Hey guys. I hope you enjoy this update. I've delayed going to bed for my 7 am start at work to finish this chapter. #Commitment lol XD

Walking was so damn slow. It sucked! I was walking slower than normal but apparently for some people it was still too fast.

"Hey would you slow down!" someone shouted.

I turned for the millionth time to see that that all the freshman's were lagging behind but it was the chubby guy with red pants, who was moaning. He was so far behind.

Zara, who was beside me turned to see my reaction and It's only for this reason that I kept my cool. "You lot need to speed up because hanging around the forest at this time of night isn't the best idea," I told them.

That's the understatement of the century.

"Yeah, probably because of drug dealers like you," I heard the chubby guy mutter under his breath. Instantly my hands clenched but I stopped myself from reacting. Instead I just forced myself to focus my attention on Jared, who was following us. I could just about see him. He was deep in the trees and really keeping his distance and I knew it was killing him, even though Kim was walking on my other side. I'd keep her safe.

"Well we've been walking forever," another girl suddenly added.

Kim sighed then because even she was getting annoyed.

The vein in my forehead was throbbing like crazy going. These kids hadn't stopped whining since we'd untied them.

Before i had a chance to say anything though Zara turned around. "What's wrong with you guys? You want to get home right?" she snapped.

All the freshmen's just grumbled.

Zara rolled her eyes. "I'll take that as a yes," she said sarcastically,"Walking is the only way we are going to get there. Maybe it's an idea to moan less and walk more."

All the freshmen's finally shut up. I breathed out, not only because they had but because I could see the road up ahead. We're almost there.

Suddenly the ground started shaking again. My eyes shot open. Guys! This isn't the time!

Zara jumped.

The kids started screaming. Before I knew it they were running past me even the chubby guy. However they were running in all directions like headless chickens.

Shit I'm going to lose them.

"HEY!" I shouted.

The shaking beneath our feet was getting worse and louder. The shocks were moving the branches and leaves of the trees above us. We were all finding it hard to stand.

"Run straight ahead! Only straight! You'll be out in 5 minutes," I shouted after the freshmen's. They were all stumbling through the trees but they were soon all running in one direction. The road was up ahead. They'd be fine from there.

A scream and the feeling of nails digging into my arm, brought me back. I stopped staring after the freshmen's to turn and see Zara's terrified eyes. She was holding onto my arm.

I turned around straight away to see what she was looking at.

My eyes shot open.

I jumped.

JARED!

My heart stopped.

He was standing right next to Kim and even she looked shocked. Jared would never come out of his hiding place. Unless….

Jared just pointed his head to the east.

Suddenly there was that smell. Every hair on my neck stood up. It was that diabetic, sweet smell. It was everywhere. I screwed up my face as it assaulted me and burned my nose. I don't know how I hadn't noticed it earlier.

Zara was pulling me back. "Paul. What the-"

I turned to her. She had lost all her breath as she just stared at Jared who was towering over all of us. He looked like a brown grizzly bear.

I quickly removed Zara's hand from my arm."Zara go!" I told her.

She just shook her head. "Not without you!"

My body started shaking as the leech smell got stronger. Shit. I was going to phase.

I kept telling Zara to leave but she wouldn't listen and I was nearly pulling out my hair in frustration now.

I grabbed Zara's hand then and started dragging her along.

"Paul!" She shouted, "What about Kim!?"

I just pulled Zara along. "She'll be fine."

Zara fought a little as she was unsure of what would happen to Kim but I just kept dragging her along. We didn't get far enough though before the howling and growls started. I felt the adrenaline rush instantly as my heart went crazy. I could see the road ahead. It was close.Almost there…

However the leech smell was still getting stronger so my body was shaking harder now.

I quickly stopped then. I let go of Zara and turned to face her.

She stared back at me.

I pointed to the road then. "Seriously you have to go. Now!"

Zara's forehead creased then. Her eyes narrowed a little as she looked at me with suspicion. "Why?"

Before I could say anything she continued. "Why are you not going too? What's going on?"

The leech smell was now overwhelming me and I was going to break soon. My nostrils flared. "Now's not the time Zara!"

She just stayed where she was.

Do I have to push you out of here?

Zara took a step forward. "What…are you up to? What-"

"God she asks so any questions," a silky voice interrupted.

It made Zara jump.

My eyes flew open.

I turned sharply and stood in front of Zara.

A set of bright red eyes were staring at us. Leech. He was tall and he had the trademark pale white skin. He looked like death. The leech must have been a teenager when he was turned. God knows how old he was now.

He just looked at us.

The sweet smell was now burning my nose and instantly the shaking had got to the point where it was rattling my insides. I was being forced onto the ground then.

I was going to phase any second. "Go," I barely managed to tell Zara.

"P aul," She said. I heard her concern.

I was on the floor and I could just see her out of the corner of my eye. I could see Zara staring at the leech through my shaky vision.

The leech had titled his head to the side. He seemed curious. "Shouldn't you be running?"

Zara just looked confused. "Running from what?"

The leech smiled. "From me," he stated, "I do enjoy the chase."

