World 5 Scene 1: Return of the Duke Wolf (slightly Juubi-edited)
After being dismissed to their rooms to sleep the presumably night, Naruto was currently on his way to his, accompanied by Haku, Zabuza, and Anko, with the latter giving the ice maiden the stink eye as she had here arms wrapped around Naruto's, the two in the midst of talking, with Naruto telling Haku, and the listening Zabuza of the adventures he had taken since the last time they saw him. As Haku looked at Naruto in awe, listening to his recap of the time he helped escort and save the formerly heir, now Daimyo, Koyuki Kazahana of Snow Country - now Spring Country - Zabuza shook his head in disbelief. It wasn't that he didn't believe the brat, simply unable to believe the incredible luck - whether good or bad - the kid had to be finding himself in drastic situations just about every other week..
Running into Orochimaru during his first Chunnin Exam.
Being put in the midst of an invasion.
Literally facing another Jinchuuriki, then their tailed beast.
Going on an adventure with a Sannin to find another Sannin to become the Hokage.
Being in the middle of a Sannin 3-way battle royal.
So on and so on.
'Kid either has Lady Luck crushing on him, or hating his guts.' He thought, shaking his head, before glancing at the annoyed Tokubetsu Jōnin, raising a brow. He had seen her interactions with the brat, and if he didn't know any better, he would say there was something going on her.
But it was not possible, right? A grown woman - a hot one at that - possibly having an attraction to a puny genin? One perhaps 5 to 10 years his senior. Not even the brat's skills could be that impressive to attract women…
Could it?
Zabuza mentally groaned. 'If I'm wrong, and the babe really does like the gaki...I'll hate him. Some people have such luck..'
Meanwhile, with Anko, still glaring at Haku, she was trying to think off a plan. A plan for what exactly? A plan to insure that no one got Naruto to fall for them before HER! If anyone was going to tap that cute blond ass, it was going to be her. Sure she wasn't against a threesome or more with other women added to the mix (especially Kurenai), but she wanted to try him out first, see what she was working with, and see where she would need to help him improve on.
Jinchuuriki Stamina + Sex Lessons = Trip to Nirvana
As well as being curious about something, thinking back on a small rumor she had heard of, on how male Jinchuuriki were more...developed thanks to all that chakra inside of them.
She grinned madly at the thought, making the oblivious Naruto shiver, a feeling of heavy dread falling on his shoulders. 'Watch your back.' His gut said.
Soon, the group make it to the rooms, standing in front of Naruto's door, with two newly added empty rooms. Created for Zabuza and Haku. Turning to the blond, Haku smiled at him. "Well, guys I'll see you tomorrow, Naruto-kun."
Smiling back, Naruto nodded. "Definitely, dattebayo!" He stated, before blushing in embarrassment as Haku giggled at his verbal tic. Coughing into his fist awkwardly, he looked away. "Um...yeah, so I'll see you tomorrow."
Nodding, Haku turned to enter her room, but stopped mid-step. Blinking in confusion at her, Naruto was about to ask her what was wrong, when she surprised him.
"Chu..."
Blue eyes fluttered, before widening fully. From the spot where the soft feeling laid, heat spread from it, till his whole face was a bright burning red. Keeping her hold for another second, Haku then pulled away, her lips leaving Naruto's whiskered cheek. Giving him another smile, Haku turned, before entering her room, leaving the three standing outside.
Standing there, dumbstruck, Naruto was unable form any words. Thankfully, there was something to snap him out of it.
In the worst way possible.
A heavy wave of death and suffering slammed into him, turning his blood into ice, and spine snapping straight. With great reluctance, he turned his head, coming face to face with the heavy, demonic glare of Zabuza Momochi, a violet, evil aura surrounding him. Visions of his death in many different ways flashing in his eyes, Naruto couldn't even fall backwards, stuck in place.
Holding his killer intent and glare for a while longer, Zabuza finally released them, before silently turning around, and without a glance back, entered his room, shutting his door close a bit roughly.
Naruto shaking in place, and Anko having a small amused smirk, the woman then proceeded to grab Naruto by the back of his jacket, and dragged him into his room, closing the door behind them.
Laying on top of his bed, Naruto let out a heavy sigh. "That could have gone better, dattebayo. Thought he was going to kill me for a sec there."
"Oh, he definitely looked like he wanted to."
Eyes rolling to the side, Naruto looked next to him at Anko, who laid next to him on the bed. Her coat on - thankfully - as she looked up at the ceiling, an amused smirk on her face. The small event that has passed amused her.
It wasn't every day that one saw the formerly deceased, infamous Demon of the Hidden Mist go all Overprotective Father.
Of course, if it had come to it, she would have stopped Zabuza from killing her brat. She needed him alive, of course.
Looking at the purple haired woman, Naruto couldn't help but say what was on his mind. "Why are you here anyway? Don't you have your own room?"
Turning her head towards him, Anko's smirk grew. "Well, I slept so well last time, that I thought why not have another sleepover with you again. You're really warm, you know that? Like a giant teddy bear."
Naruto's face burned red at her teasing. He groaned as Anko nudged closer to him, pressing against his side. He was too tired to deal with this.
Snickering at his expression, Anko's smirk lessened to a soft smile. "Jokes aside, how are you feeling? You looked bothered back there."
Glancing at her, he then turned his attention to the ceiling. "I don't know. Tired, I guess."
Anko nodded. "That's understandable, you've saw a lot since we've got here."
Nodding, Naruto sighed. "You know, I thought this was going to be fun. Seeing other versions of myself, see how cool they were. Instead, I found that not only were they cool, but actually better and stronger than me. Then I learned that my father was the freaking Fourth Hokage, my friends found out that I held the Kyuubi, which my own dad put it me, not gonna forget that. And now, Zabuza and Haku-chan are actually back! Alive! All of this is crazy!"
Again nodding, Anko looked at the tired expression on his face. "Yeah, it's been one crazy ride alright, but you can't let those thoughts fill your head brat. You'll drive yourself insane."
'Too late for that.' He thought, recalling the voice he heard, and for once, it wasn't the fox.
