So, we left off last time with some emotion. Very cool. Very swag. Very handsome. I like it. Now, we get to lighten some things up. Thankfully, it's time to get that DRAGON BALL! Also, Dragon Ball Super Broly came out, so expect some discussion of that at the bottom with the Power Levels and Review responses.
In regards to me wanting to have one chapter a week... having a full time job, plus college classes, plus a college internship at a radio station... That will not be happening as you have noticed with the three weeks it took to get this done. Regular schedules? What are those?
It had been quiet. Yeah, it had been quiet. She stared at them, until Raditz was the one that broke it. Mother and son hugged each other in what could be described as the most emotional Raditz has ever been. He asked what happened, but it was Dende that answered.
Goku couldn't help the chuckle at the description of his dad speaking with King Kai. "I bet they're having a fun time." He looks over at Piccolo. "But we don't have anymore time to waste. Um..."
He looks at his Mother. She'd been sending strange looks every so often during her conversation with Raditz. She smiles warmly. "Ignoring a few missing scars, you're the mirror image of your dad."
Goku isn't sure why, he just chuckles and scratches his head, a slight blush on his face. "Really? I think it's the hair."
She goes rigid, taking that as a snarky comment, but Raditz quickly places a hand on her shoulder. "He actually means that. He's not intelligent mother."
Her feelings spared, maternal instincts kick in as she huffs. "Don't pick on your brother, Raditz." She turns to Goku and can't help but smile. Her smile then breaks into a full blown grin. "I'm so happy to finally see you, Kakarot."
Goku recognizes her feelings, a rarity for him. "I'm sorry to cut it short, but Piccolo and I have no time to waste. Besides, it'll only be a day for you. I'll have to wonder what the heck we'll say to each other after a year!" He chuckles.
She laughs as well. She looks at Piccolo, unsure how to speak to him. "Um..."
"You may call me Piccolo." He nods to her. His visage would be intimidating, but she simply nods respectfully.
"Sorry, I'm used to saiyans conquering, so asides from the denizens of Otherworld, I don't know what to say." She then looks ashamed. "After all, my son was sent here to kill all of you." She then looks at Raditz. "Well, both my sons."
Piccolo smirks. "And everyone in our group has tried to kill Goku at one time or another. It's how he forms bonds." He turns to Goku. "Let's go."
Goku nods and looks at Gohan. "Can I leave it up to you to collect the dragon balls?"
Gohan chuckles. "I would, but Mom will probably have a heart attack when she sees me. If I can't, I'm sure Uncle Raditz can."
Goku looks at Raditz and the two nod. Goku turns as he and Piccolo head into the chamber. "See you tomorrow!" He laughs as the two disappear inside. As they depart, Gine, Raditz, Gohan, Dende, and Popo set about the process of restoring the dragon balls.
. . .
Soon after the restoration of the balls, the three Saiyans take off from the Lookout. Gine has her eyes locked on the world around her, looking in awe as they head towards the ground, a white tower coming into vision.
Gohan yells out. "Hey Korrin!" He and Raditz wave at the cat and Yajirobe while passing. Gine looks in curiosity, the two tower dwellers also looking confused as she passes.
Within a few seconds, they tilt up from heading towards the ground, flying above the tree line. Gine's head keeps twitching back and forth. She can't stop looking around with her mouth open. She's not completely blown away in shock. More she doesn't know what to make of it. It isn't until they find the first mountain range that she finally finds her voice. "Oh! Uh... So, where are we heading first?"
Raditz smiles at his mother. Actually, his smile hasn't left him since seeing her. "Well, first things first is to drop the boy off to his mother."
Gine brightens up with a grin. "My son's mate!"
"Actually, here they have marriage, so that would make her your daughter-in-law."
Gine's eyes brighten more. "Yes! Okay! Where after that?"
Raditz chuckles. "Then we check in on your other grandchild." And he has her. "After that, we head to Capsule Corp for the Dragon Radar, and the hunt for the balls begins."
Gine looks excited between them, Gohan matching her excitement and innocence. "I think you'll love it here. Mom will be excited!"
. . .
