a swift kick to the stomach and doubled over, recoiling. She staggered back to catch her breath but, relentlessly, the Dark-Skinned Giant followed up his attack with strong punches to her face sending Rangiku falling backward crushing the buildings below.
Watching on, Daichi saw the onslaught that Rangiku had suffered and Kaien's voice inside his head urged him to attack. Come on, Daichi. You know what you have to do, you fight for your honour, you fight for your Squad. You don't give up. The motivating speech Kaien had given him when he joined the Squad. Daichi shunpoed around the Giant, and slashed at the back of its neck. He was met with the same crystallization technique that foiled his earlier plan. The shimmering shell that formed around the Giant's weak spot, the moonlight reflecting of the edges and corners of it made it look almost gorgeous.
Charging back in, Daichi tried to get through the hardened exterior. The heat from his Zanpakuto was increasing, the darkened blade's temperature was searing. Daichi placed the blade on the crystallized surface seeing if he could melt his way through. No such luck, thick, dark fingers clawed at him to get away. He shunpoed away, dodging the long, meaty fingers.
There was a lull in any kind of movement before Rangiku charged at the Giant. Her arms wrapping around its stomach as she continued to charge. Pushing him through buildings and over piles of rubble, she forced it into a pillar of fire that surrounded the District. The flames engulfed the Giant and bought it to its knees.
Daichi flipped his Zanpakuto round into a reverse grip and leaped high into the air. He put two hands on his Zanpakuto and plunged it deep into the Giant's neck, cracking the crystal. The feel of the blade in his hands as it penetrated the flesh of the Giant gave him a strong sense of victory. He knew it was over, the titanic Giant was defeated.
He cut open the neck to see if someone was inside. The pod was a pink sack covered in blood. He tore it open and saw nothing, it's empty? Does this mean that the person and the Giant had merged? Daichi wondered. He whipped his head round and saw Rangiku scratching at the back of her neck wildly. He shunpoed over to her and helped her. Using his Zanpakuto, Daichi gently cut through the flesh of her neck, revealing the pod. Carefully, Daichi pierced the pod revealing Rangiku's body. He reached into the pod and pulled her from the connecting tissues holding her in place.
Her body was limp and her eyes were closed, Daichi shunpoed away from the combat, and put her on the same pad the Sentaro was healing on. He gently placed her head down and allowed her to rest. It would be a great loss for Squad 10 but he could still sense the Reiatsu of Hyorinmaru and his wielder, Toshiro Hitsugaya. It's not all lost over there. He pressed his lips briefly to her forehead before shunpoing off to re-enter the battle for the 13th District.
There was a gaping hole in the wall that he needed to fill, many Giants still causing trouble for his Squad. Not to mention the casualty list is still growing as he witnessed another Squad member go down. Daichi tiredly swept the battlefield around him for any survivors and he saw Yamauchi and Chiba struggling to their feet. Two of his older students, he would need to rely on them for this battle, to lead the other Squad members from the different battle zones that had been created. He quickly made his way over to them. Daichi held out a hand for Yamauchi to pull herself up. "Need a hand?" He offered.
She ignored it and got herself to her feet, "I'm fine." She grunted before turning and yanking Chiba back to his feet, "Get up you lazy bastard!" She planted her foot firmly in his rib cage.
Chiba jolted up and his perpetual frown deepened, "What the hell?!" He yelled, "Did you not see that I was thrown through a building?"
Choosing to ignore his yelling, "What do we do, Lieutenant?" She asked, "I'd like to say we're ready for anything but after seeing that, I'd be lying."
Daichi looked around and saw the carcass of the Dark-Skinned Giant burning in the flames. He turned back to his subordinates, "I need you two to take the lead of the teams along the wall, make sure nothing like that," He gestured to the Dark-Skinned Giant, "gets through do whatever you have to do. I'll stay here and block this hole."
"Aye Aye." Chiba said with a mock salute before shunpoing off to the area furthest away from the hole.
Yamauchi was more sober and simply nodded to Daichi, "Yes Lieutenant. Be safe." With that she left Daichi there.
"You too." He said to nobody in particular. Daichi headed toward the hole and examined it closely, he decided he could use a Bakudo spell to seal it. Daichi put his hands together like his teacher in the Kido Corps had taught him to do, "Brethren-in-arms withdrawing for the distance of 8 sun and standing still; blue bolt, white bolt, black bolt, red bolt; sinking into the ocean together seeking redemption, Ryūbi no Jōmon." Daichi clapped his hands and dozens of pillars flew toward he hole and filled the gap. Daichi sent another layer to reinforce the barrier. The white columns stand strongly leaving no room for anything to get through. "There, that should deal with that little problem." He turned back to face the hoard of Giants stomping around the District, "Now moving on to that problem." He said as he took hold of his Zanpakuto again and shunpoed into the battle.
