Ash's POV
I felt something cold against my body. I opened my eyes and as my vision came back, I saw that I was in a jail cell with thick bars. I pushed myself into a sitting position and didn't feel my Pokeball belt. Looking down, I saw that it was gone. I scanned the cell and didn't see Pikachu or Adam and his friends anywhere. Everything and everyone was gone.
Where are they? Are they okay? Are they hurt? I thought. Anxiety was all that I felt. I needed to find out where they were and if they were okay.
My thoughts were halted by the door opening and the hunter walked into the room, his face still hidden. I jumped up and grabbed the bars, staring at him. The hunter stopped in front of me and looked at me.
"I don't know what sort of strange powers you obtained from the Temple of Legends, but don't try anything funny or try to escape. We have your Pokemon, your son, and his friends. Don't worry, they're all alive...for now. But make one wrong move, and they will pay the price." he warned.
I glared at the hunter. He was a coward...hiding his identity behind a mask. But then, I had an idea. This may be a good opportunity to try and get some information out of him about Team Rocket's plans...
"Where are we?" I asked.
"Do you remember Team Rocket's old underwater base near Ogi Isle? This is it. After Lugia blasted you, we took your unconscious bodies to our subs and brought you down here. It's recently been rebuilt and will serve as our launch point for all of our naval assaults for our submarines and Gyarados that we continue to evolve. You will all stay here underwater, safe from the storm on the surface until it's over."
"What are you going to do with us?"
"Once Lugia has finished destroying the Whirl Islands as I commanded, the storm will end and you will be taken to our Johto headquarters. My boss wants to see you and deal with you all personally. Lugia will remain under our control from now on."
"You said that you only joined Team Rocket after their most recent defeat in Kanto. Why? Why did you join?"
"Let's just say that we shared a common foe: you. We both wanted you out of the way for good for different reasons, but only they had the means to do it. So, to see my goal through, I agreed to help them with anything that they needed. Our other new Pokemon Hunter joined Team Rocket for the same reason as me."
The hunter then turned slightly and added, "I've said enough. I have to check on your son and his friends."
As he walked out of the room, he called over his shoulder, "Remember, don't try anything funny. Or else."
I sighed in defeat and sat down against the wall. I was helpless to do anything, despite being the strongest trainer in the world. I was angry and sad at the thought of being useless.
If I try to do anything, Adam will pay the price and I have to keep him and his friends safe. I can't let them pay the price for my actions.
I wasn't able to stop what I saw in my vision, and now it's become a reality! I'm responsible for any deaths and all of the chaos that's been created by Lugia. I want to do something...but I can't...I can't risk any more lives...I can't risk the kids' safety.
I leaned my head against the wall and thought about the hunter's reason for joining. I was a foe of his and he wanted me out of the way for good. Who was this hunter and who was the other new hunter? Both of them had a common enemy...me, but why? What had I done to them that caused them to join Team Rocket? Who were they and just how well did I know them?
Adam's POV
I opened my eyes and groaned. Jason laid beside me on his stomach, groaning softly. Looking at Jason, I saw that his clothes were dirty, he had bruises and burns covering his body. I knew that I looked the same. Getting hit by the Aeroblast had done a number on us. I groaned and gasped as pain shot through my body as I forced myself into a sitting position. Jason hissed as he pulled himself upright and leaned against the wall.
"Wait a second..." I said as I looked around.
Our Pokemon weren't there...and neither was my dad or Michelle!
"Michelle..." Jason muttered.
Worry came over me. Was Michelle okay? Was my dad okay? Where were they? Or our Pokemon?
The door suddenly opened and I jerked my head towards the door, wincing at my actions. The hunter walked into the room and looked at me.
"So...you're finally awake. Before you ask, we have your Pokemon, along with your father and Michelle in different cells. Don't worry, they're alive. But if your father tries anything, YOU will pay the price."
I glared at him. "You'd better not hurt Michelle!" I shouted.
"I won't. But I can't speak for my boss. He will decide what to do with you personally. You will all be taken to our Johto headquarters to learn what your fates will be. But I can promise you...it won't be good.
