A new day and a new life. Was it right to move on so easily? Was it right to forget the past? Both questions with no real answer. The Governor was gone for now but it was not going to last long. Nothing ever does. It's been a month since the terror Katy had been hiding for so long has been brought to the surface. She faced her fears and gave up on what she knew she would never forgive later. The Woodbury folks moved into the two other cell blocks. Nice and cozy with happiness inside them. New faces became well known and the people would become more than just a simple face. Children now ran all over the place. Judith was still the youngest but others still seemed to young to protect themselves. Jane was finding the new home more comfortable than before. It didn't feel like a small closed off town where the people were cut out from the outside world, it was better, happier and people knew the dangers. Outside in the center of the prison gates, Jane sat quietly watching the pigs run around in their pins. She smiled. They were food yes but they were certainly entertaining. An idea of having life become real was more precious to her than anything. Sounds of laughter and gratitude developed a sense of belonging and finally a feeling of safety. A short whining came from beside her. She stopped and looked down as she broke from her lean. Lyria stood there trying to get her big fat cat paws through underneath the fence. Jane smiled. "Cut that out Lyria. You stick to your deer and walkers, got it?" she said with a smirk. Lyria looked up at her and licked her lips. She then sat down and watched the pigs disperse far away from her. "Whoa cool!" Jane turned her head to see two blonde girls and a young boy running towards her and Lyria. Lyria's head turned as her ears perked high. "Is that a real life cougar?" the boy asked. Jane gave a look questioning if that was a real question. "Luke! What do you think you're doing? We can't run off like that! My dad said we have to stay up in the main gates and stay safe," the older blonde said. "It's alright. You guys can come down here. There's people looking out at every angle," Jane smiled. The girls looked at her nervously. "See Lizzie! You're so mean," Luke turned to Jane. "Can I pet it?" he asked. Jane smiled and nodded. "So Luke, Lizzie, and you are?" Jane said looking at the younger girl. The girl gulped back and stepped back. "I ain't gonna bite I promise." The girls shared a look. "My name is Mika," she said. Jane held her hand out. "That's a beautiful name! My name is Jane," she said. Mika looked at her starting to feel more comfortable. She held out her hand and shook it. Jane looked down at Luke and Lyria. "She likes you." "There you go Luke. You got what you wanted now let's go," Lizzie snapped. Jane watched her oddly. "Like Jane said, I can be down here all I want," Luke snapped with a snotty tone. "I don't mind watching him," she said. Lizzie gave a look. She stood and crossed her arms. "Okay. We all stay then," Lizzie said. "Lizzie is it?" Jane asked. Lizzie nodded. Jane gave a nervously sad smile. Lizzie looked at her. Jane's mind flashed to her daughter. She slowly sat down on a log placed just on the side of the pig pen's fence. "My daughter's name was Lizzy." Lizzie looked closely at Jane as her face began to fade. She loosened up and sat next to her. "Where is she now?" Mika asked. Jane looked over to Luke as he began to play fetch with Lyria. "I lost her when the plague began to hit. And my husband," Jane informed. Lizzie glared at her face. She lightly reached over and placed a hand on hers. Jane glared at it. "I'm sure she's looking over you then," Lizzie said. Jane looked at her and smiled again. "Lizzie, Mika, Luke! I thought I told you guys to stay in the main area by the prison!" a man yelled as he came down the hill. Lizzie, Mika and Luke rose. "We did but Luke wanted to come see the cat," Mika informed. He got closer to them and leaned down. "I was worried about you guys! At least let me know," he said. His eyes moved to Jane who now stood behind the girls. He slowly got up and wiped his hands on his jeans. "Hi, sorry about that. I don't think we met. My name is Ryan. I'm Lizzie and Mika's father," he said as he leaned out his hand. She leaned forward and connected them. "Jane. Ryan? Huh," she said. "Oh yes, you're the other Ryan's sister. He's doing a great