AN: Hey everyone, sorry for the wait. I've been really busy with school and stuff. I have so may papers to write and books to read it's not even funny. Three English courses this semester as much as I love them, I'm starting to wonder what I was thinking.

So this chapter is basically a filler chapter. Cause I'm not sure whether to write Ben and Abigail's wedding or not or skip to the epilogue that's two years later. So honestly it'd be great if you guys commented and said what you would like to read next. The epilogue is exciting because that one is gonna be a Christmas chapter and it's gonna be a lot of fun.

Another thing about this chapter is that it is an idea of what I could dabble with for one final story, if you guys would like another story after this. If not, totally cool, this will be the last Beauty and the Techie if you don't want a fourth and final installment. Up to you. But I'll write more on this later.

This chapter is dedicated to Guin Parris, Musical Cake, JainaZekk621, and destiel-is-in-the-impala.

Happy reading everyone and I hope you all enjoy.

Chapter Thirty-Five: Verne

Riley and I spent a weekend on a beach in Bora, Bora Tahiti before we went back home. It was a much need weekend to sort everything out before we could go home.

"Couldn't we have stayed for just one more day?" Riley asked after we got off the plane. It had been a long time since we had a weekend that was just us. We hadn't had one of those weekends since... um… before Carissa was born actually.

"No. We've already been gone for too long. We need to get back to Carissa and Zach." I replied.

"Killjoy." Riley teased.

"Yup." I smiled.

Patrick's POV

I love taking care of Carissa and Zach, but ever since Carissa came back from Norway, she's changed. Not sure if it was for the better or not. Her time looking for this treasure has made her treasure obsessed. Something tells me she's going to be following Ben, Bianca, and Riley into the family business. She's been in the library for the past couple of days looking for books about treasure and legends about treasure. I hid Journey to the Center of the Earth and The Mysterious Island from her. The last thing I want her to become is a Vernean. That's worse than believing the gates family myth; at least our crazy obsession was real.

"Grandpa, I found the books I want." Carissa said coming out of the library. I told her that she could have some of the books in the library to add to the little one of her own. She had found Treasure Island, The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Swiss Family Robinson, The Count of Monte Cristo, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Around the World in 80 Days, The Princess Bride, The Three Musketeers, Ender's Game, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Lost World (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's novel, not Michael Crichton's), Jurassic Park, The Mysterious Island, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and In Search of the Castaways.

I counted in those sixteen books, two books by JRR Tolkien, two by Robert Louis Stevenson, two by Alexandre Dumas, and five by Jules Verne, including the two I didn't want her to find.

"You're going to end up being the Vernean in the family, aren't you?" I asked rhetorically. There was always one in every generation. My brother was one. Tess is a closet one. It runs pretty deep in the family.

"What's a Vernean?"

"That's not important right now." I replied softly, not really wanting to answer that question, "Which one would you like to start with?" She handed me Journey to the Center of the Earth.

'Definitely going to be a Vernean.'

We brought the books in the living room and I started to read to her.

Bianca's POV

We set down our stuff at home and Riley started unpacking while I called my dad. He already knew I was alive and couldn't talk to him until everything was already over. I didn't want him to have a heart attack when I faked my death. That would not have been too good.

"So everything worked out?" Dad asked when he picked up the phone.

"How'd you know it was me?"

"Caller ID."

"Oh, yeah. I forgot about that." I replied, "Yeah, everything worked out. Ian and his wife are trapped on a deserted island for a while. I'll have Barnes and Scotty go and pick them up in a few days." I explained, and then asked, "How are Carissa and Zach doing?"

"Zach's great. He's sleeping now. Carissa is alright, bit different from when I last saw her. She's treasure obsessed and has found the Jules Verne books in the library."

"So she found some of the Jules Verne books." I replied, not seeing his point.

"You know what happens to Gates family members when they are interested in Verne."

"They become Verneans." I replied, and then called to Riley, "Ri, do you have any Verneans in your family?"

"What's a Vernean?"

"Someone obsessed with Jules Verne and his works and thinks the works are real basically. It's ridiculous." I explained to him.

"So were the last three treasures, but those were true…"

"Yes, but those stemmed from legends. The works of Verne – They're works of fiction. There's no truth in them. They're all made up. That's like saying Treasure Island is real, or the Mummy, or Indiana Jones, or Jurassic Park, or Alice in Wonderland I mean if you can go to the center of the Earth, why not just try to go to Wonderland, while you're at it. It's that ridiculous. Do you know how the characters got to the mysterious island? They crash landed on it because of stormy weather. In some adaptions they even went through a hurricane. That's ridiculous. Do you know the chances of surviving that?"

"Minimal?" Riley guessed.

"I'm still on the phone." Dad interjected, "And as much as you're against the Vernean outlook, you know as well as I there's nothing you can do to stop it."

"I highly doubt she's going to be a Vernean, dad. She's only five; she probably liked the book cover or something."

"You'd be surprised." Riley commented.

"We'll be over in bit, dad."

"Alright." He hung up.

"Ready to go?"

"Yeah."

We left to go get Carissa and Zach.
