Chapter thirty four: Paralyzed

Kelly was sharing a can of tinned fruit with Hope. The power was still out but the cold during the night had kept the ice in the refrigerator from melting and both of them were crunching small slivers of ice, trying to keep themselves hydrated and avoid heat exhaustion.

''I hate peaches.'' Kelly finally said and Hope grinned.

''I hate Death Valley.''

''I hate the Aryan.''

''And the list goes on and on.''

They ended up laughing slightly to ease the tension. Kelly craned her neck and raised her eyebrows and suddenly thought... once you get past the fact that Hope is built like an NBA player she was a pretty okay person to be around. And even though her head still hurt from hitting the wall she was still alive thanks to her. The painkillers from their dorms medicine cabinet had taken the edge from the pain and Hope was able to walk around easily. In her good hand she weighted Kelly's pistol and took the safety off.

''Try to aim, and don't shoot me.'' Kelly half joked.

''Don't worry, I know how to shoot.''

''I don't even want to know how, do I.''

''No, you don't.'' She scowled, as if to scare off some memory and then turned to Kelly. ''Let's go get Alice and your friends back Kelly.''

Kelly nodded. They carefully walked down the stairs, reaching ground level and stopped in the main entrance. Suddenly there were footsteps and she grabbed Hope's shirt, pulling her back and out of sight. A man in gray military uniform was walking up and down the street, probably patrolling the school. Hope aimed at his head but Kelly put her hand over her weapon and lowered it.

''Don't shoot him.'' She muttered.

Hope frowned deeper. ''They wanted to start a war then we will give them war. This isn't the time to be nice'' She aimed again put Kelly stopped her a second time.

''I mean you don't have a silencer. They'll hear the gun go off and they will come running. Use the gun only in emergencies.''

Hope nodded this time but the frown didn't leave her face. Kelly grabbed a chair and threw it across the room, creating horrible pandemonium in the silent building. The man in uniform ran towards them, his machine gun aiming.

''Lower any weapons and kneel on the floor, hands in the air!'' He yelled and walked in. What he saw when he entered was Kelly with her hands in the air, looking at him and smiling.

''Sorry, I'm kind of out of sugar.'' She said and his confusion was enough of a distraction for Hope to hit the back of his head with the butt of her pistol, rendering him unconscious. She knelt and took his weapon and his radio.

''Now?'' She asked.

''Take his clothes off and tie him up.'' Kelly said quietly, keeping an eye on their surroundings. Soon Hope was completely concealed under the heavy uniform and his sunglasses.

''Damn, this thing is hot.'' She muttered, adjusting the strap of the machine gun around her. She patted the utility belt that came with the uniform. ''This has a lot of nice toys here, tear gas and smoke I think... maybe other stuff too.'' Kelly just nodded, remaining focused on the sunny desert outside.

''We need to get going.''

When Sabrina regained consciousness she was again in the air, Kris holding her up and then throwing her across the room once more. This time though she managed to land on all fours instead of her back and was able to jump back to her feet, painfully so.

''Kris, listen to me!'' She shouted. Under other circumstances she might have been able to soft talk Kris down from the drug induced rage and possibly psychosis but Sabrina wasn't in her best form. She had not eaten, slept, or had any water for quite some time and the heroin injection had dehydrated her system. Her nerves were reaching a very painful red marker and she was hanging by a thread to not just start screaming. ''Kris! Your body isn't made for this, you're going to hurt yourself!'' Neither is mine, she thought, when Kris slammed her against the wall once more.

The hell with it...

She grabbed Kris' hand and bent, darting forward, hitting Kris' stomach with her head and forcing them both backwards and on the floor. She soon found herself almost pinned but she was able to throw a punch and crawl away. Kris lay confused on the floor for a moment, blood filling the scrape on her cheekbone. Sabrina swore loudly, having used her right hand to punch, making her own injury worse and adding a new cutting edge on the pain.

''Kris...!'' She yelled, seeing that during the time she took to clear her vision from the pain Kris was already up and coming her way.

There was only one way to do this, she finally saw it. When Kris run her way she grabbed her shoulder, stepping on the side and slamming the side of her palm on the back of Kris' neck. The blond collapsed and Sabrina went down with her.

''Hello?!'' She screamed, hoping someone outside could hear her. ''I'll tell you... I'll tell you everything! Where the hell are you?!''

Half an hour passed before someone finally came in. It was the Aryan, she was alone. Sabrina lay on the floor next to Kris keeping her palms flat on the ground. The Commander smiled and towered over her.

''Well, I never expected something so exciting to happen! Looks like you two had a fight.'' She smiled gently and half crouched to Sabrina, yet her gun drawn by her side, the threat still there.

''You gave her PCP.'' Sabrina growled at her. ''She threw me on a wall. She couldn't have done that on her own.''

''Ah, so you know.''

Sabrina didn't move. ''I was a cop before I joined the Bureau.''

''So you've arrested PCP users before?'' From the glimmer in her eyes it seemed that she found the whole situation very amusing.

''Yes.''

''Exciting isn't it?''

Sabrina didn't talk. The Aryan reached and firmly grabbed her neck with her free hand. The angel made an extreme effort to remain completely still.

''Thats odd...'' The Commander frowned, and hesitantly backhanded her across the face. Sabrina winced but still remained still.

''You're not fighting anymore then?'' It seemed like she didn't find that amusing anymore. Her new toy was refusing to play with her.

''She broke my back slamming me on the damn wall. I can't move anything below my shoulders.''

''Oh, really...'' She sunk her knee in Sabrina's chest, cutting her breath. ''You can't move at all?''

Sabrina winced again as her chest seemed to catch fire, trying with everything she had to resist the instinctive urge to move away, crawl away, grab, punch, push her attacker off her chest, she needed to breathe otherwise...

The Aryan let go just as Sabrina seemed to slip back into darkness again. She gasped and coughed and the next breath filled her lungs. ''You're saying the truth...'' She laughed abruptly and pushed her weapon against Sabrina's face.

''Now it's time you tell me who your agent is.'' She pulled the trigger, almost causing Sabrina's heart to stop. But the bullet simply scraped her head, leaving a bloody trail as the Aryan laughed.

''Pretty helpless eh?'' She rested her gun against Sabrina's cheek. ''You know, since you probably don't feel anything down there I could shoot through your cheeks the next time. It will probably shatter some teeth but you won't die and you will still be able to talk, how does that sound?'' She laughed again. ''So helpless...'' She let the final ''s'' drag into a snake like sound.

Suddenly Sabrina growled back, driving her knee directly upwards on The Aryan's jaw, grabbing a firm hold of her pistol with her left hand. The gun went off but it was pointed away from them. She knew she couldn't possible take the pistol off the Aryan's good hand with her left so she opted to just keep pulling it away while she ramming her other knee up her opponent's stomach, rolling her on her back. The surprise of the impact made the woman let go and Sabrina finally had the pistol comfortably seated in her palm, pressing against the Aryan's forehead.

''Now let's do this my way bitch.''
