In the rocky outcrops where darkness seemed to cling to everywhere and gave off a ominous feeling was where the Worgens had taken temporarily shelter. Forther, their king, stared stiffly at one his younger children. Disbelief and wariness clear in his red eyes. "You want to stay with that man king?" The way he said man was thinly veiled insult. Ranger pursed her lips and held back any insult she wanted to throw his way. Even through he had barely been there. He was still her father and more importantly, a king. She had to at least pretend to respect."Yes, father, I don't see why you would react negativity to this. An alliance is exactly what we need to take back our homeland." Her father sent her a questioning look complete with a raised eyebrow. "Our homeland? If it is really your homeland, then why do you wish to stay with that man." He spat. Ranger sighed and looked down at her folded hands. "Because I want to, I have made all the decisions in my life so far and I will not let you stop me from making this one." She felt anger grow in her at her father. Her voice was quiet but her anger was clear. Her beast was barely contained inside her. It just wanted to get out and wreck something. To attack the being before her. But the human side of her thought more rational through. Ranger knew when it was the time to fight and time to talk.
Her father remained unfazed by her outburst. "Fine, it is your life, do with it what you like!" He shouted at her and turned away and left his daughter behind. Anger rolled off him in such a physical way. Worgens parted before him as he stalked past. Ranger growled and and shook in anger. She wanted to go after him, this was not how she wanted the relationship with her father to be like. Yet just the thought of that man drove her to insanity Ranger turned and stomped off, heading back to Gondor where people weren't so infuriating.
The place where the Worgens had made camp was far outside the city limit so Ranger had a bit of distance to cross before she was in the place she called home now. She stared at her feet as she walked when soft singing voices lifted her head up. She froze and her eyes widened. Before her was a caravan. Glowing in their otherworldly beauty and grace. Ranger stood in a daze as the Elves seemed to glide on pass her. Elves blended seamlessly together. For it was not just one group but all Elves, from all three great kingdoms. If Ranger looked closer she could pick out which Elf came from which city.
The kind hearted and warm Elves of Rivendell. The cold and dangerous Elves of Mirkwood. Finally the old and ever wise Elves of Lothlorien. They were each their own separate group but one could see the sort of kinship in between them. Ranger's eyes searched over the golden heads of the Elves. Looking for one. Finally her eyes landed on the form of the Evenstar Arwen. The She-Elf must have sensed her gaze and turned those glowing grey eyes to her. Blackness met the light and Ranger found herself striding forward. Unlike the Elves with their dance like steps. Ranger walked with prowl of a beast in hunt. Arwen turned her horse away from her kin and came to Ranger, curiosity driving her from the safety in numbers. Even when Asfaloth bayed in fear as the strange animal-like woman came towards her.
When they met finally, Ranger's hands shot out and grabbed the reins of the frightened horse to still the creature and prevent the rider from being bucked off. At least that was what Arwen liked to believe. As she looked into the dark eyes of the woman standing before her. She could not help but feel a connection with her. The dark rolling storms that were held within those orbs. The way the dark haired woman moved with the likeness of an animal. Finally Arwen willed words to come.
"Hello stranger. I am Lady Arwen of Rivendell. You wear the armor of noble birth yet I cannot say we have met in any of my long years." Arwen said with politely and the stranger before her tilted their head to the side. Adding to the animal-like natural. She raised a thick brow and gave Arwen an almost surprised look. "Lady Arwen, you wound me. Have you forgotten me so quickly." The accent in her voice changed all the words she spoke. It was like nothing she had heard before. Arwen sat in dumbfounded silence once she figured out what she had said. Imminently embarrassment washed over her and Arwen racked her brain for the woman's name. She stopped when she saw the wide smirk on the woman's mouth. Sharp fangs in clear view.
"I jest Lady Arwen. I am Ra-Lady Finonda, daughter of King Forthar of the Lost City Gilneas." The name came at a surprise to Arwen and her mind raced with old tales. "You last saw me as an animal by the name of Ranger." Ranger supplied and all the pieces clicked in the Evenstar's mind. The woman before her was the giant black beast that had claimed Aragorn's side for her own. "...Lady Finonda...it is good to see you." Ranger raised her brow up again at the unsureness in the Elf's voice and let go of the reins to the nervous horse. "I am keeping you from your kin. Please there will be time to talk in the city. I have no plans to leave Aragorn's side soon." The words came out of Ranger's throat before she could stop them and while they could sound neutral to anyone else. It sounded like an unsaid threat between them.
Arwen kept eye contact her with her as the horse guided her away from Ranger. Ranger turned and left in long strides. The strides turned into a run and suddenly she was on all fours. Racing with the wind in her hair and the landscape blurring around her as the gates of Gondor came into view. The guards knew her in both human and beast form and opened the heavy doors to her. The hard stone of city hardly gave her any traction but any clumsiness was forgotten as Ranger raced up to the castle of Gondor. The guards also knew her and stepped out of the way just in time to let her barrel past them.
Ranger skidded to a stop in the throne room and shifted to a human. Aragorn looked up at her at her sudden burst. Ranger panted and sat almost crouched like an animal. Ready to shift again.
"Finonda, what is it?" Aragorn asked her. He stepped slowly to her, noticing the almost frightened look about her. "Who has frighted you." Ranger's tongue felt like lead in her mouth as she debated what to say.
