She knew it would only be for a few days, but Olivia wanted to be as prepared as possible, especially with an infant, so she had spent nearly all morning packing diapers, clothes, and food for Charlie. Just like he had promised, Elliot had sent the twins to Kathy's that morning, wanting them to be safe if this creep decided to come after him and Olivia.
"That should do it," Olivia said to herself, zipping up the bag and moving it onto the table. She was about to walk over to where Charlie laid sleeping in her play pen, when her phone began to ring. She quickly pulled her phone out of her back pocket, smiling when she saw Elliot's name flashing across her screen. "Hi," she answered, grabbing the diaper bag from the table.
"Hey. How are you? How's the baby?" he asked nervously.
Olivia walked into the living room, stopping to look down at Charlie, who continued to sleep soundly. "We're fine El," she replied, placing the diaper bag on the floor near a duffle bag containing clothes for her and Elliot.
"Good. You have everything ready?"
Olivia nodded, even though she knew Elliot wouldn't be able to see her. "Yeah, I think so."
Elliot breathed a sigh of relief. He hated that he was having to uproot his life, and he knew Olivia wanted nothing more than for things to get back to normal, but he wasn't going to risk her safety or the safety of their child. "Fin should be there soon to pick you and the baby up. I'll meet you up later tonight."
"Alright," she replied. She turned her head when there was a knock on the door. "I think Fin's here now," she said, walking to the door.
"Okay. I'll talk to you soon. I love you."
"Love you too El," she said, before hanging up the phone and shoving it into her back pocket. She quickly opened up the door, surprised by who she saw on the other end. "Porter? What are you doing here?"
Porter looked up at Olivia and smiled. "Your buddy Fin had a new case and was busy questioning a victim at Mercy, so Cragen sent me to pick you two up." He walked into the house, quickly shutting the door behind him. "You nearly ready to go?"
Olivia nodded. "Yeah, I just have a few more things to grab."
Cragen looked through the multiple files on his desk, letting out a huge sigh. He was frustrated, he was tired, but most of all, he was anxious. He wanted to catch the son of a bitch who had hurt one of his best detectives, but so far they weren't getting anywhere.
"What am I missing?" he asked himself, as he flipped through another file. He needed to get to the bottom of it, but with no new leads, he couldn't do anything.
He grabbed the last file from his pile, and opened the folder. He silently read over the first page while his hand gently rubbed his bald head. He turned to the next page and let out another sigh. He finally flipped to the last page in the folder. He was nearly ready to quit for the day, when he noticed a post it note on the bottom of the page. "What the hell," he whispered, as he pulled the note off the paper and held it up to read. When he was done, he gasped. This was the missing piece of evidence he needed to solve this mystery, and if this meant what he think it meant, no one was safe.
Elliot walked into the squadroom, finishing the last of his lunch. He wanted to get this day over with so he could meet up with Olivia and the baby, but he knew there was a mountain of paperwork waiting on his desk that needed to be finished first.
He walked over to his desk, took a seat, and let out a groan, before opening one of the files on his desk. The sooner he finished, the sooner he saw Olivia. He began to work on his paperwork when two people caught his eye.
"What are you doing here?" Elliot asked, watching as Fin walked over to his desk.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Fin asked. "I thought you were taking Olivia?"
Elliot shook his head. "You were supposed to take her."
Fin shook his head and pulled out his phone. "You text me saying not to pick Olivia up," he said, showing Elliot his phone's screen.
Elliot took Fin's phone in his hand, looking at the text. I'm just going to drive Olivia. We're good to go. He handed the phone back to Fin and raised an eyebrow. Something didn't seem right.
At that moment Captain Cragen walked out of his office, wide eyed when he noticed both Fin and Elliot there. "Where's Olivia?" he asked, walking up to Elliot's desk.
Elliot rose from his chair, completely convinced something was wrong. "She's at the house. What's wrong Cap?"
Cragen grabbed Elliot's car keys and rushed out of the squad room. "She's in trouble."
Porter looked over at Olivia, who was sitting quietly in the passenger seat. Every so often she would turn and look back at Charlie, who was perfectly content playing with a stuffed bear, occasionally putting the poor bear's ear in her mouth and soaking it with saliva.
"So can I ask you something?" Porter asked, watching as Olivia tried to reach the phone she had left on the backseat.
"Sure," Olivia said, giving up on getting the phone. Elliot was just going to have to wait for her to call him back.
He turned to face the road, a little embarrassed with his question. "Why do you think we never worked out?"
Olivia looked over at the FBI agent and raised an eyebrow. "I guess we were just too different," she answered, hoping he would accept the answer. The truth was she had been in love with her partner and couldn't imagine any other man in her life.