Anko poked his cheek, making him blink, turning to her. She smiled at him, a soft smile. "You want answers, I get that, and if I had to guess, Lady Hokage and the old perv might have them. However, you can do that tomorrow. Right now, you need to sleep. Bad."
Naruto wanted to protest, but honestly felt completely drained. The yawn given being proof. Smirking at the brat being unable to argue with her, Anko pulled him into her embrace, much to his surprise and embarrassment. "That settles that. Time to sleep brat, and no, I not going anywhere."
Grumbling under his breath, looking away with pink cheeks, Naruto decided to just go with it and closed his eyes. Seconds later, he fell asleep. Smiling at his relaxed face, Anko moved the covers over them before falling asleep herself.
But not before removing her coat. Won't the brat be in for a surprise come morning, kukuku!
Opened his eyes, grumbling about sleep passing too quickly for his liking, Naruto blinked when he didn't find himself in the room.
Nor did he find himself in the boiler room of his mindscape, with Kyuubi's glare aimed at him like always.
No, instead, he found himself back at his apartment, standing in the living room. Looking around in confusion, he wondered how he got there. "What the hell?" He asked, scratching the back of his head. Was he in a genjutsu? A dream? Or one of the fox's tricks?
Looking outside the window at the village outside, he smiled. Genjutsu/dream or not, he was glad to see his home again. He wondered when they would be done looking at other dimensions, so they could return home.
!
Spinning around in an instant, Naruto got in a defensive stance, having heard something. Looking around the room, he didn't see anything out of place, anything that could have made that noise.
But like Kakashi-sensei always said, "Always look underneath the underneath."
He stayed still, waiting to see if any other noise appeared again.
He wasn't disappointed, as seconds later, the door to his bedroom began opening slowly, making him tense. Kami he wished he had a kunai with him. The door opening fully, he could faintly see a figure in the darkness. Narrowing his eyes, Naruto clenched his fists at the ready. "I know you're there! Come out!" He demanded.
However, the figure remained silence and still, not moving from its position. Growling in anger, he was about to demand again, when something zipped past him. He flinched, feeling a sharp pain, as he heard a thud behind him. Turning his head, he blinked as he saw a kunai knife buried into the wall to the handle.
"This apartment is crap, wouldn't you agree?"
Turning to the figure still in his room, Naruto raised a brow at them.
"Walls cracked, stained by who knows what, the water barely works, not to mention the electricity and heater. Talk about getting the short end of the stick."
'What the hell are they talking about?'
"Talk about a sick joke. Leaving a 5 year old to live alone in a terrible apartment, with no idea how to take care of themself. Yeah...just one bad joke."
Naruto was getting annoyed. "You are not making any sense! Who are you?!"
The figure chuckled. "You know who I am, just as I know who you are. A shredded picture held against a mirror. One viewed clearly, the other truthfully. Question is, which is which?
"What the hell are you talking about, dattebayo?!"
"Kukuku. You'll find out soon enough, King. Have fun on your throne till it's , the real fun begins."
More confused than before, Naruto wanted answers, and was about to demand them, when his vision began to go dark. He tried to fight it off, to no use. Last thing he saw, where red eyes in the darkness.
At the "presentation room", Shin stood there, currently on the phone. "Sure, I can show your story. I mean, world, Storm...Ah ha...yeah...yeah, I can do it. It's a pretty short story so it won't take too much time...yeah. Yeah, I'll get to your other stories eventually. I have particular ideas with your Naruko stories. Yeah, ok. Catch ya later. And Happy Birthday." He ended the call as the group began entering.
With a snap of his fingers, a table of food appeared. "Alright, eat up then we can begin. I also have news that I'll tell you when you're ready."
As the group ate, they conversed with each other, all wondering on the next world they will see. Sakura hoped it will be one where she wasn't...a bitch. She at least wanted one world that she wasn't portrayed terribly.
Kiba hoped to see one where either he appeared more than just a single scene, or showed up as well.
Tsunade just hoped to see worlds where Naruto was happy with a girl.
Jiraiya was the same, except that Naruto had a girl or two...or three...or a group.
Shikamaru just hoped to nap.
Meanwhile, Naruto was silent, his mind stuck on the strange 'dream' he had, wondering what that was about. He wanted to ask Kyuubi, feeling it was his doing, but discarded that idea. Maybe it was nothing. Though that didn't make the weird feeling in his chest go away.
Soon, everyone finished eating and gathered around Shin, as the god-like figure began speaking. "Okay, because I feel things are going a bit slow, I've decided to head thing into Phase 2."
Tsunade rose a brow at him. "Phase 2? What's that supposed to mean?" She asked him suspiciously.
Shin waved her suspicion off. "Nothing too dangerous ('Maybe') 'Phase 2' simply means that we will be going deeper into the Naruto-verse."
"What do you mean by 'deeper'?" Asuma asked. Shin looked at him, then at everyone.
"What I mean is that we have only just scratched the surface of the universe as a whole. Future worlds will display more danger, chaos, and battles. There will be blood, war, even death to some of your counterparts. Not to mention it might even reveal secrets that you never thought possible. Both of history, the world, even yourselves that you might never have thought of. Whether those secrets are truth or lies, is up to you to decide." He stated, getting murmurs from the group. "Not only that, but as we progress, we will be getting more watchers to join us. Who, will be kept a surprise." The curious murmurs grew. "The types of worlds will be far in difference, and shocking to most, if not all of you. And it is with that, that I will say the following. Iruka Umino, and the youngsters will no longer be with us in our travel, and be returned home."
"WHAT?!" Konohamaru shouted in anger, as well as his friends, while Iruka blinked in surprise and confusion. "Why do we have to go, while everyone else stays?! It's not fair!"
Shin crossed his arms, looking at the young boy. "Like I said, the worlds we see from now on may contain danger and gruesome scenes at worse. I am not getting in trouble for showing kids something they shouldn't have, and possibly scaring their minds. ('I'm already in deep shit for almost showing sex in front of you'). You can whine all you want, but it is so."
