Last time, on Luster the Cat...
Luster flew straight from the Thorndyke Mansion towards Angel Island and after a short while of fun spent above the clouds, the cat used the Instant Transmission technique to finish the trip. Once on the floating island, Luster was attacked by Knuckles due to the latter believing the cyan-furred Mobian to be an intruder. However, a fight had broken out between the two after Luster himself challenged the echidna, with Knuckles emerging as the winner.
Before the Mobian with skills from another universe left, Knuckles informed him about what happened during the incident with the robot named Emerl and how to search for things, รก la his parents. With this new found inspiration, Luster returned to the mansion, planning his own outing.
We now come back to five days after we left off!
June 12th 1991 - 10:42 AM
Thorndyke Mansion
Luster sauntered down a hallway, allowing his ears to pick up distant sounds coming from one of these bedrooms. Knowing exactly what is making these noises and where it is coming from, the cat walked in a perfectly straight line until he reached a certain brown door, which he opened to reveal Christopher Thorndyke, whom was playing video games - the cause of the noises. Though, asking the kid to turn down the television was not the reason Luster was here.
He needed to tell his friend something.
"Hey, Chris," Luster greeted, sitting down on the human's bed after closing the door behind him. "What you playin'?"
"Oh, just something called Castlevania. You're basically a vampire hunter; it's a pretty cool game," answered Chris.
Luster smiled, admiring the game's 8-bit visuals. "Awesome...uh, I have something I wanna tell ya. It's not a secret or anything, but just don't tell Sonic or Tails right away."
"Why not? What do ya want to tell me?" Chris raised an eyebrow, pausing the game and turning one-hundred and eighty degrees.
"...I'm gonna leave the house for a bit. Not for like, a day, but for a few hours. When I was on Angel Island with Knuckles, he told me that 'If you were to look around the world, you can find whatever'. I wanna see if I can find anything that'll tell me where my parents are and how I can get to 'em."
"T-that's awesome, I guess. Why don't you want me to tell Tails or Sonic?"
Luster sighed. "'Cause if I told 'em, they would want to go with me. I'd like to look for myself, without their help."
"I understand," Chris nodded, grasping the situation. Suddenly, his face lit up. "I got a bag you can use, if there's something you find that won't fit in your hammer-space. I know yours is pretty small compared to Sonic's, or even Amy's. Hers is insane!"
"Yeah, I know...all Mobians can use hammer-space, but some have a small one. Looks like I got the short end of the stick, heh."
Chris and Luster shared a smirk. The boy stood up and walked over to his desk and pulled out one of the draws, bringing out a black leather bag from its contents, passing it over to Luster, then taught the Mobian how to properly wear it. Sharing a glance, the two friends shared a grin and eventually shared a handshake as well.
"See ya," Luster finished, raising two fingers to his forehead. Activating Instant Transmission, Luster teleported outside and began flying towards Mobius.
Christopher watched his friend fly away, wondering how long it would be for him to return. Hopefully, the boy thought, it wouldn't be too long.
Luster the Cat: Season 2 Opening 3 (Target - Digimon Adventure 02, English ver.) -
Don't forget that I have dreams
I hope to contain myself
I'll fly along these streams
That I've created for yourself
You know that I aim high
So why do you continue to put me down?
I'll raise my hands to the sky
And show you my renown
The power inside me keeps growing
I fear I may not be able to control it
I won't be easygoing
But I know you'll help me split!
We have power we're willing to share
I think that seems fair
For this world, I do care
Can you tell me what I need to know?
Upon this adventure
We'll come together
Into new boundaries we venture
The wind still needs to blow
Throw it all away; now to play!
Piercing through the Mobian air with his Ki Flight ability, Luster scanned the land below him for anything that piqued his interest. What he saw was nothing but deserts, snow lands, beaches and areas from past adventures. Nothing that seemed quite out of the ordinary, not until Luster saw a kind of village that had a mountain right behind it and an extension of said mountain protecting another side.