Zara's forehead creased. "What the hell are you on about?"

The leech were on the verge of laughing. "Dumb human. I'm here for your blood," He then looked at me, "….even if you have a little wolf pet."

Immediately Zara's face screwed up and she clenched her hands into fists. "Urgh! I know you're in on this with Andrea. This is getting so fucking old! There is no such thing as vampires and werewolves! It's just a legend!"

All of sudden the leech wasn't amused anymore. He just punched a nearby tree.

The tree trunk broke instantly. The next thing we knew it was falling.

Zara started screaming when the tree took down the surrounding trees. It was a second before there were almighty thuds. The noise rumbled through the air.

Zara had stumbled back and fallen onto the floor.

The aftershocks of the fallen trees rocked the ground.

"I'll show you how real I am!" the leech said. The next thing I knew it was heading straight for Zara. I exploded straight away. Instantly my teeth were on the leech's neck.

There was more screaming.

I was running hard on four legs. I dragged the leech along. I had to get as far away from Zara as possible.

It was over. The secret was out.

I was running forever.

Slowly the leech was starting to fight back.

GUYS!

Dry dirt and leaves flew in all directions as i stopped running. The leech was starting to overpower me. Straight away I smashed the leech into the ground but I was struggling to hold him down by the neck. A little help here.

I didn't have to wait long. Before I knew it Sam arrived through the trees and quickly grabbed the leech's leg. Embry was second and grabbed the other leg and Jacob arrived last.

The leech was snarling and sneering. I could see his fangs.

I just held onto his neck but looked at the guys. Where's Jared?

Sam's jaws tightened around the leech's leg when he tried to stand up. Jared's with Kim and Zara.

My eyes went wide. Zara?!

The leech snarled and cried out as Sam continued to crush his leg to immobilize him.Yeah they found her and it's not good. She's trying to run away from them so Jared's chasing her to my house. We need to finish this leech off and do some damage control. Asap!

I was leading the way, running faster than all the guys towards Sam's place. We'd finished the leech off quickly so we were running back. Embry was trying to fill me in on what had happened to him, Jacob and Sam as we ran but I wasn't paying attention. I just picked up on something about two leeches popping out of nowhere when they had saved the second group of kids and that one had escaped and ran towards our group to try his luck.

Who cares?

Right now I could barely calm down. I was thinking of Zara. My heart wouldn't stop banging against my ribs. My situation was so bad. I never wanted Zara to found out….not like this.

It wasn't long before i could hear her shouting. I was getting closer.

Zara eventually came into my view. She was on the outskirts of the forest and she was moving away from Kim. "Just stay back! Stay back!"

I was on the verge of puking. My stomach twisted and turned so hard.

I could see Jared hanging back while Kim tried to get near Zara.

Zara had her hands out. "I mean it!" she shouted as she was caught between a full blown panic attack and violent anger.

Kim just looked concerned. "Listen, I know this is a lot to deal w-"

Zara looked disgusted as continued to back away. "You're one of them too!" she accused.

Kim just shook her head. She was trying to remain calm but it wasn't working. "No…but Zara…listen-"

"Then you knew!" Zara spat as she turned to run.

Quickly, Kim ran forward and grabbed Zara by the arm.

Zara struggled so hard but Kim kept a hold of her. They were soon having a little scuffle.

Suddenly Zara turned around and shoved Kim. "Let me go!"

Immediately Kim lost her balance and instantly Jared was at her side.

Zara's eyes flew open as she snapped out of her panic. I knew she was shocked by what she'd done.

Kim had her eyes squeezed shut but when she didn't feel the ground, she opened them. Kim let out a breath when she saw that Jared had caught her. Jared was just glaring at Zara as he tried to help Kim up.

This was bad.

By now Zara had backed out of the trees and up onto Sam's backyard.

I disappeared into a bunch of nearby bushes but the tension and stress in my body made it so hard for me to phase back, no matter how badly I wanted to. It was only after another five minutes was i back on two legs. My hands were shaking though. I was so nervous that I could barely pull up my shorts. I was quickly stumbling out of the bushes then and walking towards Zara before any more damage was done.

Zara's head snapped up when she heard me approaching.

Yep there it is.

I felt myself die a little inside as Zara looked at me all horrified. She just started stumbling back again. Her hands were still out and her eyes were now popping out of her head. "You….they..."

I walked passed Kim and Jared as I tried to get near Zara. "Zara."

Zara just kept moving away from me. She wouldn't let me get close to her. I could see the hurt in her eyes. It was buried deep in the anger as she stared at everyone. I had feeling she felt betrayed like we have all been keeping something from her.

Zara's eyes were hard. "Is this…some kind of sick joke?"

I had no idea what to say.

"This just can't be real," Zara said to herself as she held her head then, "No. No. Then all fictional things would be real, things like fairies and the big foot," Zara started to ramble.