Face red with anger, Kono was about to shout more, when Iruka covered his mouth. "We understand. Shin-sama." Nodding at the man, Iruka gave his farewell to Naruto and the others, before standing to the side with the pouting Academy kids.
Before sending him away, Shin gave Iruka his last statement. "When you return, no time has passed since you were summoned. To your perspective, the others will join you seconds later, even if time here has passed. Just a reminder so you don't get confused." He said, with Iruka nodding in understanding. "Farewell." With a swipe of his hand, the teacher and children vanished in a flash of light. With that done, Shin turned to the others. "Now then, before we start with our original destination, I want to make a quick stop at a friend of mine's dimension, as he wants me to show off some of his created worlds. So yeah, we're checking it out." He said as he summoned his trusty sphere - maybe he should come up with a name for it? - to his hand.
"Anything we should be aware of before we see it?" Kakashi asked as the world darkened.
"Weeeeeell..." Shin stretched out, debating if he should tell them. "...the Naruto there is...kinda dark. Not evil, just dark. For the right reason." He said, making most of them frown worriedly, including Naruto himself. "Along with that...there will be some bashing on the members of Team 7..." Kakashi, Sasuke, and Sakura frowned at this. "Sorry." He apologized just the the world faded into view and they found themselves at Training Ground 7.
"Come on!" Shouted Naruto Uzumaki as he struggled against his bindings
Naruto was currently tied to a wooden post at Training Ground Seven. The reason he was tied up was because his new sensei, Kakashi Hatake, and teammates, Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, had left him tied up, right after Kakashi had preached how those who abandoned their friends and teammates are trash.
Kakashi flinched, recalling that he did forget to untie Naruto after leaving him tied to the post, and had only cut him down after his meeting with the Hokage to report his team passing…and two hours after going grocery shopping.
And from the growl from Naruto, he remembered too. He'll have to make it up to him later.
However, the heavy glare from Tsunade let him know she saw his flinch and that he was in deep shit.
'Why the hell was I even tied up, I at least tried getting the bells, Sakura didn't even try being taken out by simple Genjutsu and fainting!' Naruto mentally ranted.
This time it was Sakura who flinched, knowing that A-Naruto had a point. All she did was fall into an illusion and faint. Then faint again at the sight of a bodiless Sasuke, yet Naruto - who actually tried to get a bell - was tied up without food. Talk about unfair.
Even Sasuke looked a bit guilty, no matter how much he tried to hide it.
While anyone who knew the blonde would be shocked at what he thought of his "Precious Sakura-chan", being left tied up for ten hours tended to leave even the kind hearted Naruto feeling bitter.
"TEN HOURS?!" Tsunade and Shizune both shouted, one in anger, the other in concern, as the genin gasped. Tsunade turned a heavy, magma freezing glare to the shaking jonin.
Yep, his ass was grass.
"They couldn't even leave me something to untie myself with, no they just left me here." Naruto grumbled getting close to untying the ropes.
For the first few hours Naruto had believed they would come back and untie him, that they simply forgot to. But when five hours had past Naruto realized they weren't coming back and he had to untie himself, hard to do when he couldn't reach his weapons or move his arms, leaving him to simply struggle against the ropes hoping they'd come loose.
Kurenai and Anko turned glare at Kakashi. They didn't need to ask if this actually happened. His expression said it all. Even Gai shook his head at his rival.
He had thought after his teammates had offered him their food that maybe, just maybe, they could have been friends, or at least a working a team.
'That's what I get for getting my hopes up.' Thought Naruto bitterly before with a final tug he managed to loosen the ropes enough to reach his kunai pouch and cut through the ropes.
Rather than going back to his apartment Naruto decided to go for a walk, besides who'd be there waiting for him.
'Oh right no one.' Naruto thought looking down.
Naruto frowned, hating the reminder that he never had anyone waiting for him home.
After a while of walking Naruto stopped and looked up in surprise when he saw he was standing in front of a ruined shrine, what surprised him though was the swirl above the entrance, the same one that's on the back of his jacket.
Pulling away from glaring at Kakashi, Tsunade at the shrine in shoke. 'The Uzumaki Forbidden Shrine?! Why again?!' She didn't like how that place kept showing up. It was forbidden for a reason! Not to mention a SECRET!
Kiba blinked at the shrine. "Hey, isn't that the place where Anna and the other Naruto got a mask from?" He asked, confused on why there were seeing it for the second time.
"The Uzumaki Mask Storage Temple." Naruto muttered, recalling what Anna called it, all the more curious to learn about his family. His Clan.
"Wh-what?" Said Naruto confused why would the symbol on his jacket be on this building
Deciding to investigate Naruto slowly walked into the shrine, careful where he stepped not knowing how damaged this place was. Reaching a large set of wooden doors Naruto pushed them open finding himself looking at a wall of different masks with ornate black flames painted below them.
Naruto wasn't sure what it was, but he felt a cold chill run up his spine, sensing a darkness resonating from the masks, or at least one of them.
For the second time, Naruto heard the almighty Kyuubi...whimper at the sight of the masks. Seriously, what was the deal with those things?
Whatever it was Naruto wanted to get away from it and quickly walked further into the temple away from the dark presence. Entering another room Naruto stopped when he saw another mask, this time resting on a stone altar with a few other objects around it. With the mask was a large double sided crescent shaped blade, a dagger flute with three holes in it, three small dark colored crystal balls with animal figurines within it, one of a wolf, another of a hammerhead shark, and the last was an alligator.
The mask itself was shaped like a wolf, but Naruto could still feel something off about it, not as bad as the dark feeling he got from the other masks, but close to it. Unsure of what else to do Naruto grabbed the mask looking it over not seeing anything wrong with it.
Akamaru whined as he crawled deeper into Kiba's jacket. The Inuzuka nodded. "I hear ya boy. That mask gives me the creeps."
'What's the worst that could happen.' Naruto thought putting the mask on his face.
'Should never had said that.' The adults all thought, knowing fate can be a bitch.
Next all Naruto knew was darkness.
'Told ya.'
*Next Morning*
"Where's Kakashi-sensei and that Baka!" Shouted Sakura in anger.
Sakura groaned, covering her face. Great. Just great. She never thought she could hate herself so much.
