Me and the Matthews

Maya's life has been a roller coaster ride luckily she had her friends to keep it balanced. She had been through the ups and down's to much that anyone her age should be able to handle but some how she did. Was it her friends, Shawn Hunter, The Matthews that helped? Maya wasn't sure all she new was that she was in for a bumpy ride.

36. She's Awake

A/n I'm so sorry this chapter is out so late I'll try get better at managing time now with school and stuff but I hope you like it anyway.

Chapter 35: She's Awake

Maya stood watching as the doctors took Gammy out of the coma her eyes were fixed on gammy she didn't even stop to blink. She then looked at the heart rate monitor and everything looked good and she had a little bit of hope growing inside her allowing her to think everything would be ok.

The doctors had been working on her for a while now and nothing had gone wrong yet. Then Doctor Nolan came out to see them.

''is everything ok Doctor Nolan'' Maya said

''is she ok'' Katy said

''she's awake and responding'' Doctor Nolan said

Maya turned to Riley with a huge smile on her face and squeezed her so hard.

''Maya I can't breathe'' Riley said

''she's awake'' Maya said happily

''she's awake but I might pass out soon'' Riley said

''sorry'' Maya said releasing Riley from her hug

''can we see her'' Katy said

''yes but you need to know that there is a possibility she may not recognise you'' Doctor Nolan said

''how much of a chance'' Maya said

''it's highly unlikely but possible'' Doctor Nolan said

''whatever happens I'll be here for you'' Riley said

''thanks'' Maya said

''anything else we should know'' Katy said

''she is in recovery so she will be weak so don't think anything is wrong if she falls asleep'' Doctor Nolan said

''when can she come home'' Katy said

''We want to keep her overnight for observation but if all goes well you may be taking her home tomorrow'' Doctor Nolan said

''so soon'' Maya said

'' she will be given a nurse that will stay by her side until she recovers to full health'' Doctor Nolan said

''so she's coming home tomorrow'' Maya said excitedly

''if everything goes well yes'' Doctor Nolan said

Maya turned and hugged Katy.

''would you like to see her now'' Doctor Nolan said

''yes please'' Katy said

''this way please'' Doctor Nolan said before leading them into the room Gammy was in.

''you have some visitors'' a nurse said

Gammy looked up at Katy Maya and Riley who were all looking at her.

''well don't just stand there staring come give gammy a hug'' Gammy said

They all went up and squeezed onto Gammy.

''they said you might not recognise us'' Maya said

''how could I not remember Ally, Hannah and Stacy'' Gammy said

Katy Maya and Riley looked at each other realising that gammy didn't recognise them and all had a worried look on their faces.

''I'm only joking come on Katy Maya and Riley did you forget I'm a jokester.'' Gammy said

Katy Maya and Riley and laughed and smiled seeing that Gammy seemed to be back to her normal self.

They sat talking with Gammy about what she had missed and also about what was happening in their lives until it was time to go because visiting hours were over. Maya Katy and Riley all left Grammy's room.

''hey so now that Gammy is up are you going to be coming on the road trip?'' Riley asked

''you know what I think I will be'' Maya said

''yes'' Riley shouted.

''want to hang out now'' Maya said

''sorry I can't Aunty Morgan is taking me out'' Riley said

''that's fine we can hang out some other time'' Maya said

''do you want to come with us'' Riley said

''its ok you never see her anyway so you two can share some time together'' Maya said

''thanks'' Riley said

''listen I'm going off to work now do you need a ride'' Katy said

''yes please'' Riley said

''ok let's go'' Katy said before walking to the car but she stopped when she saw Maya wasn't following.

''Is everything ok'' Katy said

''yeah I think I just saw Casey'' Maya said

''Really where'' Riley said

''who is Casey'' Katy said

''he's a friend from school'' Maya said

''the same friend that got you 7 detentions'' Katy said

''maybe'' Maya said

''I was her fault to'' Riley said

''thanks'' Maya said

''is that him'' Katy said

''yeah that's him'' Maya said

'' want to go say hello'' Katy said

''is it ok if I stay here for a while I'll get the subway home'' Maya said

''ok but if anything bad happens call Shawn for help'' Katy said

''ok bye'' Maya said before watching Katy and Riley leave.

Maya turned and walked to Casey who was standing at the reception desk.

''yes his name is Doctor King'' Casey said

'' he is with a patient right now but you can sit and wait for him if you like'' The receptionist said

''do you know how long he will be'' Casey said

''I'm sorry I'm not sure. What did you say your name was again'' The receptionist said

''Casey O'Connor'' Casey said

''well Casey he did leave this note for you'' The receptionist said giving him the note

The Note said

Hey Case sorry I'm stuck with patients right now. I knew how much you were looking forward to today. I'll try finish up as soon as possible hopefully I won't be too long.

