Chapter 36

It was so strange down here. The blue waters were so clear and the fish! So many different colours and shapes!

I didn't have long to marvel at the sight before me as soon we were breaking through the surface of the ocean. Time for the moment of truth.

I could almost feel my heart drop. Through the window in front of me, all I could see was a never ending stretch of water. We were in the middle of nowhere!

Oh well, at least we're alive and all those back in the citadel place were too.

Deciding it could have been a lot worse, I got up to check on my passenger. The sorcerer was still out cold, thankfully. Just to be sure, I enchanted the bond holding him before wandering of to explore this giant vessel. It looked like we may be here a while.

It wasn't long before I came to the conclusion that I wanted one of these things. It was brilliant! So many rooms and so much storage space full of supplies of anything Arthur and I could ever possibly need on one of our quests. And it wasn't just portable, it would carry us there! Ingenious!

Having explored every crevice, I made my way back to the control room with somethings that I had assume were food. Well, they tasted good anyway.

I was halfway through a sweet, bar of grain when I heard something. A knock. Someone was knocking on the door in the middle of the ocean.

Bemused, I began to search for the source of the sound. As I approached the rounded door above the wing, I began to hear a muffled voice.

"…Merlin! We know you in here! Open up you useless dollop-head!..."

I knew that voice anywhere. I ran the rest of the distance to the door and practically punched the thing next to it. The door slid upwards to reveal a relived looking Arthur.

"There you are! You had me worried there for a second!"

It took me a second to decided whether to hug him or give some kind of sarcastic remark. The later won.

"A whole second! Well it's nice to know you care!" I said failing to hold back a grin. It was only then that I noticed his blackening eye. "And it looks like you're not the only one that should've been worried. What happened to you?"

Arthur glanced over his shoulder where the Tracy's were clambering onto the wing.

"Only a little misunderstanding, it's all fine now. I think they believe us now."

Looking to the Tracy's for confirmation, I tensed when Scott climbed up, but he simply gave me a not-particularly-friendly-but-equally-not-particularly-hostile look before helping Virgil up.

As soon as Virgil was up he practically ran for the door but I grabbed his arm before he could make it through.

"I'd wait for me to check it's safe first. Our guest was out cold when I left him, but he may have come to."

"The sorcerer?" he asked to which I nodded.

Arthur just stared at me, one eyebrow raised.

"You?" he asked, "And why must you be the one to face this sorcerer? Let's face it Merlin, you're the least capable one here!"

That last statement took me by surprise. I gestured to the brothers.

"Weren't you calling this lot peasants just yesterday? Anyway, I think you'll find I'm the most capable as I have had the most practice avoiding his powers over the past few hours!"

"He has a point." Gordon said, backing me up.

Arthur rolled his eyes. "Fine! If it makes you feel important, go and check on your little friend."

I glanced at Gordon in thanks. I was just about to head back in when I had a thought.

"Wait. Where are we and how did you get here so quickly?"

In answer. Arthur just grabbed my shoulder before dragging me further out onto the wings. From this point of view, Tracy Island was clearly visible. So my spell did work!

"oh…" I said.

Arthur just shoved me toward the door again. "Now go before I do!"
