Leah's point of view
We drove two cars to the bonfire in the forest. Everyone was already there. Embry came up and started talking to me. I loved this kid, he was the second most optimistic person in the pack. Obviously Seth was the first but I was biased. He was a great listener, he actually helped me a lot when I was recovering from my suicide attempt and I can never pay him back enough.
Everything was great. A couple of the guys were acting a little odd towards Seth and Will but most of them were over it. Except Brady but he stayed away and didn't say a word to Seth, Will, Paul or I. I'm guessing the ass beat he got from us made him shut his mouth. Or it could be at tribal meetings you really shouldn't say anything vulgar or disrespectful to anyone in front of the council. Billy and my mom were high council members.
We all were getting food which was chaotic. Rachel's beer, yes girls can drink beer too, slipped out of her hand. As quick as a flash, Embry caught the bottle in reaction. He slowly handed it to her and their eyes met. All of us froze but we instantly relaxed. He didn't imprint on her.
"Hey I'm Embry Call." He said giving her a very handsome smile, which had it not been for Paul, my panties would have hit the ground. And I'm pretty sure Rachel's hit the ground so hard they found China.
"Rachel Black. Jake's sister." She grinned back. We all looked at Billy.
"I need a beer now." He gritted his teeth. Of course Seth was there in an instant and handed him three and rolled him to the fire. Embry and Rachel didn't even notice this. It was weird, he didn't imprint but I guess they were naturally attracted to each other.
"Can I help carry you food? Probably don't want to risk the beer again." Embry chuckled nervously. I remembered he was really shy and she was really outgoing. So maybe they were a good match.
"Yeah thank you." Rachel blushed. She actually blushed. What was happening to us bitches? One hot werewolf starts flirting with us and we are goners. Jake looked confused and conflicted.
"Jake calm down. He didn't imprint. They are allowed to talk to each other. It's not like they are getting married." Quil whispered only low enough for the werewolves to hear. Jake didn't relax a bit.
Rachel and Embry sat very closely together. They were getting along quite well as Billy told the legends. Will was enraptured by the legends and Seth was watching his reactions silently. Billy then took a break from the stories.
"Hey Rachel and Will can you help me get something from the car?" Kim asked cleverly.
"Sure but we aren't exactly the strongest people here." Will chuckled.
"Exactly, let's show all the bronze we can also be strong." Kimberly laughed. Will and Rachel followed her.
"Damn, you have to give your girl credit Jared. She's smart." Paul laughed. Jared just nodded beaming with pride. Kim took the only two people who didn't know about the pack and imprinting away so we could talk.
"Okay we don't have much time. Seth are you going to tell him tonight?" Sam asked quickly. Seth shook his head no which I expected.
"Dude lay off my sister." Jake spat.
"Dude grow the fuck up. I didn't imprint on her. I'm allowed to talk to whomever I want. I haven't done anything wrong." Embry surprisingly snapped back.
"Exactly you didn't imprint on her. What if you two date and then you imprint on someone else someday? Are you going to hurt her the way Sam hurt Leah?" Quil asked.
"Hey keep my name out of your mouth." I warned. He just rolled his eyes.
"Guys seriously leave it alone. I never said I was interested in her. Also even if I was the only way we could have a problem is if Billy slept with my mom and I'm his son." Embry snarled. Whoa, he never brought up his dad issues especially to Billy, who was one of the suspects.
"No, I loved Sarah too much. I never cheated. I would have admitted that a long time ago. It might have been Joshua Uley. Other than that I don't know who." Billy answered looking sincerely at Embry. Sam tugged his hair obviously frustrated. He just wanted to know if he had a brother or not because all these family ties were getting confusing. But his dad bailed long ago so we would probably never know the answer.
"I just met her tonight. Fine I'll admit I'm interested in her, but what guy wouldn't be? Besides I have seen every girl in La push and unless I'm going to imprint on a new born baby, I'm not going to imprint. God all of you are so messed up. You are all so blinded by your imprint relationships. Do any of you remember what it's like to choose who you love? Do any of you remember what it's like to make a girl smile because you want to, not because or forced to?" Embry retorted.
Ouch that basically fucked my relationship with Paul. Embry saw this looking at all the couples and realized he might have over stepped a boundary.
"Look, I don't mean it like that. All of you are meant to be with you imprints but I just want to fall in love with a girl my own way. Besides she might not even be interested in me." Embry sighed.
"Embry she is. We can all see it. The problem is we don't know if Rachel's going to stay here." Jake explained.
"Why the fuck wouldn't she? This is her home?" Embry asked eyebrows scrunched up.
"She remembers my mom dying here. All she sees is painful reminders of my mom. It's why her and Rebecca left. What if she doesn't want to stay for you?" Jake asked. Embry's heart sped up.
"Then I would let her go." He sighed. We all stared at him in pity and disbelief. Just then Kim, Will and Rachel returned. We all tried to act normal again but we all knew that aching feeling that Seth and Embry were facing. Will or Rachel could freak out and leave if we told them the truth.
Paul and I walked home later.
"Do you think she'll stay?" Paul asked.
"She's only staying this week and then a week after the wedding. I wish Embry didn't have to rush but it might be the only option. Honestly I don't know what will happen. Plus Jake's right they aren't imprints. He doesn't have to tell her and there is nothing to make her stay. They might just be friends." I answered. Paul nodded then chuckled.
"What?" I said making a face.
"We started a pattern. Everyone wants to be as badass as us, that they are starting to get in relationships with the most unexpected person. Now it's okay to have really weird imprint bonds and free choice relationships. Who knows next Brady might imprint on a car." Paul laughed.
I also laughed because he did have a point. It was totally unexpected for Paul to imprint on me, for Seth to imprint on Will and Embry to have a crush on Rachel.
"Well we are the first to get married out of the weird couples club." I smirked.
"I love you bitch." He grinned.
"I love you dick." I laughed back.