Meeting Chichi had been... taxing. She had, obviously, freaked out at Gohan's change in height. However, she mostly held her composure for the sake of her dignity upon learning who the new house guest was. For a while, they clicked instantly. However, as Chichi showed more revulsion towards violence, which is, of course, a large part of a Saiyan's life, she kind of felt insulted. It didn't help that Chichi didn't hold back when saying all Saiyans were thugs.
Then again, even to Gine, they kinda were. Bardock aside of course. He's a dream come true. Oddly enough, the same type of infatuation as Chichi's for Goku.
However, leaving was a downer for Gine. "Mother, what's wrong?" Raditz asked. The two fly over a desert.
"It's just... I've just noticed. How long has it been since I died?" Before Raditz can give a response, she goes melodramatic. "I'm younger than BOTH my sons, BOTH my daughters-in-law, AND my mate!" She then looks at Raditz with a look of horror. "I'm going to outlive your father naturally by 20 years at LEAST!" She then gasps going pale. "I could very well outlive BOTH my children! Raditz, can this dragon make me older so I can die before you?"
Raditz sputters and yells back. "MOTHER! You JUST got back!"
She can't help being frazzled as they arrive at Raditz' home. THANK KAMI she has a perfect distraction from her aging woes. This perfect distraction being a tiny 1 year old named Raunch. Now, with hearts for eyes, she holds her granddaughter in complete content. The baby currently having midnight blue hair, giggling with the grandmother.
Launch, blue hair currently, leans against Raditz in the kitchen. "I know it's been two days, but the world needs you more right now."
Raditz huffs. "Nonsense. Besides, it's been a year for me."
Launch brightens up. "Right! I forgot about that part." She smiles sweetly at him and gets him a coffee. He accepts with a smile, downing the scalding hot beverage in moments. "Remember to blow it fir-" She sees that it's gone, Raditz now letting out a pained whine from a burned tongue. She sighs. "-I should warn you before handing it to you."
Raditz blushes in embarrassment. He shakes it off. "I just wanted to see you before going out again. Plus..." He looks over at his mother, the pure joy on her face. "I wanted her to meet her grandchild before we head out."
Launch smiles wide. "I can't wait for her to visit more."
They hear a sneeze from the living room, going in to find brunette Raunch, sitting back and mimicking punching moves, an evil grin on her face. Gine is giggling, not noticing the personality change as she leans back and shadow boxes as an example for little Raunch. "Yeah! There you go! You'll rough up any guy who tries anything!"
Raditz chuckles, but sends a wary look at the Brunette version of his daughter. "Um, Mother, we need to leave. Others to meet. Places to be."
Gine's shoulders droop. "I see." She smiles sweetly at the baby, petting Brunette Raunch's head. The baby's normally devious look turns innocent and happy. They all say their goodbyes, mother and son leaving. Soon enough Launch returns to her child, going wide eyed when she notices Raunch with dark blue hair again.
"But... you didn't sneeze to do that." She watches the innocent baby reach out to her mother happily. "Hmmm..."
. . .
Since leaving his home, Raditz noticed the brightness from his company grow exponentially. Not only did she get along okay with Launch, much more so than Chichi, she also met her OTHER grandchild. As they over some forests, Gine looks in wonder at several wild animals.
"You know, I was never one to go out on missions." She beams at her child. "Are the creatures on other worlds as interesting as the ones here?"
Raditz snickered. "In actual power? Not in the slightest. However, I do enjoy some of the beasts. The larger ones are awfully cocky." He laughs. "There's actually these lizards called 'dinosaurs' that are the most over confident. Watching the beasts' reactions when they break their teeth on you is great!"
Gine giggles at him. "My, you've gotten quite cocky yourself, young man."
Raditz blushes slightly, remembering his mother praising him once when he started being allowed to be sent out on missions. It's amazing how in less than a few hours, he feels like the child again. It's not annoying yet. Key word being yet.
The two approach West City, passing the damage left nearby from Cell's battle with the Z fighters. Both of them look in aw at the scorched land.
Getting to the city itself peaks the Saiyan woman's curiosity. "Oh, wow. They really prefer these tall tower designs."
Raditz explains. "Much of their technology is a far cry from even ancient Frieza Force tools. Their idea of good design is just stacking more floors on a building." He finds Capsule Corp, nodding towards it so Gine sees. "There's the most advanced place on this planet. At least the general design is similar to what you might be used to."