"If you're wondering where you are, you're in an underwater base of ours that's near Ogi Isle. After you were attacked, we brought you all here. You'll stay here underwater, safe, until the storm is over. Once Lugia has finished destroying the Whirl Islands, the storm will end and you will all be taken to our Johto headquarters. Lugia will remain under our control from now on."
He turned on his heel, heading towards the door. He stopped in front of the door, his hand on the handle. "I'll be talking to Michelle next. You're lucky that it was me who captured you and not a different hunter. Unlike the others, I can promise you that Michelle will be safe until you're all taken to our base."
"Why? What do you mean by that?"
"That's only for her to know. I'll let you see her one last time before you meet our boss and let her decide if she wants to share with you what I tell her."
With that, he left the room, leaving Jason and I to wonder what had just happened. What did the hunter mean that Michelle would only know...what would he say only to her?
I sighed and let my head hit the wall with a thud. "We shouldn't have gotten involved, because now my dad will put us above anything else. He'll always make sure others are safe, no matter what." I muttered, feeling angry.
"Yeah, but we couldn't not get involved. It's not in our nature...I just hope that the destruction up there isn't as bad as we fear it is..." Jason trailed off.
I nodded my head, but we both knew that it was wishful thinking. The destruction was going to be unimaginable.
If we do encounter Team Rocket's boss...well, he went to great lengths to get dad to cooperate last time. This time...he'll be out for revenge, since we ruined his plans before. He won't hesitate to harm us or even kill us after all the trouble we've caused.
Michelle's POV
I moaned as I moved slowly. I was barely able to get myself into a sitting position, hissing in pain as I forced myself up. I was alone in a cell. Then the door opened and the hunter walked into the room.
"If you're wondering where you are, you're in an underwater base of ours that's near Ogi Isle. After you were attacked, we brought you all here. You'll stay here underwater, safe, until the storm is over. Once Lugia is finished destroying the Whirl Islands, the storm will end and you will all be taken to our Johto headquarters. My boss wants to see you and deal with you all personally. Lugia will remain under our control from now on.
"I have something very important to say before you possibly end up dead at the command of my boss."
A small silence passed and he knelt down so that he was eye level with me.
"I'm only going to say this once and it doesn't matter if you believe it or not, because in the end, the truth is the truth. Michelle Waterflower...I am your father."
I stared at him. It couldn't be...no...not after all this time! I couldn't have found him and he couldn't be my father! Not a monster like this man was!
I shook my head in denial. But then he started to tell me things that only my mom and I know. He told me where I was born, what hospital I was born in, my birthday, the time I was born at, my exact weight and height at birth!
"I was there. I had to have been, to know these things. Things that only a parent could know about their child."
Chills went down my spine at the words he was speaking. I shook my head, still not wanting to believe it.
"Team Rocket could've just stolen that information or hacked into the data network to learn about me. This is all just a trick to scare me and shake my focus!" I shouted in anger.
But deep down, I knew that the real reason why I kept denying it was because I didn't WANT to believe that it was true. I couldn't accept this. I didn't WANT a father that's evil and working for Team Rocket!
"You're lying..."
"Believe what you want, Michelle, but you have my eyes. And that necklace that you wear that's so precious to you...I gave it to you when you were born."
I had to have had my father's eyes, since I obviously didn't have my mom's eyes...although, I couldn't see his. I had to guess that they were onyx...if he was my father.
"No! NO! You HAVE to be lying! My mom told me that SHE was the one that got this necklace for me when I was born, and I trust her way more than I trust you!"
"Believe what you want, Michelle. Deep down, you know the truth. You can feel it. I'm your father."
This can't be true. There's no way that my father is a Pokemon Hunter and a member of Team Rocket! I won't believe he's my father until I get actual proof...or until mom confirms it. Adam never believed that his uncle was a Pokemon Hunter with Team Rocket until his family confirmed it. So, until I get proof, I won't trust what this man says, either! I thought to myself.