She and Sasuke had been waiting for three hours for their sensei and teammate, while Sakura didn't care if Naruto showed up or not as it gave her private time with her Sasuke-kun.
Sakura groaned louder. Thanks, narration. Thanks a lot.
Sasuke just didn't care.
"Yo!" Said Kakashi with a salute and eye smile.
"You're late!" Sakura screeched, which Kakashi promptly ignored frowning when he didn't see his third student
"Where's Naruto?" Questioned Kakashi.
"Who care's where that Baka is." Sakura said, Sasuke not saying anything.
"Now, now Sakura that's no way to talk about your teammate." Kakashi chastised.
"Funny, considering you had no problem leaving me tied up." A voice said getting all their attention.
Everyone looked at the source of the voice, and blinked at what they saw. Interestingly enough, Ino, Tenten, and Haku gained blushes on their cheeks, Anko liked her lips sesually, and Zabuza smirked. Kurenai rolled her eyes at her friend, though had a suspicious red tint on her cheeks.
They saw it was a teen with spiky jet-black hair, amber eyes with slit pupils, pale skin, wearing black steel-toed boots, black form-fitting pants, black fingerless gloves, a burnt orange shirt, and a black leather jacket zipped up with long coattails. Though what stood out the most were the jagged whisker marks, three on each cheek.
Needless to say, Ino, Tenten, Haku and Anko liked A-Naruto's "bad boy" look. They liked it a lot, with Ino making a mental note to take Naruto shopping for leather jackets someday. Maybe see about dying his hair black.
"Naruto." Said Kakashi shocked at his students.
"Who else." Naruto said.
"What's with the new look dobe, finally deciding to act serious." Sasuke taunted.
Naruto glared at Sasuke, before scoffing and looked away. "Theme."
"I don't know Sasuke, have you decided not be buried up to your neck anymore." Retorted Naruto, Sasuke scowling at the reminder.
"Naruto-baka stop trying to act cooler than Sasuke-kun!" Sakura shouted charging at Naruto preparing to hit him.
Never before, did Sakura want to punch herself in the face.
Naruto sidestepped the sloppy punch and Sakura stumbled to ground. Growling Sakura prepared to get up to hit Naruto again for getting her dress dirty, but before she could she screamed in pain when Naruto stomped his boot on her back and stabbed a large crescent blade into the ground dangerously close to her face.
Sakura flinched at the scene, shocked to see it, along with everyone else, though the adults frowned. While they can agree that A-Sakura tried to attack him - her own teammate - first, A-Naruto was taking it too far.
Leaning in close Sakura gulped when she saw Naruto's eyes glow dangerously, possessing none of the usual affection he has for her.
"Let me make this very clear for you pinkie, I'm not your punching bag anymore, you raise your fist against me again, be prepared to lose it. Remember that next time you try hitting me you stupid, worthless, sorry excuse for a kunoichi. But please try hitting me, see what happens." Naruto growled, Sakura shaking in fear.
Ino flinched, worried for her friend. While she admitted that A-Sakura kinda deserved it, she hoped A-Naruto wouldn't kill her. 'He really is a Dark Naruto, and not the hot bad boy kind.'
"Naruto that's enough get off your teammate." Ordered Kakashi.
"Stay out of this trash." Said Naruto.
"What did you just say?" Kakashi said narrowing his visible eye.
"You heard me I called you trash because that's what you are. You talk about how those who abandoned their friends or teammates are trash, well you all left me tied up yesterday with no way to untie myself, therefore you, the emo, and his fangirl are all trash." Said Naruto, Kakashi frowning and Sasuke glaring at him.
'Can't say I don't deserve that.' Kakashi thought, knowing that when he used "I", he meant both himself and his other.
"That doesn't matter, you'll let Sakura go and address me as sensei, Genin." Kakashi said pulling rank, making Naruto scoff but getting up.
"You know it's funny how you reprimand me for defending myself, but not Sakura for trying to punch me. Then again I guess that just proves you're like the rest trash-sensei." Said Naruto returning his blade to its storage seal
Que another flinch from Kakashi, knowing he deserved it, thinking back on all the times he saw Sakura hit Naruto, and did nothing to stop it.
Wow, maybe he was a terrible sensei...
"Okay team, today we'll be working on teamwork exercises and doing a couple D-rank missions. Let's go." Kakashi said choosing to ignore what Naruto said
While Sasuke and Sakura followed Kakashi, Naruto hung back creating a Shadow Clone.
"Go." Ordered Naruto, as the Shadow Clone followed the others while Naruto went the other way
Like hell he was doing other people's chores.
'Yeah, I'm definitely looking into these 'Missions'.' Tsunade thought with a frowning glare.
Meanwhile, back in the village, all the greedy and lazy civilians, shivered.
*Timeskip-a week*
A week has passed since Team Seven's formation and it could not have been any worse. Kakashi hasn't taught them anything useful besides teamwork exercises, which were useless considering Sasuke and Sakura hated Naruto, Naruto didn't care about his teammates, and Sakura only cheered Sasuke on and not bothering to train.
Kakashi once more felt Tsunade's glare.
Though Naruto was aware of Kakashi giving Sasuke private lessons, lowering his already poor opinion of the of the cyclops. Not that he cared what Hatake and the Uchiha did, considering Naruto had been sending a Shadow Clone to all team meetings, while Naruto himself had been focusing on his training. Which was improved greatly when he learned everything a Shadow Clone learns is transferred back to the original, allowing Naruto to get several months' worth of training done in only a few days.
"For the record, I would just like to state that I have never played favorites and gave Sasuke private training." Kakashi stated.
"The Chidori." Gai reminded.
Flinching, Kakashi coughed. "Ok, yes that. But that's it!" He tried to give his side.
Tsunade scoffed. "We shall see, Hatake."
He brushed up on his Taijutsu, began practicing Kenjutsu, and working to master his Elemental Affinities. It was simple for Naruto creating two thousand clones, having five hundred work on Taijutsu, another five hundred work on Kenjutsu, another five hundred reading up on everything he should have learned in the Academy and anything else useful, finally the last five hundred split between his affinities. While the real Naruto did physical exercises of ten laps around the village, two hundred pushups, sit ups, and pull ups, all while having gravity seals on his body and clothes.