Porter nodded, before returning his focus to his driving. He quickly turned into a driveway. "We're here," he announced. He quickly parked the car and turned it off, before getting out of the driver's seat.
"Perfect timing," Olivia said, watching as Charlie began to cry, a clear sign she was getting hungry.
"You go on ahead," Porter said, nodding to the baby. "I'll bring everything in."
Olivia nodded. She quickly got Charlie out of the car seat and walked into the house, forgetting all about her phone ringing on the backseat.
Cragen pulled up to Elliot's driveway, barely putting the car in park before Elliot jumped out of the passenger seat and ran to his front door. When he saw the door was cracked open, he drew his gun, unsure of what he was going to find on the other side. He looked over at Fin and Cragen, who were both walking to the front door, guns drawn, before entering the house.
At first he saw nothing out of the ordinary. All of the furniture was upright, his tv and laptop were still there, and there was a few dollar bills on top of the entertainment center that he had left last night. This wasn't a robbery, but something was still wrong. He re holstered his gun, turning to Fin and Cragen when they walked into the living room. "She's gone. Both of them," he said, taking his phone from his pocket. He began to dial Olivia's number when he heard shuffling from upstairs. Whoever had broke into the house was still there.
Elliot quickly shoved his phone into his pocket and rushed upstairs, not bothering to stay quiet. When he was upstairs, he rushed into his room, stopping when he saw a man standing near his and Olivia's closet. "You son of a bitch," Elliot said, watching as the man turned to face him.
McKinley stared at the detective. He opened his mouth to speak, however before he got a word out, Elliot walked across the room and punched the FBI agent in the face. "Where is she?" he asked, grabbing McKinley's shirt and pulling him closer.
"Get the hell off me," McKinley said, pushing Elliot away from him. When Elliot let go of McKinley's shirt, he punched the detective in the face, hoping he got the hint.
Elliot took a step back, angry. He tackled McKinley to the floor and shoved his face into the floor. "What did you do?"
Cragen and Fin rushed into the room and spotted the two men fighting on the floor. "Elliot, stop!" Cragen said, rushing over to the two. With the help of Fin, Cragen pulled Elliot off of McKinley. "He's not the man we're after," he said, holding his detective back.
Elliot glared at McKinley, watching as he stood and wiped blood from his lower lip. "What the hell do you mean he's not?" Elliot asked. "He's in my house. He showed up the day after Olivia's attack and he was there every time a note showed up."
Cragen shook his head. "Yes, but he wasn't the only one." He watched as realization hit Elliot. "Where is your partner?" Cragen asked McKinley.
McKinley replied with a shrug. "He wasn't answering my calls, so I knew he was going to do something stupid."
Elliot let out a frustrated sigh. "I'm going to kill that mother fucker!" He grabbed his phone out of his pocket and dialed Olivia's number, praying she would answer this time.
Olivia had just put Charlie down for a small nap when she heard her phone ring from the kitchen. She walked out of the bedroom, shaking her head. Elliot was being extremely paranoid about this whole thing, and if he was going to continue to call her every two minutes she was just going to shut her phone off.
She walked up to the breakfast bar and picked up her phone. "Hello Elliot," she answered.
"Olivia, thank god. Where are you?"
Olivia raised an eyebrow. He sounded a lot more worried than usual. "I'm at the house," she answered. "Is everything okay?" Maybe they were in the middle of another case and he was calling to tell her he wouldn't be there tonight.
"Where's Porter?"
Olivia looked around the room. "He's around. Elliot what's going on?" She was starting to get worried now, and if he didn't tell her what was up, she was going to be anxious for the rest of the day.
"Olivia leave now! It's Porter. He's the guy."
Olivia's eyes widened. Porter was the man who had raped her. She opened her mouth to speak when someone came up behind her and placed a rag on top of her mouth. Olivia struggled to get Porter to release his grip on her, but he was too strong. She tried her best not to breath in what she knew was chloroform, but the need for air was getting to her, especially with how hard she was struggling. It wasn't long before the drug got to her. After a minute of struggling Olivia dropped the phone and blacked out, falling heavily into Porter's arms.
Elliot, who had heard the entire struggle, gripped his phone tightly. Porter knew they knew everything, which meant Olivia's life was really at risk. He quickly hung up the phone and turned to Cragen. "He's going to kill her," he said, before rushing out of the room, down the stairs, and out of the house.
Dun Dun! It was Porter all along. Props to those who called it. I tried to make it not obvious, but I don't know how well I succeeded. Anyway, please read and review! Also, I'm sorry if my writing seems choppy once again.
Coming Up:
We will learn about what happened the night Olivia was raped, and why McKinley was partnered with Porter.