"You're not my father! You're just a cold-hearted killer!" I screamed.
He merely shrugged and headed for the door. "I've told you what I came here to tell you. Like I said, I don't care if you believe me or not. Regardless, your life and the life of your friends are now in my boss's hands. It's not up to me. Even if I am your father, there's nothing that I can do to stop what my boss has planned for you...even if it's something bad."
He spoke those words without any emotion and the door slammed shut behind him. I stared at the door, unable to process anything.
If he is my father...then he cares more about Team Rocket and their evil plans than his own daughter! He doesn't even care if his own daughter lives or dies! Would a father really care so little about his child that their life means nothing to him? What kind of father is that?!
I shook my head. I couldn't grasp the fact that my father would care so little about his child. A man that cruel couldn't be my father! How could a girl as nice as myself come from a man as evil as him? It's impossible!
And if he was my father, he wouldn't have left Mom and I alone, he would have stayed. Amber's father had a good reason for leaving her, not like this man. He can't be my father, he doesn't care about anyone but himself and Team Rocket, like how I screamed at him after he murdered those innocent Pokemon. It's also no surprise that he wouldn't care about me, since he was never there when I was growing up. There's nothing about him that resembles a father figure at all. He's nothing but evil and has no care for anyone or anything, only Team Rocket's plans. That's why I can't...why I WON'T believe anything that he says.
I laid my head on my knees and squeezed my eyes shut. A tear forced its way from my eyes and I felt a few more tears escape. If this was true...I didn't want it to be, and would have rather not known it at all. But one thing that ran through my head that struck me as odd with this Pokemon Hunter was that he hadn't revealed his name. Usually, they said their names to us, but this one made sure that we didn't know his name and even made sure that we couldn't get any glimpse of who he was.
Why hide his face from me if he was my dad? That was just another reason why I knew that he had to be lying to me.
Adam's POV
I fell to the ground yet again, after failing to get back on my feet. I was still too weak and hurt.
"Adam, just forget about it and accept defeat. We're too weak to do anything, Team Rocket has your dad and Lugia, so nobody can stop them, and nobody knows where we are, so there's no help coming. No one will rescue us. We've finally lost. Team Rocket has won." Jason said, his voice sullen.
I shook my head. "There has to be a solution! My dad never gave up, no matter what the odds were, and neither will I!"
Arceus, please help us...give us a sign...anything!
The door suddenly opened and two people entered. They were wearing tight-fitting black leather full-body suits and black helmets with tinted visors to hide their faces. I didn't know them, but I could tell that they were women because of their height and the way that their outfits hugged their bodies.
They walked to the door and removed a bottle that had an orange-colored liquid in it. They opened the bottle and poured some of the liquid onto the lock, dissolving it. They opened the door and walked over to us and knelt next to us. They removed two syringes and injected the drugs into our arms.
"What did you just inject into us?" I asked, looking at them and my arm.
"It's a mix of adrenaline and painkillers." one replied.
"It won't last forever or heal your injuries, but it should restore enough strength for you to escape." the other added.
"The effects should start working in a minute or two." the first one said as she removed another syringe and a bottle of chemicals and handed them to me.
"Use this syringe on your other friend to get her up and moving. Your father isn't as hurt as you, so he should be fine. The chemicals in the bottle will dissolve the locks on their cell doors."
"Who...are you two? Why are you helping us? You don't look like you work for Team Rocket."
"We don't...well, not anymore. We used to, a long time ago. But now we work for someone else, a third party in the battle to stop Team Rocket. Who we are and why we're helping you isn't for you to know. But we will say this: our boss ordered us to come here and set you free once he learned of your abduction. We can't reveal our reasons why he wants that."
"We've done our part. It's up to you to figure out a way to escape on your own. We're sneaking into one of Team Rocket's submarines, but it's too heavily guarded for you kids to sneak to and you're too weak to fight them all. But there is emergency diving gear in the room where your Pokemon are held."
Before we could even respond, they were up and out of the room.
I could feel the effects of the medicine kick in and was able to stand up. Jason also stood up.