'I REALLY need to try out that training method!' Naruto thought with an excited grin, while some of the genin mumbled at the unfairness at not being able to use the Shadow Clone Technique like Naruto..
Safe to say Naruto quickly rose to being the strongest in his age group and more than a few Chunin.
Currently the real Naruto stood with his "Team" in the Hokage's Office. The reason Naruto was here rather than a clone was because he learned Hatake planned to take them on a C-rank mission and Naruto wanted to test his skills.
Looking at the Hokage Naruto couldn't deny the satisfaction he felt when he saw the old man wince when his eyes fell on Naruto. It was understandable considering the conversation they had the morning after his transformation.
*Flashback*
"Naruto are you sure you want this as your new Ninja License picture?" Sarutobi asked hesitantly looking between Naruto and his new picture.
While he had wanted Naruto to retake his picture without the face paint he wasn't sure wearing a transformation was any better, not knowing this was Naruto's new appearance.
"Yes, I thought it best to start acting like a Shinobi rather than a child." Said Naruto blankly.
'I don't know if I should be offended or not.' Naruto thought with a sweatdrop.
"Very well, if that's all Naruto." Sarutobi said.
"Actually, there is one more thing I wanted to ask Hokage-sama." Naruto said, Hiruzen's head shooting up at that since Naruto's never referred to him as "Hokage-sama" before.
"What is it Naruto?" Questioned Hiruzen worriedly.
"Why didn't you ever tell me about the Uzumaki Clan?" Naruto said.
Immediately, Naruto frowned, looking at the scene, and at the A-Hiruzen. That's right, the old man knew about his parents, his clan, and never told him. What else did he keep from him?
Out of all the questions Sarutobi thought he'd ask, this was one of the ones he was hoping he wouldn't hear.
"What are you talking about Naruto, there is no Uzumaki Clan." Sarutobi said nervously, Naruto nodding and humming as if in agreement
"No Uzumaki Clan huh. So, the Shodaime Hokage didn't have a wife named Mito Uzumaki, Kumo, Iwa, and Kiri didn't work together to destroy a village called Uzushiogakure, and the swirls on the back of flak jackets are just for decoration. But like you said there's no Uzumaki Clan, just like you said you never said you didn't know why everyone hated me, oh wait." Said Naruto, while the Hokage grew paler with each accusation.
Tsunade glare, gritting her teeth. She was DEFINITELY getting to the bottom of that, on why the knowledge of the Uzumaki Clan was practically non-existent! Her grandmother was the wife of the First Hokage for Kami-sake!
While a Senju, Tsunade was also an Uzumaki by blood and heart, and swore to keep her distant clan alive and known!
"Naruto please let me explain-"
"Save your excuses Hokage-sama, I've heard enough of them. The only thing I want know is did you ever plan on telling me?" Naruto questioned.
"Of course! I planned to tell you when you were older and mature enough to handle the news." Said Sarutobi.
"Lies" A distant voice spoke inside Naruto's head, making him freeze. "He probably planned to keep us ignorant forever, an idiotic pet under Konoha's thumb." The voice said, before vanishing.
"And how old would I have to be when I was "mature" enough to handle it, huh? Twenty, thirty, or maybe when you were long dead, and I remained ignorant." Naruto retorted.
"I would have left instructions to my successors to inform you." Replied Hiruzen.
"And you really believe anyone in this village would have told me about the Kyuubi or my Clan. They'd be more likely to laugh behind my back at my ignorance, turned me into a mindless weapon, or finally kill the demon brat. I don't whether your delusional or just plain stupid." Said Naruto, Sarutobi frowning at the insult.
Tsunade nodded, knowing that if Danzo had taken the seat instead of her, he would have kept Naruto ignorant of his clan, possibly from fear of the "weapon" becoming too powerful to control.
"Naruto despite what you may think I have always had your best interests, and I am still your commanding officer." Sarutobi said.
"No, you've had this village's best interests, if you cared you would have told me a long time ago, but you didn't. Why, were you afraid that I might leave if I found out I had a clan, that you'd lose your precious Jinchuuriki, or maybe beneath all that kindness and grandfather persona you hate me just like everyone else in this village and you loved the fact that I was alone believing I was abandoned because no one would want a demon for a son." Said Naruto.
With each statement, Naruto flinched, doubt and theories appearing in his head. More and more, he was losing whatever lingering faith he had in the old man.
"How do I know you haven't kept other things from me, like who my parents are?" Naruto said with the Hokage flinching being all the confirmation he needed.
"That's what I thought. Let me make something very clear to you Hiruzen Sarutobi, we're not friends, we're not family, I want nothing to do with you anymore, the only time I will interact with you is to receive missions. Nothing more, nothing less." Said Naruto turning to leave.
"As it should be. We don't need anyone, especially from this village. If only you had thought like your Aite." The mysterious voice whispered in Naruto's ear.
"Naruto, I'm sorry." Sarutobi said, Naruto pausing in grabbing the door
Turning his head, the Hokage saw a single glowing yellow eye.
"Save it for someone who cares." Said Naruto exiting the office
*End Flashback*
The thought of that meeting still hurt the aged Hokage, not for the fact Naruto tore into him and all but said he hated him. But the fact the entire time Naruto never once faltered, not giving away any sign of what he was feeling, maintaining the perfect poker face. It would have been easier if Naruto had gotten angry, since Naruto was usually terrible at hiding his emotions, the Hokage would have been able to handle it better. Instead Naruto remained in control the entire time and verbally destroyed one of the strongest people alive.
"Team Seven here a for a C-rank mission Hokage-sama." Kakashi said reading his customary orange book, snapping the Hokage from his thoughts
All the genin groaned. Here comes another Wave Mission, they all thought.
Meanwhile, Shin withheld a smirk.
"Right, I have one for you. An escort mission to the Land of Ancestors. You can meet the client at the gate in an hour." Said the Hokage
"EEH?!"
