"Babe?" Beca asked as she still held the ring out.

Chloe's eyes widened as tears welled in her eyes. "Beca…"

"Is that a yes?"

Chloe shut her eyes as she shook her head no. "I can't say yes Beca… I-I'm not ready.."

Beca dropped the ring and looked at Chloe sadly. "B-But you just said… you said you wanted to marry me.."

"One day Beca.. Not yet.."

Beca bit her lip as she tried to keep her emotions in check. "Uh… You kicked me to the curb last year because you didn't think I was mature enough for you… You said you wanted to start your life and I was too young to want that.." She cleared her throat. "Why don't you want to marry me?"

Chloe sighed. "Bec-"

"Forget it!" Beca yelled angrily as she got off the bed and put clothes on.

"Beca we were having such a good time! Where are you going?"

Beca rolled her eyes as she put her shoes on. "I've gotta be anywhere but here.." She said angrily before rushing out the room and out of the house before Chloe could get another word in.

Chloe let out a breath as tears rolled down her face. "Shit.." She said sadly as she picked up the box that held the ring Beca had for her.

"Is everything okay Beca?" Stacie asked as she rushed into Beca's studio.

Beca sighed. "I needed someone to talk to."

Stacie frowned. "Bec it's three in the morning.. What's going on?"

Beca let out a breath and took a sip out of her bottle as tears rolled down her face. "Chloe and I are over."

Stacie's eyes widened. "Whoa. No no no.. What the hell happened? You guys looked so happy at the Grammys and I just saw the Instagram post.."

"I asked Chloe to marry me and she said no.." Beca said sadly.

Stacie nodded. "I'm sorry Bec.. Does that mean you guys have to break up though?"

Beca quirked a brow. "She said no Stace."

"I hear you Beca but that doesn't mean she doesn't love you and doesn't want to be with you.. It just means she's not ready for marriage yet.. You guys haven't even been dating long. That'd be like me asking Aubrey to marry me."

"Well that's different, you guys haven't been together as long as us."

Stacie laughed. "B we got together a month after you and Chloe.."

Beca sighed and nodded. "Am I overreacting?"

"Maybe a little.." Stacie said with a shrug. "I understand your pain.. I get it.. The love of your life turned you down and it hurts and it bruised your ego… But that doesn't mean she doesn't love you.. I know for a fact she loves you a whole lot.. Just go home and talk with her.. After you sober up."

Beca nodded. "I will.."

"Your relationship isn't over Beca.."

Beca sighed. "But what if she wants to break up with me because I proposed?"

"I don't see why she would, but if she does we'll get through it together."

Beca nodded and pulled Stacie into a hug. "Thank you."

"Of course. You know I got your back, that's why you called me."

"Chloe?" Beca called out a few hours later as she walked in their house. "Chlo?" Beca frowned as she was met with silence. She ran up the steps and into their bedroom frowning when she saw it was empty. "What the hell?"

She frowned when she a piece of paper on the bed.

I'm sorry..

Beca quickly pulled out her phone and called Chloe. "Chloe where are you? I'm sorry I never came back last night I just needed to clear my head and I didn't want to come home drunk. Please call me back when you get this message."

Beca sighed and sat on the bed. "How did everything go so bad?" She dialed Stacie's number and let out a breath when she answered. "Hey Stace have you guys heard from Chloe? Could you ask Aubrey?"

"Beca?" Aubrey said as she took the phone from Stacie.

"Aubrey, hey.. Have you spoken to Chloe by any chance?"

"I have actually.. I'm sorry about what happened, she told me everything."

Beca nodded. "Thank you, so uh do you know where she is?"

Aubrey sighed. "Uh yeah.. She left.. She went back to New York to her parents."

Beca's eyes widened. "What? Why would she do that?"

"She thinks you don't want to be with her anymore and she needed to get away."

"Fuck.. Thank you Aubrey.. I'll talk to you guys later." She said before quickly hanging up.

"Chloe what are you doing here?" Laura asked once Chloe settled in.

Chloe sighed as tears rolled down her face. "Beca and I are over and I just had to get out of town."

Laura frowned. "What? How is that even possible.. You guys looked so happy last night."

Chloe nodded. "Too happy.. She proposed to me last night."

Laura's eyes widened. "Oh… And I guess you said no.."

"Yeah.."

"Why?"

Chloe looked at her mom in shock. "Don't you think it's too soon?"

Laura shrugged. "She told your father and I when she got the ring and we were waiting for the call everyday.. Just wondering when she would ask you.. Honestly it is kind of fast, but the way you two love each other makes it okay.."

"I just.. I see how internet trolls harass other celebrities if they get engaged or married to quick and I don't want to go through that."

Laura sighed. "You can't let your fear of what other people might think dictate your life.. If you and Beca were just regular people, not celebs and she asked you to marry her what would you have said?"

Chloe sighed and let out a small smile. "I would have immediately told her yes.. I love her so much mom."

"How did Beca take it when you told her no?"

Chloe closed her eyes as she remembered the dread on Beca's face. "I crushed her soul mom.. I broke her heart and I could tell she was trying so hard not to blow up on me… She just left."

Laura nodded. "Have you spoken to her?"

"I'm scared… She called me but I ignored it.. I took off this morning while she was still gone.."

Laura sighed. "This relationship is too pure to suffer like this. Fix it Beale." She said sternly.

Chloe nodded and cleared her throat. "Yes ma'am.. I just wanna take a nap first.. I'm so exhausted."

"Get some rest baby." Laura watched as Chloe walked up the stairs before pulling out her phone and calling Beca.

"I'm glad you called." Beca said a few hours later as she walked into the Beale household. "I was actually already on my way."

Laura nodded. "I'm glad you love my daughter enough to immediately fly all the way down here, you guys need to have a good talk."