"We need to find Michelle and your dad as quickly as possible. These drugs won't last forever." Jason said.
I nodded my head. "Let's try and find them first and then we can get out of here."
We walked out into the hallway and found that it was full of holding cells. We started going from door to door, looking for them. The first few rooms were empty, but then we heard a moan of pain from one of the doors. Jason opened the door and we walked into the room and found Michelle in her cell.
Jason used the chemicals on the door and we walked into her cell. We helped her sit up and I knelt beside her and rolled up her sleeve.
"This may hurt a bit, but it'll make you feel better." I said as I injected the medicine into her arm.
"What is it?" she asked as she pulled her sleeve down.
"A mix of adrenaline and painkillers. It will restore our strength long enough for us to get out of here." I replied.
I stood up and held my hand out to her and Jason did the same. She took our hands and we pulled her to her feet before placing her arms around our shoulders and helping her limp out of the room. We couldn't afford to wait for the drugs to kick in, time wasn't on our side.
We continued to look for my dad's room and eventually found it. We gently set Michelle down and hurried and dissolved the lock on my dad's cell.
"Adam?! What...how can you all move with your injuries and how did you escape?" he asked as he stood up.
"There's no time to explain, we need to find our Pokemon and get out." Jason responded.
Michelle stood up, her strength returning, and we started to sneak through the hallways, looking for where our things could be.
We found a room with lockers in it and we hurried into the room and closed the door. Jason dissolved the locks and we found diving gear and our Pokeballs. Both mine and my dad's Pikachus had been turned into statues. I slid the switches down and once they were free, they jumped on our respective shoulders, happy to see us.
"Okay...we have everything now. We need to get out of here, and quickly." I said.
"Team Rocket can't be allowed to continue operating here in this base, so it needs to be destroyed." my dad said.
"How?"
"Well, the only thing that was strong enough to destroy the base the last time was...Lugia..."
"Wait, so if you break their hold on Lugia...it will listen to you?" Jason asked.
My dad nodded his head.
"But how will you break Lugia out of its mind-controlled state?"
"I need to get Lugia to stay still and calm long enough for me to use my powers. With my mark, I have the power over all Legendary Pokemon, so it should free Lugia from Team Rocket's control."
"But how will you be able to keep Lugia still long enough to do that?" Michelle asked.
"The only thing strong enough to do that is another Legendary Pokemon...or three."
The three of us exchanged confused glances with one another.
"What do you mean by that?"
"You'll see what I mean in due time." my dad replied.
"There's no diving gear here that's small enough for Pikachu and they can't hold their breaths long enough to swim out of here. I know how we can get Pikachu to safety, but it's not one that they'll like." I said after a moment. "We'll need to return them to their Pokeballs."
I looked at the two Pokemon. "I know that you both hate being inside your Pokeballs, but it's the only way to keep you safe until we reach the surface."
"Pi...Pika." the two Pokemon replied, sadly, but understandingly.
I looked around the room, thinking. "Hey...if we can break down the wall here, it would lead us right outside so that we can escape. Rhydon is my strongest Pokemon and can swim, unlike most Rock Pokemon. Team Rocket's base obviously has strong bulkhead doors to prevent the water from spreading to the rest of the base, so this won't flood or destroy the base. But it should keep them distracted long enough for us to swim away. We need to do this fast, since it will make a lot of noise and draw the guards' attention."
"Sounds like a good enough plan, and it's the only one we have." said Michelle.
We got into our diving gear, since the ocean was right on the other side of the wall, and returned our Pikachus before I released Rhydon.
"Break through the wall in front of us." I ordered.
Rhydon let out a cry and started to drill into the wall with his horn in several places. He then began to ram into the wall and tear at it with his claws. Layer after layer of thick steel was ripped away, but we still weren't having any luck breaking through.
"They've built the base's walls extra thick to prevent a repeat of what happened last time." my dad muttered as Rhydon continued.
Finally, streams of water began to spray from the cracks in the wall. Rhydon was almost through!
