Going crazy wasn't really as bad as Dakota had thought it would, slowly loosing his mind and getting these blackouts. Looking more and more like a homeless person, he probably looked like hell. Even though there were negative things about the flare, the were also something positive: Dakota could both see and talk to Barney, the supposed dead Barney! Sitting in his fully empty, small, white painted cell. Dakota had no one else but Barney, he hadn't seen his friends for day or maybe weeks? Who knows really.
"Say man, I thought I was going to get my friends out of this klunk place but now I'm trapped. I can't do nothing in here." Dakota whined as he played with his necklace, the only thing except for his clothes WICKED hadn't taken away from him. Barney just sat in his corner, quiet but still alert.
"You ain't even trying, kid." He finally said after a long minute making Dakota smirk, the old man was right.
"Just waiting for the right opportunity, that's all." He mused as he lied down on his back, his gace on the ceiling and his hand still on the necklace around his neck.
"That so? I though you had just simply given up." Barney shrugged seeming not to care either way, he probably didn't. 'Stupid old crank', Dakota thought in his head earning a glare from the old man. Dakota just rolled his eyes at the glare and instead focused his attention on the door, only a few minutes til someone would bring him food.
"You know old man, I once believed that I would be able to be free. That I was born for a reason, that's what kept me going through this whole hell. But now in later day I have come to realise, this ain't my story and it ain't me who's supposed to be the hero." Dakota said feeling miserable to actually admit it, Barney just raised an questioning eyebrow.
"So you just gonna give up then?" Barney sighed not really keeping up with the teens thinking, one second positive and the next negative.
Dakota frowned "I didn't say that! I'm just saying that my story won't end happy." He corrected making Barney let out a small 'Oo', understanding what the boy was going on about.
"So you're planning on dying?" Barney asked looking at the boy on the floor, he looked like a mess. Dakotas face was full of bruises and scratches, his hair standing in all kinds of directions and his clothes ripped in several places. Blood and scratches all over his body and eyes bloodshot from lack of sleep, or maybe just from the flare. But even with that look a real and mischievous smirk was last ere to his lips.
"Cranks have no place in paradise." Dakota said in an slightly sad tone, he had already accepted that but it was still sad to die so soon. He wouldn't go to paradise but he would damn well make the rest of the immune subjects would, he wasn't going to be selfish.
"True." Barney chuckled but stopped at the sound of the door opening soon showing a dark haired man in a white lab coat standing on the other side, he looked rather young and shaky: no one liked the duty of feeding the crank. Dakota eyed the man up and down, his eyes stuck to the small handgun the scientist was hiding under his coat.
"Eyy shuckface!" Dakota said in a teasing voice, "Why in such a hurry?" That made the scientist stop and straightening up, trying to look braver then he were. Dakota just found it amusing and made nothing to hide it, smirking as he got up from the floor and to his feet.
"What'cha got there?" He asked curiously while looking at the food in the mans hands, bread and an apple. Dakota wanted to sigh but refrained himself from it, he instead turned his gace to the scientist as he walked closer and closer.
"S-stay back crank!" The man warned as he started to reach for his gun but Dakota had already gone for the kill and hadn't hesitated, he tackled the guy and with all his strength punch his fist to the guys throat making him suffocate as his throat closed up. Taking the gun from the now dead guys coat, Dakota walked out of the room. No alarms had been alerted making it easy to move around, he just needed to avoid the guards and other scientists. Hiding behind corners and running past open doors, Dakota made it to the hallway were all the subjects were held. The sudden sound of the alarm made him flinch, he hadn't been spotted had he?
"It's the Red Arm! They're breaking in!" A guard shouted while running towards the direction of the intruders, he rest of the guards close behind him. Dakota just frowned, never heard of anything of the kind but guessed it must be some good people trying to get to paradise.
"Shuck!" He cursed, with all the guards gone he had no way of opening the doors! He had no key! Dakota groaned feeling more and more annoyed, it took much of his energy and willpower to not give in to the flare. He could feel it creeping under his skin trying to make him submit and let himself go, to just give in and let the darkness take him away from his misery. He just shrugged it of, trying to focus on the task of finding some stray guard who had stayed behind. He ran through the nearby corridors hoping to anyone that he would find someone soon or he and the other subjects would be scrue, he hadn't gotten much time left.
"Hey you there!" The sudden voice made him stop dead in his track, Dakota sighed deeply. His smirk going even bigger as he turned around and found himself with a gun against his head, a scared looking guard holding it with shaky hands against his forehead. Dakota just smirked at him before raising his fist and shucked it in the guards face.