job by the way. He's been helping us a whole lot and you mother and father too. You got a strong family there," he complimented with a smile. Jane gave a smirk at the idea of someone calling her mother and father "strong". "Yeah, you got that," she said with a sigh. "Well ah- thanks for watching the kids, really helps out a whole lot when you're looking after four and watching two teenagers," Ryan chuckled. Jane smiled. "Yeah anytime you need me I'm here," she paused for a moment at the thought of two teenagers. "You must be Jay and Greg's uncle. I see them sitting on the benches outside all the time," Jane smiled. Ryan raised his eyes brows and let out a light chuckle. He took his hand and rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah those were my sisters boys. Jay is eighteen and Greg is twenty. There something else," Ryan said. He looked up. "Well I'll see you around Jane." Jane watched as the four of them began to walk up the small hill to the prison. She let out a sigh. Friendly people but something remained odd to her. Her mind shook it off and her eyes began to wonder around her. She looked closer to the gate to see Katy glued to the stand between the two fences. She had been there ever since she got back. She hadn't slept, eaten or even spoken to anyone except Carl. Jane was beginning to worry about her. Everyone was beginning to worry about her. Katy had been placed on early fence duty. Well less so put as in volunteered. She had been glued to the fences since her nightmare came true. Her father was lurking somewhere and she knew he was coming. Even the walkers she liked better. Judgment wasn't high on their faces but Michonne's, Daryl's, Michael's and even Carl's gave her the feeling of distrust and guilt that she couldn't bare any longer. "Mornin' Katy." Katy turned to see Jay as he rubbed the back of his head and released a large yawn. "Mornin' what are you doing up?" Katy asked. Jay shrugged. "I'm an early bird," he grinned. Katy ignored his flirtatious tone and looked back out at the fence. "So we never got to finish our conversation the other day." "Maybe it's cause I didn't want too," Katy gave a smirk. Jay threw his hands up. "Whoa there! I'm just trying to make some friends," Jay said. "Why so last minute?" Katy asked. "Well I mean you stuck to the fences and barley talked to anyone for a month," Jay stated. Katy looked down. "Sorry I didn't mean to offend you." "Nah, it's all good," Katy said. She turned back to him. He looked around nervously biting at his lip. "So go ahead. Ask me anything." Jay quickly turned to her and smiled. "Okay umm," he scratched his chin. "Okay first question. You and Carl. That anything?" Katy shrugged. "He's… A boy I trust," Katy replied. Jay gave a look. "What?" "A boy you trust or you're boyfriend?" he asked. Katy gave a look. "I-I don't know?" she said. "You kiss him yet?" Jay asked. Katy blushed behind her mask. She looked down and avoided the question. "So yes? Well let's put it this way. You wanna be his girlfriend?" Katy turned to him. "I guess," Katy said. Jay gave her a look. "Y-yeah I do." "Damn," he murmured. Katy sighed beginning to regret letting him ask her questions. "I got another one. You said you were on the track and swim team in high school." "Yes sir I was the champion for both in my school," Katy said with a smile as she thought back. "Anything else?" Jay asked. Katy bit her lip. "Not really. I played basketball but nothing major," Katy informed. Jay grew a goofy smile. "You like playing it?" "Yeah it's my favourite. Why?" Katy asked. "So say if I found a basketball, you verses me? Show me what you got?" Jay asked as he gave her a flirtatious grin. Katy looked at him and began to get giggly. "Yeah okay. Deal. If you find one, I'll play you," Katy said. Jay jolted up straight. A look of excitement ran across his face. "Great! Well I better go check on my brother. See you later!" Jay said before running off. Katy watched the boy ran to the prison. She slowly turned back and shook her head with a slight laugh. Jay was one hell of a character. Typical teenage boy. Katy began to feel excited for the possible chance to play with a basketball again. The idea of playing basketball actually made Katy happy. She would love to go back and remember the times of being her schools star. Carl came out of the prison adjusting his father's sheriff