That's weird. Meh... Luster initially commented in his mind. Soon, his empty stomach and dry mouth changed his opinion on the place. Maybe they'll have food and some kinda drink. Could also get some directions or even info, 'cause I dunno what I'm doin' right now.
Deciding to pay the village a visit, Luster lowered his y and x-axis position until he landed in front of the village's entrance. Proceeding this, he cautiously tip-toed towards the entrance until he was met with three Mobians wielding spears, presumably some of the village guards.
"You! What business do you have in our village?" the guard in the middle demanded, readying his spear.
Luster tensed his ki, preparing for a potential fight. "I just wanna go in and ask questions. I'm looking for someone."
"Who? Is it one of our civilians?" the same guard continued.
"I don't know yet. I'm looking for a guy that looks like me, but older, and a girl with black fur. If I can't find them, I'll see if I can find anyone that knows them," Luster answered, thinking back to what his parents looked like. Also need to find that 'guy' that worked with Nazo.
The guard nodded and began to converse secretly with his two partners. After what seemed to be a minute, the guards ended their conversation, having come to a decision.
"We have decided to let you into our village. However, if you stir up trouble, you'll have the entire village's guard force to answer to. Do you understand?" the same guard asked.
"Yes, thank you very much," thanked Luster, bowing in kindness. He began to walk towards the village, though the guards kept a watchful eye on him. As the cat made it to the entrance where the guards were, one of them noticed something wrong.
"Halt! What is this?" another one of the three guards questioned, poking Luster's bag with his spear. "Some kind of weapon?"
Luster shook his head. "No-no sir, this is just something that I use to carry things. I don't have anything in it right now."
"We'll have to inspect it before you enter, to make sure you aren't harbouring anything that could harm the village or its residents in any way," the second guard informed. Luster handed over his bag after opening all three of its pockets and after a quick search, only one item was found. Pulling it out, Luster's eyes widened.
It was a gun, something he didn't quite expect to see again. I coulda sworn I threw that away! Why did Chris put that thing in there? Luster thought, in shock.
"Sir, I believe you told us that you had nothing in here. What is this?" the second guard interrogated, holding the gun upside down.
"I believe it is one of those human combustion pistols," the third guard realised. "I've seen those before, but never in use. Those things fire bullets that can kill."
Luster had no words. He was utterly gob-smacked at this revelation. "I swear-I didn't know that was in there! My f-friend, he put that in there without me knowin'! You have to believe me! I don't even use that thing!"
"You don't use it? And you claim that a comrade of yours placed this combustion pistol within this 'carrying object'," the first guard repeated, trying to understand the situation. "If you truly don't use it, then we'll have to dispose of it. Any objections?"
"No sir, but would you like me to dispose of it right here and right now? I'll make sure it can never be used by anyone ever again," Luster grinned, holding his hand out. "I have special powers that are way stronger than that thing. I don't use it 'cause I don't need it."
"You have powers? Can you keep them under control?" the first guard asked again. "You say you can dispose of this item yourself. If you do so, we'll have to observe so nothing shady goes on."
"Yeah, I can keep them under control. I'd actually prefer it if you guys watched me, that means you can see what I can do," nodded Luster, being handed the gun he stole from Eggman aboard the Space Colony ARK during the Shadow incident. He then threw the pistol into the air and blasted it to smithereens with a single ki sphere. "That's not the limit of my power but trust me, I have no evil intentions. I fight against Doctor Eggman regularly, I hate evil."
"You fight Dr. Eggman...!" the second guard repeated in disbelief.
"I suppose we'll have to trust you, then," the first guard ended, offering Luster a handshake which he happily accepted. "Welcome to Prylea Village, sir."
"Thank you. My name's Luster the Cat and I'm glad to be here," Luster introduced, smiling. He entered the village after giving the three guards a thumbs-up. Looking at the many buildings and people walking in between them, the cat retained his confidence. Now to find either my parents, the guy that took my parents, or someone that can help me!

Prylea Village
Wandering down the street closest to him, Luster looked around at the buildings surrounded him. They were all made of wood, which made them fairly fragile, though easy to rebuild. All the roofs had stone plating on them, in order to protect them from lightning striking down and starting a great spread of fire. Luster looked left and right, finding buildings with signs on them but neither one looked like a place where food was available.
