Chapter 35 Questions, Insults and Escapes

Darcy was thoroughly enjoying her ride around New York on Steve's Harley. She had no Clue where they were going, but it really didn't matter it was just her and Steve. She pressed her cheek against his back and hugged him a little tighter slipping her hands into the front of his jacket. He speed up a little and she couldn't help but squeal. The ride ended at Central Park Darcy had never been and she was enjoying the long walk. It was a nice day to just walk they weren't really talking just holding hands enjoying there time together. They stopped to sit on a bench under a large tree and Steve went to buy some ice creams. Darcy sighed leaning back a little watching two boys through a soft ball at each other not too far from her an old man probably their Grandpa join in their game. The older boy through the ball a little to hard and it swished passed the younger boy and come to a stop near Darcy's boot. both shoved each other trying to get the other one to go retrieve the ball. Darcy picked it up and headed closer to them

" Missing something?" she asked holding the ball out to them shyly the oldest one took it from her their Grandpa smiling at her.

"Thank you Miss." he said she nodded the younger boy seemed to get a little braver because he smiled

" Wanna play with us Miss?" she looked over at Steve who was still in line at the cart and smiled

" Sure." and before she knew it they were in a lively game grandpa who was named Henry took a seat a t Darcy's bench while she played with the boys Jack and Sean. Jack's fast ball had Darcy rushing back trying to catch it, but her heel Caught on something and she went down.

" Darcy." she heard four voices call and she felt a strong arms holding her up. Looking up to see Steve arms around her ice cream on the ground she couldn't help but laugh.

" My Hero." he helped her stand up more fully, Henry,Jack and Sean rushed to them.

" Are you alright Darcy?" The boys asked she nodded , Henry said it was time to go the boys said goodbye and Darcy watched them go. She looked over at Steve smiling sheepishly

" Sorry about the ice cream hon." He shook his head smiling at her pushing some of her unruly curls behind her ear.

" Its alright Darcy" His voice cracked slightly and she looked over at him, eyebrow raised he looked nervous. She watched him stick his hand into his jacket pocket he pulled out something and held out a small black box. Was that a ring box? Shakily she took it from him, and slowly opened it. Inside was a small gold heart with a tiny ruby and twin pearls no one had ever given her anything this beautiful.

" Oh Steve." she whispered as he took the pin from the box.

" Darcy Bingly Lewis, will you be my girl officially and some day my wife? He asked, all she could do was nod, but realized she should say something.

" Yes, yes, I do, I will, oh hell." she garbed his face and kissed him which he returned happily. He pulled away smiling pinning the little pin to her blouse.

" I've been pinned." she squealed it reminded her of an old movie, Steve laughed kissing her again.

" I love you." he said grinning

Mary woke up, sitting up she scrubbed a hand over face, she was still on Thor's couch.

" Miss Mary," she jumped fifty feet in the air at the sound of the voice.

" Hello?" she said looking around not seeing anyone around.

"Hello Miss Mary, I'm Jarvis Mr. Stark's AI." Oh she heard of him from Darcy.

" Mr. Jay right? where is Darcy?" She asked feeling odd talking to the ceiling, when their was nothing their. It made her feel like a bit of a head case.

" Yes Miss, , Mrs. Rogers and the captain went out, I was told to inform you when you woke." He said, so Darcy went off some where probably to relax some she was pretty sure her sister needed some alone time with Steve. Not wanting to be alone she asked

" Mr. Jay, where is Thor ?" she got up and headed towards the door.

" He's in the training room Miss four floors down , I can take you their once you step into the elevator." She nodded even though Jarvis couldn't see her. Scurrying into the elevator one inside, they headed down and she walked into the gym. Thor was practicing some kind of fighting style with Bucky, Natasha sat on the sidelines watching them. Mary wasn't sure of what to do, sit next to her. Or walk away and pretend earlier didn't happen.

'Man up Lewis' she thought as she made her way to the bench sitting next to Tasha. Her bravery ended their because she couldn't talk to her.

" I'm sorry about surprising you earlier. I'm not sorry about kissing you, Bucky has quite a fascination of you, I think it'll go somewhere the three of us." Natasha said Mary tugged at her sweater.

" A fascination?" Was she just a curiosity something something fun to play with?

" He's attracted to you, yes" she made it sound so clinical.

" But not you, yet you kissed me?!" Mary swung around to look at her. Natasha's face showed nothing at all when she spoke

" You are appealing, but i know something good when i see it." Mary blinked , appealing? what the hell? So was Natasha just going after her so she wouldn't take bucky? instantly she felt very insulted she wasn't even after him.

" Listen, when bucky and I had our night on the town it was platonic. Just to do something fun because of my health, i never get to do anything!" she clenched her hands in her cardigan and got to her feet

" I would never go after him because I knew he had you. Natasha you going after me just because I might entice him away is rude!" She'd ended up raising her voice she turned on her heel and headed back to the elevator burning with indignation. Ignoring Natasha calling her name trying to get her to come back. once in the elevator she took a deep breath.

" Mr. Jay where is Tony?" She was going back to Steve's house in D.C., She just needed a safe car or bus service to take her back. Tony being from New York would probably know the safest ones she could take.

" In his lab, but you don't have authorization Miss Mary i'll take you to the common room and send him to you." That made no sense but she agreed feeling antsy. Tony found her sitting on the couch of the common room playing with the hem of her cardigan.

" Hey kiddo whats up? You look kinda out of it.?" she nodded still pulling at her hem

" Tony do you know a safe cab service?" she asked, he blinked.

" Why?" He went over to a drawer and pulled out a set of keys. "Here just take one of my cars, I have a whole fleet for my own use." She blinked shaking her head, but Tony still just put the keys into her hand.

" Either way kiddo I got a soft spot for the broken ones. Just take it, all my personal cars have Jarvis and auto drive. Pick which ever you like." He ruffled her hair " And I better see you for Christmas kiddo." And off he went before she could even tell him no. Wondering if she should accept his loan because there was no way this was a gift. From the corner of her eye she saw a flash of red, she didn't want to fight with Natasha anymore. She scampered to the elevator and went to Steve's apartment to leave a detailed note and get her phone. She'd promised Darcy she would have it with her at all times. She found Darcy's purse a big fat boho looking patchwork thing with dying fringe. it needed replacing, she fished out her phone and a yellow note pad. Once she wrote Darcy an explanation. Then she went to borrow Tony's car it turned out to be a flashy red Camero. Hoping she'd make it to D.C. in one piece even more happy that Pops had taught her how to drive.

Hi Guys and Dolls, so here is the next chapter. Steve finally gave Darcy her pin! Yeah! He's been carrying it around in his pocket for a while. And Tasha managed to insult Mary in to running away.