hat. Carl glared down for a moment at Katy as she stood in the same spot he saw her yesterday. He sighed at the sight of it. He looked around curiously and caught a glimpse of Jay with a big smile on his face heading up from the place Katy stood. Something began to run through him. Nothing he felt before. Jealousy? Carl shook his head to get rid of the thought. He had nothing to be jealous about. Carl watched as Jay walked by him and headed to his brother. He glared finding something off. Jay looked happier than usual. "Hey Carl," Carl turned to see Jeremy and one of the Woodbury survivors, Patrick coming closer to him. "Hey," Carl replied blankly. Jeremy gave a look. "You okay?" Jeremy asked. Carl nodded. Patrick glared out from the fence looking at what Carl was paying attention to. "Isn't she crazy or something?" Patrick asked. Carl turned ready to snap. "What? Where the hell did you hear that?" Carl asked firmly and confused. Patrick gulped back. "Well I mean the rest of the people from Woodbury are still on edge with her. Some people still think she killed her family. My sister Wendy always says that she is trouble and to stay away from her," Patrick informed. Jeremy gave a look. "Your sister obviously spent too much time with the Governor," Jeremy said as he rolled his eyes and slipped his hands in his pockets. "Tell your sister not to worry about her. Katy is fine, she's a hero if you ask me," Carl stated firmly before storming off. Jeremy turned to Patrick. "Touched a nerve I guess. Come on, my dad is expecting us down at the front gate," Jeremy said. The two boys began to head down to the gate entrance. Jeremy watched the walkers closely as he made his way down. There was more than their used to be. This scared him. Jeremy was a smart boy and he knew what this could mean. Not to mention he could feel the Governor's presence everywhere he went. He was an enemy and Jeremy knew that. It wasn't long before they reached Michael. "There you are! I was beginning to worry!" Michael joked. He turned and began to load a shotgun. Jeremy and Patrick stood their confused. Spud came and sat next to them. His tongue dangled as he began to pant heavily. "What are we doing?" Patrick asked. The two turned as the door from the watch tower flew open. Out came Terry who stumbled over to them. Logan followed close behind as he chewed on a piece of grain. "You guys are my lucky little lab mice," Terry said as he dropped down the heavy machine. It was small but seemed bulky. Wires came out from the left and right of it and a small meter on the front. "What the hell is that thing?" Jeremy asked. Michael rose and placed a shotgun in Jeremy and Patrick's hands. "This here is going to measure the noise that those beauty's in your hand make," Terry stated with a smile showing his excitement. "But- but dad we can't shoot it here," Jeremy said. "We aren't. You, Patrick, Terry Logan and myself are heading further from the prison and doing this for Terry," Michael replied as he and Logan took a side each of the invention Terry had created and placed it in the back of the Logan's truck. "You coming you vagina's?" Logan chuckled. Michael gave him a look and rolled his eyes. "Come on," Terry said as he patted Spud over to the back of the truck. "Wait!" a voice called out. Michael and Logan turned back to see Sasha and Maggie heading to them. "Can we join you guys?" Maggie asked. Michael turned to Michael and shrugged. "I don't see why not. Do you Terry?" Michael asked turning to him. Terry looked at Sasha and gulped back. "Uh n-no problem at all. Michael you drive. Logan and I will sit in the back of the truck with the boys and Spud," Terry said nervously as he kept his head down and headed to the back. Michael and Logan giggled to each other as they saw Terry nervously shuffle. Logan turned his head to see Daryl and Michonne heading down the hill with all their gear and bags packed. Logan nudged Michael and pointed over. Michael's joking attitude soon turned to a cold and firm gesture. Daryl and Michonne came closer as they packed another car. Michael sighed. "I'll be right back," he said. Logan nodded and watched Michael as he began to approach them. "Where are you two headed off?" "Lookin' for the Governor," Daryl replied as he threw his bag in the back seat. Michael leaned against the car. "I see. Nothing better to do?" Michael asked. Daryl