''Yeah thanks'' Casey said

''is there anything else I can do for you'' The receptionist said

''no thanks'' Casey said before turning to see Maya.

''Hey'' Maya said

''yeah hey'' Casey said

''are you ok'' Maya said

''why'' Casey said

''you seem upset'' Maya said

''don't want to talk about it'' Casey said

''its fine'' Maya said

''so what are you doing here'' Casey said

''visiting my grandma'' Maya said

''is she ok'' Casey asked

''Now she is'' Maya said

''that's good'' Casey said

''so what are you doing here'' Maya said

''I was meant to be going out for lunch with someone but that didn't work out'' Casey said

''that sucks'' Maya said

''yeah'' Casey said

''are you hungry'' Maya said

''sorry but I'm not really in the mood for Hospital food'' Casey said

Maya laughed

''Yeah or I could take you to a good burger place down the road'' Maya said

''burgers'' Casey said

''best burgers in all of New York'' Maya said

''sounds good'' Casey said

''ok let's go then'' Maya said

''wait a sec'' Casey said before walking up to the receptionists desk

'' excuse me'' Casey said

''Sorry Mr King won't be out for a while'' The receptionist said

''can you pass on a message for me'' Casey said''

''sure'' the receptionist said

''tell him to get stuffed'' Casey said before turning back to Maya and walking out.

Maya and Casey were sitting at the burger place eating lunch and talking about life.

''So that was pretty full on back there'' Maya said

''when'' Casey said

''Back at the hospital with the receptionist'' Maya said

''yeah sorry you had to see that'' Casey said

'' what was it all about'' Maya said

''I don't know what you mean'' Casey said

''something about a Doctor King'' Maya said

''my brother'' Casey said

''King O'Connor'' Maya said

''no actually he changed his name because he didn't like it'' Casey said

''so he changed it to King'' Maya said

''probably didn't want anything to do with our family anymore'' Casey said

''I never knew you had a brother'' Maya said

''not many people do'' Casey said

''are you to close'' Maya said

''well I live in Philadelphia he lives in New York he forgets every birthday and never calls so not really'' Casey said

''I'm sorry'' Maya said

''it's not your fault it's the doctors'' Casey said

''so would you want to become a doctor like him'' Maya said

'' There is no way my family would think I could be anywhere close to as brilliant as Nolan King'' Casey said

''Nolan'' Maya said

''Yeah that's his name'' Casey said

''I think I've met him'' Maya said

''yeah'' Casey said

''a couple times actually I think'' Maya said

''does he look like this'' Casey said showing her a photo of him

''Yeah that's him'' Maya said

''how do you know him'' Casey said

''I first met him when Josh was in hospital and also when Gammy was there'' Maya said

''well he's a total douche'' Casey said

''so I guess today was a pretty big deal then'' Maya said

''I haven't seen him in ages then he call me up and says hey bro lets have lunch lets catch up'' Casey said

''then gets stuck with work'' Maya said

''yeah'' Casey said

''I get what you mean. Since Gammy has been in hospital it has been one of the longest times I have spent with my mum'' Maya said

''Family's suck'' Casey said

''but what would you do without them'' Maya said

''true'' Casey said

''so got any plans for the holidays'' Maya said

''going back to Philadelphia'' Casey said

''anything else'' Maya said

''like what'' Casey said

''aren't you going to hang with Shane and Emily and the rest of them'' Maya said

''not really'' Casey said

''aren't you coming on the road trip'' Maya said

''the guys talk about it but I don't know anything about it'' Casey said

''Well I think they might all be coming up on the second day ''Maya said

''yeah they were saying something like that'' Casey said

''hey why don't you come'' Maya said

''isn't it just for the Matthews'' Casey said

''yeah it is but I was talking to Corey and he said I could bring people to come up for a day or something'' Maya said

''Corey. You're on a first name basis'' Casey said

''shut up'' Maya said pushing him

Casey laughed

''so what do you think want to come'' Maya said

''you sure it's ok'' Casey said

''it's totally fine'' Maya said

''ok then sounds good'' Casey said

''great'' Maya said with a smile.

A/n lots of you were asking for more Casey and Maya so I tried to do that in this chapter and also people were asking me when I was going to be finishing this story it won't be for a while but I'll let you know when I am getting closer to the end. Please review Thanks