Gine looks at the building with an 'oh' face. Yeah, much of the structures of Planet Vegeta were dome-like and had tech built in. They touch down, taking a few glanced around. Raditz keeps a smile as he enters.
Moving through the halls, Gine catches site of what appears to be an indoor zoo. "Oh wow!" He sounds out, impressed by the docile animals, gardens, and tech that attends to them.
Raditz leads her through the complex to the inner labs. Sensing Bulma's location, he enters the lab and finds the scientist still working on Android 16, Android 8 acting as her assistant. "Bulma, I have need of the Dragon Radar!"
Bulma twitches in shock from the interruption, whipping around to send a glare. "Oh! So ANOTHER Saiyan comes barging in needing me to fix their pro-... blem..." She sees the newcomer. "Uh... hello, there." Bulma blinks and looks at Raditz.
Gine scratches the back of her neck awkwardly, a gesture Bulma can't help but feel familiar with. "H-Hi."
Five minutes of explanation later, Bulma screams. "GOKU'S MOTHER?!" Bulma slumps against the counter. "Oh my gosh, you Saiyans are gonna take over the planet with much you're multiplying at this point."
Raditz gets indignant. "Hey! That would only be an improvement on this wretched place!" He lets out a mix of a growl and a sigh. "Look, we have Dragon Balls again, and we need the radar to find them. Where is it?"
Bulma huffs. "And when you get a wish, are you gonna help the planet or bring back more Saiyans?"
Gine growls out. "Hey! None of that is his fault! Heck, I agree with you, but don't take it out on him."
Bulma eyes Gine suspiciously. "Uh huh. Keeping in mind that we got you instead of my son back." That bite back stopped Gine in her tracks. Bulma sighs. "... Sorry. Just... This alone will take getting used to, and you better hope this brings my boy back to life, or else no dragon alive will undo what I do." She glares at them. She moves over to a file cabinet, removing the radar and tossing it over to them. Raditz catches it, a serious look on his face. He gives a quick check, seeing the seven scattered dots. Bulma adds. "Be careful. Something tells me other people have already gotten to some. That just seems to be how it goes."
Raditz nods. Gine gives Bulma a weak smile. "Thank you."
Bulma frowns, thinking for a moment. She goes back to the drawer and retrieves... a blue scouter. "Here!" She tosses it to Gine, who catches it with a curious look. "I'm sure you can't sense power levels, so there's a spare we have. I haven't gotten around to that one to reprogram for Earth language, so it should still be what you're used to."
Gine brightens. "Oh, really?!" She beams at the device before putting it on, excited. "I was never sent out on missions that often, so I rarely got to handle them." She looks in Raditz' direction.
"WAIT!" Bulma screams, stopping the Saiyan female. "Don't scan your sons... or Cell... or Piccolo... or anyone of our group. They can all break those things. Cursory glances for high powers only. Don't try a detailed scan."
A bright goofy smile appears on Gine's face. "Got it!" She and Raditz rush out. "Great to meet you, Bulma!"
. . .
"... and this is our FIRST one?" Gine asks, a bit disappointed. The two float in the air above the ocean, waters moving in currents.
Raditz holds the radar, sighing. "Yeah, the first one is here. It's either above or below us."
Gine brightens a second, looking up, then returns to a look of disappointment when nothing is above them. "Yeah, shouldn't have gotten my hopes up." Both Saiyans take deep breaths and speed into the water.
A moment later, the two find themselves at the ocean floor. They each look around, finding nothing of note. Raditz decreases the distance of the radar, getting more accurate. Still down. Gine looks over his shoulder, curious. She starts looking around for a ball.
Raditz looks after her as she searches. He would sigh if not for needing to hold his breath. He starts a ki ball, emitting bright light over the area. From the light, the two see a reflection deeper down in a crevice. Gine nods and drops down. She stops, seeing a brilliant orange ball with red stars inside. One... two... three... six stars total! It seems to be embedded into a rock. She grabs it, and with a great pull, she wrenches the ball free, cracking the rock.
She appraises the beautiful ball in her hand before her scouter sets off. She looks blankly forward, the device highlighting the entire rock face in front of her with '57' lighting up in the display. She bursts back as the rocks burst up. These aren't rocks! It's a giant crab!