His stomach rumbling, Luster increased his pace and hurried his search. When he was about to give up hope, his nose twitched. He could smell something delicious. Allowing his nose to guide him, Luster followed the smell to a food bar with six stools next to the counter. A Mobian behind the counter turned around and noticed the ten-year old sitting on the stool with some peculiar item hung over his shoulder. Intrigued, the Mobian instigated a conversation.
"Are ya new? I haven't seen you around here before," the stranger noticed. He had orange fur, black eyes and was rather sizely, though not on Eggman's level of skin. "I recognise my customers."
"Yeah, I'm new. What have ya got to eat? I forgot to grab something before I left..." Luster answered, lamenting his woes.
The orange-furred Mobian paused for a moment, then continued speaking. "We've got all kinds of Mobian cuisine, but it looks like you don't have any Rings...tell ya what. I'll give ya somethin' for free. How's that sound?"
"You'd do that?!" Luster's face lit up, shocked by this display of kindness. "Thank you, sir! Uh...what's your name?"
"My name's Gren. Dunno if it means anything, probably doesn't, but I don't really care," Gren the Bear introduced, turning around and getting to work. "So kid, where do ya come from? Haven't seen you 'round here or anywhere else, for that matter."
"I'm looking for some people: one of them looks like me, but is taller and older; another has black-fur and is married to the first Mobian; the third...I don't know what he looks like," recounted Luster. Now that I think about it, what DOES that guy look like? ...Would've been a good idea to ask Nazo. Why didn't I do that?!
Gren put on the same 'thinking' pose from before, then returned to cooking. "I think I remember seein' Mobians like them before...my memory kinda sucks, to be honest."
"You have? D'you remember anything else about them?"
"Hmm..." Gren drifted into a train of thought, only interrupting himself when the food desired attention. "I remember 'em comin' here a few times. As I told ya, I always remember my customers and what they order. The guy wanted a Mobian Blackthorn Pie and the woman wanted a Berry Stew, though I can't get their names. Sorry, kid. They were good people, if that helps."
Luster drooped his head in disappointment. "Thanks anyway, Gren."
Several minutes of silence passed. During that time, Luster used what Gren had just told him and his already present memories to figure out what his parents were like as people, not parents. He invisioned them as nice people, as Gren said, though imagined his father having a wild side while his mother was the more sensible one. Thinking about his parents made Luster smile, not even Gren turning around with some kind of meat on a stick would interrupt this feeling of bliss.
"Hey, kid. Got you your Mobian Meat Stick," Gren informed Luster, handing the food item over. "It's on the house, so don't worry about pay. Just glad I could help a fella like you."
"Mobians sure have obvious names for their food, huh?" commented Luster, taking a bite of the meat. He liked it. "This is pretty nice! Thanks, Gren!"
"Only for the basic dishes, kid. Oh hey, I don't think I asked for your name. What's it?" Gren smiled, happy to see a delightful customer at his food bar.
"Luster," the cat answered, remembering the manners taught to him by Ella when he first had Earthian food many months ago. Upon hearing the name, Gren had formed another look of thought on his face. "Something wrong?"
"Now that name rings a bell. I think they even brought ya here, before. I remember they once came by - the girl was carryin' some kid, that was probably you," Gren realised. "But you said you're not from here. Did your parents not talk about Prylea when you guys left?"
"Huh? They left?"
Gren breathed in and out, scratching his head in awkwardness. "So they didn't...how dare they! I can't be mad at them for long, they had their reasons for leaving..."
"Gren?"
"Yeah, kid?"
"It's Luster, but whatever. What were you sayin'? About 'em leaving?"
Luster had finished consuming the meat and so placed the stick on the counter, which Gren took and placed in the bin positioned below the counter. "Your folks lived here once, then they left. It was sometime after you were born...I don't know why they left, but I respect them for doing so. Our old leader kinda sucked."
"Leader? You guys have a leader?" Luster raised an eyebrow, interested.
