Chapter 35

Caroline gaped at her. She thought that dream would die once she became a member of the vampire community but now, knowing a way to give her that miracle of life, she jumped at the chance.

"Yes."

Kol's eyes grew huge as without any hesitation Bonnie began to chant. Diamond-like dust began to accumulate and suddenly Caroline began to feel a warmth and a little pressure inside her. Bonnie seemed to be expending quite a lot of energy and then finally she smiled at Caroline.

"I hope you took me seriously because you're ten weeks pregnant. Hear the heartbeat?" Bonnie smiled.

Caroline and Klaus could hear the heartbeat. It was fast and it made Caroline smile like crazy.

"Don't worry Lizzy," she cooed to her abdomen. "Mommy's here. Mommy will protect you."

"Lizzy?" Kol raised a brow and grinned. "What if it's a boy?"

"Then his name will be Bill. After my father." She said as she ran her fingers over her abdomen.

Klaus hesitated a moment before his hands joined hers on her flat abdomen. He couldn't believe he'd gone from barely having her back to being a father in the course of a meal or at least that's how it felt right this second. This beautiful woman that he had been in love with from afar for so long was carrying his child. She hadn't batted an eye; she'd just said yes. Now that he knew she was carrying his child he couldn't believe the urge he suddenly had to protect her surging inside him; more so than ever before. He now understood Kol and Elijah much better.

"Is there anything that you need at the moment or want?" He asked, staring into her eyes.

"Strawberries, bananas and chocolate." She answered instantly. He stood up and left to get her all those things that she desired.

"Mmm...I was just thinking bread pudding would be great for dessert..." Bonnie grinned.

Kol hurried off to get some for her.

"I didn't think you'd say yes," Bonnie grinned, "but I decided to call your bluff."

Caroline laughed and Jeremy groaned. Stefan shook his head.

"It sucks to be you at the moment Bonnie." Davina told her as she stood up with Lilly in her arms. Stefan stood up as well and took Lilly in his.

"It's time for a bedtime story little girl." He said. "About a pretty lady who tried to love but her heart was filled with hate and despair."

"Are you talking about Rebekah?" Jeremy asked him as he looked at Stefan.

"Her and maybe Katherine." He shrugged. "Both were pretty but both had their hearts filled with hate and despair."

Jeremy, Bonnie and Caroline groaned.

For all the times that Rebekah and Katherine hated each other, they had a lot in common.

Kol returned with the bread pudding and Bonnie kissed him deeply. Klaus returned a moment later with Caroline's fruit and dipping chocolate.

"I don't know about you but I'm in love," Bonnie said to Caroline as she smiled at Kol. She took a bite and then inhaled sharply as one of the babies shoved a little foot against her side. You could even see the outline.

Davina stared at it in surprise. She had never seen anything like that and it was pretty cool to see.

"Can I feel the babies kick?" She asked her.

"Of course," Bonnie answered easily. She placed Davina's hands but by then all was quiet. They waited and nothing.

"Kiss me darling," Bonnie requested to her fiancé. As he did Davina gasped as a moment later one baby kicked and the other flipped over.

"Apparently," Jeremy said sniggering. "To feel the children do anything-you need both Kol and Bonnie doing something to make it work."

Davina was laughing once she removed her hands and Klaus kissed Caroline on the forehead.

"Are you ready for a nap?" He asked her.

"I am." He scooped her up in his arms and at a human pace, he took her up to her room to sleep.

"No sometimes that just seems to get them going though but then so does yoga and spicy foods," Bonnie said.

"Maybe I should be around you when you do yoga." Davina mused. "It could be fun to do and it's a normal activity, right?"

Everyone around her nodded.

"I didn't know! I had been in the attic of St Anne's up until I met all of you!" She defended herself. "Marcel locked me up there to protect me from the witches."

"Yes, well just wait until you try yoga," Caroline laughed.

"You laugh but babies appreciate a little light exercise. It's healthy," Bonnie said.

"I hope its fun." Davina said as she was curious about it. Having no mother and father and the man who protected you die, she had no idea what to do next except what she wants and now, she wants to do this.

Live her life her way.

The next morning Davina and Bonnie were the first ones up. They spread Bonnie's mat out in the courtyard and then Bonnie began to show Davina how to go through the various poses and how important breathing techniques and focus were. It was a good discipline for a witch. Every few minutes Bonnie would have to pause or adjust a move as one of the babies would shift. She noticed how Davina was watching her and began to wonder if the young woman wished that she was carrying Jeremy's child.

"Do you ever wish that you are carrying Jeremy's child?" Bonnie asked her and she shook her head no.

"I do but not at the moment." Seeing Bonnie's confused look, Davina smiled. "Since the beginning of the Harvest Ritual, I have either been locked up in the attic of St Anne's or somewhere else in hiding. I've never truly lived life until I met all of you so I want to live a bit more."

"Jeremy knows this?" Bonnie got out.

"We already talked about it. He agreed with me." Davina added.

"How would you like to go shopping today? I was thinking it might be time to start decorating a nursery. It would be nice to have a little help and you could live a little." Bonnie offered.

"That would be fun! I've never done shopping for baby things and helped decorating a nursery." Davina told her warmly.

"Since we're in New Orleans I want to go with an old world French style with lots of rod iron, shades of pink and blue and the Eiffel Tower," Bonnie smiled.

Davina smiled as she imagined it.

"That would be beautiful." She gushed. In her mind, she could see all of it and it was beautiful.

"Elena, Care," she smiled at her friends when they finally joined them in the dining room. "I was thinking of going nursery shopping today and wondered if you wanted to come with us. Davina already decided to come so she could do a little living."

Elena and Caroline nodded.

"I need to go shopping for baby boy's nursery as well." She smiled as she began to rub the barely noticeable bump and Caroline was humming to hers.

"I think that it would be great." The blonde enthused.

Elijah and Kol were there instantly.

"Nursery shopping?" He asked and at the girls nods, they decided to accompany the girls (and to throw out ideas as well).
