Chapter 35.

DPOV

Slamming my hands against the desk, I made the people standing around me flinch and in the corner of my eye, I could see a couple people take a few steps back. I was pissed.

Another week had passed since the last package had arrived and had stressed me out. Taking a deep breath I looked up and I could only imagine how my face looked to everyone. " I want every security camera reviewed RIGHT. NOW." I pointed to three people and without hesitation they ran off nodding towards me.

I looked at the next couple of people, one whom was one of my secretaries. "Please call our security company and have them station someone outside of my home. I need to have eyes on my wife." Emma? I think that was her name, scurried out to do as I asked.

Sitting back down I ran my hands through my hair.

"Hey man, don't worry about anything. We'll figure this out." I looked up into the sincere smile of one of my long time buddies.

"Thanks Adrian, but I don't know. I have had a lot of threats against the company and myself, but look at this photo." I picked up one of the many and closed my eyes feeling him take it from my hand.

"That picture, is showing Rose sitting in our back yard. Very close to her. This one, " I picked another up laying it down in front of him. "This is from yesterday when she was laying on the couch sleeping, you know how I know that?" Adrian just stared at me. "Because I came home to her sleeping on the couch like this."

I slammed my hand against the top of the desk again. Whoever this person was, was very fucking close to Rose and that made me uneasy.

"I don't know what to say man, other than maybe this will cheer you up slightly." Suddenly a stack of white papers was slid in front of me. I looked up. I didn't feel as though my mouth could close.

"Did you…?"

"I did." He smiled.

"When you came to me Dimitri, I knew something was off I mean I haven't talked to you for a few years other than the occasional business offers. But I think that I waited until the right offer don't you think?" He walked around my office and stopped at my liquor cabinet, pouring himself a glass of whiskey.

"Also, when I ran into your beautiful wife, literally, I couldn't help but want to be stationed here." He took a drink from his glass and a low growl, involuntarily came from my throat. He was always a flirt, but could he not just stop when it was about Rose.

He chuckled. "Calm down you stupid Russian. Quite obviously she is in love with you. She spoke highly of you and didn't take any of my flirtatiousness other than that of flattery. How could you think that we had anything going on? I like being her friend too, which reminds me, she and I are going for coffee again tomorrow." He grinned and finished off his drink.

My eyes had narrowed, but then softened a bit when I realised what he was saying I leaned back in my chair. "I really appreciate you doing this Adrian, and knowing that you own half my company puts me at ease, to know if something are to happen to me pretty much than you will control over Belikov Corp. And to know that you are with Rose makes me feel more at ease. I know she is always with Vasilissa, err.. Lissa. But what is she going to do against a threat."

Adrian smiled and sat down in the chair putting the evidence back into the box. "Well now that this is settled why don't we go out for some drinks and celebrate this union between our companies." I smiled a bit and stood taking my coat from my chair, and coming around the desk. Pausing briefly my eyebrows came together.

"By the way, what do you mean you ran into my wife, literally?" He just rubbed the back of his neck and gave a nervous laugh walking from my office.

" HEY, IVASHKOV?"

RPOV.

"UGH, WHY IS EVERYONE BUSY." I chucked my phone onto the bed and flopped into the chair sitting in the corner of the bedroom.

Lissa was out with her boyfriend and Dimitri had just texted me saying Adrian and him were going out to celebrate their partnership. He had given the proposal to Adrian a few days ago and it had taken a bit for him to answer Dimitri.

I needed more friends. Or this baby could come now so I didn't feel so lonely.

The baby. I hoped it was a girl. I had a feeling, it wouldn't shake that this baby was a girl. It brought a smile to my face thinking about it, and to the conversation I had with Dimitri a little bit back.

Flashback

We were lying in bed watching an older movie when Dimitri rolled over nuzzling my neck and rubbed my abdomen.

"I think it's a girl." I blurted out, placing my hand over his. I could feel his grin on my neck.

"What makes you think that?" He asked turning his head to look up at me.

I shrugged as best as I could in that position. " I don't know. I can just feel it. I think it's a girl though."

"When can we find out the gender? I asked rubbing circles again.

"I was thinking maybe we could keep it a surprise? Do a gender neutral room up and when the baby comes we can find out. I think that would be fun . Don't you?"

"You really don't want to know for the next eight months Milaya?" I laughed.

"You want to know really bad don't you." He nodded.

"I think we should keep it a secret. How about a bet." He scoffed. " I am not going to bet with my WIFE over the gender of my child." I huffed.

"And why not? Whats the difference between me and your friends?" He raised his eyebrow.

"What are you betting?"

"If I lose, I'll take cooking lessons. For a month? And if you lose, you get to change dirty diapers for a month." Previously he had told me his hate for baby poo. When his sisters children were babies he didn't go near them.

A hearty laugh left him. "Two months cooking lessons, and you have a bet." We both laughed and shook hands as best as we could.

End flashback.

Smiling to myself I found myself once again standing in front of the mirror. IT was like I was expecting my stomach to bulge out any moment but of course It wasn't going to. How many weeks was I now? Oh yes, two months. The weeks were flying. Im pretty sure the doctor said I wouldn't show until around three months anyway. And with my bodies build it could take a little bit longer.

Putting on an old pair of sweat pants and a t-shirt, I tied my hair up and decided maybe I would do some pastel artwork.

I wasn't allowed to paint unless it was with odourless paints. Which didn't really work in my favour but maybe I could do the baby's room with vegan paint when we had cleared out the room.

I also wasn't going to start the process until I hit my second trimester. We had been given the work scenarios that could happen and as much as I didn't want to think about it was a possibility.

Going to the living area, I carefully pushed the glass table to the other side of the room and laid my canvas down and took out the pastel. I couldn't figure out what to do when a bang brought me out of my thoughts.

Looking around I kept my body still, letting my ears do all the work.

Again, a crash happened startling me to grab my phone in my hands. Standing up I stared out our bay window in the living room, looking into the dusk of the evening. Squinting, I could see something, no someone, moving and they were moving forward until I could see a hooded figure standing there staring my way. And he wasn't stopping. I couldn't move, I was frozen. The person walked closer and closer until they were a meter away from the window. I could444 see them clear as day, except their face.

"What the fuck!?" I cried, racing out of the living room and barrelling up the stairs. Shutting the bedroom door, locking it and running into our bathroom, locking that door too. Sliding against the door I shakily looked at my phone and dialed Dimitri's number, putting it to my ear I let it ring, anticipating and needing to hear his voice.

But all it did was ring and his voicemail. Three times.

Sighing, I ran my hands over my face sitting there, almost laughing at myself at how silly I was being. It was probably just some kid playing a prank is all. Until the front door banged open.

Holding my breath, I got up and sat in the tub, closing the curtain holding my phone to my side. I should be dialing 911 but I couldn't bring myself to talk.

My breath was released though when I heard the most beautiful thing in the world.

"Roza?!" Dimitri.

Climbing out of the tub, and unlocking the bathroom door, I hurried to the bedroom door and unlocked that one too.

Swinging the door open, I embraced the warm, strong body in front of me for dear life.

"Roza, what the hell. Why did you lock the bedroom door, " I could feel him look past me.

" Did you lock yourself into the bathroom too Milaya?! Whats wrong, what happened? I saw all your art supplies downstairs and the missed calls." All I could do was shake my head and hug him tighter.

" Its okay Rose. Im here, I'll always be here." He wrapped his arms around me, leading me to the bed to sit down he pulled me onto his lap in a comforting way.

In the back of my mind I didn't doubt he would always be there, but something about this prank kept nagging at me to the point that I didn't think it was a prank.