"No Wave Mission?!" Kiba asked, eyes wide.
"Finally!" Ino cheered.
Kurenai hummed. "So a different mission. This could be interesting."
Asuma nodded. As long as they didn't have to repeat the Wave Mission, he was fine with anything.
Kakashi hummed. "Land of Ancestors, huh? I've never been there before."
"Alright team go get packed and meet at the gate in an hour." Said Kakashi
*Later*
Naruto walked towards the gate, having finished grabbing his scrolls which had all his supplies sealed up, and saw an old man standing with a small caravan of carts.
"We've got to learn how to use sealing scrolls." Choji said, drooling at the thought of sealing large amounts of food. Everyone nodded in agreement.
"Are you the client for the mission?" Said Naruto looking at the old man, who turned to see Naruto
"Yes, are you one of the Ninja that'll be protecting us on our trip to the Land of Ancestors?" The man asked
"I am, the rest of my team should be here soon." Replied Naruto
"So why are you heading to the Land of Ancestors?" Naruto asked wanting to get information on this mission
"Well I'm an archaeologist and I wish to explore some ruins there, I have already set up an excavation site but needed more workers and tools. You know it's even rumored that the Land of Ancestors was the birthplace of the Sage of Six Paths, just imagines what kind of artifacts could have been left behind." The man said, with Naruto raising a brow.
Everyone blinked. "Huh?"
"Wait, the Sage of Six Paths? Isn't he just a myth?" Ino asked. No one had an answer for her.
"And your hoping to see if the Sage left anything behind after his time. Well anything useful." Said Naruto, the man nodding
"Indeed, anything that might shed some light on the first God of Shinobi. By the way my name is Tenji." Introduced Tenji
"Naruto." Naruto replied
They the descended into silence until finally the rest of Team Seven arrived.
"Naruto-baka what're you doing?! Kakashi-sensei said to get packed!" Screeched Sakura. Naruto turning to her boredly.
"It's called a storage scroll. Useful little thing so one doesn't have to carry around heavy bags. I'd have thought the "smartest" genin kunoichi would know." Naruto mocked, wrinkling his nose in disgust.
He could smell all of the make-up and beauty products in her bag. How she became a kunoichi Naruto will never know.
"Really?" Sakura deadpanned at her other. Even she, when she was on her first true mission to Wave, NEVER was that bad of a ninja-in-training. SHE packed real equipment like weapons and supplies.
Seriously, was the whole universe against her?!
Sakura turned red in embarrassment and reared her fist back prepared to hit Naruto.
"Ma ma Naruto be nice to your teammates. Now that everyone's here let's go." Said Kakashi stopping Sakura.
Releasing a "Tsk" Naruto walked forward as the caravan began moving forward, all while sliding his flute dagger back up his sleeve, not that anyone noticed.
'I don't know whether to be glad, or disappointed that Naruto didn't kill other me...is it wrong to feel that way?' Sakura thought in confusion.
*Timeskip-Six Days-Land of Ancestors*
Six days have passed since Team Seven set out to the Land of Ancestors and haven't encountered any trouble, aside from the occasional bandit though they were easily dispatched. They were now in the Land of Ancestors, which didn't have much besides a few forests, rivers, grassy plains, hills, and some mountains in the distance.
Looking around, everyone had their own opinions, most in disappointment.
"This is the home of the "Father of Chakra"?" Kiba moan. "I expected more."
Shino pushed his shades up, looking at his teammate. "Like what? A castle?"
"Yes!"
It left Naruto a little underwhelmed that the Sage of Six Paths home country was too boring.
'Seriously you'd think there'd be something here.' Naruto thought in annoyance.
"Ah we've finally arrived!" Said Tenji, snapping Naruto from his thoughts.
Looking he saw they were at the excavation site, where several people were already hard at work digging through an unearthed village.
"Alright Team form a perimeter around the site and keep in radio contact." Ordered Kakashi, getting a nod and "Hn" from Sakura and Sasuke respectively while Naruto just walked away.
Naruto looked around the excavated village, a little surprised the buildings were still in relatively good condition. He soon arrived at a small compound with a large house and a few smaller buildings, all enclosed in a fenced area. He also found Tenji sorting through several old books and scrolls.
"Ah Naruto-san! Come here and look at these." Said Tenji spotting Naruto and waving him over.
Going over Naruto got a closer look at the scrolls, most looking to be about history.
"Look, if I'm right these could possible date back to before even the clan wars. Here look for yourself." Said Tenji excitedly handing Naruto one before he could say anything.
Sauna chuckled, sweatdroping. "Pretty excited, isn't he?"
"YOSH! Such passionate youth! Tenju is truly with his youth!" Gai shouted, making the others sigh at him.
Growling a little at the scroll being shoved in his hands like that Naruto looked it over. Most of the writing was illegible but he could still make out a few words.
'Asura… Indra… Hagoromo… Otsutsuki? Otsutsuki, maybe a clan.' Naruto wondered.
"Gah!"
"Hn!"
Looking at Naruto and Sasuke, everyone saw them holding their heads. "You guys okay?!" Sakura asked in concern for her teammates.
"Yeah...just a sudden headache." Naruto moaned, rubbing his head. Moving to his side, Haku helped, rubbing alongside him, much to his gratitude.
"It's probably nothing." Sasuke said, pushing past the light throbbing.
Unknown to them, Shin smirked mysteriously.
"So, Tenji you mind telling me what you left out of the mission request?" Asked Naruto skimming through the scroll while noticing Tenji flinch a little.
"I-I don't know what you mean." Tenji said, Naruto hearing his heartbeat pick up a little showing he was lying.
"My teammates might not be very observant Tenji, but I am. The entire time we were travelling you were tense, jumping at every noise, and always looking around as if expecting someone to jump out. So. Tell me. What. You. Left. Out." Naruto repeated, Tenji sighing in acceptance.
Kakashi sighed, shaking his head. Just like with Tazuna. He hated it when clients lied or left out mission details, makes things annoying. Hopefully their counterparts won't run into high rank missing ninja.
