"Wow, Rebekah and Stefan really outdid themselves," Katherine replied as she and Elijah entered the reception the evening of Rebekah and Stefan's wedding. Katherine had chosen to wear a long, dark purple evening gown with her dark hair in a messy bun with a few loose curls. Elijah was wearing a traditional tux at her side.
The evening of Stefan and Rebekah's wedding had arrived, since neither one of them were particularly religious they had, had a small civil ceremony followed by the reception in the same venue so that the guests only had to cross hallways for the celebration.
There were roughly over 100 people at the wedding, mostly friends and family and coworkers. Katherine could see Caroline talking a few feet away and Katherine still felt a little bit guilty about the events of the family dinner a few months ago though Klaus had gotten over it.
Eloise had politely decline the invitation, but Esther and Mikael had arrived at their daughter's wedding, they had exached a brief hello, but they mostly kept to themselves.
Stefan and Rebekah were eagerly greeting their guests practically beaming from happiness, Rebekah's wedding gown was simple, but she had made it elegant with many beautiful accessories and the wedding band that Stefan had given her, shine on her finger.
"Well, did you really expect anything else from my sister?" Elijah asked with a raised eyebrow. There were dozens of tables in the outside reception with beautiful flowered headpieces and brightly lit mini candles. "Even though they only got engaged a few weeks ago she has been planning her dream wedding since she was five."
"Sadly, I believe you." Katherine's smile faded when she saw Hayley sipping champagne and making small talk with Elijah's parents. She was wearing the same dark green dress that Katherine had been hoping to buy before she got rudely interrupted by Mason. Grr. "What is she doing here? Wait, you knew, why didn't you tell me?"
Elijah tried to take off the guilty look from his face. "Kind off. My parents sort of invited her themselves, something about Hayley going to the same tennis camp as Rebekah one summer as if that matters. Anyway, Rebekah didn't know until this morning, she threw a tantrum, but Stefan convinced her it would be rude to uninvited her."
"I would have," she snorted as she crossed her arms over her chest. "I still wished you would have told me and she's wearing my dress." She snapped childishly.
"I didn't tell you because I knew you would react like this and who cares." Elijah wrapped his hands around her waist. "Besides you look beautiful is that dress, Miss Pierce. You would look even more beautiful if you smiled instead of trying to rip Hayley's eyeballs out."
"You're not funny." She said, but a smile twitched on her lips. "But you better not dance with anyone else tonight other than me, Rebekah, or your mother."
Elijah kissed her as he murmured in her ear. "You're possessive with me. . . I like it."
Later that evening Katherine headed towards the dessert table and picked up a small, strawberry cake when Hayley walked towards her. She raised an eyebrow. "Nice dress."
Katherine forced a smile. Even hearing Hayley open her mouth pissed her off. "Thanks. Your dress is pretty too, hardly anyone looks good in that dress."
Hayley put her arms on her waist. "Yeah, I knew it was perfect for me the minute I tried it on in the store." She looked over her shoulder. "Hey, you wouldn't mind if Elijah and I dance, you know for old time's sakes."
Katherine put down her piece of cake and faced Hayley. "Yes, I do mind actually."
"What's the big deal? You're not one of those paranoid, insecure chicks are you?"
"No, I just rather you not get your claws in my boyfriend's pants." Katherine replied. "I kind of know how you chicks operate."
Hayley chuckled and shook her head. "Man, Elijah really moved down a peg when he started dating you, I wonder if he knows he's dating an insecure, jealous bitch."
Katherine felt her temper boiling over. "Hayley, you really don't want to deal with me."
"Or what?" Hayley narrowed her eyes.
Katherine picked up the cake that she had been about to eat and jabbed it in Hayley's face so that her face was covered in frosting. "Opps."
"You little bitch!" Hayley shrieked as she threw Katherine on the floor and started pulling her hair. Katherine digged her nails on Hayley's face, pressing them against her face as hard as she could causing Hayley to scream. Hayley jabbed her knee in Katherine's stomach. Katherine slammed Hayley's head down on the grass.
By that time an amused amount of wedding guests had come to survey the damage. Elijah pulled Katherine away from Hayley. "Katherine, that's enough! Kat, calm down!"
Hayley stood up, wobbling a bit in her heels, her green dress was torn and she had a bruise on her arm. "Good luck dealing with that!" Hayley spat refusing Stefan's help as she limped towards the exit.
"Ow." Katherine winced as Elijah dabbed rubbing alcohol on the deep scratch that Hayley had made across her cheek. "Those fake nails of her really hurt."
"Well, something tells me you deserve it." Elijah murmured.
Katherine pouted.
"Oh, come on don't pout, you know it's true." Elijah rolled his eyes. "I mean fighting with Hayley like that in the middle of the wedding."
"She started it."
"I really need to sign you up for anger management classes."
"Nice, I'll tell you the same thing next time you run into Mason."
"Here's the bandages." Stefan said as he appeared in the venue's kitchen as Rebekah came in holding a spare baby blue dress.
"And here's the spare blue dress I brought with me." Rebekah laid it on the kitchen counter. "It might be a little big on you though."
"Thanks," she said embarrassed "Sorry about your wedding, that little scene shouldn't have happened."
Stefan exchanged looks with Rebekah. "Uh, I don't know about Rebekah, but I really enjoyed it, we needed some form of entertainment and you really made our wedding memorable."
"Besides you gave that bitch something that she deserved." Rebekah pursed her lips. "And to piggyback on Stefan's point you gave one hell of a good show."
"Uh . . . thanks?"
