After a while, Zuko went to check on Katara and the twins. They were all sleeping peacefully.

Everyone was awoken the next morning by Kazuo's crying, including Korra, who joined him.

Zuko changed them and Katara fed them. They settled down after that.

"Mom, I know I just got here, but I need to leave soon," said Bumi.

"Is something going on in the United Republic of Nations?" Zuko asked.

"No, I'm being sent out on another mission," said Bumi.

"So, what's the new plan?" Katara asked Sokka.

"The new plan is the old plan," said Sokka. "We announce their birth, and set a trap. If anyone wants to attack they'll have to get through us."

"Won't they know it's a trap?" Bumi asked.

"Why would they think that?" Kya asked.

"Mom just had twins. There are Fire Nation guards outside. If she suddenly announces their birth out in the open, it will make her look like a target, but it will also mean there will be guards and her family watching at all times," Bumi replied.

"Bumi has a point," said Katara.

"So should we just wait for them to attack us again?" Zuko asked.

"In a way, yes," said Bumi. "After a while, make them think you feel safe and secure by sending the guards away. Let them think you no longer worry that there will be an attack on you or Mom. Then they will strike, and we will be prepared for them."

"That sounds like it might actually work," said Sokka.

After careful consideration, everyone agreed to Bumi's plan.

Bumi went back to his work.

After a few days, Tenzin left for Air Temple so he could get back to his work in Republic City.

Three months later, the new parents were feeling tired and worn out, and they weren't the only ones.

Sokka helped Zuko convince Katara to go take a vacation on Ember Island with the twins.

So Zuko and Katara set out with Kazuo and Korra and the guards and Druk for the Fire Nation.

Once they got to the Fire Nation, the guards would be relieved of their duty.

After about about a week or longer of traveling on the ship, they arrived on Ember Island.

"We're here," said Katara excited.

"Yes, we are," said Zuko. He carried their bags, while Katara carried the babies.

"I'm glad to be back," said Katara.

"Let me show you something," said Zuko.

He led her to a nursery, which had two cribs set up. It was decorated similar to the nursery at the South Pole.

"Zuko, it's wonderful," she said as she gave him a kiss on the cheek.

Each baby was placed in their crib.

"Why don't you go outside for some fresh air and water?" Zuko asked. "I'll stay here."

"Okay, but only for a few moments," Katara said. She went outside.

After a few hours, Zuko placed Korra and Kazuo in a carrier that he wore over his clothes. Then he went outside and watched Katara as she pushed and pulled the water making waves.

"You look beautiful," said Zuko.

Katara put her hands down causing the water to drop to the sand and return to the ocean.

"Zuko, what are you-" before she could say anything more he kissed her.

"Let's go back inside," Zuko said as he held Katara hand.

They went back inside and put the babies back into the cribs. They settled them down for the evening.

"Katara," said Zuko.

"What?" Katara asked.

"Nothing," said Zuko.

As much as Katara wanted to ask Zuko about what was bothering him, she decided not to. Instead she said, "I love you."

Zuko's eye's widened, and he replied, "I love you, too."

Katara looked at Zuko for a moment then she said, "I'm in love with you."

"You are?" Zuko replied very surprised and shocked.

"Yes, for a while actually," said Katara as she smiled.

Zuko smiled back, "Actually I'm in love with you, too." Then in a somber tone Zuko said, "but I didn't think you'd ever love me back in the same way. I know how much you love Aang. In fact, I was surprised when I found myself falling for you."

"Because the loss you experienced before," Katara said solemnly.

They looked at their children.

"What kind of future do you think they will have?" Katara asked Zuko, as she hugged him.

Zuko furrowed his brow, "I don't know, but whatever the future holds for them, I hope it will be easier than what we had to face."

Katara leaned against Zuko, "Me, too."