"Well you see while my profession might not be the most dangerous, it sometimes attracts the wrong attention whenever I discover some artifact that others may consider useful to themselves. Well when word got out that I was planning an excavation to what might be the homeland of the Sage of Six Paths, let's just say some less than savory characters wanted to join for their own benefit." Tenji explained.
"Missing-nin." Guessed Naruto.
"Yes. They offered "protection" for me and my workers in exchange for anything of value we might find. I rejected the offer, but they didn't take kindly to that before leaving. So, while I did go to Konoha for more workers and supplies, I also wished to hire a team of ninja in case those missing-nin showed. I didn't mention this as I wasn't sure if the Hokage would still accept the mission or not." Said Tenji, Naruto nodding.
"Understandable, considering a Kage always puts their village first and damning everyone else." Naruto said
Asuma wanted to argue, to save his father some face, but knew what A-Naruto said was true. Kages, any leader really, had to look after their home and land more than outside lands. It was how things were. It was neither right or wrong.
Though he could understand A-Naruto's feeling a bit, having once believed that his father cared more about the village than he did his own family.
"I'm guessing you don't really like the Hokage, may I ask why?" Asked Tenji.
"I was told one to many lies." Replied Naruto shortly.
"So, any idea where these missing-nin are from?" Naruto asked.
"I don't. They wore headbands much like the ones you and your team wear, if memory serves the plates depicted four lines evenly spaced apart." Said Tenji.
Naruto searched through his memories to figure out which village it could be, realizing that it was Amegakure.
'Strange, if I recall Ame doesn't have any Missing-nin. It's likely they were sent on a mission by their leader to retrieve any artifacts they might find, under the guise of Missing-Nin.' Naruto surmised as a breezed brushed against his face and he inhaled deeply
Looking to the side his eyes glowed and he saw the four figures hiding through the trees.
The jonin and Sannin were intrigued by A-Naruto's ability. A sensor? Such people were rare, very sought out for military and confrontal advantage.
'Idiots.' Thought Naruto, he'll handle them later.
"So, anything you can tell me about the Land of Ancestors? Any interesting sights?" Asked Naruto.
"Hm, not much really, no one stays long enough to settle. As for sights well the only one I can really think of would be the Peaks of Demise. Over there, see them?" Tenji said pointing to the south where Naruto saw a large grouping of mountains.
'Something over there, it's powerful.' Naruto thought knowing he'll go there when the time presents itself.
*Later*
Naruto stared up at the full moon, admiring its beauty, all while still keeping his senses sharp for the Ame Ninja lurking in the shadows. While he could have easily snuck off and dealt with them earlier, he waited to see what they'd do. The fact that they hadn't just charged out means at least one of them was smart enough to not recklessly engage an unknown enemy, even if three of them were children.
'Doesn't matter. The results will be the same.' Thought Naruto knowing before the night is done they'll all be dead.
"Guess this Naruto's not afraid of a little blood." Tsunade said, a bit worried, not wanting to see Naruto - any Naruto - senselessly killing.
Standing up Naruto saw that everyone had gone to sleep, and he knew now was the time to act. Pulling out his flute dagger Naruto held it up to his mouth and began playing a haunting melody.
The soft melodic tune of the flute echoed through the chamber, putting everyone in an incaptivating illusion, listening to the almost sad sound. However, the lure was not enough to blind them to what comes next.
*With Ame Ninja*
Hidden in the trees were four Ame Ninja, three Genin and one Jonin, having been sent on this mission by their leader Pein to retrieve any artifacts left behind by the Sage of Six Paths. The leader of the team was Aoi Rokusho, a missing-nin from Konoha and the one responsible for stealing the Nidaime Hokage's Raijin no Ken.
Tsunade growled. She was angry that her granduncle's creation was stolen by a sorry excuse of a former Konoha jonin. She swore, if she ever got her hands on that bastard, she'll make him pay dearly.
Aoi thought the mission would have been easy: threaten the leader of the expedition into handing over all the artifacts they find, kill any witnesses, then get back to Ame. Now, however, things became complicated with Kakashi Hatake here. While Aoi was confident he could handle him with the Raijin no Ken he couldn't risk the chance of Hatake sending a message back to Konoha for back up, complicating the mission.
Kakashi scoffed lightly at Aoi's arrogance. He remembered him during his service as a Konoha nin. Aoi wasn't anything special. He was average at best, while he was an ANBU captain. Not to sound arrogant, but...the math fits. Just because he had a powerful sword, didn't mean he suddenly took a leap in power.
Suddenly Aoi was pulled from his thoughts when he heard something along with a fog appearing out of nowhere. The sound increased in volume and Aoi thought it sounded like…
'Flute music?' Thought Aoi confused of where the music was coming from.
Zabuza hummed, crossing his arms with a raised brow. This reminded him of his Silent Killing style. He was slightly impressed so far. Now to see if the kid could actually pull it off.
Just then they heard a strangled cry from Kagari and turned immediately to see him, but the three were shocked to see a deep slash going across his chest before he fell over dead.
"Defensive formation!" Ordered Aoi as he and the remaining two Genin stood back to back looking around for who could have attacked them.
Suddenly Mubi was thrown away and Aoi could only see a black blur before Mubi was bisected.
"Wh-who's there?!" Oboro shouted in fear backing away when a large curved black blade emerged from his chest.
When the sword was pulled out Aoi finally got a look at what had attacked his team and he wished he hadn't.
The demon, as that's the only thing Aoi could think it was, had the appearance of a wolf garbed in night black armor, with a yellow gem in the middle of its belt, long grey hair coming out of the back of its head, and wielding a large crescent blade resting on its shoulder.
The genin looked a bit green from the deaths, but managed to push back the urge to vomit, slowly becoming used to deaths (if just a little). Didn't mean they liked it.
Seeing the man's appearance, they unconsciously took a step back, fear growing in them from the dark and deadly appearance. Akamaru could no longer stand it, and...released himself in Kiba's jacket, getting a yelp from the young man.
All in all, Aoi had never seen anything like this before and wished he hadn't.
"Wh-what are you, what in the hell are you!" Aoi shouted backing away.