Raditz freaks out, seeing three more appear around his mother. He speeds down, kicking one into the sea floor. Then is ducks a crab pincer, grabbing it and ripping it off. The next crab approaches him.
The one in front of Gine hits her back with its claw. Gine hits a reef, recovering and dodging the beast. She swims back, the crab in pursuit. She holds up one hand, anger on her face, as she focuses. Blue energy forms around her arm, flickering, focusing into a ball, then firing. It hits the crustacean head on, eradicating the main body as its legs fall to the floor.
Gine sees that Raditz is done with his as they nod. A moment later, Raditz bursts from the waters, shaking off. He takes a nice deep breath. He looks around. "Uh, mother?"
The water bursts open, Gine smiling brightly. In her left hand is the six star dragon ball. In the right hand is one giant crab leg. "Look! We have dinner for later, too!"
Raditz blinks before laughs. "Excellent!"
. . .
As if to the tune of a song titled Get That Dragon Ball, the two make their way across the planet, searching through for different balls.
The one star ball is found in a desert. The mother and son spend an hour digging through the sands until Raditz gets angry. His roar lets out his power, blasting out a miniature storm. Gine finds the ball in the aftermath. Raditz glares at her while she laughs.
The three star ball is found in what looks like a large birds nest alongside several eggs. Gine picks out the ball from the nest, only for mommy to return, a massive pterodactyl. The dinosaur surprises them, grabbing Raditz by the shoulders. Raditz nearly blasts his way out, only for Gine to hold one of its eggs hostage. The dinosaur goes wide eyed from worry, quickly releasing Raditz while Gine places the egg back in the nest. The two leave with Raditz threatening to blow up the beast and its children.
The seven star ball is the least difficult, literally sitting in the forest. Raditz goes to reach for it, but stops. He looks around, waiting for the ambush. He taps the ball a bit, making it roll, but nothing happens. He reaches, looks around hastily, then sweeps the ball up. He blasts into the air to his mother. Nothing chases. Huh! After the last three, he expected more.
. . .
The two enter a small town, very reminiscent of the wild west. As they search around, they enter a parlor, seeing several gambling sections. The ball is definitely in this building. Up on a podium across the room sits the ball, the two star ball. Raditz marches over towards a bartender. "We need that ball."
The bartender is surprised. "Sorry, you gotta play the right game. Need to be in the back room." He says stern.
Raditz narrows his eyes. "And what do I need to do to get back there?"
The bartender raises a brow. He looks around, seeing most others busy gambling. "It's not exactly the type of gambling you should like. That's the boss' prized possession."
Raditz grabs the bartender by the collar of his shirt, not even a blink of an eye passing. "Go on..."
The bartender realizes he's lost control of the situation. However, a hand politely pats onto Raditz's shoulder. "My man, be reasonable. What's your problem with my establishment?"
Raditz turns to see a tanned man with a dark scruffy beard and hair. His overcoat gives him a sketchy feeling. "I want the ball."
The man shrugs. "Well, why didn't you say so? All you needed was to go all in on the wager." He smiles at Raditz. "And I do mean ALL in."
Raditz scoffs. "Then quit messing with me and get to the point."
The man smiles. "Let's go to the back room."
The boss walks back with Raditz and Gine into a private room. Its small, cramped almost. The only items taking space are a small round table with two chairs. The boss sits in one chair, placing the dragon ball on the table. Raditz takes the other seat. "Alright, my man. We're going to go All In. You need the rules?"
Gine scoffs at the man, not liking him one bit. Raditz keeps a serious stern look. "Get on with it."
The man grins as he removes a revolver from his coat. "I got to where I am by putting everything on the line. I'm actually quite good at it." He reveals that the revolver has one bullet. "The name of the game is Roulette! Quite simple. You want something so bad, you put your life on the line. We spin the chamber, and take a risk. We go until one of us wins!" He makes a gun gesture towards his head.
Raditz grins. "Oh? Is that all? I didn't think you'd waste my time this badly. Get on with it."
The man smiles wide. "Why thank you!" He spins the chamber and points the barrel directly at his own head. The trigger is pulled. . . The man smirks as the click sounds. He places the gun in front of Raditz. "Well then... your turn."