But then the door suddenly opened and a female grunt stood at the entrance, having heard the noise. A look of terror came across her face and she screamed in fear as Rhydon broke through the wall. A giant blast of water gushed into the room, hit her, and literally drowned out her screams. The room and hallway began to quickly fill with water. Rhydon ripped a hole that was big enough for all of us to swim through and we started swimming out and up towards the surface.
After what felt like an eternity, we finally broke through the surface, but the sea was just as dangerous as before. The wind, rain, and waves were all threatening to destroy the Whirl Islands. It was forcing us back underneath. We dove back underwater where it was safer, and swam towards land. Once we surfaced, we climbed to shore, removed the diving gear, and I returned Rhydon before releasing Pikachu as my dad released his own.
"How are you going to save Lugia?!" we asked my dad, having to shout to be heard over the wind.
My dad removed his glove from his hand that had the mark and closed his eyes. "I'll need the help of three Legendary Pokemon to stop Lugia, but I've never summoned more than one Pokemon at a time. But it's a risk that I have to take."
I frowned, feeling worried for my dad. I couldn't do anything to stop him, but I trusted him. He had never let the world down before!
My dad raised his hand to the sky and called out three Legendary Pokemon names. "Articuno! Zapdos! Moltres!" The three Legendary bird Pokemon emerged from the clouded black sky.
Sensing their power, Lugia emerged from the storm, its eyes still glowing red.
"We have to stop Lugia! Attack!" my dad commanded.
Right before our eyes, a clash between Legendary Pokemon broke out! Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos started to launch their attacks towards Lugia, who was using its own attacks.
The four Pokemon flew into the clouds, hiding themselves. All we could see were flashes of light, a Flamethrower shooting through the clouds, a Thunderbolt following quickly afterwards, and then an Ice Beam heading that way. Then, what looked to be a Twister.
The dark sky was a blast of colors and when the Legendary Pokemon flew down from the clouds, they were bright against the dark skies. All of the Pokemon were speeding through the air at breathtaking speeds, diving, rolling, and dodging attacks.
An Ice Beam shot over Lugia as it managed to dodge, but a Flamethrower landed a direct hit as a Thunderbolt grazed Lugia. The bird trio quickly flew apart as Lugia sent an Aeroblast towards them, flying through the air very gracefully, before launching more attacks.
Looking at Jason and Michelle, I saw that they were in shock, just like I was. We had never seen a battle of these proportions before!
"Is this battle anything like the battle that occurred between them when you were traveling through the Orange Islands?" I asked my dad.
"It's even bigger than that one!" he answered.
... ...
The three-way battle continued on for what felt like forever. Fire, ice, and electricity shot across the sky amid Lugia's own attacks as the Pokemon sped through the air! The sky was alight with energy from the powerful attacks! Adding to the spectacle was the ferocious winds, blinding rain, and crashes of thunder from the storm!
Finally, the bird trio fired a synchronized attack and it hit Lugia head-on. Lugia landed on the ground, weakened.
My dad made his way over to Lugia and placed his hand on its head. His mark began to glow as he let his power flow into Lugia's mind and soul. Lugia's body was bathed in light as its eyes changed back to normal and it calmed down. As this happened, the winds died, the rain stopped, the seas calmed, and the sky began to clear. The clouds dispersed and the sun shone, revealing the blue skies.
"Thank you, Chosen One, for freeing my mind from the rage that consumed me." Lugia said, as it used telepathy to talk to us.
"You and the other Legendary Pokemon trusted me with your power, power that I would use to protect you all, and the world. I wasn't going to let you all down." my dad replied.
My dad then looked towards the sea. "Could you dive down and destroy Team Rocket's underwater base?" my dad asked.
Lugia nodded its head and dived under the water. Blasts of water shot into the air after a few moments, signaling the attacks as Lugia attacked the base.
"Do you think that any of them will escape?" I asked.
"Maybe a few in their submarines, but most of them are doomed. Team Rocket will never use that base again. The Whirl Islands are safe at last." my dad replied.