glared at him. "We need to take care of this guy Michael. You wouldn't understand," Michonne said before climbing in the passenger seat. Daryl nudged over and went to grab the door handle. Michael quickly snatched his hand and gripped it firmly. "Be smart about this Daryl. You guys can't keep going out there and looking for this guy. If he was out there, you would have found him by now. If he was out there, Katy would have come back with his head on a pike," he paused. Daryl remained with his head down. "Let this one go. We need you here. Not wondering off in you and Michonne's fantasy world. People die Daryl. I know it sucks, I get it. I feel your pain and I more than just understand it. But I'm beginning you, find an end to this endless game of yours," Michael finalized before releasing his arm. Daryl said nothing and got in the driver seat. Michael watched as the car drove off. His eyes glued to them. He found himself forming a closer friendship with Daryl. He told him everything about his son and what really happened. Why he lied to Jane about it. Daryl listened and Michael listened to him. "You ready?!" Logan yelled from the car. Michael turned and began to head over. It wasn't long before they arrived at their destination. Logan helped Terry bring the device out to the open area. They all watched as he began to set it up. Jeremy looked around observing the green grass and mysterious trees. "How does this thing work?" Sasha asked leaning closer to him. Terry began to feel himself get hotter than usual. "It-it reads-reads the levels of noise in the area. So-so when Jeremy and Patrick shoot the gun it-it records the noise level," Terry said as he looked at her for a moment than quickly back at the invention. "Why did you even make this thing?" Maggie asked. "He's been trying to find a way to figure out how to make the guns quitter. Y'know like try to invent a silencer for all the guns," Logan informed. Maggie nodded. "Alright boys! It's ready!" Terry said as he rose with excitement. "Let her rip!" Just then, Jeremy and Patrick began to pull the trigger. They shot twice at the trees. Aiming perfectly at the wood. Patrick began to feel his shoulder ache already. This wasn't his style but he did what he was told. After all it was better than hearing stories about Katy or Carl's snapping tone. Finally the last bullet flew. Michael and Logan flew up their hands and cheered at the accurate aim. "Now that was shooting," Michael said with a proud voice as he patted his son on the back. "Got what you need lab geek?" Logan asked. Terry ignored his comment. "Yup, let's head back to the prison before walkers show up," Terry said. He grabbed the side. Michael nudged his son and sent him to help out then yanked Logan back. Maggie looked at them. "You guys not coming?" she asked. "Be there in a minute," Michael smiled. Maggie nodded and followed the others. Michael and Logan stood quietly as they waited for Maggie and the others to disappear from their sight. Michael's face went cold again. Logan looked around and couldn't help but sigh. He knew what he was gonna bring up and Logan wasn't in the mood for it. "Daryl and Michonne went looking for the Governor again," Michael informed. Logan looked down. "How do you feel about that?" Logan shrugged. "Can't do much can I?" "You have just as much as a right to go like they do. You cared for Andrea. I know you want to help them and find that asshole," Michael said. "And I know you don't like a single thing about what they are doing," Logan shot back. He bit his lip and thought for a moment. "Remember what you told me after she died? You said people die. Caring for others now days is a fucking waste of time. It's hard Michael. I can manage to keep a smile on my face and I can manage to get through the day. I just can't manage the nights. I don't even remember the last time I closed my eyes without seeing her face," Logan paused. "I know that if I start going out on runs with them, I'm just gonna end up dead. I'm walker bait to everyone back at the prison. I don't wanna be that anymore. I'm trying to prove my place here and looking for a ghost ain't gonna help." "But holding onto the dead will be of no help either," Michael said before heading back to the truck. Logan sat quietly questioning what he would do next. He wanted something. Something to replace this emptiness. Something more.