I just followed her up Sam's backyard. "Look I know this is a lot to take in but -"

Zara just shook her head. "No. No. It's not a lot to take in because it's not real. This whole thing must be a nightmare. It's just a nightmare"

I felt so sorry for Zara right now. She looked like she was about to have a breakdown. She was forcing herself to un-know everything that had just happened. It's like she was trying to drown it all out with denial but that wouldn't work. I'd tried that. Things would never go back to the way they were everything had changed now.

I couldn't meet Zara's eyes for a second. "You know…What you saw."

Zara just stopped moving then. She seemed to be getting too overwhelmed as she stood still. Her heart and breathing rates were off the charts. I could hear her thundering heart and her ultra-fast and shallow breaths. Zara was still holding her head.

Man she's getting worked up.

Suddenly Zara looked like she about to make a run for it so I quickly grabbed her wrist. "Zara please wait! I love you!" The words burst out of my mouth before I could stop them.

Zara stopped fighting then.

There was silence.

She eventually turned around and her eyes were wide.

We just stared at each other.

I was a little out of breath. "I…love you," I repeated.

Zara just started at me. She didn't say anything. I had no idea what was going on in her head.

I just couldn't lose her again… "Listen. I'm sorry for hurting you…for being a jerk...for Lisa. I'm sorry for everything. I never wanted to break up with you. I only did it because I was scared," I started, "I didn't want you to know about this part of my life. I never wanted you to find out but I knew it would happen sometime. I promise this is the only thing I've ever kept from you. I never wanted you to find out….but you know the truth now. Just…just let me explain."

I just spewed everything that i'd been holding in for months. It was like word vomit.

Yet despite this Zara didn't reply. She just stared at me.

I held my breath so hard that my lungs hurt.

My heart sank as I watched Zara slowly start to glare at me. Her anger was back but there were tears in her eyes. "What…the hell are you?!"

My mouth fell open as all the air left my lungs. "I'm….."

Zara just turned to leave. "I wish I'd never found out."

I pulled her back desperately by her arm. "No Zara don't go! This doesn't change anything! I'm still the same person!"

Zara unwillingly turned. "No you're not! This changes everything!"

I held onto her arm. "It can't change things…because...because i know you love me too!"

Zara met my eyes then. She was caught between crying and glaring at me. "Wh..at?"

I could barely control my breathing. "You told me."

Zara looked away then. "I thought…I dreamed that," she said to herself.

My grip on her arm tightened a little. "You didn't."

Zara paused for a minute before she turned away. Her voice cracked. "I don't love you anymore."

I kept Zara standing where she was. "You're lying to me," i said, my own voice cracking.

Zara just started thrashing around again. She was fighting to try and get away from me. "LET GO OF ME OR ELSE!"

When I didn't she started screaming so loud. Her threat was real. Her screaming cut straight through my ear drums. I instantly let go of Zara. It's like she had burned my skin. I jumped away.

Zara stumbled back a little. She looked around me to see the guys and Kim were all staring at her.

Zara just screwed up her face as her eyes landed on me. "I don't even know who you are anymore?! I don't even know what you are?!"

I moved forward a little. "I'm the same guy. I'm the Paul you know!"

Zara just shook her head. Her cold eyes were on me. "You're not Paul. you're a-" Suddenly she paused. I could see the cogs turning in Zara's mind. Her eyes were slowly growing wide. "You're a…"

I sucked in a breath as I swallowed. I couldn't say anything.

Zara's mouth fell open then as she pointed at me. "Oh my god! It was… you! You were that thing in my back garden that day with Hugo!"

My heart rate doubled. Shit! I'd forgotten about that. I quickly walked towards Zara. "Okay. I can explain…it's not what it looks l-"

Suddenly Zara's palm met my face. The slap shook my face and teeth. The stinging spread from the site of impact and radiated out.

"Ah son of a -!" I yelled as I held my face.

Zara's slap was so hard that were tears in my eyes. I squeezed my eyes shut as the stinging didn't go away. I was doubled over.

"You're a stalker!" Zara started shouting. I felt her hitting me all over.

I stumbled and fell.

The next thing I knew she was on top of me.

I don't know why I took her anger. I don't know when I just took her hits.

"H…ey…," I barely managed to say as I tried to block her.

Her anger was overwhelming. I'd never seen it this bad. Her eyes were all crazy. Her teeth were gritted so hard.

Embry rushed forward then. He grabbed her around the waist. "Hey! Hey! Zara that's enough!"

"YOU STAY WAY FROM ME YOU FREAK!" Zara shouted at me as Embry hauled her away.

Zara just thrashed around and managed to get out of Embry's grip. She turned on him then. "THAT GOES FOR YOU TOO!"

Zara's chest was heaving. She was out of breath as she looked around at Sam, Kim, Jared and Jacob. "THAT GOES FOR ALL OF YOU!"

Zara just bolted then. I heard the gate rattle shut but I couldn't get up. I couldn't follow her because I could barely breathe. I just stayed on the ground. I held my chest because there was so much pain there. Zara had reached into my chest and ripped out my bleeding heart. She'd stomped all over it.

I couldn't breathe.

"Freak! Freak! Freak!" The word rang out in my head.

She thought I was a freak….But I loved her.

Well that couldn't have gone any worse.