"We sure do. He governs us, makes all the decisions and stuff. We've had different leaders before and our last one really sucked. He never listened to us and would make war against other villages for their resources. I think your pa was part of that army. Maybe he decided he'd had enough, then left the village with your ma and yourself," Gren theorised. "Good thing he was killed in the middle of battle. Our new leader is so much better; he's the opposite of our old one."
"Huh. That explains why we were livin' in that wood house that they built," noted Luster. "Is this all you remember about 'em?"
"Yep, sorry kid," Gren apologised. "I'm guessin' this is the part where you leave and stuff."
"Yeah. I'll be sticking around here until I figure out where to go next," Luster ended. "My parents died when I was...five, I think? Maybe."
"Wow, they went? I'm sorry for their death. I wish I could have done somethin' about it."
"No, you couldn't. Luckily, someone was there to help me, 'cause I nearly died as well," Luster smiled, bliss returning to his system. "Well, I mean some Mobians."
"Who were they?"
"Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails the Fox they kept me company," answered Luster. "Though, I found out somethin' weird about my parents. They're still alive, apparently they're being kept by someone and I don't know who or where he is."
"Gee, that's gotta be a shocka. I hope you can find 'em some day," Gren reassured, smiling. "See ya later, kid."
"See ya, Gren."

Prylea Village
Luster hopped off the stool and began strolling further down this street, which was next to the one he first explored. After he had ventured down the road, his shoes clashing against the soft mud, he heard someone's cries of woe from another street. Instinctively, Luster dashed over and found a dark-green furred Mobian running away with some kind of possession that a red-furred Mobian owned.
Let's be a hero, Luster planned, grinning. He used Afterimage to dash in front of the dark-green thief. "Stealing's not nice. Don't do that."
"Gah! Where'd you come from, kid?" the thief barked, confused. "Doesn't matter. I'll kill you right here!" He tried to slash at Luster with a knife, but the cat jumped into the air and kicked the thief in the head, knocking him clean. Luster landed on the other side of the thief, feeling rather awkward at the amount of Mobians that were staring at him.
In time, the red-furred Mobian victim ran up and re-obtained her stolen belonging and immediately began thanking Luster. "Thank you very much, child! You must be strong if you took him out in a single hit!"
"I'm stronger than that," Luster smirked, his ego getting the better of him. "But anyway, are you alright?"
"Yes, I'm fine," the citizen smiled, nodding. "You don't look like you're from here. Could I interest you in a place to stay? You're welcome to stay at my home if you don't have one yourself."
"You sure?"
"I'm very sure," the stranger nodded once more. "My name's Roserie. What's yours?"
"Luster, miss," the cat replied. "Thank you for the offer. I don't have a place here, so I'd love to stay at your place until I'm done here."
Roserie smiled once again and began ambling towards her home, with Luster in tow. Eventually, guards arrived on the scene and apprehended the criminal, leaving no worries for either of the two. With great spirits between them, the Mobians became good friends.
Luster the Cat: Season 2 Ending 3 (Kimi ga Iru Kara - Fairy Tail, English ver.) -
You don't understand this pain of mine
What do you really think of it?
I do have a wish - a reason to shine
Because of this, I will never quit
If you ever leave my presence
I don't know what I would do
Could you leave a bit of your essence?
I'll keep it, until my life's through
Knowing that you'll be there makes my heart burst
I don't think I could ever finish first
Can this really be the worst?
I know with you, my heart will be nursed
(Happiness, sadness and everything so)
(We reap what we need to sow)
(Can you please not go?)
(I don't want you to know)
My life starts right here, right now
We can't turn around our past
I'll never need to ask you how
Thanks to you, I can finish last
My dreams flutter in the summer
Summer turns into winter
To spring, to autumn and back to summer
Despite this I don't ever change
Author Notes: Luster's Quest is a short story arc that involves Luster's travels to find the person that took his parents. If not, he'll try to at least get something so he knows what to do. Hopefully this chapter has been a good read for y'all! See you all next time.
Also, Roserie is not going to be a love interest for Luster. He's too young to be involved in romance, kid's only ten.