Lugia then shot up out of the water and flew off into the distance as the Legendary bird trio flew off in another direction.
"Thank you, Lugia." my dad muttered.
"I wonder what happened to that Pokemon Hunter?" Jason said after a moment.
"Hopefully, he's gone for good." Michelle responded, but she sounded nervous. Her voice had wavered, it reminded me of her talking about what Hunter Oliver had done to her, during our first run-in with a Pokemon Hunter.
I shared a glance with Jason and we looked towards Michelle. Both of us remembered what the hunter had told us before he left to talk to Michelle in the base.
I then realized that our ordeal was finally over and I let out a sigh. But deep down, I knew that things were going to be interesting if we encountered Team Rocket again. We had ruined their plans yet again and had escaped once again.
"I hope everyone's okay on Silver Rock Isle..." Michelle said as she looked around at the damage to Ogi Isle. There were so many destroyed trees and the forest had been swamped by the giant waves and had lots of puddles.
"Yeah...same. I'm just glad it's all over." Jason said, his shoulders sagging as he relaxed after being so tensed.
A horn was heard in the distance, and looking, we saw a group of boats heading towards us. Officer Jenny, some officers, some paramedics, and Luka and her sons stepped out onto the shore as they reached us.
I saw my dad breathe a sigh of relief as he saw Luka and her sons. He had been worried for them, fearing that they had perished in the chaos of the storm that had ensued.
"We were able to get to safety on Silver Rock Isle after my boat was swept away by the waves." Luka explained.
"We knew that she could sail. But we didn't know that she could sail THAT well! At least not in a typhoon." her sons explained.
"My boat was destroyed as we made it to land, but we found Officer Jenny and told her about you and the kids being here and that Team Rocket was here, too. Once the storm calmed, we brought help."
My dad walked over to Luka. "As a way of saying thank you for everything you've done, I'll buy you a new boat." he said.
He then walked over to her sons and handed them something. A silver wing, just like the one that their mom owned. He had taken it from Lugia after freeing it.
"We got to see Lugia after all, just like Mom did."
"Maybe not under the circumstances that we would have liked, but we did."
Officer Jenny walked over to my dad. "Can you tell me everything that happened here?"
My dad nodded his head. But as he was about to speak, I suddenly fell to my knees and Jason and Michelle did, too. It seemed that the drugs had worn off and the pain was coming back.
"I'll explain everything once they're better." my dad said, concerned for us.
The paramedics rushed over to us and we were put onto stretchers. They set masks over our faces that had an anesthetic to put us to sleep.
"Save your strength." they told us.
I felt myself growing sleepy. I looked up at my dad and smiled.
"It's okay, we're safe now." he said.
"Thank you for everything, Dad." I said.
"You helped too, Adam. So, thank you."
I felt proud, hearing my dad say that. I then turned my head and looked at Michelle, who was laying next to me. I smiled weakly at her. She smiled back just as weakly and reached her hand out, which I slowly took in my own.
I couldn't speak, due to being so tired, but I gave her a reassuring nod, which she returned. We both understood that we would both be okay. Her eyes closed, and shortly afterwards, my eyes closed as the anesthetic took effect.
Author's Note: The kids are captured and taken to Team Rocket's underwater base, where Michelle hears a shocking revelation from the Pokemon Hunter who claims to be her dad. As you may have guessed, she doesn't believe it's true.
But then, two unknown women that claim to be former members of Team Rocket who are working for a mysterious third party show up and help Adam and Jason escape.
After their successful escape, Ash is able to calm the raging Lugia and stop the storm that is destroying the Whirl Islands, thanks to the help of Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.
Everyone will now have the chance to rest and heal before continuing their journey, but many questions still need to be answered.
Who is the unknown Pokemon Hunter that claimed to be Michelle's father? Is he telling the truth about him being her dad? Who were those two mysterious women that aided the kids' escape? How bad is the damage to the Whirl Islands after what happened in the storm?
Let us know if you have any guesses and stay tuned for the next chapter of Pokemon NG!