Raditz smirks back, taking the gun and spinning the chamber. "Well, I'm sorry, but this game just isn't exciting enough for me." He checks the chamber and deliberately puts the bullet in the correct slot. The boss frowns.
"Uh, buddy, what are-"
Raditz points the gun at his own head and pulls the trigger. BANG! The boss's jaw drops, the bullet stopped in Raditz's temple. It drops onto the table with the sound of a pin drop. The boss isn't capable of speech as Raditz smirks. He picks up the dragon ball and walks out. "Thank you." The guy isn't willing to speak up after that display.
As they leave, Gine looks at Raditz with a bored expression. "You could have just taken it to begin with."
Raditz lets out a loud laugh. "I could have, but putting fear in the heart of the stupid is something I can't pass up!"
. . .
The two quickly find themselves back in the barren wastelands. Finding several plateaus around, they search around for the next ball. Gine smiles wide. "Wow, I can't believe I'm seeing so much of this world after only a day here! No wonder people enjoy going after these dragon balls."
Raditz smirks as he comes to a stop atop a plateau. "Well, maybe it wasn't originally intended for people like us. For them, it's life or death. To us-"
Gine pouts. "Hey, I'm fairly certain half the humans you know are leagues above me, and I'm having a great time!"
Raditz chuckles. The radar shows the last ball is nearby. Directly ahead... and closing in rapidly. He frowns, putting the radar down. "Mother, step back."
Gine's smile drops as halts behind him. In a blur, an orange ball speeds in, Raditz bringing his hand up to catch it. The speed and power of the throw surprises Gine as she couldn't see it. Suddenly, her scouter flares to life. "What?"
Raditz keeps a frown on his face as he glances to his hand. The five star ball sits in his palm. A familiar gruff voice calls out. "Found that in the middle of nowhere. I assume that's what you're here for?"
Raditz looks up to see Vegeta floating with his arms crossed. Gine looks around Raditz to see the Saiyan prince. She gasps. "V-V-Vegeta?! Wait... the Prince?"
Vegeta's attention instantly snaps to Gine. Raditz sweats slightly. "Mother... stand back."
Vegeta's gaze narrows. "Raditz... explain." The tone in his voice is anything but pleasant.
And with that, we are done! Uh oh! I wonder if Vegeta will be pleased when he discovers why Gine is here instead of a certain lavender haired future warrior! Next time, complications.
Power Levels:
Really, the only new information to show is Gine. We know she's weaker than most warriors, and since one of said warriors from the new movie only had a power level just over 900, I can't see Gine's power being over 500. Heck, Goku and Piccolo from the Raditz fight at the beginning of Z could probably stomp her. In fact, after seeing the Broly movie, it reaffirms where MasakoX put Gine in his What If stories. For the purpose of this story, we will ball park her power at...
Gine – 300
Reviews:
Super Mystic Gohan – We shall see! The Namekian will definitely receive a boost. Reasonable, but a boost nonetheless.
TheJSmooth – Unfortunately, having them collect the balls to use after the Cell games leaves Bardock and Trunks out of the fight for the remainder of the arc. Sadface.
PokemonForever9000 – Golden Frieza's only ever stated power level was the joke of it being one hundred quintillion (100,000,000,000,000,000,000) because they said Frieza was a 'nice guy'. That number in Japanese is spoken as 'naisu gai'. So the ONLY stated power level for anything in Super is a pun. Seeing as so much of Super is left open with power statements, it's hard to say. This statement is SORTA official, so I COULD use that, then use scaling to do pretty much do all the power levels of Super, but I hesitate to do so. I know people who have calculated feats and determined where he should be based on that? But for me to do so myself off the top of my head... Can't say. That's why I used multiples of Goku as a measurement for the past few Broly topic responses.
HA4e – I love quoting those movies. God help you all if I start putting Bane quotes in this story. The quality of writing will make this 3/10 story to a 1/10 real fast.
Serus Black Antihumannature – Unfortunately, I don't see Nappa getting the stamp of approval from King Yemma like Bardock did, so while Bardock and Trunks get to train and have fun, Nappa gets to chill in Hell... sorry, I meant HFIL.
