Here's an update for everyone! I was going to update earlier but, alas, school was not canceled despite it being -35 degrees F. Sometimes I hate living in Idaho. It's a bit short but it's better than nothing. Anyways, enjoy!

Please review!

I sat in the crow's nest of my ship, the same place that Johnson and I were talking just hours before. I held John's necklace in my hand and stared at it, thinking about Johnson.
Cindy had gotten Beans and some of the other crew to pull John onto the Sicarious while I was still with Johnson. Fergus was another story. He had escaped on a lifeboat with a few other sailors but it didn't deter me from wanting to kill the man.
Right now, Cindy was working on trying to wake John up. It'd take a few months for the real John to get control again but I knew that it was possible. We just had to wait, something that I was not good at.
"I am sorry about Michael," Connor said from behind me.
I hadn't noticed him come up. I was too absorbed in my thoughts to hear him come up.
When I didn't answer, Connor sat next to me. I kept my gaze ahead. I was too tired from all of my crying to even care about anything else.
After crying my eyes out while Connor held me, I hopped onto my ship and immediately went to my cabin without a word or even a sideways glance to anyone. I sat on my bed for a long time, just staring at my hands.
"I wish I could have done something," Connor said quietly.
"Even if you did try, there was nothing you could've done. You would have been killed, too," I said tucking John's necklace into my pocket.
After a few seconds of silence, I felt Connor's hand rest on top of mine and I laced my fingers with his, scooting a bit closer to him before resting my head on his shoulder. I could feel Connor tense up but he relaxed quickly. I could feel the warm roughness of his hand in mine and it helped.
Tears began to form in my eyes and I closed them. I gripped his hand harder, trying to make the tears dissappear.
A few moments went by before Connor spoke. "Your father...he did not-"
"Look for me?" I finished for him.
"Yes," Connor said, surprised that I knew.
I sighed, opening my eyes. "He finally listened to me for once."
"What?" Connor asked.
"I told him if I ever went missing to not look for me."
"Why would you do that?" Connor asked, temper flaring.
"Because I'd rather have him find the rest of my family than waste his time on me." My voice was monotone, void of any emotion.
"'Waste his time on you'? He is your father, he shou-"
"Connor, the chances of me surviving this whole ordeal are getting lower and lower," I said lifting my head from his shoulder.
Connor was silent.
"I have come to terms these past few months that I will probably not live through this," I confessed. "I told my father that if I ever went missing, the chances of me ever coming back were slim. I told him not to bother looking for me when he could use his time on making sure my family wouldn't cause any more damage."
Connor struggled to get out his words. "But...why?"
I licked my dry lips. "If my family is taken care of, that mean's you'll be safe."
"Me?"
"Connor," I said turning to him. "I have done everything to make sure you stay safe. This whole situation I've been thrown into, I'm not doing it to save the world. Hell, I couldn't care less about this world. I'm doing this all for you. You're the last friend I have in this Godforsaken place. If me dying makes you safe, makes a safe place for you to raise a family, I say that it's a fair trade."
Connor was obviously stunned and I made my way to leave. Before I could climb down, Connor had stood up and grabbed my arm.
When he pulled me to him, I could feel the blush creep onto my face from how close we were. I could see all the freckles on his face, something that I had never noticed before. I felt one of his arms loop around my waist and bring me even closer while his other hand rested on my cheek.
His thumb lightly caressed my cheekbone as he spoke. "Only a friend?"
I struggled to find my words (something that rarely happens) and watched as his eyes glanced at my lips then back up at me.
I couldn't stop myself as my eyes slid shut, leaning closer. I could feel his breath on my lips, feel my heart racing inside my chest. Anticipation raced through me as I gripped his coat.
"Piper! We need you down here!"
I felt Connor freeze and I furrowed my brow, biting my lip. "I-I uh, better get down there."
I stared at his chest for a few moments before awkwardly patting it (smooth, I know) and turning away, heart still beating a million miles an hour and my cheeks burning as hot as the sun. As I glanced up at Connor, his face was one of disappointment. I wanted to say something but decided against it, jumping down from rope to rope swiftly until I was on my deck.

I froze as soon as my feet touched the deck. What in the world just happened?
