Two months had passed. Next month was Jamie and Dustin's one year wedding anniversary. Jamie could still sense something was wrong with him but she couldn't get him to talk to her about it. Jamie and Becky were out shopping. Nicole was with Dustin and Shawn was with Cody. Jamie and Becky stopped in a Victoria Secret store.
"Picking up something for Dustin?" Becky asked.
"Well next month is our anniversary."
"I can't believe it's been almost a year."
"Me either."
"Has he told you what's wrong yet?"
"No." "I wish he would."
"I think it has something to do with Cody."
"Cody?"
"Think about it." "Dustin probably doesn't like Cody coming in and stepping on his toes." "Spending time with Shawn which in turn allows him to spend time with you."
"I have noticed the look disstain he gives Cody when he comes to the house." "Dustin knows he has nothing to worry about."
"Are you sure he knows that?"
"Yes I've proven again and again I want to be with him." Jamie picked out a silky short nightgown. "What do you think of this?"
"I hope Dustin doesn't have a bad heart because if he did you'd kill him."
"Nope his heart's strong."
"I've always been curious, who's better?"
"Better at what?"
"In bed."
"Becky." Jamie said smiling.
"Come on."
"They're about the same."
"Does Dustin being older make a difference?"
"No." In bed it's like he's twenty." "Cody can go for a little longer but that's about the only difference." "Take it from me though." "Never sleep with your best friend."
"Why?"
"No matter what you think afterwards nothing is ever the same."
"So you regret having Shawn?"
"No." "I'm talking about the very first time." "Cody and I should've never gave in to our temptations." "Sure we're friends and parents now but it's not the same as before we slept together."
"What about Dustin?" "He was your friend before he was your boyfriend and husband."
"Yes but before we slept together we weren't really all that close." "I mean we were friends but I was more friends with Cody."
Two days later Jamie and Dustin were at their hotel room. The kids were with Cody.
"Jamie there's something really important we need to talk about." Dustin said sitting down beside her. She saw papers in his hand.
"What are those?"
"I thought I could handle this but I can't."
"What are you talking about?"
"This whole you and Cody thing."
"There is no me and Cody thing." "I haven't been with Cody in over a year."
"I know." "I just can't take it." "This has nothing to do with you." "It's me."
"What are you saying?"
"I want a divorce."
"A divorce?" "Dustin."
"I'm sorry." "These are divorce papers." "I've already signed them."
"How could you do this?" "I turned down Cody's proposal to prove how much I wanted to be with you." "This is what you do."
"I'm sorry Jamie."
"I'm going to get the kids." She left slamming the door behind her.
She went to Cody's room and knocked on the door. Cody answered it. As soon as he saw her he knew something was wrong.
"What's wrong Jamie?" Cody asked.
"Nothing I'm fine."
"Come in." She went in.
"Hi mommy." Nicole said.
"Hi Nicole." Jamie said.
"I need to talk to your mommy in the bedroom for a minute." Cody said. "Watch your brother."
"Ok." Nicole said.
Jamie and Cody went into the bedroom. He shut the door.
"What's going on?" He said.
"Dustin um...She got tears in her eyes. ...he filed for divorce."
"He did what?" Cody said shocked.
"Yeah." She started to cry. Cody hugged her.
"Shh." "It's ok." "It's ok Jamie."