UNTensaZangetsu – Someone else left a complaint on this as well, but King Kai demonstrated Instant Transmission when Goku visited him to find New Namek in order to get Dende. While the scene is anime exclusive, i.e. filler, many people will bitch about me using that, but the thing is nothing in the franchise contradicts it. While there is a hierarchy of legitimacy for sources, and filler is at the bottom, if the filler doesn't contradict anything, that ends up as canon as well for the purposes of this story.
Also, yes we shall be doing the Z version of Broly. Although, I will say that I love Super Broly so much more as an actual character and not being triggered by crying. That movie was perfect in so many ways, but was only held back by a few things. Easily in my Top 3 movies behind History of Trunks and Battle of Gods.
Finally, since there's been several chapters with review responses regarding Broly's power and the powers of the fusion, here is what I got from the movie regarding powers.
SPOILER WARNING FOR POWERS! READ FURTHER AT YOUR OWN RISK IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE NEW MOVIE!
The movie does not change the fusion power multipliers for me. Rather, it actually could change the SSG and SSB power levels.
Base Broly – Super Saiyan Vegeta. This makes Base Broly slightly above 50x Goku and Vegeta's base. Usually in these situations, when there's no defined difference, we can simply say that Broly is even with that with the understanding that its an estimation and slightly, only slightly, under what it really is.
Base Broly – 50x Goku/Vegeta's base forms.
Broly then uses a sort of wrath form as I've heard some people call it. I don't know what name it will get, but that form uses the Ozaru 10x multiplier as stated in the movie.
Broly Wrath Mode – 500x Goku/Vegeta base forms.
Broly in his Wrath Mode barely overpowered Goku and Vegeta's God forms... this means that we have an official ballpark for Super Saiyan God.
Super Saiyan God – 500x base power. It's literally Super Saiyan 3 plus 2 together.
As I've stated before, statements made in the Super Universe 6 vs 7 tournament implied Super Saiyan Blue was 5x Super Saiyan God. So...
Super Saiyan Blue – 2500x base power. IT'S WEAKER THAN SUPER SAIYAN 4! Thank you Broly. Go GT! Sure, the god boost from having god ki blows GT powers out of the water, but at least GT finally has the superior transformation.
Now, going off the fight between Kale and Caulifla against Goku in the tournament of power, Kale's Legendary Super Saiyan form was equal to the same level as regular god Goku, while he was in Blue form he stated afterwards he was holding back to around god levels. This made Legendary Kale 500x base Goku power.
Since both Kale and Caulifla in SS2 matched Goku's SS2, meaning each of the two are about half Goku's power when all at Base form, that means we double that multiplier.
Legendary Form – 1000x base form.
For Super Broly, that puts him at...
Base Broly – 50x Goku base
Wrath Broly – 500x Goku base
Legendary Broly – 50,000x Goku base.
Full Powered Super Saiyan Broly – 500,000x Goku base... this is just a hypothetical, but they seem to want Broly's form to be somewhat different from Kale's, and the only way I see that is if they're combining the Wrath form's 10x power boost into Legendary. Personally, I don't believe this is even a thing, but since it might be, I just decided to include it. I don't think it is a thing though given just how easily Gogeta stomped Broly.
Going off of pre-established fusion multipliers.
Gogeta base – 200x Goku base. Goku's power plus Vegeta's x 100.
Gogeta Super Saiyan – 10,000x Goku base. Times 50.
Gogeta Super Saiyan Blue – 500,000x Goku base. Super Saiyan Blue would theoretically be 50 times stronger than super saiyan, so this is that jump.
So, Base Gogeta did absolutely nothing but dodge several blasts, then turn Super Saiyan to fight. Super Saiyan Gogeta was stronger than anything else Broly fought, and just like anything else Broly hadn't seen before, he gets caught off guard and takes some hits. However, the sheer fact that Broly survived ANY Super Saiyan Blue attacks means any 'damage' Super Saiyan did is meaningless.
Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta being 10x stronger than Broly? Works pretty well. He had FULL control of that fight with a smirk the entire time. No problems. However, even 10x stronger, that's still a much closer contest than Janemba had with Gogeta, so it makes sense Broly could survive the same move that murdered Janemba in one shot, even if barely.