"I am the Duke Wolf, Zen-Aku! And I am your death." Said Zen-Aku pointing his blade at Aoi.
"St-stay back!" Said Aoi pulling out the Raijin and activating it feeling more confident with the blade.
"You think that toy will stop me?" Zen-Aku said walking towards Aoi.
"Ha! You can't beat me, with the Raijin I'm invincible!" Shouted Aoi assured of his success against this beast.
"Very well, let's see how the Raijin no Ken, stands against a blade of wind." Said Zen-Aku channeling chakra through his blade and began spinning it around.
"Wind Style: Crescent Blade Crescent Wave!" Zen-Aku shouted launching several blades of wind at Aoi.
Aoi, confident in his sword's power, slashed at the blades of wind. Though he was shocked when the wind blades passed through the Raijin and slashed into body. Aoi had only a second to register the attack before blood exploded out of the slash wounds.
"H-how?" Aoi muttered in shock.
This didn't make sense, how could he have been beaten, with the Raijin he was invincible.
Tsunade shook her head at the idiot. Just because he had a legendary weapon, didn't mean he was unbeatable. People with thoughts like that learned their lessons the hard way, never able to make it up ever again.
"You were so assured of that swords power you forgot the fact, wind beats lightning, and the fact is, just because you have a powerful weapon doesn't make you strong. It just made you weak." Zen-Aku said picking up the deactivated Raijin, while Aoi was still in shock.
"Don't worry I'll make sure to find a worthy wielder of this blade. You can die with that knowledge." Said Zen-Aku, as Aoi finally bled out.
Storing away the Raijin and his own blade in a storage seal, Zen-Aku pulled out his flute dagger and began playing, vanishing in a swirl of wind to his next destination.
*Peaks of Demise*
Reappearing, Zen-Aku put away the instrument and looked around finding himself in a large valley surrounded by mountains. Though what truly held his attention was the truly massive tree stump with large twisted dragon shaped roots surrounding it in the very center of the valley.
The genin looked at the area in awe, wondering what made the roots. The adults wondered about the massive stump, and the no doubt MASSIVE tree it must have been from. Not even Hashirama could grow trees big enough to be as massive as the stump!
Shin frowned at the stump of the Shinju Tree, knowing that it was no doubt still lingering in the world, as well as branches spread out in pieces. He wondered if he should do something about that, knowing that even served, the pieces had lingering amounts of Shinju energy in them.
He shook his head, deciding that he couldn't fix all of the Elemental Nation's problems.
"What is this? What could have possible grown to be this large?" Zen-Aku wondered out loud preparing to approach the stump.
Though before he could take a single step he fell to one knee holding his head in pain.
"No… not… now." Groaned Zen-Aku as his body began changing becoming more human.
When the change finished in Zen-Aku's place was Naruto Uzumaki panting from exhaustion.
Everyone blinked. "What the?" someone said.
"That was...strange." Shizune muttered, getting nods in agreement, surprised by the strange transformation, seeing Zen-Aku glowing in a purple light, before it faded to reveal Naruto. They had a feeling Zen-Aku was Naruto, but thought it was just him wearing a mask, not taking on a transformation.
'Damn it, even after training as Zen-Aku for weeks I still can't stay in that form for long.' Naruto thought
He had also been training as Zen-Aku, trying to extend the time he could remain as the Duke Wolf, so far, he could remain in that form for ten minutes. But Naruto was trying to make so he could stay as Zen-Aku for as long as possible, along with shortening the time it took to transform.
'Problems for later, for now I need to focus on… whatever the hell this is.' Naruto thought turning his attention back to the large stump.
Approaching it Naruto couldn't help but marvel at the sheer size of it, making him wonder just how large the tree that used to grow from it was. Though the closer Naruto got to it he couldn't deny the dread creeping up on him, being this close to it, he could feel the chakra it was radiating, as if the entire tree was made of chakra.
'What are you?' Wondered Naruto reaching out a hand and touching one of the roots.
That had been a mistake as his mind was assaulted by several different visions, of a white-haired woman eating a fruit, a red eye with three concentric rings and nine tomoes, two men fighting the woman, a man with purple eyes giving people chakra, and finally a monstrous creature with ten giant tails unleashing an earth-shattering roar. Before it ended Naruto heard a voice echo in his mind.
"Absorb me. The God Tree… the Ten-Tails. Absorb everything."
"The hell?"
Naruto pulled his hand back gasping at what he just saw and heard.
'What the hell?' Naruto thought looking at the tree in shock.
His shock only increased when a pathway opened up through the roots, hesitant to go down an unknown path, though considering the last time he went into a unknown location he got Zen-Aku, so maybe he'll get something useful here as well.
'Though just to be safe…' Thought Naruto, unsealing his crescent blade.
Walking down the path the roots Naruto kept his senses sharp for any movement. Eventually he came to an open area, in what Naruto could guess was directly under the stump given all the roots going in and out the walls.
In the center of the room was a pedestal with a large scroll, one Naruto recognized as a summoning scroll.
Now everyone was even more shocked, especially Jiraiya, as that would mean that that Naruto might not sign the Toad Summoning Contract.
"What's this doing here?" Naruto wondered sealing his blade now that he sees there's no immediate threat.
Going over to the scroll Naruto lifted it up to see what contract it could be, finding the kanji for the animal summons on the front.
"Direwolves." Said Naruto a little surprised having never heard of a Direwolf Contract
"..."
Yeah, talk about speechless.
Then again, the only summons ever mentioned in the Konoha Library are the Snake, Toad, Slug, Dog, and Monkey contracts, which Naruto found a little arrogant as if they ignored the fact there were other summoning contracts.
Though Naruto had to decide if he wanted to sign it, considering he already had his Wildzords.
'Then again it would be useful to have summons to fall back.' Naruto thought.
Also, the fact he couldn't think of a better summons for the Duke Wolf to use.
'I should probably get back now.' Thought Naruto sealing the scroll away.
No need to let his "team" find out.
The area faded out asa Shin looked at the group, chuckling at their frozen expressions. "Well, I think everyone can agree on continuing." He said, waiting for the group to snap out of it.