Beca sighed and nodded. "We definitely do.. Where is she?"

"Upstairs sleep, she's been locked in her room all day."

Beca nodded. "You think you and Richard could go out for a few hours? I'll send you guys to a nice restaurant, I just want to do something special for Chloe."

Laura grinned. "You're the sweetest, I'll let Richard know."

Beca smiled and watched as Laura walked away before pulling her phone out and making a phone call.

Chloe woke up and let out a small sigh. "It wasn't a dream.." She whispered to herself sadly. She grabbed her phone and called Beca, sighing when it went straight to voicemail. Beca I know I hurt you by telling you no.. And I know I hurt you even more by just leaving and ignoring you all day.. I love you so much and I'm so sorry I ruined our relationship.

She walked out of her room and was immediately met with the smell of food. "I haven't eaten all day and that food smells really good, so I hope you have enough for me mom." Chloe said as she walked downstairs.

"I got enough for two… and I got your favorite." Beca said with a shy smile.

Chloe looked up from her phone with wide eyes. "Beca.." She said quietly. She took in her surroundings, lights out, candles lit, soft music, table decorated and some of her favorite foods from her favorite New York restaurants on the table. "What's going on?"

Beca shrugged. "You took off and went to a whole other state before we could talk.."

"Beca I'm sorry.. I-"

"Sit.. eat.. It's okay, we're gonna talk this out and see what we end up with."

Chloe nodded and sat at the table. "Thank you for all of this.. I'm the one that messed up and you're still here making things right like you did something wrong."

Beca shrugged and took a sip of her wine. "Maybe I did do something wrong… Clearly proposing to you wasn't the right thing to do, it messed up our perfect little bubble we were in."

Chloe shook her head. "No.. I was wrong.. I was too worried about what other people would think and I hurt not only myself, but you… and I hurt our relationship."

Beca nodded. "So that's why you told me no? Because you're afraid of what other people would say and think."

"Yeah, I mean it was already a big deal that we were sorta together so soon after Sasha and I see how people act to other people who get engaged or married after a short period of time and I freaked out… I was scared…"

Beca nodded and reached across the table to grab Chloe's hand. "I understand.. I talked to Stacie last night, and she kinda spoke some sense into me… I don't want to lose you Chloe.. I'm sorry I proposed and I'm sorry I got angry with you but I don't want that to end us.."

"Please stop apologizing, you didn't do anything wrong and your feelings were valid. When you proposed to me I felt so happy and like the luckiest girl in the world, but then the fear set in and took over… But I don't want it to win.. I want to marry you Beca."

Beca smiled. "Really?"

Chloe smiled and nodded. "Really really.."

Beca awkwardly cleared her throat and stood up. "This is the last time I'm doing this, so if you say no.. well we just won't be getting married for a long time."

Chloe laughed and playfully shook her head. "Shut up Beca."

Beca smirked and stood in front of Chloe before dropping onto one knee. "Chloe this day has been rough as hell but even through all, my love for you grows stronger.. Will you please make me the happiest woman on earth by agreeing to marry me?"

Chloe smiled but before she could say yes a thought passed her mind. "Wait one second!" Chloe said as she ran up the stairs.

Beca sighed and shook her head before sitting back down in the chair and sipping her wine. "I hope you know I'm not proposing to you again!" Beca yelled. "If you wanna get married you gotta propose to me! And you better hope I say yes!"

Chloe ran back down the stairs laughing. "Hush! Now close your eyes!"

Beca rolled her eyes. "Babe.."

"Close em Mitchell!"

Beca sighed but closed her eyes. "Fine.."

Chloe let out breath. "Okay, open.."

Beca gasped seeing Chloe down on one knee. "Chlo.."

"I think it makes more sense for me to be proposing to you don't you think?" Chloe said with a small smile. "My grandma gave me her ring when I was seventeen.. She knew she was dying and wanted me to have it. She was the first person I told I liked girls to.. Well she asked me and I confirmed it.. She told me to give it to the woman I loved because she somehow knew I'd end up with a girl." Chloe said with a chuckle. "She never liked the boys I dated and she always told me, I gave you that ring because your soulmate is a beautiful young lady waiting somewhere out there for you. She told me my lover would be beautiful, sassy, smart, talented, and everything I need in my life and she was so fucking right." Chloe said as a tear fell down her face. "My grandma sent me you.. And I love you so much Beca.. Please, Please Marry me!"

Beca sighed. "Wow Chlo, that speech was beautiful.. But I don't want to marry you anymore.." Beca said sadly.

"What?"

Beca laughed and pulled Chloe into a hug. "I'm sorry I had to get you back, of course I'll marry you babe!"

Chloe slapped Beca's arm. "Jerk!" She said before pulling Beca into a kiss. "I love you."

"I love you too!" She grabbed Chloe's hand. "Now let me put this ring on your finger."

Chloe smiled. "Let me put yours on you too."

As they slid the rings on each others fingers, the front door opened. "Oh my god!" Laura yelled happily. "My baby!"

Chloe looked over at her parents and laughed. "Perfect timing."

"You're gonna be a great addition to the family." Richard said as he pulled Beca into a hug.

Beca smiled. "Thanks."

Laura clapped happily and pulled Beca and Chloe into a tight hug. "I'm so excited! Oh Beca we've got to arrange a meeting with your parents, a family dinner or something."

"Uh maybe.. My family's a bit complicated." Beca said awkwardly.

Chloe grabbed Beca's hand. "Once you tell them we're engaged they should be able to come together for you."

Beca nodded. "I sure hope so."

Chloe kissed Beca before looking at her mom. "I gave her the ring.. This is who gram was telling me about I think."

Laura grinned as she looked at her mother's ring on Beca's finger. "I think so too."
